  • The NBA has been revolutionized as there weren’t many big men running the floor and shooting 3’s back in the 80’s

  • 2001 Lakers who only lost one game the whole playoffs…

No one on the 76ers could guard Shaq…and he only averaged 33pts per game…that Lakers team averaged 102pts per game. They’re getting cooked by the Warriors…by like 25pts per game!

    • Different_Cat

I think that Lakers team also had a guy named Kobe who was pretty good.

      • Probably the 2nd best shooting guard in history. Vicc shouldn’t just look past that.

    • Back to the good ol daysBruce

Shaq would have a tough time in today’s run and gun game. The big man is extinct..or put on ice depending how he evolves…

    • Different_Cat

Would’ve been interesting to see Durant go up against Horace Grant and Robert Horry. Those were some long guys who could defend.

    • That’s called insanity, Vicc. You are drastically overvaluing the Warriors. Sorry.

Shaq easily puts up 60 against the Warriors.

  • Back to the good ol daysBruce

The 3 pt shooting 4 or 5 is the obvious change. What is Durant? 6’11” and is darn near impossible to defend behind the arc? Its uncanny. They just didn’t have that in yesterday’s game.

    • Different_Cat

There have been tall guys who were good shooters before, but Durant is the total package. Put a big guy on him outside the arc and he’s just going to go right around him and flush it. Put a smaller guy on him and he’ll drain the three.

    • Durant is the guy who’d be scarier for some of the old school great teams more than Curry.

    • Exactly!!! It’s not about who on the Warriors is guarding the big men of the past. It’s about how those big men will guard the elite shooters on the perimeter and how those teams can keep up making their 2pt baskets., while the Warriors are draining 3’s left and right!

    • Well, the Warriors would have no answer at all to those monsters in the paint, either.

  • Take a look at this…and be prepared to laugh!!!

    https://twitter.com/i/moments/980936385765912576?lang=en

    • A shoulder shrug from the GOAT. What laughable about that?

    • look at how much better than everyone else Jordan is?

    • Just remember the point isn’t exactly to diminish Jordan. You can’t! But there seems to be a lil nostalgia about how much better the defenses really were compared to today. Those defenses never had to deal with 6’10” players who could move like PGs and could shoot the lights out! Who was that player back in the day?

      • Different_Cat

        Magic Johnson? Larry Bird?

        • Bird, definitely. Magic’s thing wasn’t really outside shooting, to Vicc’s point, but certainly the Warriors wouldn’t have an answer for either player.

          • Different_Cat

Yeah, true about Magic, but I don’t think there’s anyone his size who can handle the ball the way he can these days. Well, LeBron….

          • Back to the good ol daysBruce

Most of these big guys have ball handing skills never seen before. The big Greek in Milwaukee, Durant is so-so, Lebron. Its crazy the skill these guys have…

          • Lebron is the most similar to Magic, but he doesn’t have Magic’s court vision or passing ability. Lebron’s advantage is more the gifts of his athleticism moreso than Magic’s advantages.

          • Different_Cat

Probably so, but I think LeBron’s passing and vision are way underrated. It doesn’t show up as much because he’s always the focus of the offense.

        • Dumar? Thomas?

      • I think you’re seriously overvaluing the Warriors in comparison to some of the all-time great teams.

        • I mean the do have (2) MVPs on their team…
They have a defensive player of year, who can guard all (5) positions on the court
They have the 2nd best shooting guard in the league
          And their bench is deep!
Yea, I think they hold up!

          • Nobody’s saying they aren’t great, but you’ve more or less called them the greatest team in NBA history, and I think that’s going too far.

          • For example, who on the Warriors would defend great centers like Shaq and Hakeem? Wilt back in his prime?
Heck, even a guy like Kevin McHale, with his length and strength? Certainly not Draymond or anyone on the Warriors.

          • Different_Cat

            Wes Unseld, Moses Malone….

