The Bloviating Gasbags Go Hypothetical
Our intrepid talkers spin pipe dreams on what they’d like to see in the next NFL CBA, breakdown new NFL rule changes and laugh at the ridiculous idea of two potential new pro Football leagues. They also check in on the IJB Police Blotter and talk coke dealer extortion schemes against former ESPN head honcho John Skipper, Michael Bennet running down elderly paraplegics and smuggling in good times to Costa Rico.

#Broncos got better today
LOL this bitch needs to keep her mouth shut.
I guess it makes her feel better. Ho hum. And if he gets his head screwed on better, they did get better.
Hey. hey.

I suppose you can spin it as the old sunk cost theory but there’s no way around the fact that the #Redskins got a fire-sale price for their 2016 second-round pick.
__
WTF were we supposed to do? Let him walk for nothing. I guess it sucks he didn’t live up to whatever the expectations of a 2nd round pick is…but damn it aint the end of the world.
If the people in the US who have any pull with regard to the sport of rugby are looking for a great time to overthrow the game of football…now’s your chance.
If rugby were an option as a sport starting in high school, it would take off like a rocket with all the shit that’s happening with the game of football/
There’s a US rugby league that started last year, and is expanding a bit this year.
I’d love to see Rugby become something, even close to what Soccer is in the US.
https://www.usmlr.com/
Fuck soccer. Every 4 years people talk about soccer taking over in the US. It is forgotten in less than a week. Never gonna happen. Ever.
I’m just talking about the idea of US rugby being a sport with 15-20 K fans at games, 20 teams, something like that.
Volleyball and soccer will largely be women’s sports in America so long as football is king at the college level, because primarily: Title IX

Giants floating out there they would only consider two 1sts as a starting point if someone wants to talk about dealing for OBJr.
The new Ginas GM is the same dude who let Norman go and Steve Smith etc. and I could see him dealing Beckham to the first team that offers him a 1st and a 3rd.
Dallas would. The Patriots would. Shit the Rams seem to be picking up everyone so maybe they make an offer.
My point is, I think OBJr is on another team in 2018.
Pats would categorically not make that happen
Ikr?
– Corey Dillon and Randy Moss and Albert Haynesworth
Which of those costs a first and third?
Which of those was one of the best non-QB players in the game?
The point was related to the player’s knuckleheadedness never really being a big deal historically when they go to the Pats. Even Ocho Cinco. He didn’t make it but he sure curtailed his douchebaggery.
That was my point and if the Pats wanna set the table to get back for one or 2 more runs, having a player like that goes a long, long way to achieving that end.
A trade with Dallas prob involves Dez

