Alex Smith, officially a member of the Redskins
It’s been a long time coming, but Alex Smith is now officially the Redskins starting QB. The team sent out a press release:
REDSKINS ACQUIRE QB ALEX SMITH
LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have acquired quarterback Alex Smith from the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for cornerback Kendall Fuller and a third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Smith will be introduced to the media at a press conference at Inova Sports Performance Center at Redskins Park on Thursday, March 15. Please see the following page for details.
Smith (6-4, 217) is a 13-year NFL veteran who originally entered the league as the No. 1 overall pick by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2005 NFL Draft. He has appeared in 156 career regular season games with 151 starts, completing 2,877-of-4,613 passes (62.4 percent) for 31,888 yards with 183 touchdowns and 96 interceptions for a passer rating of 87.4. He has also rushed 529 times for 2,433 yards with 14 rushing touchdowns in his career.
After spending his first eight NFL seasons with the 49ers from 2005-12, Smith was traded to the Chiefs on March 12, 2013. In his five seasons in Kansas City, the Chiefs recorded at least nine wins in every campaign and earned four playoff berths. The Chiefs compiled a 50-26 regular season record in Smith’s starts, and he was one of only three NFL quarterbacks to record at least 50 regular season wins as a starter from 2013-17 (Tom Brady and Russell Wilson).
This past season, Smith started all 15 games in which he played and recorded career highs in completions (341), passing yards (4,042), passing touchdowns (26) and passer rating (104.7) while throwing only five interceptions. He earned his third career Pro Bowl selection and led the Chiefs to their second straight AFC West title. He also received the Chiefs’ Walter Payton Man of the Year honor for his combination of outstanding community service and on-field excellence.
Smith played collegiately at Utah, recording a 21-1 record as a starter. During his time with the Utes, he completed 389-of-587 passes (66.3 percent) for 5,208 yards with 47 touchdowns and added 1,072 rushing yards with 15 rushing touchdowns on 286 carries. He earned National Player of the Year honors from Sports Illustrated following his 2004 campaign in which he led Utah to a 12-0 record.
Smith, 33, attended Helix H.S. in La Mesa, Calif., where he earned All-CIF, All-Conference and All-County honors. He was born May 7, 1984.
The team’s press conference with Mr. Smith will be at 5:30 tomorrow.
backup guard comes down to Catalina and Kalis
Callahan really likes how Kalis has progressed this past year so I would give him inside track
Expect new LG to be a draft pick at this point or even maybe Kalis
maybe they bring back Lauvao at lower $$ after nobody signs him in FA
Draft, develop, say goodbye to the players- but HELLO to some solid 5th round compensatory picks.
-The Way I See IT, a Memoir by Bruce ALLEN.
Photo on back of book is Bruce, lounging on his patio in Newport Beach, cold Coors light in a coozy, sunglasses on.
And say goodbye to all the comp picks while he has to bring in a bunch of FA’s.
Lol
Time to move along – new post: http://www.thehogsty.com/2018/03/15/2018-draft-analysis-part-6-quarterbacks/
3rdz and 4thz. Dontsign Brown. Troll.
Jay needs to win now. Forcing a pick for need is stupid. FA’s go deal with it move on.
Lol. Smh.
Hey, I didn’t call you a troll. I made fun of your shorthand, and I stand behind that fact.
All good..I corrected the auto correct I thought ….zzzzzzz!
Flounderizms
You do you, don’t worry about what anybody thinks.
Yea dont put much into some takes…pans out down the road for the most part..
Hey, least you don’t have to complain about KC anymore.
Lol .
We should add one piece to the line but before Allen got hurt we were stopping the run with no problem.
We are set at O-line except for LG.
So we aren’t set. We can’t run for shit. Need something to change
That is thanks to Jay running scheme and it relying far to much on TE blocking.
Who would you like to remove from the o-line then?
If Chase is the center we need a legit starting LG and a backup guard. We also need to rethink the entire running game as its not all about personnel. So I agree Jay is partly to blame. But to say OL is set simply isn’t true. And that includes the genius Callahan
Could use depth for down the road, but that’s a round 6 problem.
Yeah but you get that late in the draft.
no way
I’m okay if that waits till the draft. Same with RB. We have a fairly full roster at both spots, but looking for affordable talent makes some sense, rather than spending 10 million on a 27 year old.
Agreed
But LBs too rich…move on. Oh and dont draft for need if no LB signed. Right dude…Not
42 days until the draft
I better start stocking up on matzoh balls
Too soon?

With the kinky stuff he was into, odds are he’s not going up anyway.
God made him too so he knew what he’d be into right?
That’s not how it works
I think that thing could climb the stairs if he went up in reverse and kept the steer tires on the skirt-boards there, just sayin’. Might have to rip the rear bumper off first.

No Skins in here, but fun to watch.
“Students at her school became alarmed Wednesday at her Snapchat post disparaging National Walkout Day, which was being held in response to a mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla., that left 17 dead. Roof’s [yes, that’s mass murder d roof’s sister] post said she hoped “it’s a trap and y’all get shot” and “we know it’s fixing to be nothing but black people walkin out anyway,” authorities told local news outlets.
My daughter walked out they just stood in the parking lot for 17 minutes and went back in the teachers and principle were on board with it.
my daughter did too. she’s more liberal than i am. wife is more conservative. however, trump has united us.
It’s a symbolic gesture.
I know a lot of teachers and school administrators thanks to my family being full of them and my work, not heard anyone who’s been against the walk out.
Yeah it was all pretty chill according to my daughter.
We were told there would be disciplinary action if the students walked out.
Did the Skins get the memo that FA started and it might be time to re work some deals. Seems the entire NFL is doing it. We’re bucking the system I guess.
we’re trendsetters
*kicks door open
Re working deals is what gets you in cap hell it’s what we used to do. You have to pick the right player or you get a massive capo hit when the guy is not good anymore.
The only teams doing are the ones that have too.
Slow and steady
We have plenty of cap space were not signing big name guys because we don;t do that anymore.
Hi
-Josh Norman
Little different dude fell in our laps late in the game we didn’t go looking for a big time FA.
No he fell into the league’s lap and we out bid everyone. It’s not difffernet at all.
Sure it is.
He’s a big talent, got hurt last year. When we had pressure early in the season, he was balling…need to build the fucking line peeps…It’s not that hard to get.
The line got injured before that they were fine.
not good enough or enough depth.
Exhibit #1- The McShit twins….not big name guys…look what we got. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
Yeah well some times when you sign big name guys you get screwed.
Dem fellers ain’t big names
sometimes but can’t always go shopping at Goodwill store…need to step up sometimes too Put your big boys pants on BA
Most teams that do that never win anything.
we aren’t winning either. you know this right?
We are winning off the field – and don’t you ever forget it.
not even doing that anymore lol 🙁
Give me a McShit two!!! – Bruce
Sheldon Richardson wants big money so teams are being very cautious about him right now

