Welcome Mr. Smith
The Redskins make their big move of the offseason, trading for Alex Smith and signing him to a 4 year contract. Finally resolving the teams influx quarterback situation. We break down the trade, and fans reactions.

Texas Longhorns football could be interesting next year. The new head coach has done an amazing job of recruiting.
In years past, the top High School prospects often signed with Oklahoma, Texas A&M or other SEC programs.
This year, seven of the top 10 High School players in Texas have committed to the Longhorns, including the top 5, which are all defensive backs.
In the article, Texas has the 3rd best recruiting class in the nation.
Move along – new post: http://www.thehogsty.com/2018/02/01/redskins-to-give-away-fuller-a-3rd-round-pick-and-kirk-cousins-for-an-older-kirk-cousins/
Hood is a workout fanatic . He’s strong as hell and he is relentless in the weight room. He’s a great rah rah type team guy . He sets a good example for young guys , doesn’t make waves. Problem is he obviously doesn’t make many plays . They’re going to have to let him go .
pretty much a liability on Sunday’s
Has the infamous 1000yd stare…..
Make him an assistant strength coach or something if he’s that valuable in the weight room. He would probably be thrilled to have it , if I had to guess.

Superbowl
Technically yes
They can throw waves of rushers at the qb
Consistently
Just looked at some photographs of an injury suffered here last night by one of our Mechanics that got his hand caught in a piece of equipment that is rotated with a hydraulic FloTorq. Severe lacerations to his hand and forearm, complete tear of his flexor digitorum tendon, no broken bones. Always de-energize and lockout equipment. The tendon looks like half a orange balled up on his forearm.
That sounds terrible, did he lose anything?
Almost. They’ll reattach the tendon tomorrow morning, probably a loss of movement, nerve damage, ect. He’s a great guy, I’ve known him about 10 years. They got him working with some dumbass kids. Somebody had a valve shifted and turned on the hydraulics, it automatically rotated before he could get clear. Reportedly.
Reads like meat and tendon were separated from the bone.
Pretty hard core photos.
I want waves of DL depth. Fresh horses that are almost as disruptive as the starters. Dontari Poe, Bennie Logan, Haloti Ngata, Star Lotulelei, and Sheldon Richardson are all FA’s among others. But I’m a little weary of signing FAs on the DL. Seems we always go cheap and get meh results.
If Tomsula can coach ’em up, then I’d rather draft at DL.
Da’Ron Payne
Vita Vea
Harrison Phillips
DaShawn Hand
Derrick Nnadi
Poona Ford
Maurice Hurst
I know I’m missing some others.
Pick two of them
#66HP
DPain
Payne, Ioannidis, J. Allen
Lanier II, POONA, AJ Francis
Something like that…
depends on if they spend money to bring Brown back
Got a strong feeling they will sign Brown.
We’re probably going to be stuck with McGee and McClain this year. Got Ioannidis, Lanier, and Allen, add another 1st round talent plus another one? Yeah, that would be good.
Only guy I think we can cut and there’s a cap savings is Hood.
Cut Hood whatever it costs. lol
FA for the most part will again prob to shore up the roster enough where they have some flex in the draft
not sure they can even do much at the WR1 in FA
Yes i agree DC. That would be a lot of dead cap if we drop both Mc’s.
Forgot about Francis who was pretty decent.
If they can’t find a #1 they need to find a couple of guys who they can rely on way more than Pryor and Grant.

Don’t you love how things come to light as we approach the draft? Too bad the lottery is rigged and not an algorithm. Technically, it being rigged causes algorithms, though. We’d win all the time.

Kinda feel bad for Terrell Pryor because he works really hard at his craft. Problem is that he may just not have the actual talent…..
to be fair
a 40 year old man that’s not in great shape that never deadlifted consistently ever can go into a gym and in six-nine months do two plates 4x after building up to it,
maybe not as smoothly
but I did just that last year
I can deadlift 225
He’s turning into rg with these tweets about lifting
all at once, I don’t think a receiver prob needs to do more than that, but I also don’t think it’s particularly impressive for an athlete, though as smooth as he did it, to be fair (ignorning my post below) that’s clearly not an attempt by him at a max out. but that’s (max lift) also not a thing anymore for training.

smartest thing I think I ever read on PFT
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/02/01/eagles-patriots-both-relied-on-analytics-to-help-them-reach-the-super-bowl/
Is it a suicide note by Mike Florio?
Floating the cursor over that is all I need to see.
“analytics research, which found that the benefits of a fourth-down conversion usually outweigh the costs of failing on fourth down.”
That knowledge is as old as dirt. I guess “Analytics” is that new buzzword that covers anything that involves data. Well, the problem with that is then this isn’t a new paradigm. Pop econ books published this stuff like a decade ago, which means even that new hotness side of it is much older than that (because books are published long after white papers and journal articles are published on the subject)
Next they’re going to talk about how going for it instead of kicking a FG is usually a good decision too (because 3+3 is less than 7)
Summary:
“The reality is that Belichick “has expressed his disdain” for analytics not because Belichick doesn’t believe in analytics, but because Belichick doesn’t believe in letting the rest of the world in on the Patriots’ strategic thinking.”
“In the NFL draft, Belichick prefers trading down to trading up, and he particularly likes to trade a pick this year for a higher pick next year. That suggests that he’s studied the economic phenomenon of hyperbolic discounting, something football people don’t necessarily know a lot about but that a hedge fund guy like Adams understands.”
That suggests someone learned a new buzzword. You’ve never ever had to study how to gamble other people’s money in order to understand value. It just takes patience.
LOL, a belligerent blowhard calling Grant and Danny just said “excuse me my teeth hurt so I got to keep my mouth closed while talking”

The maker of an internet-connected sex toy was accused in a federal lawsuit Wednesday of secretly gathering detailed data about its customers’ use of the product, including when and how long they use it.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco, alleges that Lovense, a division of Hytto Ltd., based in Hong Kong, collects and records “highly intimate and sensitive data regarding consumers’ personal use” of Lush. Lush is a vibrator that users — or their partners operating remotely — control through a Bluetooth-enabled iPhone and Android phone using an app called Body Chat.

Post-draft Hamsters:
“We totally reached by drafting [name of player] at #13… you could get him in the 2nd round on all the mock draft sites, sometimes 3rd.”
That’s my line!
We totally reached on Ryan Anderson
I think with Anderson, we spent a 2nd round pick on a position that we already had 1 great and 3 decent guys at.
they got happy with the def pick
You’ll run out of sugar, eventually.
I think they want to just keep drafting rushers for that 2nd spot rather than a big payday opposite Kerrigan.
BA with the orangutan arms.
As it turns out, but when they drafted him, he was supposed to be an alpha dog type leader; but for that to work, your play has to be good enough… to play

STOP IT! NANANANANANANANANANANANA!
When you got interior oline guys that dominate their position…don’t risk them slipping out of the 1st. Grab’em up. Sure, you’re going to miss out on whomever the hell, but, you’re getting a 10 year starter.
Football 101
I will be thrilled if they take Nelson or Vea. Build the lines.
Even more so if they move back and do it.
I think we could move back as far as 17 and be reasonably assured of getting one of the top 3 DTs. If you get into the 20s there’s a risk that they’ll all be gone, but you’d still be able to take a Harrison Phillips or Taven Bryan.
Arizona at 15, might be the one team behind us looking to move up. But to 13?
One trade I get offered a lot on Fanspeak is our 13 for Buffalo’s 21 and 22. I’d take that in a hot minute.
Well hell, if they’re that anxious…
what else they got to offer?
Chargers and Atlanta….
I see a lot of folks, Wapo included, saying how Smith is a better runner than Kirk, but can we expect that to continue into the future as he ages?
Brunell was a great scrambler early in career, but by the time he got to DC, not so much.
He’ll be fine. Will still be running like a gazelle in his 40s.
– Hamsters
He wont be here in his 40’s.
He’ll still be running, though. That guy just likes to get places fast.
I’d rather he run like a lion, or big ass dog, something alittle tougher….
Gazelles top out at 60 mph
I’ll take escapability over tougher
Until…….
That’s what big blocking water buffalo are for.
We have a few confused Wilderbeasts mixed in there, though.
Like that one fella that fell in love with that lady giraffe?
He’s a meerkat
Yes
Age never slowed Steve Young down from running.
The guys landing on QBs are a lot bigger now, though.
Never slowed down Darrell Green either. So, there’s that.
I just don’t know that he’s going to be better than Kirk was as runner. About the same would be my guess.
I think we’ll see more running from Smith. Time will tell.
(insert ridiculous strawman argument about Green/Fuller)
The hits to his head did though.
Well, dang. I’ve totally put off work I need to get to. Was just intending to set up an account for now. This place is going to be a black hole for me.
Enjoy

