This year in the US there have been 18 school shootings. That’s nine times as many as in the whole history of the UK. Lack of gun control is, by far, the most inexplicable thing about America.

      • we have lots of gun control, stupid people get around the gun rules and laws

like the straw buyer would bought the cop killer gun for him

and you can’t ban guns according to SCOTUS

    • You wonder why liberals LOVE spending so much money on school with little to no results… but they don’t advocate for one dime for school protection; retired police, military, ANYTHING to protect the kids. Fine to have their politicians protected… but not our children. Shameful.

  • hey Scamp,

    thanks for the Yardbarker info

also Walter only shows the first 5 picks on his summary page and I have not seen where he shows on all the 1st rounders from the mock drafts he lists

    • The problem is you have to click on each and every draft to see the whole thing. They’re all there. It would just be too much info to post on the initial page.

      • it would be neat if someone had all that data and you could just pick the team and see all the picks everyone made for the team

Authorities were responding to an active shooter at a Florida high school on Wednesday afternoon. The situation still was not secured, more than an hour after it began.

  • The news of his trade angered fans and fellow Redskins players alike, but Fuller understands the team wasn’t looking to just get rid of him.

Actually, the day after the trade, I was still kind of in town, so I had just went up to the facility, really just to grab some stuff, go see coaches, Bruce [Allen] and everybody like that, so I was able to talk to both teams,” Fuller said. It wasn’t too bad, because it wasn’t like the Redskins were looking to get rid of me. … I think the Chiefs were kind of bringing it to ’em, like, ‘If you want this guy, you’re going to have to give up Kendall Fuller.’ All of them were upset that I had to go, so it wasn’t like they were trying to kick me out the door. It was a little bit emotional, especially having my college coach up there, [defensive backs] coach Torrian Gray. So just seeing all of them, the head coach, Bruce and Doug [Williams], it wasn’t too bad though.

    • I will grant you that I don’t read all the local media, but I don’t recall stories about how they treated him poorly. I recall stories about not wanting to or wish they hadn’t giving him a away and a 3rd round draft pick

  • If a team trades for a player, who is responsible for paying deferred signing bonus — the old team or the new team?

    • To answer my own question, the trading team is responsible for paying any prorated bonuses, and the hit accelerates to the year of the trade. So in Sanders’ case, the portion of his contract the signing team would owe would be $8.25M in 2018 and there would be no cap hit for cutting him in 2019.

      • btw, this is the danger in the magical “reworking” of contracts. You save cap space in the early year(s), but at the expense of creating more guaranteed money that you will have to pay even if the player is injured or traded.

  • Rick Snider‏ @Snide_Remarks
    23s24 seconds ago

The Redskins are no longer the one thing that unites Washingtonians. It’s also hatred over how bad Metro has become. No matter how much money or time is spent on it they can’t get it right.

Old Man Snider took his funny pills this morning.

    • it has to serve too many masters

it is open for too long with too few people, and more of the buses need to be commuter-only time.

the non-DC localities fund it like a commuter system, and DC demands that it be open like an all the time mass transit system. they are stuck.

      • With out it, the city and whole region would grind to a halt when it comes to traffic. The biggest issue is that the suburbs have over-expanded with out providing their own infrastructure to balance things out (I’m looking at you Loudoun County).

        • You could replace the trains with automated electric buses

the system would be more flexible, and those buses could be used on certain (other) routes

but the more pragmatic decision would be to run it from like 5 or 6 to 8 or 9 and then, not sure what you do on the weekends with it.

but here’s the thing. we had relatives come to sight-see this summer for a day. they found that already Uber was FASTER AND CHEAPER than using the metro to move around the city (family of 4).

          • Cutting down the hours will kill the whole system, they are already seeing that with what’s going on now as they already reduce hours, not to mention, it basically destroys the cities economy because metro is the way working class folks still get around. I’ve got no faith in them putting into place electric buses after the disaster that was the H st. trolley.

The solution IMO is to start getting outside the box and think about ways to cut overhead. Maybe you start by replacing the escalators with stairs that don’t need constant repair. Maybe look into putting things like solar panels over all the tracks and outdoor facilities. Look into a zero-fare public transport model.

          • Also part of why uber is cheap is because they are low balling prices right now, in order to wreck the taxi system and public transit. But Uber loses billions a year and is subsidized mostly by anti-union investors.

  • Sanders would be an interesting pick up. Basically it would be an admission that we made a mistake in not re-signing DJax or Garcon, because Sanders is about the same age and has had about the same production, and would cost about the same as it would have cost to re-sign one of our guys.