New #Broncos defender Su’a Cravens is versatile, but my understanding is he’s considered a safety for Denver, not a linebacker. They have been high on him since he was a draft prospect
Well, weed is legal in Colorado.
but not in NFL
Weed is not legal in Colorado.
The State of Colorado only has regulations that govern it’s use, and as States do not enforce Federal law, it is not often prosecuted there. However, if Mike5790 goes to Colorado and smokes weed, and his job finds out about it, it is a fire-able offence because in the United States of Costa Rico it is still illegal.
Not sure anyone was going to plan for him to play LB more than a season before moving back to his natural position of safety anyway. Who doesn’t know this?
the key is the player valuations they placed on the 2014 class
they wanted to keep Murphy and Grant but at a certain price point
those two got more than we would offer and then we signed Quick before Grant’s deal fell through
Long and Breeland they did not want to keep
Going back to 2016…here are the dudes who went after we got Cravens. Anybody on this list a star?
54 Minnesota Vikings Mackensie Alexander CB Clemson ACC
2 55 Cincinnati Bengals Tyler Boyd WR Pittsburgh ACC
2 56 Chicago Bears Cody Whitehair G Kansas State Big 12 from Seattle [R2 – 12]
2 57 Indianapolis Colts T. J. Green CB Clemson ACC from Green Bay [R2 – 13]
2 58 Pittsburgh Steelers Sean Davis S Maryland Big Ten
2 59 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Roberto Aguayo K Florida State ACC from Kansas City [R2 – 14]
2 60 New England Patriots Cyrus Jones CB Alabama SEC
2 61 New Orleans Saints Vonn Bell S Ohio State Big Ten from Arizona via New England [R2 – 15]
2 62 Carolina Panthers James Bradberry CB Samford SoCon
2 63 Denver Broncos Adam Gotsis DT Georgia Tech ACC
Aguayo?
Cody Whitehead would have been a good get.
He was the only guy I think we were kinda high on up here back then. So it wasn’t like it was a bad pick per se…..He couldn’t have reached for a 3rd round guy?
Coulda had Maliek Collins
So how would you feel about this scenario
trade back in 1st and pick up third
we draft 1 Guice, 2 Wynn, 3 BJ HIll
Ankle pants
^^ I’d rather get the best DL and OG 1-2. But trading back is def what I want.
If we had a good team chock-full of talent, sure.
We are not that team so we need the best available players out there, i.e. we need a first round player because we are likely to get a very, very good player following the scramble for QB’s at the top of the draft.
We’d be screwing ourselves and giving another team the chance to take what might be a top-5 type of player at #13 for their scraps.
NO
I think you don’t make that trade until really close to the time to pick, and you do it if you have still a handful of guys you’d really like to have on the board still and you don’t trade too far back or out of the 1st round. maybe. still could get boned, but then again, whomever you took could be a bust, so… there’s risk all the way around.
Now that Kirk is gone Alex will carry the team on his back and deliver victories. We don’y need more talent or better players. We got rid of the problem with this team.
Kurt who? – BA
Laughing… exactly.
he might for a few games a year, but he’s going to need help from his weapons
Kirk sucks. Glad he’s gone.
Yep and now that Alex is here we’re a winning team.
Yes sir.
Not until they improve their physical preparation, they’ll be an injury prone team
Kirk never missed a game and he was hit a lot.
I mean, in general, not specific to the QB position
I’m just screwing around… I have to go to the doctor today.
Dr. Fudgefinger?
I thought you were talking about Javon Wims for a second there. And I was like, prob day 3 for sure, nice pickup, but 2nd round?
AWW dang man firstpick.com hasn’t updated yet 🙁
Someone needs to tweet at SM and excoriate him for these crap picks
People are tweeting about how Bruce blew this
but Scot blew it by drafting him
Bruce got some value in return for a player you could not put back in that locker room
Right….not sure why people don’t see that. We got something at least. We might have had to release him and get jack shit.
People who blame Bruce are just galactically stupid
Because Bruce hired Scot…
that’s true Bruce does have ultimate culpability
Bruce might be a d-bag but since Shanny left, I think he and the FO have done a pretty OK job. Inevitably though, that is probably the ceiling for Jay Gruden, and for the Skins to go to the next step of perennial playoff contenders in the final week, they might need …
…to drop a bagillion dollars on Nick Saban…
*Vinny Cerato swings cowboy hat overhead and say, “yeeeeeeee hahaaaahhwwwwww!!!”*
Shanny religiously traded down to get more picks, to bring in younger/cheaper players, to turn over a roster of old and overpaid under performing guys. He turned the entire roster over in 3 years and laid the groundwork for the rebuild. Gruden inherited a MUCH better team than Shanny did.
not blaming Shanny, but that period also coincided with capgate and rg3gate. I think though, Shanny was a better coach than a GM.
Yep
Here’s the part I don’t get.Scot’s mantra was to draft ‘football players’, yet the Skins never scheduled an interview with Cravens, who had quit on his team once before.
there were flags to be found

What a fat fuck troll he is.
Hope
They were not going to pay Murphy what the bills did
They have a better player in Roullier than Long so they weren’t going to retain Long
The contract that Grant signed originally was ridiculous
The losses when you flesh them out make total sense
I think they thought Long was going to get more than what they wanted to offer, so “better” in terms of “value” at least
Well Greg, when it comes to this front office almost nothing makes sense. They couldn’t find their ass with both hands, a flashlight, a map, and a Sherpa in my opinion.
You’re confused. You are obviously talking about the Trump administration.
Oh… Trump snark… hilarious…
Re-read what I wrote
It makes sense
You can’t pay everyone
This front office has made bad decision after bad decision ever since Bruce Allen has been here. Dysfunction central is what I’d call it. Astronomical fuck-up’s.