Not what I want, but, I’d not criticize grabbing Nelson in the 1st.
If he’s there, I think you have to take him. Nice balance vs. Scherff. He and TWill would maul the left side of the line.
I’d be okay with that. Although I haven’t seen a mock yet that has him making it out of the top 10.
Love it
Good
13 is a nice spot for someone to trade up to for a QB that slipped out of the top 12.
Or for Vita Vea 🙂
To high for him.
Maybe, he’s hyped like a fresh set of Jordans
By 4-6 picks in most mocks – they show him going around 17. That puts 13 within a decent margin of error to take him.
🙂
True
What you get with Alex Smith is a floor. At this point in his career, you know where his floor is and it is in a good spot. His ceiling may already be set, so you don’t get the dreamy promise of “what he could be” like you could get with a Nick Foles or a Case Keenum. But I’m fine paying for the floor, and put off chasing the dream for at least a few years…need a break from the drama of the RG3-Kirk era.
Everyone knows I’m big on building on guys floors, it’s how Rizzo’s fixed the Nats and I think it’s how every sports team should operate.
Case Keenum over achieved I doubt you get that again. Foles is a backup.
Right, I’m not “dreamy” about either one of those kids.
I think Foles can be a starter in the right system, but it’s getting a little late for him to find it.
This draft has a few top DT’s guys and by all accounts they will be available late teens to early 20’s. Trade back pickup another 2nd and still get Vea or Payne.
I like that.
Teams are more focused on edge guy then DT’s.
By what accounts?
Top 3 Dline picks will not be there in the 20s.
Payne and Vea will be there because they aren’t pass rushers and their will be a run on QB’s.
This is exactly it. We don’t need to pick up another college DE/OLB type, we need run stuffers and space occupiers.
What you need is Harrison Phillips.
Allen is better then both and was their at 18.
At least though you’re talking about a getting a 2nd and not trading back for a mid to late 3rd.
Which is still crazy talk btw.
You trade down in the first from 13 you will get a 2nd not a 3rd.
Depends on how far you trade down. If you are only going back 2 spots you probably won’t even get a 3rd. If you are trading to the 20s, you are probably right.
Would you have preferred a similar trade for Nick Foles? If no, is that primarily because it would mean trading with the Eagles? *Foles is 29… and… playing in the Superbowl. And also, not first rodeo in playoffs, FWIW.
No.
I really like Smith’s skills running boots and run/pass options.
Plus he is better at running to get first downs then Kirk.
Kirk was (is) a better runner than people give him credit for. Alex Smith has better escapability, though.
Kirk has enough athleticism to pick up a first down and move in the pocket, he’s not nearly as likely to rip off a 20 yard drive-saving run to get into winning FG range
Yes, that’s right
I trust Smith more than Foles.
Smith isn’t worth what we gave up, and Foles is worth less than Smith, so… no.
No way
Foles career has been all over the place. Waaaaaaaay to unproven to sink 71 mill guaranteed into. Alex Smith is a proven commodity.
Only if by similar you mean a straight up trade….Compton for Foles
It would have to be Foles and Peterson
I’d take that.
heck no.
for me, it’s the Eagles
but the thing is, they’re probably going to get whatever it is they’re going to get for Foles anyway
maybe the biggest drawback is that it’s easier to sunset Smith when (if?) you find a franchise QB, where Foles is another Cousins… I dunno… is HE… or isn’t HE a franchise…?
So…we still go QB in the first round?
Nah. Unless Rosen falls to us, which he won’t.
I don’t see anyone falling to 13 worth it.
we would have to see what happens in FA and a possible Foles trade.
could have like 3 less QB needy teams by the first hours of free agency
Large gap between 1st rounder’s and the rest of the class.
i think there’s 4 really sure fire 1st round picks. Allen is falling like a rock.
Yeah, I actually saw him in round 2 yesterday.
Completely depends on what position gets a run on it early.
Obviously. But if Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield and Jackson are all gone, I don’t think anyone else is worth it at 13, and I don’t know if Jackson would have been a good fit.
Jackson would have been a great fit, in my opinion, but it doesn’t matter now. They shouldn’t go QB in rd 1 or 2 this year.
I can still live with Rd 2 if they traded back and recoup a 3rd round pick in the 1st.
They shouldn’t draft a QB in rd 2 either. They need to be thinking only a day 3 developmental guy this year. We have a good starter for the next couple years at least and a whole lot of other holes to fill.
No.
Dline again? I’d be down with that.
Bingo.
DL or RB, IMO.
I’ve been saying this for about a month now… at least
I’d prob be willing to move back, but not too far if there were a handful of guys I really wanted, but with all the QB myopia, maybe you get another “Allen” fall to you and then, well, trading back may not make sense
DLine 1st round is never a bad idea.
DLINE Foreva!
Unless we need to Fix Da’ Oline…then it’s OLINE FOREVA!
Agreed
Dline 1st and 2nd. Then, pick up some weapons and protection for the QB.
One of the best things about the trade was it wasn’t leaked until it there was agreement. Granted, it can’t become official until March but not a whisper about it until afterwards.
all the same, I think the speed of leakage caught the FO off guard, and because I don’t THINK they went into discussions thinking they were going to trade Fuller, it got to social media before they could talk with Fuller / Agent
By afterwards you mean the second it was done.
As in the deal probably took a few days, we heard nothing until, yes, the second there was an agreement.
The worst thing about it was…Fuller finding out on twitter.
True. That’s not cool. He was even positively responding to the trade (before he knew it was him).
I think that happens a lot now. If you think about it, you don’t tell a guy “hey, we might trade you tonight” because if you don’t, you don’t want him to know at all. because they prob really didn’t want to trade him.
Yes, not cool.
Holy shit, he found out he was traded on Twitter??
Yeah because it got leaked before the Redskins could contact his agent. It happens.
The only people who could have leaked it were the Redskins and Chiefs FOs. Dick move by someone.
Yeah but those are the times we live in.
True
The Chiefs leaked it to a local reporter. Within minutes, it blew up.
Same thing happened in the NBA
No it’s only the Redskins this happens to couldn’t be anyone else.
That is the way now things get leaked while their still happening,.
Fuller’s dumb for going to twitter in the first place. Twitter is stupid people’s way of putting their foot in their mouth in front of the whole world. It used to be that human beings would take some time to reflect, contemplate and see how a situation plays out before announcing their “reaction” to it. So if you’re not going to do that, then the blame is on you.
Blame his agent or Bruce… whomever you think was or wasn’t available…
Oh, and the Chiefs for leaking it
Or the Chiefs for leaking it if they did, I mean who knows how this stuff gets out so fast but it always does.
It’s either the Redskins FO or the Chiefs FO. If you can’t get hold of either the player or his agent (and tell me an agent won’t answer a call from his client’s team 24×7), then you don’t leak it until you can tell the folks involved.
I don’t go round in the agent circles so the parenthetical part would be pure speculation on my part
Agents can’t necessarily be available 24/7. Most agents are just attorneys with an agency on the side.
Didn’t want to catch Kirk Cousins jaggin off in celebration!
I wonder if this is Dougie Williams 1st Big transaction as Sr. VP of player personnel
Probably
Flounder would know.
He’s got the FO dialed in. If he says it, you can book it.
That is, the opposite of it.
Well I doubt they did this without Williams but maybe they did.
Shaken
Nope just stating the obvious it’s not that hard.
Somke people think Jay had no say in this so that tells you people will believe any crap they hear.
I’m sure if it turns out to be a bad trade that Allen had nothing to do with it.
It is. Feinstein wrote about it in WaPo.

I knew going into the Last Jedi that people had complaints. Personally, none of that bothered me. It’s a good movie. But what did jump out and make me wonder how the hell it ended up in there, was when Vice-Admiral Holdo uttered ‘God speed’.

I like to hit up Whole Foods for good beer.
Surprisingly…
Whole Paycheck has some damn competitive pricing on their beers. It’s not at all unusual for them to have the best price compared to other grocers in the area.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a beer there that other grocers carry, so I don’t know how or what to compare it to
I’ve had beer from them, it was decent, but it wasn’t great.
Bad forecasting is all that it is. Probably a human error. Alexa will get it righted.
The issue hasn’t hit the one near me yet.
WF implemented an new inventory management system which they call “order-to-shelf”
the major goal was to reduce spoilage on perishable items which exceeded normal industry rates
but the end result has been to cause inventory shortages across the entire store
this changes predates the Amazon purchase of WF