    • Not necessarily. Garcon’s cap hit is 9.2 mil, Jackson’s is 11. Last year Garcon’s was 6.4, so maybe they could have squeaked him in… maybe, but what about the rest of his contract (almost defacto 3 year 29 million). Jackson was 12.5. In 2017, given what they wanted to do, it would have been prohibitive to sign both, and Jackson wouldn’t have fit at all.

Who really thought Pryor would be the bust that he was, and while maybe didn’t work out as well as they hoped, they thought they were improving the run D and DL in FA.

It would be an admission that they want to move Cousins, and get something for him, and that the WR corps in 2018 isn’t good enough.

    • But we’re not making that trade so your point is moot and as hard as you want to pat yourself on the back about Garçon and DJ, the correct move was to not bring them back

      • well, the way the Skins make that trade is
        1) they want to get something for Kirk
        2) Denver needs to move or cut salary to make the deal work anyway
        3) in order to make the deal happen Denver sweetens the deal through some kind of conditional draft pick, because they don’t want to pay part of Sander’s salary, so it’s
Denver gets: Kirk minus Sanders high salary
Washington gets: Sanders and conditional pick

But, I don’t think they make that trade either

  • Time to rework TW and RKERRIGAN

  • The signing bonus of the cap hit would stay with Denver in a trade, correct?

    • I think that’s how it works. Some portion of the bonus does at least. If that’s the case you can subtract about 2.7 M of each year of his contract.

      • A pro-rated portion of the bonus would stay with Denver, yes, but stop this nonsense. We don’t need to be trading for a 30 YO receiver.

  • There is a rumor that Emmanual Sanders is on the trade block to make cap space…

I doubt sincerely they’d trade him for anything, and I doubt anyone offers 2 ones for him. But I believe it would take at least 2 ones for them to even think about it. Chances of Foles being an Eagle in Sept.: 95.82%.
    ____________

Eagles should move Foles when his value is highest. Seeing as how Jimmy just got paid, I’m sure Foles with his shiny new Super Bowl MVP trophy is gonna want to start.

    • Dude, Foles will start in week 1 for Philly. Wentz ain’t gonna be ready and I bet Wentz starts 2018 on the PUP list.

Peter King is a fucking moron.

    • Smart move is to trade him, hire a solid backup who can play for Wentz while he’s still hurt, if that guy plays well, then you trade that guy too for something.

      • So you end up with Foles for a 1st round pick, Replacement (maybe you get a 4th round pick or something for them when CW is ready), and you still have a franchse QB after all that.

    • there are a handful of teams who should trade two 1s for Foles
      Eagles, Redskins, Jets, Vikings
the problem is, really only 1 of those teams prob does not have a QB by the time the tampering period begins.

And if you are the Jets, you look at Foles’ contract and maybe decide it’s so much cheaper over the next 3 years than a potential Cousins deal that it is worth the trade-off. Literally could sign two pro bowlers in FA, and many positions with the money difference.

alex, when do you imagine they figured out the heliocentricity thing? certainly not before the first 5 books of the bible were written. and certainly not by the time “jesus”was around.

          • Given that Judaism per-dates Heliocentrism by 2,000 years, hard to really say, it’s obvious they knew about it, they were part of the Greek empire, and at that point they weren’t fans of it. But there’s references to some of the constellations & stuff in the torah.

          • walter_in_fallschurch

            alex,
do you find it puzzling that god would not only not correct, but reinforce, people’s erroneous conceptions about the nature of the universe? heck, new testament authors thought the earth was flat.

          • heliocentric is purely a matter of where you lay out your coordinate system (“framing”). technically, the whole thing is moving around something and the various parts are all moving around each other. this would be more obvious if the coordinate system were set outside of the solar system, like maybe, the center of mass for the Milky Way.

…but it wouldn’t simplify the math… and relative to the mass of the Sun the other bits can have the math simplified significantly for almost any purpose I can think of. ‘The longest sentence in English literature is published in four volumes of Nigel Tomm’s novel The Blah Story (Volume 16, 17, 18 and 19). The sentence contains 2,403,109 words; 15,403,732 characters (with spaces); 3,248 pages.’

        • you should read some “transcripts” of the captioned, live technical events we sometimes do, they’re technical sessions and captioners are never technical people. hilarious. well, unless you’re hearing impaired.

    • is there an app for that?