Doug Williams and John Elway both phoned Su’a Cravens after the trade prompting his agent, Peter Schaffer, to say, “How often does a young kid get calls from two Super Bowl MVPs back-to-back in five minutes?” Of Cravens’ desire to play long-term,… http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-40018531-4 …

Conditional 6th-round pick in 2020.
Thanks in a meeting
Announce it, they’ll care!
trade details now know according to sources…
Wow go to lunch and Suzy is gone! More picks!!!
Bingo
Fuck yeah I am stoked.
You’re stoked about getting a 5th round pick for a 2nd round pick? That’s like buying something for a dollar and selling it for 50 cents.
Well he was never gonna play here, so it’s better than releasing him….DUH
Whoopee… your phenomenal front office in action.
He’s damaged goods and a head case. I’m okay with that.
I get that Austin, but we keep going backwards here. We don’t get anything for our good players who leave the team, and the net is we’re getting worse not better in my opinion.
net is one pick this year, maybe one next year
and move up a couple of spots mid day 3
The players we end up with will contribute more than sua would have
Yes, because that would be 0 + something.
POOOONNNNAAAAAAA!!!!
Alex Dunlap @AlexDunlapNFL 1h1 hour ago
Poona Ford w/ a short shuttle in the 4.47 to 4.5 range – would have been fastest at the combine.
Brian Davis @BDavisAAS 1h1 hour ago
Poona Ford’s 9.3 broad jump and 7.4 time in 3-cone shuttle would have been among top 5 of all DTs at the NFL combine. And he wasn’t invited.
alex briseño @AlexxBriseno 1h1 hour ago
Naashon Hughes: 4.73
Poona Ford: 4.94
That move up in the fourth will net him for us
He’s well known in these parts for his work ethic. Team Captain. I’m guessing he was chomping at the bit after the combine snub.
Scouts from all 32 NFL teams at Texas Pro Day.

cherry on top
I don’t think that is guaranteed. I actually think it would be somewhat miraculous if it happened.
It is if he makes it to the playoffs.
Yeah, knew it was something like that.
We should get the 6th if he makes it out of training camp. That would be miraculous.

I’d rather talk about citizenship and census than this Cravens situation. Does D_C still think the Constitution was written to protect the anonymous status of illegal immigrants?
Let ’em all in. Give them an easy path to legal status, and make ’em pay taxes.

Just an observation but this franchise seems to be always making the best of a bad situation. I mean every single year.
Better than making the worst of a good situation?
That’s comforting…
So McPhee’s contract is only 1 year for $1.8M…
Easy to stomach
Obviously a player in high demand…

POOOOONNAAAA!!!

Steve Czaban @czabe
Su’a Cravens was a 2nd round pick, who did not play this year after going AWOL. We claw back a 5th round pick, and cut in line a whopping 8 spots in the 4th and 5th rounds. Please do not paint this as WINNING. It’s having your car pulled out of a lake, so you can save your CDs.
________________________________
This is where I am.
So what where they supposed to do? it is the best possible outcome considering the position he put the team in.
I’m not saying I had a better idea. I’m saying this whole situation is a crap sandwich, and we just put a slice of cheese on it to make it go down smoother. Yeah…we did what we could, I suppose. Still don’t care much for crap sandwiches…that’s all.
I agree but it is what it is you make the best of a crap situation and move on.
Fwiw, 8 spots in the fourth is a significant move.
That comes down to how well FO makes draft selections. But It could make a difference.
When there’s a few gems left hanging around.
Meh… more Scot failure purged from the team. Now we’re on to Bruce failure…
Suzy was a goner anyway
Sure it’s a win considering Cravens flaked out and wasn’t coming back
Right, but he was already a failure. Skins played damage control and did OK. The screw up was in drafting him 2 years ago and the guy who loved him isn’t here anymore so what does Czabe want?
https://twitter.com/P_ConnerJr/status/979021502862512130
Who was it that was saying we could only get a 2019 pick for Cravens? Tandler?