https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2018/2/1/16959392/chiefs-fans-thanking-alex-smith-in-a-unique-way
Chiefs fans are giving money to Alex Smith’s charity to “thank him” for his time as their QB.
Should we coordinate doing something for Kirka/Kurt?
Yeah, Kirk is walking away from here with what…48 mill from the last 2 years? Dude can donate to his own charity and cut me a check while he’s on his way out the door.
Kirk Schmirk, Fuck that guy!
I tried to make a donation to Kirk’s charity, but it was intercepted.
Ahwell
Maybe donate $7.09
My agent tells me I should wait and see where the market goes.
My intention is to make a long term donation to Kirk’s charity. I mean, why wouldn’t I want to donate to Kirk’s charity? But I need to feel peace about it and see what the direction of the charity is first. And I’m also listening to the Lord and to my agent about it. And I would be foolish to not explore other options out there too. But the short answer is – Yes! Of course I want to donate to the charity!
Once Kirk signs his bazillion dollar FA contract and the Niners pay out the wahzoo to extend Garapolo, no one will be talking about 71 mill guaranteed for A.Smith; and it will mean even less as the salary cap jumps. He’s going to do just fine in Gruden’s system, and I’m looking forward to drafting and developing a younger guy and going into FA and the draft like a normal organization.
Nope and I bet only 50 or so of that 71 is fully guaranteed at signing the rest will be for injury gurantees.
Yeah. Will miss Fuller, but as good a year as he had, he’s still a bit of an unproven commodity, IMO. Never played much on the outside and one good year is hardly a cornerstone guarantee. Even so, I’d rather be on the hunt for a second/slot CB than a starting QB.
Yeah agreed he can be repalced.
I don’t know that Kirk doesn’t end out with the 9ers. Garropolo is a full free agent, just like Kirk, but Kirk has way more tape and experience.
Garapolo has way more tape and experience…with the Niners. Besides, they spent a 2nd on him and I’m sure they’re not going to jsut toss that aside.
I think that certainly will feel like a burden, but as of right now… now now… that’s a sunk cost. Gone.
Both are free agents.
it would be hilarious if Garropolo signs with the Patriots
In this case, since it is Kyle Shannahan, prob whichever Kyle likes more would be the choice. Unless one or the other QBs are way out of line with salary demands. the Niners are loaded.
No chance they will tag him.
Great idea! Works like a charm!
-Redskins FO
You don’t give up a second for the guy for 4 weeks without knowing your keeping him.
Lynch already said their plan is to do a long term contract
Well of course but if they can’t they will tag him.
the Redskins have planned to do a LTD with Cousins for two years
plans change
Obviously anything can change. But Garapollo played excellently in their system, they have a bazillion bucks to signs FAs, they need a cornerstone franchise QB, and Garapollo is 3 years younger than Kirk. It’s gonna happen
sure, I THINK that’s right
but it ain’t done until the ink is on the paper
and I WANT him to sign with the Patriots, just because
it would be hilarious
Don’t be so sure!
-Vinny
My hope is that a full guarantee of $71M of $94M isn’t the real agreement, because that’s a massive guarantee percentage. Hopefully it really is just an injury guarantee.
that number would hint that the 3rd year of the extension (so, Year 4) is probably only g’d for injury maybe even year 2, meaning that it’s a defacto 3 year deal because of the dead cap
then you trade him to Cleveland for a 3rd round pick after year 3
He’s coming here with about 14 mill already for 2018 season. I don’t know if that’s part of the 71. Really need to see details of the contract
Can we use this one? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9408c74e5962eb403ca809b591172ef5a919f838bb9fe26b37bf47779dfdd546.png
you can if you want. I’m not gonna put in the extra work.
Drawing up the “Hamster Club” text in the feathers, took a lot of time.
Greg would stroke out.
Extra work?
It’s three clicks.
Soooo much work!
I could “strong arm” people into doing their own thing by making the default a pic of Dan Snyder
Do it!
Can we add a Tomahawk?
I will say the Mohawk is cool, very well done.
It’s free, take it……give it to Greg, he loves knuckleheads.
Don’t know what the react to Smith has been up here, but as I posted on WaPo; it’s a reasonable move.
FYI, that’s Greg’s avatar…
lol, it’s the default.
sshhh!
‘Your hamster is a PUSSY!’
your still made I didn’t give it an angry face?
^ No, never was. I’m just being a richard.
It gave me this avatar automatically.
You’re much better than that.
I’m not really
Why are you posting on Wapo is the better question?
That was earlier before Moe informed me of the migration.
Got nice to have you here.
Nice to see you funk.
Yeah, nice to see that a new home was made outside of the evil empire of WaPo. I remember when there was an attempt to migrate over to CSN or something but that did not take. I guess it took the bold American move of colonizing a new part of the internet
Yeah Alex was able to create this for us.
The mean up here is we’re glad the drama with Kirk is over; no one seems to love or hate the trade, some disappointment in losing Fuller; some discussion about a POSSIBLE comp pick for losing Kirk.
We definitely will get a 3rd round comp pick when Kirk signs somewhere, but it will be 2019 draft
No, not defintiely funk. The comp system is fairly complex, it’s bassed on how many ‘Compensatory Free Agents’ a team loses vs. how many CFA’s they sign.
I see. Was just going with reports. I guess what they were saying is that is the best we can salvage at this point.
Yes, that’s a good summary. The most we will get for Kirk is a comp 3rd in ’19, the least is nada.
We can have fun here. Just, don’t take it too far.

You bastard now I want to see titties.
See, what’d I tell ya? – Walter
Where’d you dig up that photo of Kirk?
That was the girl that popped Kirk’s cherry back in Michigan.
Looks kinda like Rebecca Griffin
Oh, the tangled webs we weave……..
Is that Andre Smith about to get ready to run his 40 at the draft?

Huge tracts of land.
P1, good to see you made it over here!
Moe, just let me know there was a migration from WaPo to here. Didn’t know hogsty had a comments sec now. I’m overseas so I’m on at odd hours. Way to go fellas!
Welcome
Zup funk, glad you’re here. This is a really good site, you’ll enjoy it.
Hey Funk, good to see you!
Good on Moe
that was classy of him he needs to get over himself and come join us over here though
I never thought I’d be the one to kill the Insider, but turns out I was.
We did the hail Mary shots, you’re all set.
Poacher
‘We can be heroes. Just for one day.’
Eh, RI destroys itself
The Insider died because WaPo abandoned it for over a week.
Also – I’m pretty sure they don’t care whether we’re there or not.
They probably were able to let their mods go.
“they don’t care”
——————-
i think this is the key.
it had to be done Alex, it’s in a much better place now not suffering any longer she had to be put down
Why would you take a second round pick when you can take a guy who has shown he has the skills AND get a third round pick?
Check out this cool rabbit!
because if it was Cleveland’s pick it’s almost a 1st rounder?
I agree with your sentiment, but people understand that good players don’t always work out on new teams and aren’t the sure thing either
A 22yr old who just played lights out for a year at corner is way more sure a thing than an unchosen pick, though.
I think so, but I also think a lot of teams choose one of the first picks on Day 2 over that package.
I mean forget Fuller. You are making a trade. Do you want a mid 3rd round pick and, if the fit is right, starting slot corner, or do you want a the chance to pick a starting lineman?
But none of that mattered, because Smith must have had to agree to the trade, so he agreed to the trade that included the LTD. Cleveland wanted him as like a 1 year rental.
Granted he played well last year but his knee could be an issue down the road.
We got Squinns plugged back in yet? Maybe tie his shoelaces together so he doesn’t get too far away from the wall?
Twitter news: Browns offered one of their 2nd-round picks to the Chiefs for Alex Smith
Yesterday called. They want their news back.
All I saw yesterday was the Denver offer of a 2nd and a CB.
Pretty sure that Browns news was out yesterday. I remember it from yesterday.
Only on Tuesdays…….
the KC Star pretty much broke all the news for this, but some people prefer to cite secondary sources
the Cleveland story was by a Cleveland reporter, so if it wasn’t ESPN, prob didn’t notice
So the Chiefs are an upstanding, classy FO and didn’t send a guy who did right by them to the pit of misery.
or did they….?
HA!
They don’t drink Bud out there. Boulevard Brewing is their beer of choice.
I’m going to guess Budweiser outsells ALL of Boulevard’s flavors by a fantastic margin
Outsells maybe, but that’s not how beer is measured.
OK then.
See date.
Will Hernandez will not be there in the 20s.
The pukes will take him at 19. Assuming he’s still on the board and not already selected by the 9rs.
3rd round pick, every time
-First Pick
He shined at the Senior Bowl and everyone is going to get a look at him at the combine.
I was kidding.
But did that said 3rd round pick shine enough to move from the 3rd round prog to mid 1st round OG?
Did Derek Rivers go from 7 to 3 last year? Yup.
Not
Doubt that, but he could go late in the 1st round. I’m afraid the Boys will take Vea.
They need help on the Oline.
He fits. And they know it.
Testing 1.2.3. Testing.
I had a comment on Doug Williams plan it says is posted but didn’t seem to work.
The point was that I think Williams really values depth at QB rather than 1 superstar.
Ban check passed 😉
Honestly, that is stupid.
Great, lets get two backups instead of one solid starter!
Worked in 87
WAY different game.
meh, way different team
And if he’s still stuck in the 80’s football mindset, he should be shown the door right quick.
I think it’s more that they want to be a QB factory, and keep bringing in talent.
What the fudge is the point. More often than not, you need top quality QB play to get you there.
unless you have a ferocious defense and great rushing attack and tremendous special teams play you have to have a very good quarterback in the NFL to win. if Doug Williams really did say that, that would be troubling.
Agree. See comment below.
It was something Doc told us when we had him on.
And what makes Doug Williams think that this organization would be known as a quarterback Factory a good quarterback Factory
This whole concept is completely assinine.
A Quick F5 seems to do the trick.
OK. Every time I try to respond to someone else’s post, I get a message that there was an internal error. Then when I try to repost it, I get a message that “You have already made this comment.”
Gonna refresh and see if I keep having this problem.
Buck! You’re up, buddy.
Working again after a refresh.
I’m having that issue too
Same thing was happening to me. That’s why I went @@disqus_u40LDG46ue:disqus down there.
You can bank that the Redskins draft a QB this year… they seem to every year. Then we’ll HAVE the next Nate Sudfeld
Next late round prostyle guy, from Winter Park Orlando, FL
@@disqus_u40LDG46ue:disqus
I’m more about the fact that he’s a short-term solution than anything. One with a big price.
Still going to have to wait and see the deets on the contract, but damn….we’re looking at a $20m+ backup qb in year 3 and eating a shit-ton of dead money in year 4 and 5.
What is BC’s IQ?
One two
One
– Lance
Oooohh… you and NPI are on the same wavelength.
That’s his joke
Dammit all to hell. I forcefully retract that joke.
Owned
PRetty sure there will be little dead money in years four and five. Bruce is pretty good with the contracts.
the key is that the ONLY g’d number I’ve seen is for Injury
that’s not “g’d at signing”
and we’re counting unhatched chickens with “backup QB” in year 3
Better the OL and the running game will follow
Nelson if he’s there at 13 or drop and get Hernandez in the 20s
All in for El Mauler in week one.
We don’t have RBs who are good enough and we need to draft one.
Steve Thomas Team Captain alex35332 • 3 minutes ago
They should draft the next Nate Sudfeld this year.
____________________
That’s silly. They should draft the next Tom Brady.
Sorry for bringing it to the top, but it kept telling that I had already posted the comment (even after re-freshing).
Poor mouse control, will get manhandled…
wth?
No.
Too late for that. We’ve proposed to Smith and are already married to McCoy.
Next year will be the year to get a rookie QB.
Kon, come back from the edge. First you wanted rid of KC. Now we get rid of him, and now you’re pissed about the price paid for his replacement.
the idea of “the next nate sudfeld” cracks me up.
Nate Sudfeld will never be a starter in this league.
No, when Steve and I talk about that, we are talking about a prospect you groom to be your number 2.
Then franchise tag him for 2-3 years after his rookie contract and watch him go somewhere else.
If I’m not mistaken, the Chiefs traded a third rounder in 2013 to SF for Alex Smith.
His price has gone up….
That’s what happens when you’ve got narrow eyes focused on that one good season instead of, you know, looking at his whole career.
Meanwhile, the Chief’s FO is still fapping themselves silly and their fans are jumping up and down having a party over getting Fuller and a pick.
They did it right. Get your next QB in and under contract, then ship your old one off while he’s under contract and you can get compensation for him.
The Redskins did not do it right, and haven’t for some time.
Decades…
F-L-E-E-C-E-D
This was the best the Skins could do considering how badly they managed the KC situation the past few years.
Maybe we overpaid a little, but didn’t have a good choice.
We had a good choice. But didn’t take it.
the irony being that the Skins “mismanaged” the KC situation by being good businessmen and not overpaying for something that didn’t have a lot of certainty. and an athlete who did things a bit differently.
did the Steelers mis-manage the Bell situation?
They overpaid Kirk with those tags…
Well, they paid a little more to avoid a longer commitment. The problem with the two tags were that neither side had to negotiate seriously prior to tagging because the tag was too close to the market rate that Kirk thought of himself, and he had played just well enough to want to see more. that changed this year. this year the FTY3 is too high and now, well… where Kirk wants to start and when didn’t work with the Skins plans for a QB.
unless their new QB sucks and they’re back to pre-Smith days of 5-6 wins
Any Chiefs free agents on offense we’d like to try to get following Alex Smith?
Smith penciled in to start next 2 years, almost no matter what. Late in the draft this year, I’m drafting a kid who I want to develop to replace McCoy when his contract expires after next season. Next draft I’m looking for the replacement QB in the 1st or 2nd round.
They should draft the next Nate Sudfeld this year.
Richmond Spider, or Chase Litton.
Exactly, only maybe someone with better mechanics.
I think this COULD be a good plan depending on who they see in next years draft. If a guy like Luke Falk is there in the 4th this year… you take him and start developing NOW.
There’s a few guys this draft you can do it with I think. I like Falk. If we can make some trades back to recoup a recently lost draft pick, I’d be okay even getting Rudolph in the 2nd round, he may be worth a gamble. But the more I watch of him the more I like Flowers, even though he’s a bit small.
he probably wouldn’t start until year 3, maybe that’s OK
Also sources doesn’t think we will go for Brown at $10M/year
expects us to take another run at Bennie Logan
Well that is news.
Brown isn’t getting 10mil he was better last year and wasn’t injured and the best he got was a 1 year deal from us for like 2mil.
I don’t think anybody else would either .
What’s the gap?
$1 – 2 million?
$2 – 3 million?
mike5790 AustinSkin • 25 minutes ago
Smith has also had a knock that he’s a check down guy who is not going to try and gun it in there
one outcome for that is the relatively low turnovers
___________
This was true prior to last year. That’s why in fantasy, you never took a Chief’s WR – never any production. 2017, that changed. Not sure why, but it did.
That is also on Reid since his offense is built to get the ball out quickly you see once he gave up play calling they opened up the offense and Smith was throwing down field much more.
I wonder if any of the difference is due to Doug Pederson leaving.
I saw some QGC posting last night are they a former regular or someone new
seemed like mostly a dumbshit from their posts
Was on TI as same.
It’s like reading a telegraph.
Older guys look fine. Look like they’ll keep on playing at a high level. Then BAM…they hit the wall.
But okay. We got us a Tom Brady who’s going to be playing strong into his 40s.
We don;t need him to play until he is 40 because he will only be here 3 years at most.
and there is some possibility he might be 4-5 years and if he’s playing OK so be it
but it prob means they wiffed on a draft QB
I doubt it but yeah.
lol…formatting gone off the rails. Fixed it.
I doubt Tom Brady plays much longer
there’s a big difference between being 33-34 and 40-41 for most people
so according to sources the CB situation will go down something like this
Norman at one spot
Dunbar/Moreau to compete for other starting spot (Dunbar may win that)
loser of above get tryout as slot CB
expect team to sign an veteran CB (role player type guy)
draft a CB
that’s his analysis of situation
Sounds remarkably like what we discussed in a certain podcast I heard about.
Draft Greg Stroman late.
Sounds odd since we have had FA’s or the draft yet.