Given Reed’s injury history…if I were in the FO…I’d approach Jordan about a restructuring. He’d have to comply.
His cap hit next year sucks worse than this year….
No thanks that will just push a big cap hit down the road.
when the draft gets to #13 and the Redskins take _______
if Smith, Ward, James, Vea, Nelson, etc. is there and is their #1 guy on the board
they should take that guy, just like with Allen, you put more talent on the roster, the better chance you have to win
but my crazy point would be if the took Ridley at WR…
Yeah agreed
we’ll have all our positional holes filled by then through free agency, so will be able to pick BPA.
Forcing a pick for need is stupid.
taking a wide receiver when we need to fortify our defensive line and our offensive line is stupid
Yeah that was stupid maybe that’s why Scot is gone.
we still need to build both lines today! Not nearly strong enough yet on either line imo
I liked the pick a lot. Scot is gone for a myriad of reasons me thinks. If he was fired for one pick, BA is an even bigger idiot that I think.
Fa’s havent been our strong suit…actually we haven’t been good at drafting a wide receiver either so not sure I agree. I do KNOW, football 101, if you have a stronger offensive line and defensive line, you win more times than not. Being able to pound the ball and stop the rush wins games…
No we won’t. Are you being sacrcastic?
Yes
Really when it comes to positional holes, we only have 2 right now, LG/ILB.
Corner too. Be nice to add a vet there.
you have to be kidding right? Defensive back, defensive tackle, running back, safety…depth everywhere
Depth is what you fill in with the draft, and we have guys in the spots now, though yes we can improve on them, positional holes are starters.
I guess I consider all the rb’s as jag’s, so a starter needs to be acquired, and the same with one dt position. I get your point tho. thanks.
I don’t consider Allen and Ionnidas JAGs.
RB sure, outside Thompson we got just a big bowl of blah.
1 defensive tackle position I stated. I love Allen and Ion.
yes, bad rep. sarcasm. didn’t you see the sarcasm font?
Yes. If you end up with a surplus of talent in one or two areas, you no doubt will need it for injuries or, here’s a novel idea, you can move the more expensive piece for draft capital.
If we assume that all 4 QBs are taken that leaves us with the other 9. Barkley, Chubb, Nelson, will probably be gone. Vea too. That leaves 5…Fitzpatrick, James, Edmunds, R. Smith….Payne?
the NFL rule is that pass rushers go before run stoppers so I would expect Edmunds to go before Vea
Good point.
Hey BR, watch some Hokie tape before you make that decision. He’ll go because he’s good, not because he’s a pass rusher.
on the fantasy island news
Mega Millions now $345M
Powerball now $455M
Any updates on Sheldon Richardson?
So if you aren’t willing to do some restructuring I don’t wanna hear any complaints
Oh, but you will!
I reserve the right to be critical of bad deals.
I reserve the right to be critical of bad deals that hurt the cap.
No you just wanna whine
I don’t hate to break it to you…
you’re the whine fix’n to whine here.
Relying on FA’s is slogging through the mud to me. Snag a couple of pieces, sure. Build on last years apparently good draft class, absolutely. Keep that up, please.
You play out the current contract. It expires…BAM! Crap-tons of cap loot appear. No sense in kicking that can.
Norman, Williams, Kerrigan, Reed are the guys we can restructure to free up cap
Yeah but that means we will have massive cap hits when they are no good anymore or we want to get rid of them.
HTTRQGC Flounder • 22 minutes ago
Dont sign Z Brown…so we can waste a top pick on an ILB w so many other needs. Brilliant. Let 2 CBs go so we can spend our top draft pick on a CB…brilliant. Hopefully the FA door doesnt close to quick on the FO…
========================================================
that’s what happens under today’s CBA, you can’t resign everyone so you draft their replacement on cheaper rookie deals
smart teams draft ahead so when the guy leaves the replacement in there waiting
sometimes that doesn’t work out so you draft them the year they leave
Is Dontsign Z Brown a player?
Who is HTTRQGC I think I have that idiot blocked, obviously he is a dummy.
Blocking folks over here?!? No trolls, all Skins fans.
That guy is a massive troll.
He is the only person I blocked here.
Gotcha.
Not by my definition anyway.
He’s not a troll, just a guy wanting a clutch closer on 3rdz and 4thz and redzones for the win.
You can’t keep every FA you have, guys leave you deal with it and move on.
Well this is some crazy science
https://www.livescience.com/62000-scott-kelly-dna-twin-study.html
Scott Kelly spent 1 year in space and his DNA is now different.
Technically at what point can we say he’s no longer human?
Yawn….bc’d by a few days.
Two at least
Aye
when the alien bursts out of his abdomen
So, next wednesday?
An alien bursting out of his abdomen wouldn’t prove he’s no longer human.
Change .01% of your DNA…you’re no longer human.
“Researchers tested both Kelly brothers before, during and after Scott’s year in space to map specific changes in the astronauts’ physical and mental health. Most of Scott’s physical changes — including his 2-inch height gain — proved to be temporary responses to the low-gravity, low-oxygen environment of space, NASA said.
However, genes involved in bone formation, oxygen deprivation, immune system responses and DNA repair remained transformed after Scott Kelly’s return to Earth, NASA reported. The reason behind this could involve a complicated reaction to an unusual type of stress: the stress of space.”
———————-
wow… mind blown. sure the height stuff is easily explicable, but i cannot imagine that changing DNA, but there it is. wonder what will happen in a few years. was it cosmic rays? wow. fascinating. nasa is going to publish some big study on this later. can’t wait.
Got to figure that radiation one gets when up in space played a part.
yeah… cosmic rays. but i would imagine that would randomly degrade DNA, not make it usefully adapt to new conditions, with in the lifespan of a single individual. that’s crazy talk. i can see the body adapting, but not the DNA. amazing. we’ll see.
Little known fact Scott Kelly is now part lizard.

Cowboys Free Up $7.5M Of Cap Space By Restructuring C Travis Frederick’s Deal http://bit.ly/2pfE6vq
wow teams just keep doing it.
Cowboys are gonna find a way to add Suh….watch.
They better free up a lot more space.
I bet they will. They can with Dez.
Dez isn’t going to take a pay cut.
Then they will cut him. I’ve read about some rumblings.
They need the room just for DLaw.
that’s just about enough space for the Cowboys to be able to sign their currently slated draft picks
And they’re not done either
They also need a ton of money to extend DLaw and Zach Martin.
To me…and I’m no cap expert….but wouldn’t you want to explore the idea of restructuring Trent, Kerrigan, and Norman’s deals?
I would, sure.
Been saying this for months
Vinny is not here anymore but folks don’t wanna make moves
But when we don’t sign anything they’ll be first to complain
I wonder what the plan is then in Ashburn? Stand pat….get bargain guys later….roll some cap space into 2019…is the FA market better next year?
I bet we could free up 10-12 million with those 3 deals.

Broncos Pick Up $12.375M Of Cap Space By Reworking OLB Von Miler Contract http://bit.ly/2FKJWfk
Mind blown!! – kon
I think all of this will be more clear when Alex Smith’s contract finally goes public, re: signing bonus. The Skins may not have anywhere near 20 mil left to get without hashing some new deals with current players first
Alex smith is going to cost 17mil against our cap this year that is already known.
That was his cap hit for KC, but he’s on a new deal now. Could be more or less.
From what I heard they left the last year in place and the extension kicks in next year. So no change to the cap.
I’ve explained this a jillion times. You are both right here. Yes, the first year is that base year BUT surely the extension contains a signing bonus. So everything else about his KC contract THIS YEAR is the same BUT they will have (I believe) to account for the signing bonus divided by four starting THIS year as well. So, if his signing bonus is 20 million, his cap hit is 22 million this year. the good news about that is that the fifth year of his deal has no dead money on it.
His cap space was already factored into the numbers the only contract not factored in was Richardson’s so far.
Sticking conservative with my estimates…after Foster, Everett, Dunbar, Hopkins, Smith, Richardson, and rookies… $14m in cap still to spend.

I’m sure Dan own his own jet.