          • Bill Laimbeer.

          • Him too.

          • Yes, them too.

          • The Warriors would outscore them….it’s not a matter of who’s guarding Shaq or Hakeem. 3pts is more than 2pts. The onus is on them to keep up with the Warriors. Not the other way around.

          • And Kareem, too. The Warriors aren’t outscoring the Showtime Lakers and wouldn’t have any defensive answer for that combo of players. It’d be a game I’d want to watch, for sure.

          • Different_Cat

3 is more than 2, but even GS when hot is only shooting around 50% from three. Shaq shot around 60% from the field on a daily basis, not to mention all the free throws (of which he only made about half!).

          • Yet he still averaged 35-40pts a game. You need 2 or 3 30pt scorers to keep up with this Warriors abomination…

          • Shaq and Wade. Shaq and Kobe. Shaq and Penny Hardaway.

          • A team with Shaq at center playing the Warriors – be it Orlando, the Lakers, or even the Heat in Shaq’s later years, would play inside out and let Shaq go on a reign of terror. I don’t know hold old Vicc is, so I’m not saying him, but people forget just how unstoppable and dominant he was. There really wasn’t any center in the league who could slow him down.

          • As dominant as he was…Durant’s point total would keep up and offset Shaq’s but who’s getting the other 50-60pts on that lakers team to keep up with Steph and Klay?

          • I just went over that. Shaq and Wade. Shaq and Kobe. Shaq and Penny Hardaway.

          • Ok…so where’s the other 20+pts coming from to match Klay?

          • Truthfully, Shaq would have a field day against those guys. So you’re looking at Shaq having an all-time great series against the Warriors, and Durant isn’t getting to the rim against him. Shaq’s point total would definitely be more than Durant.

Other guys routinely came through on both those Lakers and Heat teams.

  • @ Steve Thomas

The old school defense was more physical argument has been a lil embellished imo. I’ve posted a few clips of some of the “vaunted” defenses Jordan had to face and more and more people with nothing better to do have been posting evidence of lackadaisical defense from back in the day on twitter! Plus most of those physical defenses you refer to would struggle mightily against this Warriors team. You need 5 perimeter defenders against this squad. Name your team and I’d be happy to take a look, but I’ve researched this quite a bit already, and most of teams I feel you’ll mention don’t really have a PF or C who can guard Draymond or Durant on the perimeter.

    • I’d also put up the best of the Showtime Era Lakers teams up against GS. They could easily put up 130 pts a game without even having to resort to many threes. That team could run GS into the ground with the fast break.

      • Back to the good ol daysBruce

now that’s crazy talk and I was a huge Worthy fan.

        • I think it’s a very legit comparison, actually. Those Lakers teams played at an incredibly fast pace.

Draymond Green isn’t stopping Magic Johnson, and the Warriors don’t have anyone to match up against Kareem. They’d put Michael Cooper on Curry defensively – Cooper is taller and has longer arms.

    • For arguments sake, let’s say a team had, Tim Duncan and David Robinson at the 4/5. Golden State hits about 34% 3 pointers (2% better at home 2% worse on the road… 2018 stats). That’s similar to hitting 50% from the field inside the 3. What do you think Robinson/Duncan’s % is in the paint against those guys? 55-60%?

  • Have I ever told you guys how unfair and how much I hate this Warriors abomination? It’s just like I said, put any team in NBA history up against this Warriors squad!!! Who can keep up?
    ________________

I think alot of old school teams playing under the defensive rules of the time would get very physical with them and probably beat these Warriors. And there were several championship caliber teams back in the day that could put up tons of point, too.

    • well, at some point, there’s no 3 point line

3 point line is there because otherwise, the team with the best big men always wins

    • Back to the good ol daysBruce

sort of hard to get physical with a guy shooting 25 ft away. Maybe if he’s running the baseline and all the back door screens that can get physical but this team is special and legit.