Good move for us
Yeah
Nice. Teammates weren’t going to welcome Suzy back anyway.
Nope
Dysfunctional
Sounds good to me.
Matt Jones is the next Marshawn Lynch- SM
Cravens loves football- SMcloughlan
Mcloughlan from the clan McClooghlan
Cravens wasn’t wanted in this locker room so be glad we got anything for him.
The waterboy hears stuff
Yeah I heard the players talking about him being a quitter.
I heard Mia pegged him.
I’m pissed that yet another high-round draft pick and talent craps out, creating yet another hole to fill on defense.
but that hole was in ’16, not last year
a hole that was created in ’16 and was left unplugged throughout ’17…or are we convinced that DeShazor Everette is the future SS of this team?
Well the guy quit after the draft and FA’s so tough to know he was going to quit without a crystal ball.
I got some kids in mind….
Nicholson
IdI like to see him move to Free
coaches really love Nicholson, if he can stay on the field
Yeah well shit happens maybe the great Scot should have done better scouting.
What options did they have??
Yeah especially since he didn’t quit until after FA’s and the draft.
What hole? Dude didn’t play…
Anyone scouted the bag of Fritos we are getting for Cravens? Is it an in-the-box type of defender or can it run deep with the WRs?
Were getting picks not a player
Right…we are swapping some spots in the 4th and 5th rounds…I’d rather have the Fritos.
Be glad you got anything for that bum.
It’s a draft pick. We can choose Fritos, Ruffles or pork rinds
Swapping spots in the mid-lower rounds, I think there’s only going to be Funyuns that are past date.
Right no good players have ever come in the 4th or 5th round.
There always pork rolinds
So are the exact picks known yet in the trade?
No
Thanks
frediefritz noonefromtampa • 11 minutes ago
so we are getting either 106 or 109, plus 142 and 160, for Cravens, 113 and 151. So by my calculations, this is equivalent to a late 4th or early 5th rd pick
The 4th would be higher than our current 4th and so will the 5th.
yes, plus 160
Yeah it’s just not been started whether they are all 2018 or not
I’m pretty sure they are ’18 picks. Although the one 5th round pick could be ’19

Charles Tyrwhitt. Good quality and fit. Not too good for Kohls just like a little nicer. Brook Brothers shirts are some of the best but I’m not paying over $300 for a dress shirt. Sorry.
___________________
BB is not $300 a shirt. Its what I wear. Usually price is like $90/shirt, but they regularly go on sale for like 4 for $199 throughout the year. If you go to the outlets for Memorial Day or after XMas sales, you get them for like $30/ shirt or less (usually some like 40% off sale).
I’m not sure my entire wardrobe cost $199
white new balance sneakers too right from Costco?
Lol. No. Shoes are the one thing I will drop coin on. Gotta take care of the feet.
I’m not even sure what brand most the shirts I have are.
I go to an outlet, see something I like and buy it. Wear it till my wife complains that it needs to go in the trash.
I wear mostly Polo and Nautica but I buy it all at Marshall’s
http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Egyptian-Cotton-Slim-Fit-Micro-Check-Luxury-Dress-Shirt/ME01101,default,pd.html
I have a friend who only wears BB and they’re very nice shirts, I just don’t want to spend that much. He also paid over $300 for a certain BB shirt. I’ll find out the name and paste it
I’m not paying $300/shirt. I even have the Brooks MasterCard (that’s how much I shop there, but I stock up at the holiday sales). I have like ten unopened shirts in my closet; rotate in as necessary.
Oh, off the rack stuff. I’m talking about made to measure. Their Sea Island Cotton made to measure shirts are amazing
Gay post of the day.
I prefer my jockeys made to measure.
lol….i don’t spend that much but in my profession appearance matters. You’re funny
I’ll admit I didn’t think we could get a ham sammich for Susan. Kudos to Bruce for getting something
To anser your question from the last thread nobody would trade for Kirk when they knew he wouldn’t sign long term.
Maybe, I’ve been over Kirk for a while now anyway. It’s over, thank god. I hated losing Fuller to get Alex but one position we’ve drafted pretty well is CB so hopefully we find a suitable replacement
Denver has 2 5th rounders in 2018 #142 and #160
also 2 4th rounders #106 and #109 both are higher than our #113 in the 4th
so we are getting either 106 or 109, plus 142 and 160, for Cravens, 113 and 151. So by my calculations, this is equivalent to a late 4th or early 5th rd pick
Just 113, from how it reads.
I think we get a 5th and exchange a 5th
Not so sure.