League source says #Jaguars nearing deal with Redskins TE Niles Paul.
That’s it. Now we are guaranteed a comp pick in 2019
LOL
His beard alone is worth a second.
N Paul guarantees a 9th round pick.
We’re gonna be rolling in compensatory picks here. Flush even.
That is, if the FO doesn’t screw it up by bringing in FAs at those positions.
So I would be happy with any of the following picks at 13. I’m only putting names that have an actual chance to fall to us.
Payne or Vea
Ward
Will Hernandez or Nelson
Minkah Fitzpatrick
Roquan Smith
Ol
DL
Is where I want us to go
I have a lot of that but the other spots are needed also.
Still think we sign Sheldon Richardson. If so, changes priority.
We’re clearly not signing a FA RB or G. Really depends on what happens in FA.
they’ll sign a G. they have a 90 man roster
Sorry. I should clarify. Sign a starting caliber G.
They at least need to find a guard who can be a better starting option than Arie.
I’d be OK with Smith so long as they’re not going to Cravens him… is he a S or is he a LB? Could use speed at LB, esp when you watch Kerrigan try to cover a RB
Smith is a LB period.
Good list. I’d add James too, hard to pass on talent like that.
Yeah forgot about him.
it’s easy to pass on him. you have to sit Nicholson or Swearinger or have to make the call not to play him except as a backup year 1, and that doesn’t make the “GM” look good
Dont sign Z Brown…so we can waste a top pick on an ILB w so many other needs. Brilliant. Let 2 CBs go so we can spend our top draft pick on a CB…brilliant. Hopefully the FA door doesnt close to quick on the FO…
So looks like most people think the Browns and Denver will still draft QB’s even though they picked up guys in FA’s. We know the Jets will draft a QB and so will the Bills. We need as many QB’s to go before our pick as possible.
The Jest. I like it.
Who really knows but if 4 QB’s go before our pick that means someone good is dropping to us.
B-B-B-Bennie and the Jest
LOL
I agree, the QB’s will still go. Having a QB on a rookie deal is ideal, even if he holds a clipboard year one. That may be the ideal ideal actually.
True hopefully someone takes Jackson to then their will be 5 QB’s before our pick.
Having a QB sit for a year behind Bridgewater, Taylor, or Case “add a fucking “Y” on the end of your first name dick-hole” Keenum, is a great plan long term for a team.
It’s almost exactly what I thought the skins should do.
Yeah agreed
Agreed alex, especially the Skins part.
We don;t have the luxury of wasting a top pick on a QB to sit we have to many other issues.
I can live with the fact that they aren’t going that rout. But I still think this team was in need of a longer rebuild.
could happen if the Giants take Rosen
Still think the Gnats take a QB, too.
Good point that makes it even better.
We passed on Rothlesberger Wilson and Rodgers …by all means if that game changer QB falls to 13 we should pass…dont worry.
I think its safe to say we can probably rule Honey Badger out.
https://twitter.com/JosinaAnderson/status/974259510905917441
Yeah so can 90% of the teams in the NFL.
Brew coffee with beer is an awesome idea…..man….intriguing.
No
Right, after I wrote that I actually sat there and said… wait, that could work. Think you would have to cold brew it.
Saranac used to make an amazing coffee lager every summer, I usually buy a few cases when I see it.
ha
you know what I bet is safe?
2 L bottle of Code Red Mountain dew and a flask of vodka
Shouldn’t it be, brew beer with coffee?
well brewing beer takes a long time…brewing coffee takes 3-5 minutes. I think it could work.
bleh
That’s no way to marry the two flavors
Coffee has been a common ingredient in beer brewing forever, not a new idea.
It’s also a natural flavor note that you tend to get when making stouts and other dark beers, I believe it’s in the malts.
Tribute to Kirk. Love the music

Need some clutch closers up in this bitch
You know, sometimes I have wondered why no one in the NFL ever tries having a high end player or two that they hold off on playing till the 4th quarter, bring in someone who’s still rested when everyone else is out of gas? Something like an older once elite DE, or along those lines.
Rhythm
Get rhythm, or you’ll get the blues
^ Nice bc! I’ll have that one stuck i my head all day, which is fine.
nothin does you any good
when you’ve got
ten thousand baaaalllueees
See, I think if you are saying it’s part of the plan every game, that in itself becomes the larger rhythem of the team.
The player needs to be on the field. Getting a feel. Going in cold after hanging on the sidelines for 3+ quarters…
Use the player in reserve throughout the game. Then, send them in to close.
Designated baller………whaaaaaaat
The only spot you ever see anything close to that is if a team has a great stable of running backs, from time to time there’s a guy like that.
it’s either going to be a RB or as mentioned, an older once-elite pass rusher
what’s Dexter Manley up to?
there’s only like what 30 minutes of actual football played in a 3 hour game? Stamina shouldn’t be THAT much of an issue between starter and bench player imo
Greg, Bradham’s contract hasn’t been registered to the league yet. As soon as it has, his number and some other signings they’ve done, throws them back over the cap.
They’re going to have to either keep letting guys go or restructure a shit load more contracts…just to sneak in under. The more they do this, the more they have to eat it in the future.
I’m not a fan of kicking the can down the road.
Again the cap is easily manipulated
Make some moves
I just don’t wanna hear you pissing and whining about how they didn’t do enough when you don’t want them making space
The cap is manipulated…at a cost.
Fruk sake man…where were you when the Skins were in cap hell for close to ten damn seasons?
Are the cowboys in the same cap hell
Nope they just restructured Frederick and made space
Make some space and sign some guys
Yes, the Cowboys are in cap hell. They haven’t been able to make any significant acquisitions and the lost their starting MLB.
He doesn’t get it. I know he’s not dumb, but god damn…dude refuses to grasp the consequences of rolling contracts into the future.
It’s bizarre.
How old is Frederick
What’s the risk
can’t wait for bruce allen to begin fill those increasing-in-number gaps in free agency, so we can pursue BPA in the draft.
Bruce’s classic bit.
Wait till wave 3-4 of the signings to get some value guys.
mediocre effort yields mediocre results.
Get me a silver bullet, I’m acing this.

We have Sprinkles for that.
Yeah, ok
With the little we saw of him, I actually liked it.
We’ll see
and nonpareils
I agree. 2nd season, a full off-season and another camp. He could grow quite a bit.
for how long is the vikings defense going to be good? that’s the “window” for cousins. vikings are in a good spot for next season. imagine if the skins had a defense last season… or, the season before that or before that.
He’s getting a 3 year fully guaranteed contract. So that’s the window.
well, yeah, but are defensive players going to leave in the next year or two? seems to me like if you put cousins on a team with even a good defense, his team will do well.
Your question confirms the Kirk doubters. Top QBs can do more with less. That’s not a good signing for the Vikings. But we’ll see
my thought is that cousins lifted an other-wise awful team to mediocrity. he’s never had defensive help here.
the hope,, of course, is that jay can turn anyone into kirk cousins, and that cousins’ success was really jay setting the table for him to do well. i do love jay’s pass plays.
I pass on Jay turning anyone into Kirk Cousins. I’d rather him turn anyone into a clutch closer on 3rds 4ths and Redzone plays. Defense had nothing to do w those plays…
“Defense had nothing to do w those plays…”
——————–
well… it was a bad defense that put us in those desperate situations. that’s why i’m saying that kirk with the vikings is a great situation for kirk and the vikings. he won’t have to be the hero. “competent” is enough with a great defense.
Still gotta close out 3rd 4th and redzone plays…Minny. ’13 Hawks ’17 Eagles.. Pats…etc. gotta have a closer. We will see for sure
The Vikings have a very tough schedule next year and AR12 will be back. There chances of getting back to the NFC championship are slim to none.
slimmer
Norman counting $16.9M against the cap is insane.
You sound like a pats fan….
if he’s a top 2 or 3 corner in the league, it’s easier to swallow. i’m going with the “he was injured last season” narrative. he’ll be back to earn his contract this season. that’s my story and i’m sticking with it.
19.95 isn’t a whole lot of cap space. And by the looks of the top 50 available FAs…..there aren’t many game changers worth breaking the bank on. We’d be best suited just trying to keep Brown and Galette….maybe take a flier on a CB or LG…but that’s all I see. Possibly a Logan or Poe. Tandler said he thinks they kept a certain amount of space for just that very reason.
Poe
Yes Poe or Logan at DL. And retain the LBs…maybe get a CB or a Guard. We’d be lucky to achieve that.
Poe.
Somebody…bleeding away B and G’s
Ummmm…..
If Poe was all that last year…I would find it strange Quinn …a fine DC before HC..would let the guy walk after 1 year. Not sure Poe was all that last year fwiw.
Depends on what his asking price is and what the Falcons cap situation is like. You could really want to keep a guy, but have to make a sacrifice for the greater good.
I suppose. He hasnt signed w anyone yet. Lets see what happpens w him.
So Jay said he wouldnt mind if Skins drafted him a QB…or Bridgewater coming off a horrendous injury…but Flounder says thats “just stupid..he needs to win “now” ! Lol. Okay. But Flounder doesnt want to overpay or …even pay for our FAs or anyone elses…Lol. Win now tho Jay.
The only think Jay said that I disagree with was when he said he thinks Smith could be the starter for 5-6 years.
Outta the loop…
Patriots fans calling into Boston sports radio declaring the dynasty is coming to an end. Listening to fans of pats and skins and unless you knew their teams you couldn’t tell the difference.
f them to f-ing hell.
Towm Braidee sawks, pal
Kirk Cousins sucks, man
Idk, pretty clear difference
also, fwiw….our dynasty ended a long time ago.