The Redskins need to bite the bullet and spend either a 1st or 2nd round pick on a top RB.

Like I said yesterday. First Round: DL; Second Round: RB. That order; that priority.
If Jay will use the guy then I agree.

First Mack Brown and now Kendall Fuller?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…………………………….____!
That’s all you got?
If the Redskins aren’t careful QGC will hang himself
The key thing Jay is this job doesn’t ride solely on developing a brand new QB from scratch
so… who is going to be our qb in 2018? 2019? 2020? oh, that’s right – alex smith. it’s kinda nice just knowing that.
Ikr
-Jay
Well I don’t know about 2020.
he will still probably be on the team, as the whether he starts, that might hinge on whether or not they swung and missed on a draft QB
Can’t even begin to project that far.
Sure you can you act like the guy is 50, he will be fine for the next 3 years.
I’m gonna say it one more time…
Eli was fine at 34. Hit the wall before 36. And is absolute garbage at 37.
My cheerios taste like urine!
Sorry.
– POTUS
Ha!
On the bright side, he cared enough to comment!
Yeah well who is to say Smith is Eli plus Eli has an awful o-line and has for years.
For argumentative purposes… does anyone have any knowledge of who the draftable QB’s are coming out of college next year?
yes
Sweet… argument over
expect Eason, Stidham, Lock, Bentley to potentially be available
In 2 years that Georgia Rookie will be something
Don’t forget the Flyin’ Hawaiian from Bama
Small sample size from him but he looks good so far
Deondre Francios
QGC has all that info for ya
He knows how the good scouts evaluate. They compare junior years in college to sophomore years in the NFL
You know who we need? That gut who said something like “that’s when scouting became like second nature for me.” Forget that guy’s name, but the post was classic.
That was comedic genius… except he was serious.
i think that was vinny posing as a hamster.
Wasn’t that Talent Elevator?
No… TE was Beep… he never said that
I know TE became beep, I thought it was him.
Logic something or other .
It was that guy Logiquacious . Same dude that was gonna meet Flounder at Red Robin
Ah yes… the young boy
That is who it was!
Yeah , we just called him Logic . The irony .
I’d take an apple in the first.
Does QGC stand for Queer Guy Crew?
I’ve been saying I want Rypien as a development prospect out of Boise
Since two years ago, lol
This would be year 2.
Since early last year!
3 years as a starter, going into Sr year next season
30-10 record, 9,800 yards 62% comp%. 60 TD, 22 Int.
I remember you talking about him since I got on TI.
doesn’t he have a brother or something who played for an nfl team? i forget which. he did well, as i recall.
Uncle.
Jeez
gotcha, alex. can he throw a deep ball like mark?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_RP-IzB89c
OR even better, his last game vs Oregon, I like that he’s a quick pass guy, little too much inside the pocket work.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXbhmZ9W8sQ
Maybe we draft our rookie QB next year.
Where does that leave Gruden? That’s giving him just one season to groom and another season to pucker his ass and hope for the best.
Smith is going to be spendy ass bridge for this organization.
Not once the rest of the QB deals get done this off-season. He’s going to look like as much of a bargain as one could expect for a guy like Smith.
He’s not all that though.
In terms of what’s/who’s out there in FA and the draft and knowing Kirk was a goner, I give the Skins a high grade for stabilizing that position for multiple seasons with a dude who can help a team win on day 1.
Kirk ain’t worth $30 mil per…
He is better then anyone else we could have signed.
As it sits, his deal appears to be just under a 13.5% deal
Staffords deal was 16%
Franchise QB > Transition QB
Really what has Stafford ever won
Franchise QB that has never won anything… even with one of the best receivers… ever
right. 16% seems to be the upper rate for franchise QB, Carr was 15%
Stafford is not a franchise QB he hasn’t done jack.
That’s like saying Kirk is a franchise QB.
Though it helps a little, still doesn’t solve Jay’s running game woes.
Or special teams, or defense
Teams…….why was he not replaced?
Needs to be relieved?
Yeah, better
the defense will be fine, so long as not everyone not named Kerrigan doesn’t get hurt again; but there’s room for improvement there
Nope… without Fuller we are DOOMED!
Did they stock?
Not saying that, but he’s a really good db. We need another d-lineman and ILB and safety imo.
I can probably fix the running game
1. slightly more practice
2. use first round pick on a LT and move Twill to LG
What LT do you take at 13?
Derp Flerpreich
there are prob only 2, maybe 3 first round OT
the kid from OU or the kid from ND if they are there, if not, maybe change of plans
wait
TRADE Up!!! TRADE Up!!!
I didn’t say it was the perfect plan.
..
Why not put Nsekhe at LT and move TW to LG?
Pretty much everyone has posed that question at one time or another.
Ok, haven’t been on here much to see every post.
The Redskins need to bite the bullet and spend either a 1st or 2nd round pick on a top RB.
I’m kinda where you are with the Fuller thing, on that. We’ll see.
I don’t disagree, but we also need to upgrade the DL, replace a CB, find a QB of the future, possibly get an ILB and figure out the LG spot.
They do need a new DL and should spend either a 1st or 2nd round pick on on
CB isn’t that big of a need. It’s the one area on defense in which they have good depth. They should and no doubt will probably draft one somewhere, but it doesn’t need to be a priority.
QB isn’t a priority this year. Spend a back of the draft pick on a developmental guy.
ILB – yes, they need one.
LG – sure, but not at the top of the draft again
We had depth at CB, you can argue at this point you’ve just got rid of that depth. They need to replace who we’ve lost.
I don’t think we’re as deep at CB as you believe. Norman needs to show he can return to form, Bree – if he does stay here – is a penalty machine. Fuller is gone. The rest are… well, the rest.
The rest are, progressing.
Josh was getting torched all year.
No he wasn’t. He had a couple bad games, right after he came back from injury.
I think part of his diaphragm is no longer attached to his rib cage.
You are either lying or ill-informed.
Before injuries, Norman was balling at an elite level.
I think he played okay before the injury, and terrible after.
So an All-Pro CB needs to prove himself to you after breaking ribs and coming back early?
Without Fuller WE GO 0-16 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like I said, draft a CB. But it doesn’t need to be at the top of the draft.
I am more and more into Sony Michel if he’s there in the 2nd.