We switch picks in the 4th and the 5th plus get an extra 5th
So we are moving up in the 4th and 5th and getting an extra 5th
why are we sending a fourth round pick too? wtf?
Gotta read all the deets
yes sir
The Denver Broncos will trade a fourth-round draft pick and two fifth-round draft picks to the Washington Redskins in exchange for one fourth-round draft pick, one fifth-round draft pick and safety-linebacker hybrid Su’a Cravens, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
It is not yet clear if the picks are for the 2018 or 2019 drafts. Denver is swapping fourth- and fifth-round picks and throwing in another fifth.

oh
You too good for Kohl’s, or something?
Charles Tyrwhitt. Good quality and fit. Not too good for Kohls just like a little nicer. Brook Brothers shirts are some of the best but I’m not paying over $300 for a dress shirt. Sorry.

not yet
I’m just kidding. I may wear a dress shirt this weekend, lol.
Kohl’s is overpriced too unless they have a sale or you have Kohl’s cash. Retail prices there are twice what they should be so when they have a sale that just brings it down to the price it should have been to start with
Clearance rack + be nice to the girl at the register and she’ll let you use the 20% off coupon you just pulled up on your phone. IZOD, Van Heusen, they got some nice stuff. $9 bucks for a golf shirt.

Your score is: 19201 (GRADE: B-)
Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 30 (MINN): Hernandez, Will, OG, Texas-El Paso (A-)
Round 2 Pick 12: Samuels, Jaylen, RB/WR, North Carolina State (B-)
Round 2 Pick 30 (MINN): Settle, Tim, DT, Virginia Tech (B+)
Round 3 Pick 30 (MINN): Toliver II, Kevin, CB, LSU (A+)
Round 4 Pick 13: Moore, JMon, WR, Missouri (A+)
Round 5 Pick 12: Breneman, Adam, TE, Massachusetts (C)
Round 6 Pick 14: Ford, Poona, DT, Texas (A+)
Round 7 Pick 13: Tate, Auden, WR, Florida State (A+)
Round 7 Pick 23: Flowers, Tre, SS, Oklahoma State (A)
I know Breneman looks like a reach but I believe he will do well. Blocks and catches the ball nicely. Need a blocking TE.
In case anyone was wondering, the Redskins ran the ball 42.6% of the time last year, which is significantly more than 2016 (38.44%) and about in line with 2014 (42.3%) and 2015 (43.6%). The 2014 rushing percentage was ranked 16th and the 2015 percentage was ranked 11th. 2016 was ranked 26th.
This shows that Jay truly was pass happy in 2016, but not 2014, 2015, or 2017. I haven’t done the math yet on the 2017 year, but I suspect it’s somewhere in the middle again if 2014 and 2015 are a guide.
http://www.thehogsty.com/2017/01/20/do-the-redskins-really-need-to-run-more/
I would have not guessed that 42 percent . Would have thought lower .
That’s because the narrative about Jay amongst the fanbase is that he’s some sort of Arena League passing freak, but he really isn’t. Go back and look at the data from the Bengals. It’s in the column.
Well like you said , last year was different in that they ran it more often . So it kind of snuck up on me without realizing it .
Now imagine what the offense would look like with a talent like Guice at RB rather than JAGs like Perine or Kelley.
Oh yeah , but the overall scheme is lacking something . It’s predictable as hell for one thing . Everybody and their brother knew when we were going to run the ball.
Well, everybody knew we would run on first down, but I’m not sure about their brother
He was passed out drunk, but there, nonetheless.
Steve, this site has different numbers than you quoted. It says the Redskins ran the ball 40.8% of the time (18th in the league) not 42.6% as you stated. Not sure what the right number is.
https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/rushing-play-pct
My formula is this:
Number of passes + number of runs = total plays
Number of runs / total plays = run %
Data is from Pro Football Reference
The variance is due to how each site counts QB scrambles and sacks.
Most of our scrambles ended in with sacks, fwiw.
So you count a pass play that results in a scramble as a running play. Which makes it look like we ran the ball more on purpose than we did?
The pass play numbers are number of pass attempts; run plays include QB scrambles (some of which are intentional – alot for teams like Seattle). If you don’t buy it, that’s fine. Not trying to force it on you.
Perhaps I’ll update this for next week’s post and break it down further.
Steve, sorry for being a pain. I should be clear in what I would want to know about how our team approaches the running game. In my opinion it is the number of called run plays versus the number of called pass plays that show a team’s propensity for running the ball. That said I get that these days the offense can run a RPO play which is a third type of play altogether.
The problem is that we don’t always know what’s a called passing play – is a QB scramble from a passing look a run or a pass to you, and how do we really know? And is it equitable to label those plays passes for teams like Carolina and Seattle that do it alot?
I can’t get that much info and have it be totally accurate, at least not without watching film all day, every day. At most I could take QB rushes out of it, but again, that would make the numbers for teams with running QBs (like we’re about to become) inaccurate.