Source: the Eagles created $5.407M in cap space in 2018 by converting $7.21M of TE Zach Ertz’s $8M base salary into a fully guaranteed roster bonus. Philly stays busy.
We need to make similar moves to free up space
No dude
On June 1, that bonus counts against their cap. The moves they’re making to clear cap today, will hamstring them tomorrow.
The eagle’s cap situation has them hurting right now. It shows.
Yeah they are hurting having just signed Nigel Bradham for 40 million
That’s hurting all right
Borrowing against the future. Me likey.
Hmmm. They keep adding …and restructuring. Tough deal.
Is Jermon Bushrod any good?
Maybe as a bouncer.
Lol
Looking at UFAs and I can’t find any decent ones. that Joekel kid is horrible

If they think Kirk is getting them to the SB they are sadly mistaken.
He lost me at ‘best’
Check back with that guy in September when the Vikings are 0-2

Hurt toe and nobody signed….. Jay, a helpless observer…….
LOL yeah Jay has no say, he just shows up to the building and coaches who they give him.
He’s clearly overpaid
Happy gloom ‘n doom day!
Any updated cap number for us now that things are official with Smith?
$19.95
Plus S&H
Call now and we’ll double the order. For free!
*knocks coffee over reaching for phone, sploooosshh!
*Poe reaches in his sack, flips you a quarter.
I wonder if the secret talks with Poe leak today?
doubtful
Yeah, they’ll prolly just wait till the press conference.
Happy Thursday!
Hpy Hpy
Is it true Alex Smith has a toe injury?
Yeah it fell off he will be out for the season.
Almost got all the gear packed up, we need beer.
Where are you headed?
Baja, season’s over
something is always in season somewhere. Maybe it’s tourist season in Baja? Lol
Yeah, fish, beer, senoritas, smoke, surf, música.
Get out the meat glue and put that thing back on.
Are we happy with the current TE’s we have I think we need to add another veteran who can play. Niles Paul was not that guy by the way dude had 15 catches over the last two years and no TD’s.
I think we need a motherfucker that can block.
Sprinkle can be. Hope he’s been lifting!!
Maybe.
You have one more year with Reed/Davis is my assumption. Guess it depends on what changes with Smith under center.
There’s some motherfuckers in this draft.
Ik
Here is who’s left.
1. Ndamukong Suh – Patriots, Seahawks, Saints, Cowboys reported to have interest in 31yo DT.
2. Sheldon Richardson – 27yo DT has reportedly generated interest from Seahawks and Vikings.
3. Justin Pugh – 27yo guard/right tackle visiting Cardinals. Injuries cost him 13 games last 2 years.
4. Tyrann Mathieu – Injuries cost him a step in ’17, cut by Cards. S/slot ballhawk turns 26 in May.
5. Dontari Poe – Top of interior DL market hasn’t moved yet. 27yo NT shined with 2017 Falcons.
6. E.J. Gaines – Drew early interest from Texans. Gaines was a difference-making CB for ’17 Bills.
7. Kenny Vaccaro – Slot CB/safety has drawn no reported interest. 15th overall pick in 2013 draft.
8. Adrian Clayborn – Has reported interest from Bucs, Patriots, Falcons. Had 9.5 sacks in Atlanta.
9. Josh Sitton – Released by Bears. Beat writers say Dolphins want him badly to solidify left guard.
10. Jordy Nelson – Raiders, Seahawks, Saints reportedly in the hunt. RZ/possession WR at age 33.
11. Morgan Burnett – Dom Capers’ defensive chess piece in Green Bay, playing S, slot CB, dime LB.

13. Ryan Jensen – 26yo guard/center visiting Bucs. Was Ravens starting C for all 16 games in ’17.
14. Bennie Logan – Disappointed as Chiefs’ 2017 nose tackle. 28yo, 2-down rotational run stuffer.
15. Eric Reid – 26yo experienced at both safety jobs & learned weak-side LB for last year’s 49ers.
16. Jack Mewhort – Was Colts best lineman when healthy. 26yo guard has persistent knee trouble.
17. Austin Seferian-Jenkins – Seahawks, Saints, Falcons, Jets all reportedly after 25yo tight end.
18. Tyler Eifert – Missed 63% of games last 4 years. Cleared medically. Market so far slow to form.
19. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie – Cut by Giants. 31yo slot cornerback already visited Redskins.
20. Zach Brown – Inconsistent but athletic 3-4 ILB/4-3 WLB. Rumors Raiders have shown interest.
21. Morris Claiborne – Man-coverage CB with ugly injury history. Shadowed WR1s for 2017 Jets.
22. Rashaan Melvin – Man-coverage CB coming off career year. Raiders, Packers, Colts interested.

26. Terrelle Pryor – Redskins ‘17 free agent flop reportedly on radar of Browns, 49ers, and Rams.
27. Mike Wallace – 31yo WR led Ravens in receiving last 2 seasons. Baltimore could still use him.
28. Johnathan Joseph – 34yo CB was big part of the problem in Texans ‘17 pass-defense struggles.
29. Mike Mitchell – Cut by Steelers. FS/SS victimized for far too many plays last year. 31 in June.
30. Pernell McPhee – 29yo pass rusher plagued by knee/shoulder injuries. Produces when healthy.
31. Jordan Matthews – 25yo slot WR coming off left knee/right ankle surgeries. Market very quiet.
32. Jay Bromley – Top-75 pick in 2014 draft with Giants offers rotational value at defensive tackle.
33. Kendall Wright – Led 2017 Bears in receiving. Coaches see Wright as limited to slot-only usage.
34. Davon House – Plus-sized CB has been hot and cold, bouncing from GB to JAX and back to GB.
35. Delvin Breaux – Super-talented CB let go by Saints after injuries. Drawing interest from Denver.
36. Nick Fairley – Impact DT if cleared to return from heart condition. Wants to continue playing.
37. Adam Jones – “Pacman” still capable of manning sub-package CB role. Turns 35 in September.
38. Tahir Whitehead – Made starts at MLB, WLB, SLB in Detroit. Better against the run than pass.

