Roster Moves: Redskins Re-sign Phil Taylor

The Redskins announced today that they have re-signed defensive lineman Phil Taylor Sr.  Terms were not disclosed, although the Washington Post reported that the contract is a one year deal.  Taylor himself also confirmed his signing on social media:

Taylor, 6’3”, 343 lbs, was originally drafted in the 1st round of the 2011 NFL draft out of Baylor by the Cleveland Browns.  He has played 44 games in his career, starting 42, all for the Browns, with 109 tackles, including 69 solo and 49 assisted tackles, and 7 sacks.  Taylor also spent time with the Broncos in 2016.

Taylor came to the Redskins for the 2017 season, but suffered a torn quad muscle that forced the team to place him on injured reserve for the season.  He re-joins a defensive line group that struggled last season but will see the return of last year’s first round draft choice, Jonathan Allen, from injury.  In addition, the Redskins have recently been linked to a number of other free agent lineman.