2018 NFL Mock Draft: Mel Kiper gives the Redskins Vita Vea https://www.hogshaven.com/2018/3/28/17171982/2018-nfl-mock-draft-mel-kiper-gives-the-redskins-vita-vea?utm_campaign=hogshaven&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter …
I wouldn’t be mad at it. although I rather move back and get a few more picks if the opportunity is there
Yeah like my Mock Below…I’d love that if we could do it. We need that 3rd rounder recouped.
How was the team running the ball prior to RKELLEY getting hurt
He averaged 4.0 yds/carry or more twice in his last 10 games dating back to December 19, 2016.
2017 only
He only averaged 3.1 YPA last year so my guess is poorly
He had one game in which he averaged 6.0 yds/carry; all the rest were below 4.0.
We don’t run block well , especially with all the OL injuries and rotations. Point being , I don’t know what’s a fair measuring stick on any of the RB’s . As far as I’m concerned there isn’t a nickel’s worth of difference between any of them excluding CT . That includes Matt Jones and Alfred Morris .
Here are some truisms:
– Our overall team running back talent is among the worst in the NFL
– Our OL was massively and chronically hurt last year
– Our OL doesn’t seem to be as effective run blocking as it is pass blocking
I’m not an expert and I don’t watch the coaches film but Cooley has consistently said that our RBs lack vision and don’t get the yards that are there. He criticizes the run blocking as well but says we could do better than we have with a better back
It’s pretty clear to me that our RBs lack vision. I think Kelley is the best of the bunch, but he’s average at best. The team needs a top talent.
Mega Millions now at $502 million
around $168M net lump sum after taxes
I know this is against the advice of a financial advisor that will charge you only a few % of your wealth to manage that 168 million, but I take the 20 year payout. that way, when I make the horrific, egregious greedy wild stupid errors year 1-3, I can still save myself with the brakes of the annual dole.
wrong, and I’ll only charge you 0.0001% to manage it.
Do you have a good PR guy in mind?
I’ll pay you 0.000001% for PR
Back it up one zero and we have a deal!
how about 0.000005%
I feel like I’m negotiating with a free agent
See now, back it up the OTHER way.
Lol, maybe you’ll get a chance someday to be on a team like that. Not sure if it’s blessing though, depends on the winner.
I could finally buy that AFL team I have wanted.
maybe usher in a golden age after a merger with the IFL?
glorious!
Did someone say golden?

I think you could probably buy the AFL team you’ve always wanted right now with just a small business loan.
and 0.0000001% chance of winning
So you’re saying there’s a chance?
Absolutely. But only 1 chance