45. Martellus Bennett – Cut by Packers, Patriots in last 6 months. Injuries catching up to 31yo TE.
46. Danny Woodhead – 33yo passing-down RB released by Ravens after hamstring-ruined season.
47. Darren Sproles – Turns 35 in June. Coming off torn ACL. Reportedly intends to keep playing.
48. Connor Barwin – PFF’s No. 45-rated 3-4 OLB out of 46 last year. Not expected back with Rams.
49. Charles Johnson – Dead market since Feb. 26 release. 31yo DE was popped for PEDs in ’17.
50. Frank Gore – Reportedly close to signing with Lions. Below 4.0 YPC in 3 straight seasons.
There are still some CB options out there unless they feel comfortable with the guys they have and that will be a Manusky Jay decision.
Tonight on the Smithsonian Channel…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnPYP0PCwBY
Jay has two years left on his contract why the hell would he want a rookie QB, that is just stupid and makes no sense. Jay needs to win now and Alex Smith gives them the best chance to do that.
Makes ya wonder where they might be if we had drafted an early round QB the the first time whatshiseface started dicking us around.
Depends on who most those guys don’t work out anyway.
Disagree. If they were winning now I highly doubt the lack of FA activity would occur. To go in the draft with serious needs is not how you win now. I like Alex smith but he’s had 10X more talent and still couldn’t get it done…
^this 100%
I have no idea what drafting an early round QB in 15′ has to do with any of that.
Gruden has more input on roster decisions then most people think if anyone thinks Smith was brought in without Jay given the OK you’re a fucking idiot.
WOOT!
DW: Jay….Doug here. Hey man, we’re bringing in Alex Smith. Just go with it.
JG: Umm…okay.
Actually according to Galdi Jay has more power then Doug Williams, remember Jay is BA’s handpicked coach.
To people criticizing the A.Smith deal,
I bet you were pizzzing and moaning about how the cheapskate Skins weren’t will to pay up for the certainty and stability of locking down Kirk Cousins. I bet you said the Skins messed that up to play hardball. Now that the situation became untenable, the Skins went and paid up to find that certainty and stability with A.Smith. Are you still pizzing and moaning? Will you ever stop? Get over it.
That is all.
Is that all?
The move for Smith makes me feel pretty much like we will get roughly equal production from the QB spot as we did with Kirk. So the question remains – what are we doing to improve the other areas of the team that needed to be improved?
*Front – 7 (with a special interest in DTs, ILB)
*Strengthen Oline – need a LG and some depth, also need to start thinking about grooming replacement for TWill
Those are my priorities. One level down:
*Another starting caliber CB
I’m fine standing pat with the RBBC group we have, and I’m assuming that Cravens will be up and running (maybe a dangerous assumption, but given Grudens remarks, that’s what I’m assuming at this point). WR has been dealt with via P-Rich deal. From there it’s just a matter of finding talent-value picks at whatever spots come up in the draft.
pretty much what I’ve been saying for a long time fix both lines make them dominant
Zig-Zag_BC Rick Deez • 21 minutes ago
Right, thirteen is a fucked up spot, IMO
Lbsand Zig-Zag_BC • 10 minutes ago
Almost as bad as 14.
——————————
What’s funny is that in each round we pick in, we have the 12th,13th, or 14th pick. (round 7–two picks)
Yeah, they flip-flop us. I’m more talking about being in a spot where obvious high picks are gone and if you’re not careful, you reach and pick a scrub like Vita Vea.
Jay also said: “It became about how, going into free agency, are we going to chase Kirk around or go after Teddy Bridgewater,” Redskins coach Jay Gruden said. “You have a chance to get an established quarterback who has been as successful as [Smith] has been, consistently. So really it was a no-brainer.”
I would be more concerned if people were talking as if Smith really wasn’t a good fit for Gruden’s offense.
Somebody found the article……*passes bottle
*flip*
I am no good at posting articles. Clueless I admit.
*pours large sippy cup. 🙂
Good God the hysterics of the last two days is something . Now Gruden has no decision making input . Killing me
I’m glad I’ve missed the hysterics… so I’m not even sure what you are talking about
The bite is on.
On Smith…didnt sound like it to me. Nothing to die over tho man
Well then it must be true .
Yes. Sounds like he was in the loop initially… not later.
lol…so wait, was Jay watching the state if the union like everyone else when he found out about Smith?
Lol…
Do they do pi day where it’s 14/3/xx?
Okay….so would you rather take a QB at 13 or have Alex Smith for your 3rd and Kendall Fuller
Right, thirteen is a fucked up spot, IMO
Sucks is what it does
Out of step
Almost as bad as 14.
Right now… I’m fine with where we are at and what we did
Not gonna knock Smith…but this trade was an Allen save face quick in the night move…right wrong indifferent but premature. Gruden would have been happy drafting a QB.
they basically drafted a starting QB for the price of a 3rd round pick and Fuller
Tell us more …
Oh I don’t know if Gruden would have been happy drafting a QB considering he’s only got, what, 2 years left on his contract. His head coaching career with the Redskins heavily depends on how this QB does… does he have the time and talent to win with a QB drafted at #13?
Well he said as much…all I’m saying. I mean he is supposed to be the QB guru…so I would think his opinions would matter.
Finally saw Black Panther tonight, fun flick.
Annihilation
Cerebral stuff
Here’s another angle on the “popped up”. In an alleged quote from Alex Smith, he asked to see if they “could get me to Washington”. Redskins pounced before a bidding war could start.
It was a smart move…at least in theory.
Kinda like with Norman
Yes, the Redskins have “pounced” under Allen when they have an opportunity to get a really good player…just can’t go all Vinny and pounce on every Tom, Dick and Albert.
or Mo
Or Long or Campbell or Richardson or Poe etc etc or anyone else that could remotely help a draftless defensive line …outside of 1 player in the 1st 3 rounds in the last 14 years plus….
Dude, we dumped Kirk, you can’t drink anymore until you pay your tab.
I know. Just this FO irks me to no end sometimes…Its FA and we bleeding more than healing…
Which would lend to their upheaval sooner than being successful would, no? If you want them gone, they have to fail. You must pay the price, if you truly hate them. Where is your sacrifice, QGC, I’m not seeing it.
Irk….not as strong as ‘hate’
Then relax and enjoy the ride.
Where ya at 65?
So Stephen Hawking died on Einsteins birthday?
And pi day
And New League Year Day. What are the odds.
3.14 gazillion to one?
Nothing to see here, move along – Walt
Too much karma there……..
As weird, Stephen Hawking was born on the 300th anniversary of Galileo’s death.
Equally as weird… maybe even moreso
But this time there was a glitch, and he had to spend much of his life in a crippled body, which isn’t all bad. It probably taught him humility, he’ll come back even stronger.
I dunno guys…By “popped up” he could have meant that the team finally realize that Kirk was gone and they wanted to move fast on Alex Smith, the best of the FA QB’s.
Popped up could have been a trade presented itself that wasn’t expected.
Good point mj and rick.
Very surprised…..reiterated. Cmon man.
I know…but he could have meant surprised that he wanted to come here.
Yea maybe…but I doubt it.
Maybe the question was ‘Jay, how surprised where you that the deal for Alex Smith came together so quickly?’
So Gruden on Smith trade today: “I was surprised…very surprised. It did just kind of pop up”….
‘Kind of felt we were moving on from Kirk…I would have been fine w drafting a QB’…
Great job FO asking and keeping your Head Coach in the loop on your Quarterback decision. Not.
Poor poor FO operation the way I translate it….
…….”Very surprised”….. S M H
Nah, it’s not as bad as it seems. Jay has been hibernating and came out of it this morning.
Clowns
Not a good look by any stretch.
Says alot about his say on players…or they simply dont care about his opinions. Not a good look at all. Distasteful in my book. Good bosses dont supersede and undercut…
Green Bay fired their QB coach and cut Jordy Nelson without telling Aaron Rodgers
They figured that, on top of his period, would have been too much to bear.
Kinda reminds me of when the wife and child brung a rescue dog home without me knowing. It just kinda pop up.
Yeah, and I bet he/she became your best bud too.
He’s getting there. It’s only been a few months.
Ah, roger that. Enjoy, nothing like a ‘pound hound’. Hope it works out fantastic.
Yea like a wolf hybrid….
Do we know what the question was that Jay was answering?
Well on Alex Smith trade. John Keim piece this eve.
Just stop! Our FO is average and thats good enough!