Alex Smith plays to win games. Not afraid to throw in tight windows. Uses his legs if he must.
Kirk plays to protect his stat line

Fred Smoot’s latest voyage?
Blown right the fuck outta the water
i have a friend whose job it is to blow stuff up and then figure out what happened: all the stresses and weak points, etc….
We have a company down here that does that for the Navy. They use an old rock quarry.
he’s also had years where the offense has struggled in the red zone
Alex appears not to surrender the booty when a pass rusher makes contact, also. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
19 Fourth Quarter Comebacks, 23 Game-Winning Drives
That’s the stat for Alex Smith… can;t find the one for Kirk… anyone have any ideas?
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/comeback.cgi?player=CousKi00
8 Forth Q comebacks, 12 game winning drives.
I looked there and couldn’t find it.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/play-index/comeback.cgi?player=CousKi00
They really hide that.
Next, compare the number of years as a starter. Kirk wins the average comebacks/game-winning drives per year by a landslide, I expect.
That was my goal… on it
So Smith has 156 games to Kirks 62. Smith has plated roughly 2.5 times as many games. He has roughly 2.5 as many 4th quarter comebacks.. so even there. Kirk is slightly better in game winning drives having a little more than half the number as Smith
i think if you put kirk on a good team, he will do really well.
I think if you put Kirk and Smith on a good team, they both would do really well. I think if you put them on bad teams they struggle.
it’s also worth factoring in that Kirk spent 3 years on the bench developing where Smith was groomed under fire.
I remember the soul-crushing losses more than Kirk putting the team on his back in the 4th quarter and willing his team to victory.
That’s for sure.
so… you DON’T like that?
Ooooo-weeeeee?
Cousins has played in way fewer games
https://i0.wp.com/sportsdemotivation.wordpress.com/files/2008/06/chris-cooley-nick-wass.jpg
Better question would be
last year how many wins would we have had with Alex Smith vs Kirk Cousins
Cousins was 7 could Smith have gotten us to 8 or 9 wins?
not unless he could tackle and be a good runningback
I think so. We would have beaten KC (lol)
Same number. Cousins wasn’t the problem.
Did you see the game against the Giants?
Yup. The whole team quit.
Three interceptions didn’t help
They are the same guy… one just happens to be older and less turnover prone
The 2017 version of Alex Smith would’ve eaked out another win or two, I suspect.
Where I’m at.
It’s very close, very hard to say.
Alex Smith maybe has better touch than Kirk Cousins, yeah, I think he does.
Certainly a MUCH better placement on his long ball. Hits dudes in stride.
Yup
Has receivers open deep, though. Kirk hit DJax deep all the time. A good receiver makes your throw look good.
C’mon man, DJax corrected to a bunch of those throws.
i think djax can make a lot of qbs look good on deep throws. the guy adjusts like no one else.
D Jax had to stop and come back for the ball a lot
I don’t think there’s a significant difference between AS & KC in deep ball accuracy, but its ok to disagree
stop copying me, you guys!
Shit…….you slow
This year, not sure, I don’t think anyone short of Aaron Rodgers/Tom Brady could have made a difference this year.
a running back who could get 1 yard on 4th down and that Saints game win makes the rest of the season different
Kirk Cousins throwing the ball away, or cutting up field, rather than scrambling towards the sideline for a 1st down, means Kirk never destroys Thompson’s knee vs the Saints and we are probably a 9-7 team.
last year was about the injuries on defense
offensive line
wish one could say WR, but Pryor was a huge disappointment
With the current roster of offensive players, no additions in FA or the draft…
How many wins in the NFC east do we get with Smith under center?
How many wins in the NFC east do we get with McCoy under center?
10
7
Measure twice.
Cut once.
He’s clearly counting playoffs. Clever.
No… I’m saying with Alex starting we are 10-6
with Colt starting we are 7-9
That wasn’t the question.
But okay.
That’s how I read it…
…and yes, I’m stupid… I read it as the NFL…
This is assuming the grim reaper doesn’t hit us in the knees as bad this season
The Grim Reaper is a pussy.
– Lis
Smith: 5+
Colt: 0
easily, 3 or more more with smith.
3
o
Well at least Greg Google Moreau….
The Island of Dr. Moreau
The sequel to Revis Island?
Hell, we’re comparing Fuller to Sherman and Talib so why not?
Apples to apples?
How incredibly stupid can you be?
..and I just let him keep talking so everyone could see what I’ve been saying about that guy. Clueless
Lol
Tanking a season(s) is THE way to go!
-The Successful Colts, Browns, and Jets
There’s tanking. And there’s shit teams and organizations.
Browns are going to shock some people in a few years. Watch.
They better… I’ve never seen a team with so many high draft picks look so awful. Where QB’s careers go to die.
Where careers go to die
fixed it for you
Football careers
What we all said about the Jags a few years ago….
But if anyone can screw it up, it’s the Browns.
Even the Jags were never bad as the Browns 10 year run they are on
winning pct of 0.200
nobody should deny that coaching matters
Yeah I’m sure they have been saying that for 10 years now.
the Browns problem is that that doesn’t even work in the NBA very much where you can just go out and put together a really young talented team. Championship teams tend to have a good mix of young talent and veteran leadership, and that’s true across professional sports. guess why the Browns don’t have veteran leadership? who wants to play there?
the Wizards had that problem a couple of years ago
The Jets even screwed up tanking. Playing a lot better than many thought they would after jettisoning so many players.
Again why can’t FMoreau replace Fuller?
Crazy talk I know
heck, why not Norman? with Moreau and Dunbar, even if Bree leaves
Norman isn’t a slot corner, uh, no!
I know. He’s a FS. But whatever the best combo is. In the slot, he’d be pretty tough against the run too.
We also have this thing called the off season to find or draft another guy also.
Maybe he can, but we have no way of knowing right now.
Maybe he can, who knows, point is, Fuller was top 3 in the league last year. Now we HAVE to replace him. Too much to give up imo for a lateral at best, qb move, except $’s saved.
It’s not a lateral QB move because our QB was Colt not Kurt who was not signing here.
we weren’t paying his asking price so yes I see what you mean
No he was not signing here period no matter what we offered he wants to be a FA.
If you can’t see that then not sure I can help you.
Knucklehead
Was chatting with an older dude at the bar yesterday about the trade. Man-of-few-words type of gent. “Ahhhhhh, Cousins was a pussy.” I laughed because I’d said that also. But then some other guy started trying to explain every single aspect and ramification of the trade and the older dude turned to him, nodded his head and held up his and and said sternly, “HE’S A PUSSY.”
We all laughed. Conversation over. LOL
my thought on trade after letting the dust settle
Cousins was never going to re-sign with the Redskins
Colt is a great backup QB, but not a starter
a Rookie QB is going to have growing pains
Having a proven QB allows the team to draft and develop a QB for the long term
We got one stand up type player for another so that helps team chemistry
Yes and I know Fuller is going to be in the HOF and isn’t replaceable but I think we’ll manage to find another slot CB if he isn’t already on the roster.
Colt would have made it impossible to attract any FA’s.
How many big-name FAs have the Jags signed with Bortles at QB? A: a shit-ton.
Yeah and Bortles is 100 times better than Colt and durable.
How much did they have to over pay for those guys?
Well he’s durable, but he sucks.
Yes and they had to over pay for the FA’s they got which is why they have 10mil in cap space now.
The got to the AFC Championship Game, so I guess it’s working alright for them.
So almost means you cannot improve at the QB position?
Losing is working alright for them?
Loser talk.
Yeah until they can’t afford them anymore and have to gut the team. It also means they can’t afford Cousisn.
If he sucks then Colt is whatever is a lot worse then sucks.
Not so sure about the “better” part. Definitely improved this year, but he was garbage for years.
You’re the one that says players come for the money.
Not here anymore because we don’t do that.
I’ve loved Dunbar as a slot DB at times. Think his size and athletic ability is really good for the role. If Sua wasn’t a mess I’d like to see him there too.
I listed 4 or 5 names last night of slot corners that are in this year’s draft
I have heard he is irreplaceable.
–Straw Man
Truth
Lie. No one has said that Fuller is irreplaceable.
Well it sure sounds like it with all the crying.
I know you refuse to acknowledge it, but he’s young, our draft pick, and one of the best CBs in the league. It’s a significant loss.
One year my friend and we have other young CB’s it’s not s significant loss.
You’re in denial. It’s expected.
Noone?
Some moron last night compared him to Sherman, Talib, and Butler
Quality Gas Contractor?
It’s a small sample size, but there’s a good case to be made that he played better than all of those old guys last year.
There is enough of a sample size to prove that you’re retarded.
One terrible year and one great year does not a perennial probowler make
He’s Darrel Green…but BETTER!
WF
The Insider should change their name to the Redskins Doom & Gloom Blog
Bloggers Post In Darkness
I’m surprised they finally heard the news over their.
own sobbing?
Well the new girl was at hot topic or something and herd some guys talking about it while shopping with their wives.
there
Yeah I noticed that was wrong didn’t feel like changing it but glad you pointed it out.
Now help Alex out down there ↓
girls do travel in herds right?? 🙂
There own sobbing…..does not work. Don’t change a thing, flounder.
lmwao
racist
Hilarious.
I twitter shamed the new Redskins Editor for none of his team posting anything on twitter about the trade
they had put a new article up about an hour after I broke the news here
and he then sent out the link after I asked if they heard there was new Redskins news
LOL pathetic.
Awesome trolling
★★★★★
TI thread about the trade came yesterday at 5PM and they are up to a staggering 25 comments and half of those are by Moe including responses to his own posts.
LOL
William Faulkner……. the Sound and the Fury!
Moe who?
He’s dead to me now.
it that, or the fact that people go back and count TI posts, more pathetic? too close to call?
I still read the post you idiot. So yeah, I noticed.
Ooooooooo
You guys really need to update the links on your landing page
My take on the trade after having slept on it:
The pros–
* Should keep the team somewhat competitive for the next 2-3 years; Smith vs Cousins is basically a wash. If we retain key FAs and are able to stay relatively healthy next year, we should be able to compete for a wild card spot. That would have less likely if we rolled with Colt, a rookie QB, or signed a lesser FA QB;
* Puts an end to the formerly endless Kirk Cousins drama. Certainty at QB improves chances of landing/retaining FAs;
The cons–