Skins sign Hankins during the draft
Like getting an extra pick
Dream on – Aerosmith
Dreams – Fleetwood Mac
Sweet Dream – Eurythmics
Cream Weaver – Gary Wright
At this point, I’m convinced that Johnathan Hankins will be inducted into the HOF after he retires.
He’s a great run stopper
I don’t get how people don’t want to fix that part of the defense and open up the draft to more options
There’s a difference between agreeing that he’d be a nice addition to the defensive front 7 as long as he’s on a team friendly deal, and believing that this guy is the only thing standing in the way of epic disaster, as some appear to believe (not necessarily you).
They have the money
They have a little bit of money, yes, but not a ton, and they need to think about the future. Hankins isn’t good enough, and the need isn’t great enough, to justify blowing the salary cap, to me.
Agree to disagree
I agree with you BTG. I’m also not suggesting epic failure if we don’t, just more mediocrity. Hankins is young and damn good and would make our dline a strength
I agree with Steve. We have a Pro Bowler RG we need to extend. We have other young guys that need extended this summer before they become FA’s. Don’t piss away cap. We can get the same value in the draft as Hankins. I’d like to sign him, but the price needs to be reasonable.
Draft picks are uncertain, Hankins is not!
But we’d have a younger player for 5 years if we take one in the first round. You might only have Hank for 1 or 2 years.
I’ve said it a few times, I’d actually prefer we did both!
So you would be cutting Hood and McClain?

Road Rage seems to be the crime of this week in FL
Investigators said Tia Pisani was driving on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard near Belcher Road about 11 a.m. Monday when she and another driver started arguing. The argument made its way into a parking lot, where police said the situation turned violent.
Authorities said Pisani attacked a 72-year-old woman and her 50-year-old daughter and pointed an airsoft gun at the daughter. The gun wasn’t loaded, police said. Both women suffered minor injuries.
Pisani faces charges included aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

My dad has his own radio show to do. And he hates football, so he’ed not care.
I’m just talking about that one specific topic, but yeah, he’s probably a little fat in the wallet to waste that time.
No, he’s always kinda broke, a career in political activism does not result in cash windfalls. There was a period in the 90’s where he was making decent money. And he still has some legal text books he writes every year that bring in an extra chunk of cash to live off of. But I’ll say it’s been mostly used cars in his parking spot.

So new/old catch rule….and a new tackling form rule…..gonna be a crazy year. Defenders are gonna have to learn real fast how to adapt. I see a big jump in offensive stats this season.
So, draft a Guard, Running Back, and super fast WR?
…but maybe not in that order!

Lol
the tackling rule is not going to be that new for a lot of players since the college game has had it for awhile, but the offense is probably going to have to adapt more, esp the running game to the head-down rule if it is more emphasized
I see a lot of 15 yard penalties putting teams in more positions to score points, I see defenders scared to engage therefore more missed tackles and such.
Peachy and/or keen………..ummm?
So, it’s unanimous. Stop testing NFL players for weed.
Hope not
You may wish to re-thing that.
-TWill
That won’t work on Greg.
the middle ground might be sort of an intoxication rule, where you can’t obviously come to “work” impaired, and if you get boned by the law, you can still face suspension, whether it weed, alcohol, or PCP.
There’s too much competition for jobs in the NFL. If a player shows up drunk for a game, there’s a pretty good chance he’s going to get severely reprimanded, fined and will ride the bench. Players just don’t do it, to my knowledge.
For the same reason, if someone shows up stoned for practice or a game, I would expect similar treatment.
After a game is a different story. When these guys are wracked with pain following a game, a little weed is far safer than prescription pain killers.

A lot of people like what the Rams are doing. Not sitting back congratulating each other on 11-5 season…they are going out…taking advantage of the rookie wages their QB is making and signing guys who are good…making their run now as opposed to later. I mean…a Superbowl win is a Superbowl win. Kinda like Seattle did. They got a lot of playoff appearances…2 Superbowls posts and one SB win.

Josh RosenSquinns Bad Reputation • a few seconds ago
That is one of the best strategies now for winning a SB. Get a rookie QB on the cheap, allowing you to spend more on the rest of the team. Once the QB gets his first big contract, hard to be able to put nearly as many playmakers in the positions.
Eagles tried to do it last year and got lucky because although they lost that QB on his rookie deal, Foles, the backup, played lights out down the stretch.
High paid QB’s can make it very difficult to build a supporting cast (unless you’re NE with Brady and Bellicheck).
yup. makes a lot of sense. Paying QBs 25-30 million isn’t gonna work.
unless your FO really has their **** together and a vision they have for like a 3-5 year cycle
Yes, but most teams do not.