Mo Harris had that sweet one handed TD catch (upon review) last year
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vc_p6SPB4c
Believe it was a Cousins overthrow?
Lbsand • a minute ago
Literally every team has a Mo Harris buried somewhere on their roster.
___________________________________________
If Ryan Grant got what he got, you can get at least a 6th or 7th for Maurice Harris.
I doubt it, but you have my permission to try. IMO, he has more value than that to the team.
Jordan Reed Player Overview
Reed is as injury-prone as he is talented. He has yet to play 16 games in his first 4 NFL season. Reed has suffered a myriad of injuries — including 5 concussions, one in November of 2013 that caused him to be placed on IR and missed the final 6 games. He caught 66 passes for 686 yards and 6 TDs in only 12 games last year. If he puts together a healthy 2017 season, he could breach 90 catches and 1,000 yards. But that’s a big ‘if.”
——————–
Obviously this piece was written before the 2017 season in which he only played in 6 games.
he’s got to be worth both Cleveland’s first round picks, right?
Hell yes! Package Su’a in there some how.
Reed for two picks; Reed and Su’a for one pick.
*pulls one, passes the bottle
Flip that bottle to me.
10-4
I don’t think the Redskins need another WR in free agency…
They’ve got:
Paul Richardson
Josh Doctson
Jamison Crowder
Brian Quick
Robert Davis
Maurice Harris
…and hopefully a healthy Jordan Reed and Fred Davis.
I think they should draft another guy…possibly a burner to return punts.
looking at the roster, the trade guy, if they have one, might be Jordan Reed
Actually, I think Maurice Harris has some trade value.
maybe package him with a 7th round pick for a 5th round pick?
Literally every team has a Mo Harris buried somewhere on their roster.
Agreed
Fred Davis???
Vernon…my bad
y’all are sleeping on Robert Davis
Well wake me up.
I have a feeling he will wake a lot of people up this year
I hope so
Draft one guy
I had Davis on my draft board and still want to draft a WR. I think we should have one more little squirrelly guy. Let them fight it out in camp.
You forget what you said the day that k0n brought it up.
Remind me
With ya there rick. Who do you replace the group above?
Quick
Yeah, the low hanging fruit. That kid from OK is a real, true burner and can return punts. Worth a look-see.
When do teams have to be under their cap?
rule of 51 started at 4pm EDT
The top 51 rule states that from the beginning of the League Year (early March) until the day before the first regular season game, only the highest 51 highest P5 (“Paragraph 5” of a standard NFL contract, which is typically the player’s yearly base salary) player contracts amounts will be included and counted against a team’s Salary Cap. Each team must be under the Salary Cap by the first regular season game.
The top 51 rule means that for any player whose P5, again essentially meaning base salary, is not among the team’s highest 51 Cap numbers, his base salary would not count against the team’s total Salary Cap number during the offseason. However, all of the bonuses a player who does not fall under the top 51 would count against the team’s total Salary Cap.
For example, imagine a team’s 51st highest Cap number is $500,000. The team’s next highest Cap number is $475,000, which belongs to a second year player and the base salary is $465,000. That means there is $5,000 of a signing bonus proration and say a $5,000 workout bonus. This player falls outside the team’s top 51 highest salaries, therefore the players base salary of $465,000 does not count against the team Salary Cap, but the $10,000 would count against the team Salary Cap. The rest of the players on the team who are outside the top 51 would not have their minimum base salaries count against the Salary Cap, but would have their bonuses or other compensation count against the team Salary Cap.
There are two exceptions to a player who is not in the top 51 counting against the teams Salary Cap. In the case of if an amount exceeds the minimum active/inactive list salary for an undrafted rookie free agent (meaning if an undrafted rookie receives a salary greater than the league minimum) and if any amount exceeds twice the applicable minimum active/inactive list salary for all other players. These two exceptions have been extremely rare because teams traditionally give undrafted rookies minimum base salaries.
Thanks
How would people feel with this pick?
13. Washington Redskins
Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State. The Redskins let cornerback Bashaud Breeland walk in free agency, so they need someone to play opposite of Josh Norman. Ward is often regarded as the best cornerback in the draft, so the Redskins scoop him up here.
I’d feel great about it. Need help at CB as things stand right now.
Yeah true that.
I guess…………..sigh
No fucking way! Big linemen only
Or…… ILB, S
Not at 13
Shit………im I all over it at 13
Not what I want. But, I’m on board with any pick that’s top talent at the the player’s position.
he is the 6th most popular pick for us in the mocks I’m tracking
Would be an excellent pick.

only beaten by a large glass of chocolate milk and two Morton’s honey buns
but hey it was the 70’s (except back then it was a can of Dr Pepper)
Morton’s AKA 650’s
Thought you were supposed to tuck a couple Snickers between those honey buns
now it’s a protein fiber bar and a bottle of water
Followed by a 32oz bubba cup of coffee to knock that shit loose.

yeah, I drink a lot of coffee before 10, no calories (or way less than 10) and the caffeine curbs the hunger
I assume no sugar in that coffee?
Is there some other way?
nor cream
Damn
Black
I drink black coffee
Like Folgers or do you go to a coffee shop?
I drink the cheap walmart stuff. Made in Puerto Rico, or some “shit hole” like that. Doh!
LOL
Lol
All the best coffees are grown in all the worst shit holes
I have a Kcup machine at work, or we brew a full pot at home, or we also have a T-disc machine at home if its just one of us that day. I like chock ful o nuts mid town manhattan blend (K cup) and plenty of others, but hey, Folgers Columbian ain’t that bad, generally we get starbucks ground coffee maybe nantucket or Lavazza (my fav, but not my wife’s), or something pretty decent when it is on sale, often when we have coupons AND sale. The t-discs are usually some european brand because half of it comes from the UK via Amazon (Tassimo machines are more popular in Europe), but you’re still paying 70-80 cents a cup. But the Tassimo will make an Americano, which is basically a non-dairy foam esspresso coffee (they call it that in Italy/Europe because during the War, Americans would water down the esspresso into coffee), and I like that a lot. What I DON’T do anymore is Aldi k-cups (Barissimo?). They’ll do in a pinch, but why if you don’t have to?
How the hell did the Browns acquire 5 picks in the first 2 rounds?
By sucking for many years.
So where are our picks then?
We haven’t sucked that bad.
HAHAHA
we’re only mediocre, not suck ass bad
Progressive dumbfuckery
It’s a thing
Sounds liberal