* The team becomes older and less talented, overall. We’re giving up one of the best young CBs in the league and a 3rd round draft pick, which is a heavy price to pay to stay more or less even at QB;
* The loss of Fuller makes it more difficult to part ways with Norman and his expensive contract. If the team feels it can’t move Norman, the added expense would offset the savings we gained by signing a somewhat cheaper QB;
My Conclusion–
I don’t like the move because I don’t see the team as being able to compete for championships in the two or three years Smith will likely man the QB spot. I would have preferred that we take our lumps over the next two or three years while we build the overall talent around the QB position, filling it with young players who have 5-10+ year windows.
But I could be wrong. Maybe the team comes back healthy, adds good pieces in FA and the draft, and gels into a formidable unit.
Time will tell.
Makes zero sense.
Even though I didn’t read it.
Still, I am sure you make no sense.
Jay can’t afford to take lumps for the next few years or he wont be here.
That would be his problem.
Jay probably can afford it better than Bruce and Doug. But a 10+ Loss season next year and they are all gone.
Here’s the thing. And it’s very logical. Bruce, Doug and Jay, if they went in to next year with Colt as the starter, they wouldn’t be here in 2019.
So what do you expect them to do, be cool with taking their lumps?
Yeah agreed
That’s a tough one. You would HOPE that this would discussed internally, and recognized as a rebuilding period, which should give cover to the FO and HC. The reality is probably that Snyder wouldn’t have the discipline to stick with the plan, but if that’s the case then we’re more or less doomed whichever way we jump.
Plan wouldn’t work anyway becaue nobody is coming here with Colt as your QB and if he gets hurt you need to start a rookie.
And not a good rookie either. Unless you are willing to make a big trade up I think most the top QB’s will be gone by 13. At least 4, maybe 5.
You’re not looking to sign big name FAs if you’re rebuilding, one. And two, most players follow the money, not the QB.
” but if that’s the case then we’re more or less doomed whichever way we jump.”
Yes.
If they were able to pitch and sell a plan to Snyder, they’d be here in 2019. I think you assume that the NFL *has* to be a place where you are immediately fired if you don’t have a winning season. That’s a stupid way to run a business. I think Snyder is learning that, albeit slowly.
They have been here awhile it’s not like their new.
That’s true.
I think that when they evaluate their standings with the fanbase, it’s very low right now. And they probably worry more about how tanking a season will be taken by the public, more than if it’s the smart move or not.
Personally, I think Allen should have been let go along with Shanahan. I don’t think he knows how to run a football team.
I think he knows how to do some of it, I just would rather he never be on the practice fields or in the scouting department.
I’d go to Ashburn, build a whole new building for Bruce to work in, a totally air-gaped space where he can figure out the stadium stuff & ticket sales. Never touch the team aspects of the franchise.
The idea is to field a competitive team while “while we build the overall talent around the QB position, filling it with young players who have 5-10+ year windows.” realizing that “those players with 5-10+ year windows” hit free agency usually after just 3-4 years.
There are two things to consider:
The baseline is not Cousins vs Smith. It is Smith vs Colt. In that light, there is no wash.
There is no guarantee that Fuller would have stayed here in 2 years. Taking lumps for the next 2 years actually makes it more likely he moves on.
Yeah and we can’t add any good FA’s.
The problem is that the trade detracts from the rebuilding process, in the sense that we lose one very good, young player and a highish draft pick, and in the sense that maintaining a 500ish record keeps us from accumulating very high draft picks.
Of course any player may leave, if he isn’t tagged, but most players stay on for a second contract.
No it doesn’t gives us a stable QB while were rebuilding.
So you want your cake and eat it too….
free agency, the salary cap, and the relative edge of the rookie scale all work together to mean all NFL teams are on a rebuilding cycle. there is no rebuilding, you are always building. because of that, it doesn’t really make sense to suddenly then make a few desperate moves to put you over the top… because there are always free agents you need to keep and draft picks to make.
the Trade provides a platform for that to keep moving forward for the Redskins.
by the same argument you could say that keeping Fuller kept the young talent behind him from developing
how many players do you think stay on for their second contract on a rudderless ship? “trust me guys, this is going to get… bett… guys? guys? where are you going?”
Smith hasn’t won much even though his Chiefs teams had strong rushing attacks and defense. Much more so than we’ve had. Kelce is better than Reed too.
I think right now, Sprinkle is better than Reed.
Colt hasn’t won many games and that’s who we would have had. Kirk hasn’t won anything either.
Bruce Allen has an MO when it comes to FA’s. He rarely goes after the top guy in any group, unless its a Norman who comes available really late in the game.
Here’s what I suggest. Go to http://walterfootball.com/freeagents.php and whatever position group you want, look for the 4th through 8th best free agents around 27 years old.
Like at RB, the most Bruce thing to do would be to go after a Jerick McKinnon, or an Isaiah Crowell.
reading the descriptions of both those running backs that flounde just posted, I fucking hope Bruce doesn’t sign either one of them. Horrible
Wait I thought he always wanted to win the off season?
Festivals. BBQ’s. Homecomings. Charity golf tournaments. Uniform variations.
Hay rides and pumpkin pie
Or was that several years ago before he even got here and people are still bringing that dumb shit up.
it was bruce allen who mentioned “winning off the field”. that line will forever the associated with him, unless he, you know, starts winning ON the field.
i do not give one flying fuck, or even one flightless fuck, about winning off the field.
don’t confuse Flounder, he’s doggedly fixated on defending the FO rn….In the face of all evidence of poor management
Who said….’winning off the field’ ? And, what team did he say was winning, off the field?
Vernon Smith, in Mobile!
HTTR65
“Yeah, you know, we had a lot of great things off the field,” Allen responded. “We had the Harvest Fest at FedEx Field. We had a great event in Richmond on Friday helping some people who need some help. Our team is focused. We’re hungry for a win. And it’s going to be a tough challenge today.”
He was referring to this trade not what Bruce said.
No I wasn’t specifying this trade…. amazing how you KNOW everything, yet nothing at the same time
httr,
it’s a gift. flounder made a deal with the gods. in exchange, he lost the ability to write in english,
don’t piss off Flounder or he’ll cry we’re being mean to the stellar FO….smgdh
Love me some flounder.
Grouper, Snapper, Pompano, Monk fish…all good
Yes I did, this morning. I followed up your snarky comment with this.
*Lighten up! Are no jokes about this organization allowed in your opinion? You’re dogged loyalty to the organization is laughable given their track record.
I still think it’s laughable.
He might go after Landry.
McGee and McClain were WF’s 29th and 32nd best DL in free agency. Swearinger was their 11th best S. Brown #3 ILB. The only one who deviates from that formula is that WF ranked Pryor as the top WR available, which, wow. Way off.
Here are the top FA RB’s I left out Bell because he isn’t hitting FA’s.
Dion Lewis, RB, Patriots. Age: 27.
Dion Lewis has a horrible injury history, but he’s a tremendous running back when healthy. He finally remained on the field the entire season in 2017, and it paid off. Lewis rushed for 895 yards on a 5.0 YPC clip and also caught 32 passes for 214 receiving yards.
Carlos Hyde, RB, 49ers. Age: 27.
Carlos Hyde has averaged better than four yards per carry throughout his career despite never running behind a strong offensive line. He has also been paired with mostly terrible quarterbacks throughout his time in San Francisco. Hyde has the potential to explode in the right situation.
Isaiah Crowell, RB, Browns. Age: 25.
Isaiah Crowell has a lot of natural talent, and he flashed it early in 2016 before the Browns had offensive line issues. However, he was a big disappointment this past season, failing to do anything behind an excellent front.
Rex Burkhead, RB, Patriots. Age: 28.
Rex Burkhead is a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none running back. He’s decent at catching passes (30 receptions in 2017) and can plunge into the end zone effectively from the goal line. He also averaged 4.1 yards per carry behind an offensive line with some injury issues.
Jerick McKinnon, RB, Vikings. Age: 26.
Jerick McKinnon isn’t a very good runner – he hasn’t been able to eclipse four yards per carry in either of his previous two seasons – but he’s an effective receiver out of the backfield. He had 51 receptions in 2017 and 43 the year before.
No to all.
Yeah I would rather draft as guy who can run but is very good at catching out of the backfield like Michel.
Hyde, maybe, for the right price
But if he’s good… San Fran has the $$$
I’d stay away from the Patriots RBs. None of them shined this year.
I’d absolutely take a run at Dion Lewis if the price is right.
Burkhead for a buck fifty.
not sure he’s a fit, here
A dollar fifty….. c’mon man.
Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 20 (DET): DaRon Payne, DT, Alabama (B+)
Round 2 Pick 16 (LAC): Harrison Phillips, DT, Stanford (B-)
Round 2 Pick 19 (DET): Will Hernandez, OG, Texas-El Paso (A-)
Round 3 Pick 20 (LAC): Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State (A+)
Round 4 Pick 13: J.C. Jackson, CB, Maryland (A+)
Round 4 Pick 17 (DET): Josh Adams, RB, Notre Dame (A)
Round 5 Pick 12: Shaun Dion Hamilton, ILB, Alabama (D+)
Round 6 Pick 14: Tre’Quan Smith, WR, Central Florida (A+)
Round 7 Pick 13: Javon Wims, WR, Georgia (A+)
Round 7 Pick 23: Heath Harding, CB, Miami (OH) (A+)
If we don’t plan on taking a RB with one of our top 2 picks, we need to sign one in FA.
we could use a starting upgrade, Adams would fit that bill, but that isn’t going to fix the running game unless it’s given more priority in practice I think
I don’t think we will be major players in FA other than for a starting WR; probably have to keep it medium;
assuming we want to keep some of our FAs
Shut your little ho mouf!
We need a DT but 2 DT’s in first 2 picks is a bit lopsided.
Lopsidedly awesome!
Harrison is a DE here
Harrison is the fucking Messiah! Please adjust your radio frequency.
One of the top 2 DT will be there in the early 20’s so trading down is not an issue for me and we should pick up a 2nd round to make up for the 3rd we traded.
Da’Ron Payne seems to be the constant here. I like that, unless Quentin Nelson falls to us.
Early morning heart attack for BTG. Josh Gordon is a FA this year and is only 27….
Don’t like knuckle heads
No thanks
Then why are you here?
lol
It really implies that “we” are knuckleheads, and that he enjoys our company.
I knew what he was saying there
*rimshot*
Greg is cool, tho.
More of a rimshot at the rest of us….
*splashdown!*