      • Yes. Several. I’m using Samsung’s voice recorder app’s speech-to-text feature.

It also does simple recordings of whatever it hears. So say, you want to act like you’re listening to music on earbuds while secretly recording Russians….

    • Kon Steinberg over here.

    • We aren’t going to transcribe these things, period.

    • Or you could listen and enjoy (or not enjoy, that’s fine) each medium (text/video/audio) for its p[articular charm and utility. Just a thought.

  • If you guys want to get some insight into how the Hall of Fame voters think, the best thing to do is go back and listen to our interview with Rick Gosselin from the Dallas Morning News. He is a voter. It was this past off-season, but it should be under the interviews tab.

    shameless self-promotion (by proxy):
Here’s your chance to meet Redskins legend, Joe Jacoby. He will be in town giving remarks at the Grace Christian Academy Gala on April 29th at the McLean Hilton. Ticket information can be found online: http://www.GraceChristianAcademy.org/gala

my lovely wife is in charge of fund-raising for this little christian school up the street. no, really. seriously. last year i met joe, and joe gibbs, doug williams, dexter, doc, ken harvey, gary clark….

it really is a tiny little school, but one of the crazy rich benefactors has many redskin friends.

  • The league has always had an opposition stance on players. To them, they’re just the help. Hence why sports writers are giving priority over guys that actually played the game.

  • The list of Hall of Fame voters is in our Jacoby post under the Projecs tab at the top of the page. We didn’t update the list for this year, so it still has David Elfin listed. There are one or two different now, but the rest of them are correct. It’s probably 85% correct.

  • Larry Michaels or not…you look past the advocate and focus on the player. It’s bonkers that Jacoby’s on field dominance does not warrant with these voter d-bags

  • Fuck the media (no offense, lol) football people should vote, I agree.

  • Most people call for a strike because they don’t understand what all that entails. Labor doesn’t want to strike, either, very bad for business.

  • For entertainment purposes only.

Nebraska MBB covered again. I don’t play that game, but it seems to me is the easy money (by looking at ATS records) is you look at non-basketball schools that are having a good season and bet them because it appears like it is going to take the majority of a season for the line to catch up to Neb and Auburn. Again, FEPO.

  • Maybe there’s a list of voters and voter’s email addresses floating around out there….

  • Fire Larry! Send in BMitch!

  • Petty good point about NO S.

    • It’ll ruin your engine

      • Not if you run a forged crank, rods, and pistons, stronger springs, hardened valves. Larry Michael, for fuck’s sake, man!

        • After all of that, it’s going to be slower than a stock electric SUV.

Still confused why there’s no fuel cell push. Recharge an electric car in about 2 minutes, completely full, but putting ethanol or gasoline in it. Or some kind of bio-fuel. Less battery weight. Would open up the electric car market dramatically.

          • Why are you confused? – BP

          • Big Oil and Big Agriculture should be behind liquid-fuel powered hydrogen (electric) fuel cells like it was life or death. Chrysler was working on it in the late 90’s, but if we had Toyota working on it, they’d have 80 mpg global market Corollas for the last decade. And HS kids would be modding the electric motors. Though, I would guess there would be a gas to electric conversion bandwidth issue that if exceeded, would require $$$ to mod.

          • Look, they’re prepared to switch, just not ready to.

  • Fuck the media (no offense, lol) football people should vote, I agree.

  • Bruce jock-riding, yuck

  • Trey quinn is a wide receiver to look for in round 4 and Beyond

  • Dark Monkey Music

  • Possible mid round WR:

    Dante Pettis, Washington

If the Redskins are looking for a more polished receiver with an NFL-ready skill set, Pettis might be their guy. He’s reportedly going to test very well at the combine, but his athleticism shows off more in his route-running and short-area quickness than leaping or pure speed. Pettis has a nasty double-move to get behind defenders, and strong hands to pluck tough catches outside his frame.

At 6-1, 195 pounds, Pettis has a slight frame that could struggle with physical corners, but his releases are very polished and explosive against press coverage. He could potentially play on the outside and in the slot, allowing Gruden to be flexible with his personnel packages. Pettis is also an elite return man with nine punt return touchdowns at Washington.

  • The Wizards have a net rating of +17.8 in the 326 minutes this season when Wall, Beal, Oubre, and Porter have been on the floor together. It’s by far the Wizards’ most productive four-man combo on the team that’s played significant time together. In fact, it’s the most third-most effective four-man lineup in the ENTIRE NBA amongst lineups which have played 300 or more minutes together.