I can tell you what not to try, buckwheat groats.
Um… you’re not whispering
🙂
I can’t do him like that.
sugar is the new tobacco
If it’s added, processed sugar…yes.
If it’s just fruit. You’re fine.
That’s what i thought but people are saying it’s still bad.
I’m using banana and Blueberries with plain Greek yogurt and Almond milk.
Strawberries sometimes.
Totally fine
You’re doing just find there
Watch out for the added sugar in almond milk. I use original unsweetened.
Banana and just about any damn thing is good in a smoothie.
I’ve taken to doing fistfuls of kale with banana/strawberry – banana/blueberry – banana/pineapple – pineapple/strawberry….the smoothies turn green, but, can’t taste kale for nothing.
Yeah I used Kale a few times as well.
Only way I would ever eat Kale.
I like to mix Suja juice with carrot juice and POM for my veggie thing. I typicallt make protein shakes in the morning with 2 types of protein powder, almond butter, milk, Greek yogurt and one frozen banana… good stuff.
I have been looking for a protien shake my boss uses Vega One what do you use?
I use protein powders and make my own. ON whey protein and MusclePharm Combat Protein. The Optimal Nutrition is the highest quality whey fast acting protein you can get in mass produced form. The MusclePharm Combat is a blended protein with a lot of long acting protein.
Thanks
Banana, almond milk and a tablespoon, or two…of Hershey’s cocoa powder.
It’s a struggle to not do it one big draw of the straw.
You’d have to eat a pile of fruit to get even a fraction of the fructose in refined sugars.
OK thanks Kon
when people say fruits and vegetables are good for you, for the most part, they mean vegetables with a tiny snack sized serving of fruit. fruit is not something our body would have “evolved with” as it would have been available for only short periods of time in small quantities. for men, it is crucial to fill up on cruciferous vegetables, the indols have a very positive effect on testosterone and negative on the estrogen.
Nerd
Wonder what he thinks about bacon?
prob not terrible for you as long as you watch the preservatives (like nitrates/nitrites) and keep it to a dull roar
I bought a package of pork kielbasa a couple of weeks ago, it was a family pack on sale. and about Monday (3rd day) I started to feel really crappy. I had been eating them all weekend. I’m used to turkey sausage so I was taking in a ton of fat. a ton. because in a casing, the fat doesn’t hardly cook off at all
Your fingers are tired, eh?
Hold on now…sugar is our first fuel for a reason. Same with why we have such insatiable sweet receptors.
the new thing is to let your body go into ketosis for a few hours a day, so people now eat everything in 8 to 10 hour window and fast the rest of the day (includes overnight), so because of my schedule, I don’t eat breakfast until 10 AM. And then, it feels truly like breakfast IS breaking a fast.
good for you lime ice smoothies
in a blender mix
10oz crushed ice
4 oz lime juice
3 oz tequila
2 or 3 of those for breakfast and you should be just fine
LOL
What about the sodium, though?
He didn’t say salty rim. Keep up. hahaa
Why not just drink from the bottle, then?
I’ll fly, you buy?
Roger that
cause they are lime ice smoothies
smoothies was Flounder’s topic du jour
I can’t argue that………until I’ve had a few more of them.

Good fit.
he has to know he’s MAYBE going to have 1 year there, and then the bench
He wants to know who the big scary red headed dude is lurking in the weight room
Trent is moving back to DE… he’s lurking in the cafeteria
OMG, it’s Dalton on steroids!
Nah, it’s just Trent on steroids.
Fuck yeah

Also, Donald Trump sent mail bombs
Yuuuge ones
…and Mexico is paying for them
No tax break for any firm that helps build it.
Is that even safe?
Mail bombs typically aren’t very safe
Especially with Mexican circuitry.
…and bombiness
I never told you the story about the information module in the Chevy Venture vans (probably other models as well).
Solder melting point 10° below operating temperature of resistor.
Sounds like something Chevy would do
What happens in Mexico, doesn’t stay in Mexico
Yea. I read about that.
Some crazy asshole out that story out
People will believe it , you can believe that .
Haha!! Like The Donald has ever been in a post office.
He had them picked up at his mansion
This guy………..
Does it seem to you that this is a subpar free agent class and peeps are overpaying just to get SOMEONE?
Sort of
From Mike Freeman….Bleacher Report
The Minnesota Vikings got played.
There’s no other way to say it. They agreed to give Kirk Cousins, an average quarterback, a fully guaranteed three-year deal, a source confirmed to Bleacher Report.
Cousins is a solid player who will make the Vikings better, but he is also remarkably flawed. He plays down to his competition and isn’t the type of quarterback who can put a team on his back. He makes too many unforced errors.
Yet he is capable, and in this free-agent market—in this time in league history—capable gets you a megadeal. Capable allows you to fleece a team the way Cousins just did.
What comes next…is their own doing.
C’mon man, I hear sirens….
If he doesn’t take them back to the NFC championship or beyond next year then the signing was a bust only way the signing is justified is if they win the SB.
Agree
No more excuses for Kirky Baby
He’s gotta learn the offense first.
Ok, so one excuse
No excuses
2012 Obama campaign used Fusion GPS for dirt on Mitt Romney .
…and they found out that Donald Trump was the guy mailing those package bombs
…still can’t believe Ryan Grant’s deal.
Can’t believe you’re into Mia
That’s gross
Me either glad we didn’t make it. Murphy’s deal is outrageous also.
Orlando Brown does a 5.63s 40 and pushes 18 reps at his pro day
improves on his combine numbers, 5.85 and 14, respective
BEAST!
Already making gains on his bench. That’s nearly a third more reps than his combine. edge rushers better keep their head on a swivel.
Fuck edge rushers… corner backs better be lookin cause this guy is coming slowly down the field after them
Keenum got 2 years 36 mil with 25 mil fully guaranteed.
Caching

Turns out Donald Trump was the one mailing those package bombs to people…

Wide Receiver… BWAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!
The FO really screwed that one up.
That is, when the Browns tried to trade for him last year.
He left the browns why would they try to trade for him?
Short answer….
Browns
Just want one decent DT. Free up some draft options.
Yes.
I wonder what the asking price is on Suh.
Yes, my question also
they cut him with $22.2 DEAD cap
prob 3 years and 50 million g’d would be close.
Seattle is close to home, and maybe they could get something done in the 15 mil area for 3-4 years
Are there any free agents left? Are the cupboards bare yet?
Yes there are guys left.
I think there’s a dented can of pumpkin pie filling in the back, there
Next to the can of fruit cocktail
Oh yeah! Good eye!
Pretty sure I saw a managers special can of Garbanzo beans, too
Fuck man, we’re all set!
Hummus!
Banned substance
Old Hummus
So that’s Trent Murphy off to the Bills, eh?
Yeah we are thinking about canceling the season because he won’t be here.
Pretty sure he missed all of last season, they’re resigning Preston Smith that is better then keeping Murphy.
I find it interesting that the book on the Redskins is that we suck and can’t draft and develop guys, and yet here are a couple of our homegrown potential FAs finding deals early on, not to mention our QB is going to be the best paid player in the history of the NFL.
Yeah and sorry but you can’t keep everyone other teams have money also.
He got 3 year 30 mil no thanks on that.
Weird that there isn’t a bidding war going on for Zack Brown.

Wouldn’t give him more than that with his injury history
Makes no sense since they were trying to get him to take a pay cut.
That is a pay cut. $5m less than he was due.
Might be a candidate for one of them 1-year prove-it deals.
Seems like some fans are yearning for the days of Vinny.
Dude, the cops showed up, the party’s over.
Some fans will never be happy no matter what happens.
BTG would like the team to restructure all of its contracts and go on a $200mm spending spree.
Me, I’d like to see us sign Zach Brown and Gallete, and sign 2-3 more impact players. So, a restrained version of BTG.