Formally known as….The Spruce Goose

Thank youuuuuu Cliff Clavin.
I was making a joke about RS1
but *google*
technically the spruce goose was actually made of birch
HA!
Which would suck as a newspaper headline, so……
Any interest in going after Cowboys David Irving in FA?
Only Cowboy I’d go for is DeMarcus Lawrence and I would pay him. That dude is going to be a 15 sack per season dude, minimum, for the next several seasons.
That’s it.
Really hope Cowboys don’t find a way to re-sign him….
I think they have to. As strange as that sounds, they actually cannot afford to lose him.
We don’t have that 3rd anymore, he’s RFA
He’s restricted
Second round tender
Damn!
ring-ring-ring-ring-ring-ring-ring…banana phone
Shooo bop shooo waaa waaa wazooo bop shooo waaaaaaaaaa
stop it!
(though i would rather have that in my head than the journey song.)
I wanna beeee there, in myyyyy city……
citaaay…
Yes, better.
Speaking of Swearinger, is he on a one year deal?
Thought it was 2 or 3. Defintiely not a FA this year.
Great!
Swearinger is signed through next year.
I think there’s an option and stuff too.
He is signed through 2019.
“D.J. Swearinger watched the story develop on Twitter on Tuesday night, first seeing reports that Smith had been traded for a draft pick and a player to be named later. When it became clear that Fuller, 22, would indeed be Kansas City-bound, Swearinger sounded off on social media.”
———————-
just shut the f up and cover, properly, your guy.
He manned up and took credit for the comments said it was a heat of the moment thing.
Didn’t he apologize for those tweets?
You are NOT a fan! If you hate Swearinger and love Fuller so much, why don’t you just follow the Chiefs (they are similar to the Skins in terms of colors and name)!
I’m not worried about DJ one bit. He’s just respecting his boy Fuller who DJ probably had a lot of time invested in regarding Fuller’s development and was bemoaning the loss of his boy.
Don’t care. That’s so unimportant in my opinion.
i don’t “do” twitter, so if he apologized or whatever, i guess good on him. but damn.
also, i do understand his disappointment at losing a gut like fuller. good CBs are hard to come by… but not as hard as good QBs.
We do ALL the twitters, K…….
Still cruising. Earlier this week I was stunned with headline “Cousins to Midas season with torn Achilles!”.
Then I read we have traded for Alex Smith.
What’s going on?
Ps, Cousins is bb player
Boogie Cousins
Yes Demarcus Cousins
Skins usually take a look at one or two FA’s? Any guesses as to who they may be?
Well, depends on what happens with our own guys. I know position groups I’d target are WR/RB/G
RB and WR
WR’s maybe Landry maybe a guard.
Would love to make a run at Jarvis Landry, but gonna be way too expensive.
SCOW’s wife?
Another retread?
Was hoping on someone that hasn’t left it all on the field already.
Got to look at our own first and decide who you don’t want to bring back.
I’m sure they have already done that.
Oh are you now!
Yes
They are still talking with Brown and a few guys.
Yes and those are guys they want to bring back.
I am not into FA RBs at all.
Maybe a FA G.
Normally I agree about FA RB’s but given the move we made to get Smith, I really thing upgrading RB has to be a top priority, I’m saying a good FA and a draft pick in this off-season wouldn’t hurt.
We should draft that kind of RB.
We are chock-full of 4.6 dudes and we need a guy with to-the-hizzy type speed.
Nope draft a RB

If we are posting weird music from the 70’s that just leaves you wondering about what you’ve done with your life. Here’s one my parents played for me when I was way too young.

Dude…… he’s not weird, OK!
The song is.
You’ve never been out on a Saturday night, eh? SHOTS!
I don’t know who this Logan Paul is, I don’t know what he’s done or why he’s apologizing, and I don’t really care. But his pic is clogging up my twitter timeline and his face looks very punchable.
I think he is the suicide video guy
Again. I don’t care, just want to see the guy punched in the face.
He’s a frign idiot. Loved and watched by millions of fellow idiots.
Be afraid for your future. The idiots are coming.

Don’t let that guy happen in your head.
I got to just ignore twitter for a few hours I guess.

Was Kurt Cumming?
I’m pretty sure that’s Jeffrey Dahmer on drums.
Lol
Kurt Benkert
wow…that is some incredibly weird and f-ed up stuff. very accidentally funny.
Bob Weir on guitar over there……this is like a bad TV show from 1979.
SEND ME THREE OF YOUR WORST DANCERS, PRONTO!
Think how much money they made when that song was re done by the The Sugarhill Gang and played at every bar mitzvah?
Where has this been all my life?
And, can we put it back now?
It’s so bad, it’s great!
I hate that.
The, ‘this is really horrible, I should look away…but I can’t’ effect.
When the space aliens get wise to that, we’re screwed.
No wait…the Russians, the Russians already figured it out and used it against us.
That music video set the leather fringe industry back 15 years!
Kind of looks like the grounds of the Willow Creek Farm Clyde’s in Ashburn.
Damn. Didn’t get a big finish I was hoping on. There’s no getting that 4:34 of my life back.
Can’t wait for the draft
Gonna be exciting
You have FA’s first.

Jazz fusion! Putahtuwahzzzoweepppffttzz!
Let’s be consistent here….
We have ALWAYS bristled at going out and getting the guy who just came off his one great season.
The Chiefs came up big with weapons this season. And it showed. Smith was spoiled with targets. Naturally it reflected in his numbers and he finished 8th in the league.
Prior that….
2016 – 22nd
2015 – 20th
2014 – 20th
2013 – 17th
Now. Get yourself square with the fact that he not an elite QB.
Smith is a very good QB and he is the best QB that we could have gotten for the next few years.
Agree
So there are no Wentz’s or Garrapolos or Carrs out there ? Not sure he is best could have gotten. More like someone to fit in…
Obviuosly Skins feel better w retread vs the alternative. Thats what this trade spells
I think they knew they were losing Cousins and wanted to beat other teams at acquiring the best available QB out there so we’re not stuck with Colt.
Cop out imo. But Is what it is.
he fits Grudens offense
my burgundy-colored hope is that this trade spells that they wanted a guy Gruden could work with, and build around (so free agents don’t flee, or demand a ransom) so they could non-desperately find their next QB over the next 3 or so years.
I guess. But gave up too much for the plateaued imo. I will cheer him on tho
there are some who think that he was fine in Reid’s offense, but will do better in Jays
part of that is you just have to compare the passing attempts in KC to Cousins’ attempts in DC
he is going to throw the ball more here, unless they develop a running game in the off season
Garrapolos is a free agent and he has like what half a season of experience?
Well how long has Mahomes played? Gotta start somewhere
you willing to pull what Philadelphia pulled to get Wentz? in this draft? Because prob the four top QBs all go in the top six.
and 50% shot you get a brandon weeden
Or Shuler or Brady. Cant hit if dont swing.
Perhaps but lotta QBs can be groomed outta the top 4 or 5. The way Skins should go imo…and still may. Point is the day is coming sooner than later.
He got a 13.5% deal.
Elite money is 15-16%
They didn’t pay him like an elite QB
Not talking about the money.
Talking about what we got in a QB.
he’s got starting experience, won a few playoff games, one where he undeniably put his team on his back for a clutch 4th Q win, and he fits the offense, and they didn’t burn 3 1sts and a 2nd to get him
You can stop justifying it.
Here….