      • Not really.

        -Loyola Marymount

      • I think the best defensive teams with championship pedigree would just defend them tough at the 3 point line and take their chances on the back door screens.

This GS team is great, clearly, but they are the beneficiaries of recency bias. There have been alot of great teams. GS isn’t invincible.

  • what are the chances Quin Blanding makes the team ?

  • Over on ProBasketballTalk there’s a story about what the Rockets need to do to even the series with the Warriors. The answer is unfortunately unobtainable. You have to be able to shoot better than them. And no team can! They have 3 of the best 5 shooters in the league, including Curry who is the best shooter ever!

One commenter noted: “If the Rockets hit EVERY shot at the rim, 27-27, and your requisite 15 three pointers, they still lose this game by 1 point.”

Have I ever told you guys how unfair and how much I hate this Warriors abomination? It’s just like I said, put any team in NBA history up against this Warriors squad!!! Who can keep up?

    • walter_in_fallschurch

maybe it depends on the rules of the day. no way in hell durant or curry or whoever snakes his way into the paint for a layup in the old days. they’d have been, uh… manhandled.

      • I believe they could Walter. A big reason they can get by an opposing defender is because you really have to play aggressive at the perimeter. You can’t just let them keep shooting 3’s.

Again to put this team into perspective. They were a Championship quality squad that added the second best player on the planet.

        • walter_in_fallschurch

it’s chicken or egg. (correct answer in that case is “egg”, but that’s another topic). they’re so deadly because you have to lay off a bit to protect against the drive to the basket. that said, they are incredible perimeter shooters. not all that fun to watch, except to appreciate the skill it takes to shoot those that well.

          • Kerr has done an incredible job too. The Warriors move the ball and really don’t settle for “bad” shots. Durant and Curry settle for “bad” shots, but any shot they take is not really a “bad” shot.

          • walter_in_fallschurch

did you see where kerr said there is no way he could have played in today’s nba? said all the guys are bigger, faster and better shooters, or something along those lines.

          • That’s funny! Elite shooters will always have a place in the league. Kerr was an elite shooter, but yes an absolute defensive liability in his day and would be today too. In the last Bulls Championship, Jordan was being guarded by Stockton and Hornacek! At those points in their careers, they couldn’t possibly stay in front of him! They would’ve been cooked by this Warriors team! #COOKED…that Jazz squad would’ve been swept by an average of 20pts a game! In that series they averaged about 81pts per game. The Cavs averaged 114pts per game and were no match for the Warriors

    • I’m not really willing to call Curry the best shooter ever just yet.

      • he’s no Eric Piatkowski

        • walter_in_fallschurch

he’s thinking of jerry west, i imagine. or kobe.

          • Well, he’d probably be one. 475 career shooting percentage and 25,000 pts before the 3 pt shot. But there are guards who have a career shooting percentage of over 50%

      • For one thing, Steve Kerr has a higher career three point percentage over many more years. Guys like Steve Nash and Tim Legler are right there with Curry, but over many more seasons. Plus, there are some old school guys who were great shooters didn’t have the benefit of the 3 point shot.

Curry is a great shooter, but its way too early to anoint him the best ever.

        • what would be next level is if he was big enough to get his own shot

but you know, I haven’t watched the NBA since I dropped cable, and really haven’t paid attention since the League nixed the Paul to Lakers trade.

there was a kansas city game on “rewind” or what ever they call it. alex smith has a looong delivery motion. seems to be working for him, maybe because he knows so well where he wants to throw it. he winds way it down and back up before throwing it.

    • Remember Byron Leftwich’s trowing motion? Now that was awful. One thing for Alex, he’s been able to continue for years with that motion.

      • walter_in_fallschurch

oh, yeah. leftwich’s is even longer/awfuler… he could zip it, though. ironically, leftwich is now an nfl qb coach.

        • As they say…those that can, do! those that can’t, teach!

