Redskins to host joint training camp with the Jets

The Redskins announced today that the team will host three days of joint practices during training camp with the New York Jets at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center in Richmond, Virginia, during this year’s training camp from Sunday, August 12, through Tuesday, August 14.
Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden praised the move, stating, “I’m extremely excited to welcome the Jets to Richmond for three days of practice.” He also mentioned the benefits derived from these sessions, saying, “[i]n the past, joint practices have given our coaching staff a great opportunity to evaluate our players in competitive situations against other teams, and we look forward to having that opportunity again this year by hosting the Jets.”
Jets head coach Todd Bowles, who was a Redskins defensive back from 1986 to 1993, also spoke about his team’s upcoming visit, stating “[w]e’d like to thank the Redskins for having us. Hopefully, we can help each other prepare for the upcoming regular season.”
These practices are the third time the team has hosted another team for joint practices in the last five years. The New England Patriots visited in 2014, and the Houston Texans visited in 2015. The Texans practices were covered by the HBO Series “Hard Knocks”, which infamously broadcast a fight between Redskins and Texans players during one of those sessions.

Former Indiana wide receiver Simmie Cobbs and former San Diego State wide receiver Mikah Holder were part of a group of four undrafted rookies who signed with Washington on Monday and the team added three more wideouts to the roster on Tuesday.
The most productive of the new additions is Shay Fields, who caught 194 passes for 2,590 yards and 21 touchdowns over four years at the University of Colorado. He’s second in school history in career receiving yards.
The Redskins also signed former Nebraska wide receiver De’Mornay Pierson-El and former Alabama wideout Cam Sims. Washington also drafted Trey Quinn with the final pick in the draft, so there are going to be a lot of new faces vying for work at receiver this season.

Pierson-El could make the team for STs and if you want to run the kind of mis-direction LSU did with Guice, he could take a jet sweep a couple of times a game from the wing or slot. He could also then backup Crowder/Quinn, but that assumes Quinn is as good as the most optimistic progs would suggest.

I had a little bad ass Chinese laptop back in about ’03 that ran Linux. Fast as fuck on 512 mb RAM. Wifi for the hotels.
I’m running Linux on a desktop booting from SSD. Only takes about 10 seconds to boot. I still keep Windows around in a dual-boot configuration. Mostly just run Windows in a virtual machine that I fire up, as needed.
You have to know your way around Linux, but it always seemed much more efficient.
Not really. Desktop environment has come along way since ’03. Anywho… it only took 25 secs after the system upgrade to reboot back to the login prompt. Sweet!
You’re obviously at a much higher level than I am, but for temp memory to be so small, the internet speed was impressive, as compared to something running windows with the same. Some of our electrical engineers have it at work on their laptops.
Our server runs windows but we have automation control programs in Linux.

Unfortunately what Trump has gotten done has been almost uniformly awful, and the vast majority of it has been done through executive action, which is something he and conservatives railed against when Obama was president. This despite the fact that Republicans control both houses of Congress and the WH.
President Trump has finally gotten the country back on the right track, and I’m thankful every day she’s president instead of Hillary Clinton. Congress is definitely holding him back.

Objectively it’s obvious Obama did a good job with the economy, taking over at the height of the worst recession since the great depression and shepherding the country through 7 straight years of lowering unemployment, economic growth, and rising markets. As Squinns and NPI know, after you graduate from law school, there’s a class you have to take, or at least that’s a good idea to take, to prepare for the bar exam (which as an aside I’m convinced a diligent high school student could pass if he/she tried hard enough). The shorter part 2 of this class that I took was in a hotel conference center. This bar prep class makes watching paint dry seem exciting.
Well, in addition to the bar prep class, this hotel also had the Miss Texas pageant going on at that time, so the pageant girls were constantly running around the lobby in front of our conference center room in tiny bikinis and slinky dresses for several days. This made most of the women in the bar class very upset, to the point that we had a full-on melt down, shouting session by two of the females in the class during a break, complaining that we, the male bar prep class takers, who they didn’t know at all for the most part, were paying more attention to the bikinis clad pageant girls than the women in the bar prep class. As if they were (a) looking for a date in the bar prep class, or (b) were fussing at their boyfriend/husband for checking out someone else in front of them. They both obviously got promptly and loudly mocked.
But did they go up to anyone’s room and show them a thing or two for checking out pageant chicks in bikinis?
I think most people lived in the city, so nobody had rooms at the hotel.
The pageant chicks were very unapproachable – they were busy, for one thing, not hanging out, and constantly surrounded by parents and handlers.

Speaking of the LA bar, in New Orleans you take the exam in the Super Dome. There are a bunch of administrative rooms surrounding the arena where they give the test. On the day I took it the arena itself was being used for a revival by “The Promise Keepers,” which is an all-male evangelical organization. I’m trying to concentrate on the exam while this fire-and-brimstone religious hooha is blaring through the paper-thin walls of the room. It was quite surreal.

My belief is that there’s not much variance in GM’s ability to evaluate players. Statistically there’s no evidence that some guys have been consistently better or worse at it than others. They basically all have good credentials and they’re all looking at the same information. It mostly comes down to luck of the draw.