if they put a V8 turbo version in their med-large SUV, I’m in
I’m in just for the shiny-ass cylinders. You could shave with one of those things.
i’m sad about fuller. but kudos to bruce for getting smith. we’ll see how it all works out, but right now, i’m psyched to have smith for the next few years.
This is easy.
The Redskins had a surplus at DB
The Chiefs had a surplus at QB
The Redskins had no starting QB
Even Santana Moss recognized this easy equation on the Fan yesterday.
Yeah it’s pretty simple really.
Supply and demand. Other teams were sniffing around and our FO jumped on it knowing Cousins wasn’t going to be here much longer.
Yeah Denver offered a second and Talib
The issue I have is that we picked up a soon to be 34 year old QB and we’re still a mediocre team, and we’re paying him 23.5 mil a year. He keeps us from being terrible but we’re still not good and he probably won’t be around long enough for us to build a contending team around him unless he’s one of those guys that can play at a high level until he’s 40.
That’s why you bring in a QB to groom.
Can’t we still draft our “Mahomes” to sit and wait under Smith?
Yes
We can, although i don’t know that we want to spend a first on a QB after what we just invested in Smith. I’m thinking 4th round or later.
I agree
Yes. Let’s wait a year or two for our Mahomes. But a Case Keenum or Kurt Cussins would be great in the 5th or so.
Not this year. we’d have the same problems we did with Cousins. if you draft a kid, and he is on a 4 year deal, he’s going to get maybe 1 year of starting ops, maybe with a handful of other appearances if Smith gets hurt
I mean, they may draft a kid, but he’d be the Sudfeld developmental type, not a presumptive the Next
but we’re not a mediocre team.
Yea, we’ll just have to agree to disagree on that
they need a WR1
and the rest are wants or related to coaching preference
They need a RB, a LG, a TE who can block, a WR1, a CB (unless they re-sign Bree), an ILB (unless they re-sign Brown), a DT, and another passrusher wouldn’t hurt. I also don’t think Jay Gruden is a great HC so that kind of colors my view on this team’s potential.
dan,
smith is way better than mediocre. i can’t dispute his age, but he’s way better than mediocre.
I didn’t say smith is mediocre. i said the Skins team is
oh… sorry, actually i see that now. i still think smith will be as good as cousins would have been for the next few years. and, i was oh so sick of the cousins saga…
as for the skins being “mediocre” – the skins aspire to mediocre. for last 25 years we have been way less than mediocre.
It’s not equitable.
We’re upside down on this trade.
But it’s done, I guess. So….let’s just move on.
Surplus at DB? What’s the old saying? You can’t have too many good CBs. In this case it’s particularly true because we’re paying Josh Norman a LOT of money and so far he hasn’t played up to expectations. The smart move would have been to continue developing our young studs and part company with Norman in ’19 when we have a reasonable out in his contract.
Another possibility would have been letting Breeland go, rather than potentially overpaying him.
And having no QB.
i don’t understand all the animosity toward kurt cummings. he played really well for us for a few years.
If you don’t care about him why do you keep bringing him up with your self appointed foolish nickname for him
KIRK COUSINS played well for us for a few years. he’s not going to be a redskin anymore. therefore, i don’t care about him anymore.
psssst……he doesn’t like laughter.
Would you rather
1. Top ten qb
2. Top ten slot corner
You’re late.
Okay
What do you want to discuss then
How to get that pick back? Runnin’ backs, shit like that.
You can trade down a few spots still get a top d-line guy and get a better pick then the one you lost.
greg,
i’m sad about fuller, too. heck we’re both VT guys, but still… alex smith? that’s a good get. hoping he is our qb for 3 or 4 years. it’s weird knowing who the qb will be beyond next season.
Or to be more specific:
1. 34-year-old top ten QB, or
2. 22-year-old top ten CB.
Still doesn’t change
This is a qb driven league
Either you have one
Or you’re trying to get one
Sure. That’s why Blake Bortles nearly made the Super Bowl, and Nick Foles is playing in the Super Bowl.
Tom Brady???
Ever heard of him
So you’re saying teams can win with good QBs and good defense or not-so-good QBs and really good defense?
comparisons to Tom Brady- not helping
1. might be here only 3 years
2. might have only been here 2 years
I’ll declare it right now…
As long as Torian Gray is on the sideline, Fuller stays with the Skins.
I like the idea of bringing him back once his rookie deal is done. Hoping he doesn’t sign an extension.
If the coaching staff gets blown out, there’s a good chance Gray goes with them.
All I’m saying is we’re counting chickens before they hatch.
Plus, those guys in the secondary are a group. None of them would want to split up the band.
I’m firmly a glass half full on him re-signing in two years if he was still here.
People are making the argument that Smith is like, maybe 16th best QB and Fuller is the top slot corner GoAT
^^^^^^^^^ibot^^^^^^^^^^^
i don’t think Alex Smith is a top 10 QB, more like 14-16 range. He’s solid. Also I don’t think we are going anywhere with Smith, so I would rather we keep the young talented CB, draft a QB, and spend the money on defense. We aren’t close enough to contending for this trade to matter. We’re still mediocre
other than the game 1 mulligan for poor pre prep, I don’t know how you saw this team when they were healthy and didn’t think they could contend. the Skins swung and missed on WR1 last off season, but added difference making Safeties, DL, and Mason + Brown were killing it. And they added potential talent in the draft like Moreau. And 2 years from now, maybe they have to let Fuller go in FA to sign a FA LT. Or, the Colt thing doesn’t work out and everyone gets blown out and start over. Fuller goes in FA on his own so he doesn’t have to start from zero.
I feel like Kirk SchMirk, Fuck that Guy should’ve got a plug.
I feel like we get no respect.
They only read twitter shit.
They do computers…they know all the twitters.
Big ol’ whatever about KC
He dicked us over for two years
Zero GAF about that guy
I just think both sides mis-read the other. And Kirk did this differently than a lot of guys: passionless. all business. and at some point, the Other decides you don’t want to be here.
The Fuller summary: corporate thinking 101 “we fucked it up really good, but we’re not talking about that. Check out this rabbit!”
Well I hope the Smith deal doesnt backfire down the road. Helps now but could get dicey in a couple years…I expect.
Not sure how Belichek does it…but one third of N.E.’s special teams and starters are undrafted free agents. Some folk here were saying college doesnt translate to the NFL. Not to that team. Lets hope the Skins scouts have a banner year and Fuller isnt missed. Bout all you can hope for and the youngsters to step in the void.
maybe move Moreau and Dunbar to the corners and Norman to the slot, even if Breeland moves on
*smash cut*
You’re going to pay a slot corner THAT much? Insane!
Wait, I thought slot corner was super important?
Insane!
Can’t win.
With T.Gray there is some hope…
Buuuuut…..if you do tag him, that signing team has a number locked in. No guessing. They’ll have a hard number to work with, put up for him and then have him available to rework at a later date.
Have you thought of that Steve?
Tagging Cousins would have been stupid.
who?
Well, thars Thelma, and Betty Lou, Trina Mae, Brittany Lynn…..
Stupid. But doable. With a better chance at getting something in return.
I’m not endorsing pursuing that. Just pointing out.
No he would have played on the tag and we would have had to do this all over with no room to build.
Isn’t FMoreau eerily similar to Fuller
Fell in the draft due to injury
Thought of previously as a first round pick
And someone had the nerve to bring up age with ASmith
Smh
Lol, somebody’s googling to catch up…..but mock drafts are lame, right?
Apparently Smith is going to just start sucking all the sudden this year.
Sluuuurrrrrrp!
What happened to VD down the stretch?
Right. He hit the wall.
Who is VD and what does he have to do with Smith?
Steve’s running with the “QB trumps all” which is the easiest road to take, obviously.
it’s a pretty damn important position…
gosh, i hope we can re-sign cummings. oh, that’s right…. i don’t care about him anymore.
KSFTG
i don’t know what that means…
Kirk, Schmirk, F That Guy
ah… i’m “all in” on KSFTG.
i had a weird dream that the redskins got alex smith to be their qb. alex freakin smith! crazy, right?!?!
Yer dream’n
Steve’s wrong about Fuller, IMO.
I’m at 30:30….
when is he wrong?
Back in the early 20’s. I may be mixing voices.
Ah.
Yea.
He’s like so what about Fuller. We got QB. You’re all crazy. Marbles coming out of your head.
It’s how some folks deal.
It’s cool. I don’t mind being talked down to. Not at all. Not one bit.
Something about water…….and a duck.
to get to the other side?
X!
We’ll be right back to griping about the slot corner while we wait on that guy to learn the position.
Right because their is no way we can pick up a slot corner in FA’s.
Suuuuuuuure we will
And look, assuming Smith is lights out for three years, Fuller is still in the league five – six seasons after Smith retires.
Or more
We lost him.
Go get him back in two years.
Way more. Fuller is 11 years younger than Smith.
and he would have been a free agent in two. there’s no guarantee they would / could have signed him
Whoa whoa Steve….the slot corner has a learning curve and has become crucial in today’s game. Right when we get a guy that’s shutting it down….
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO8vBVUaKvk
The 9’ers did him dirty
Kelly, drop some T.Rex on k0n, guy needs some medicine 🙂

you mean they have ANOTHER song?
Lol
Eli…still had it at 35. Hit wall before 36 and is absolute garbage at 37.
prob looking at 34 35 and his 36 year he’ll be keeping the spot warm for some punk kid
At his salary? Hell no.
Right. Smith looked good last year. But come on, 34 is a game away from hitting the wall. It’s not an if, it’s a when.
You just wanna complain, eh? What if we still draft a guy? Oh yeah…..still gotta fire Jay, eh?
Not complaining. Pointing out that it’s going to happen.
He’s a driver, he’s a winner
Things are gonna change, I can feel it….
Getting crazy with the cheez whiz
HA!
Choking on the splinters.
Plenty of QBs in there late 30s
And a shit-ton more that aren’t
Upgrade
I think so.
Not Godzilla stomping buildings but yeah, upgrade.
3 seasons…that’s a stretch. Lucky if we get 2
50 yards less?! Wtf??????
Two shows this week? What? Did something happen?
Neo glam hero metal intro….is that a thing?

Solid chrome guitar, check! Lol
I love Marc Bolan, he was so super camp
Are there any free agent on defense in Kansas City or any of their running backs that are good or wide receivers or Travis Kelce? Maybe they’ll follow Alex Smith LOL
Get me that #10 that made half those Top 10 Alex Smith highlights possible. He’s a young DJax.
Who, Crowder? Who Crowder? Is that Crowder that you mean? Crowder?
Huh? Crowder?
Smith is going to miss that rushing attack he had in Kansas City and the defense although if we get all our players back on defense from last year and add another stud defensive lineman maybe that will help feel the defense finally for us
We ALWAYS win the (almost) offseason!
-BA
We haven’t won an off season in years nor tried to win one.
Lighten up! Are no jokes about this organization allowed in your opinion? You’re dogged loyalty to the organization is laughable given their track record.
Happy Thursday!
I’m not joking, I would not have been able to guess what day it was right now if you’d asked me. Thank you for this!
Hpy Hpy!