Haha! Tremaine up to two!
I just don’t know why people think they’ll go S
Because they think Derwin James is a once in several years talent on a par with ST21.
great. but he’s got to beat out either Nicholson or Swearinger in camp. and to hear people talk about what Nicholson did last year, he was in fact, a game changer for the defense. I just don’t think it contributes to getting your best guys on the field is all. Maybe next year they cut Swearinger and there you go… James and Nicholson. but if he’s ST21, he won’t be there at 13.
Suh is the DJax of defense. He’s going to do his own thing, come in in great shape, and ball out. Just don’t expect him to be a rah rah team guy.
He has to respect you, so yeah, you shouldn’t sign him D_C, he might rape you.
It can only be rape if you object to it

That is a big loss in the heart of Trump country.
It ought to have those in the GOP running for election in November in a quandary. Take Trump’s endorsement or run away from it.
people just want whatever the uncandidate and this guy sounds like an unDemocrat
I thought Trump Country consisted of Manhattan, Atlantic City, and a small part of SW Florida.
With the exception of this past presidential election, I thought Pennsylvania was a blue state.
It was/is. Hilldawg blew it.
*geographically challenged for the moment*
all better now
Yeah, it was reliably blue until President Trump finally won it back. The party in power always loses some in the midterms. It’ll be okay – I think the good guys will still have at least either the House or Senate when the mid-term is over (hopefully the Senate, if I had to choose), and that’ll at least be enough to stop the insanity of the congressional liberals.
This district was represented by a Republican since 2003.
They get to do it all over again in November.
Chase Daniels getting 2 year 10 mil deal with 7 mil guaranteed from the Bears.
Hey Kong Suh, you made 60 million in Miami, you wanna come play for me in DC for way less than that? C’mon man, it’ll be fun. You’ll have help, do it for honor! – Tomusla
The Redskins might be able to package something that gets him about a $12 mil cap hit this year, but then they’d be done. Everyone else is vet min or draft pick.
He’s 31, right? If he don’t go for that……FUCK’EM! – Tomusla
but a 3 year deal would be hard to get the cap low enough for this year without really being dumb 4 years from now. not going to happen here. whether you like the guy or hate him. not coming here.
Take it or leave it. It’s YOUR honor on the line, not mine….
4th and game
And you have to face
Preston Smith
N Suh
M Ioanidis
J Allen
R Kerrigan

I like Suh, he just needs things to focus on, like he’s autistic, sort of.
Alex Smith in the house with Larry Michaels . He has been bothered with a toe injury , didn’t know that .
Warm up McCoy.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
Cousins was brought in to back up Siemien!!!! Jokers on Cosuins!
trade makes no sense to me other than the Broncos don’t want their starter looking over his shoulder at all at the previous starter
Or Minny likes him as a backup.
After spending $80 million guaranteed for KC, they get a backup with experience in Siemien at a cheap $2mil/yr price.
They’re not ready to completely give up on Lynch?
why would they do that? don’t they know what that’s going to do to the clubhouse dynamic?
Cousins is now going to be looking over his shoulder at Trevor and that will cause Cousins to throw back braking interceptions.
You’re in traffic, on a bridge, on your phone, aren’t you?
No. Worse. Working….
I thought there was some talk to text happening
Ah, the backup
Dallas Cowboys Est. Cap Space (Top 51): $689,082
w/ projected draft pool: -7 million
That is enough to sign whoever they want at whatever price they want without restriction because the cap is crap!
https://twitter.com/diannaESPN/status/974031094902386688
Dallas doesn’t have any cap space – kon
a LTD for D Lawrence would help make it happen + cut Dez Bryant + Hanna
Yep. Not even sure that would be enough. They’ll still have to do that to get enough money to sign their rookies.
Which might happen regardless
and maybe trade Sean Lee
They’d have to restructure a lot to get that done. Not sure how many big contracts they have out there that can be restructured. I think they’ve already extended Jason Pteres until he’s like 90.
He plays for the eagles
Just saying
They are paying Eagles players too?
Sorry. Meant Tyron Smith.
They knew who you meant.
Didn’t they window shop a WR earlier, maybe AR, that they knew they couldn’t afford.
They don’t. They would have to release a bunch of guys if they want to sign Suh.
https://twitter.com/JosinaAnderson/status/974032813652668422
May be because getting that done would take a lot of work. Probably coming from Suh’s agent.
Russini put in a lot of “work” for that “information”
Clearly taken advantage of because, you know…
‘Interested’? I’m sure they are. Rule of 51 a snag right now though.
Let’s relieve one of Cleveland’s 2’s for Nsehke.
Do that in a second I would

No way — not at his age.
xxx
Aaron Rodgers is older and he’s about to get a manure cart full of money. He’s a QB, not a DB.
Though, I don’t know that Alex Smith would have gotten the most ever. He got lots of respect coming in going #1 overall, but since maybe year 3 he hasn’t been respected; not even after that epic performance / matchup with Drew Brees in the playoffs.
Cmon, man — ASmith is no ARodg.
what does that have to do with anything. you talked about his age.
There are maybe 2-3 QBs who are good enough to transcend the age problem, and Rodgers is one of them.
if the premise is age, then AR’s contract should be less because of his age unless you are saying past performance is some indication of biological longevity as it relates to the QB position
Who is the top LT in the draft? That’s who the Browns will Target with #4, or lower if they trade out.
Lousy LT draft I hear.
Orlando Brown who completely bombed at the Combine.
Browns can send their #4 to Buffalo after taking Darnold at 1, then grab their LT and another pick.
This shit is easy, man.
He did much better at his pro day, although still pretty bad.
The Texas longhorn dude?
The Notre Dame dude?
Chase Daniel get 10mil from the Bears to be a backup, he gets paid more for doing nothing then any guy ever.
Ahem.
-Bradford
A year?!?
no for 2 years so 5 a year.
Ah, thanks. Crazy.
SM will be searching for the next Matt Jones and Sua Cravens in this draft
After all those years of losing, you’d think Joe Thomas would want to hang around at least for the start of the resurgence. Not that he has anything to prove. First ballot HOFer all the way.
1 – 31 does strange things to the psyche.
Who the hell are all these guys? I’m out.

Forgot the Browns were working with SM. Is he a draft consultant or does he have a larger role within the organization?

Seantrel Henderson flies into Houston tonight, his physical is Thursday. Texans signed him to one-year deal worth up to $4 million.
Have the Cowgirls done anything yet besides tag Lawrence haven’t heard them mentioned.
Can they afford to?
They can’t.
But unlike us they already have a talented roster and aren’t losing a bunch. They also have several stars on their O that are under rookie contracts and probably one of the best DC ‘s in the league to overcome the overall lack of talent on the defense.
Because how many players did we lose from this untalented roster in the last 48 hours
There roster is not that talented.
They lost Hitchens.
Still working to free up some cash.
Do the Browns has an inhouse option to replace Joe Thomas that’s a huge loss.

Mike Mcglinchey. Or maybe the speedster, Orlando Brown.
That’s why they signed Solder. They knew he was seriously considering retirement. He may have already told them privately.
They did? Thought he went to the gints.
Ummmmm… The Gnats signed Solder.
Yeah! That’s right! I just make shit up! Wachoo gonna do about it?!
Oh … never mind.
Solder plays for the giants.
Doesn’t look like teams are knocking Brown’s door down kind of like last year.

He went to the Jags, not feeling any pain

I think if Smith had hit the market, he would be getting something like Kirk got, 100% gtd.
No way — not at his age.
Maybe not as long. Maybe only 2 years. But I think his value would be very high.
Yeah, I think the annual would have been in the same neighborhood, but less guaranteed and with more incentives built in.
As is, aren’t we giving him roughly 15 M a year in guaranteed?
Not sure, but to be honest I don’t know that he would have gotten a much better deal on the open market. He had the leverage.
Who cares.
That’s not a choice, follow the rules.
What do you think he would have gotten
Cold. lol
https://twitter.com/AllbrightNFL/status/974017675784609792
Ah, hence signing John Brown.
I reckon it’ll still cost someone $12-$14 million/year to sign Suh.
And he’s a 4-3 guy.
Meh, so are we 70% of the time.
Good reason to be in it 100% of the time.
Teams are in nickel more than anything else.
That’s not an admissable excuse
He’s a dick
But he’d be Tomsula’s dick
Thrashin’ around out there……slappin’ peeps upside the head. He’s a smart dick, too, knows all the calls.

“Well, clearly, we’re going to have to score a lot of points – not sure with who yet, though, since they let Grant walk. Fuck, I’ll be lucky not to be Theismanned since they let Long walk. And, then there’s no one on defense. Shit, everyone left. God damn, not sure they’ll even be able to field 11 players.”
Long that is laughable dude barley played last year.
Long was a rice player. I hops we get a good replacement for him. Wheat should be able to save some money there.
Maybe too much barley and hops wuz his problem?