          • walter_in_fallschurch

i hope he’s not teaching them his throwing motion.

actually, i do: he’s not the redskins qb coach. teach away.

          • The same reason nascar drivers don’t use a Rolls Royce body…#rollingresistence

          • if you want an electric car for city and commuting use, the Nissan Leaf is the way to go. from what one reads, it’s a pretty good car, has a 150 mi range (soon a longer one) and is the cheapest of the major competitors out there. And for most families, that’s also plenty for the second car. The only time I would be anywhere near that range is if I drove to a place for business, and that’d be easy enough to rent a car the twice a year I do that. For everything else, families already have one SUV or minivan. It even has a Bose stereo and a lot of the toys.

If you want a fast drag racer, Tesla makes a few models that are pretty good for that. Just don’t take it to a runway and race a 911 turbo.

          • $78K

          • Now, you’re getting into Nissan GTR territory, and speed aside, it’s a better car

  • Regarding Lanier. If someone were to tell me he’s a sleeper pick ready to break out next season, I wouldn’t think that’s so crazy.

  • i’ve always liked Foster and i’m glad he should be healthy, but i’ve also always wanted one of these mid-round ILB’s from the last few drafts to really prove to be an upgrade. maybe Hamilton can be that guy.

    • True. Our LB core needs an upgrade in the athleticism category!

      • We have 1 super athletic guy now in Brown who’s great going side to side, what I want is 1 guy who just knows how to attack down hill.

  • Does anyone else enjoy the Scamp vs Walter dust ups as much as me?

  • i think DPayne is the plan at NT in base looks, but that won’t be a whole lot of the time. him and Allen at the tackes in 4 man fronts should be effective.

    • you can kick him to DE in 3 man fronts, too, depending on the situation.

    • If I were doing it I’d have different guys in different packages, but here’s my rough idea of what I see:

Base- DE -Allen, Ioannidis | NT- McGee
Run stuffing- DE Payne, Allen | NT- McGee
Pass Rush- DE- Lannier , Allen | NT- Settle

Eventually I’d hope to see someone take the NT job from McGee.

      • think we’re on same page. both account that guys will be rotating in and out, and in both 3 and 4 man fronts. Payne, Allen, IO, Lanier, Settle, that’s fairly solid looking on the line on paper.

        • They will probably keep 1 more, either McGee or Hood. Maybe 1 more guy on the PS.

        • i’m actually glad we’ve kept McGee so far. i don’t care if he doesn’t make it through this camp, but he’s at least shown a bit of production, more than McClain did anyhow.

  • Is this the starting defensive roster?
    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DdrdZ4qVQAQmCEP.jpg

    • As we discussed on the show. I don’t know if I would put Payne at NT, think he’s probably better as a DE.

      • Yeah, I don’t think Payne’s future is NT.

I said Hood starts the year at NT; Alex said McGee.

      • Different_Cat

I think Payne will be NT and split time with IO in 4-man fronts.

    • And I’d argue 4 or 5 of those guys don’t belong as starters. Man we’re thin on defense!!!

      • Who? The only unproven guy is Dunbar, and he’s at worst a nickle CB at this point.

        • Not counting the rookie, I’m not sold on Nicholson–who also can’t stay healthy–Foster, Dunbar, Ioannidis and Smith. I think the fact that those guys start on our defense offers some clue as to why our defense sucks in general! But i’m hoping that we’ve fortified our defensive line to the point where it hides our weaknesses.

    • They all suck- dc

      • There should be a point where you let your pride push you to do something more.

        • Would you take his money?

          • I’d never get myself in the position to be that desperate. So no. In my worst moments, where I was unemployed, I was willing to ask friends and family to help me out if needed, get a place to crash, find work. Get back on the feet.

          • Never say never. (I didn’t put myself in that situation).
If you found yourself sitting on a curb with your girl and two dogs, and blue guitar, would you take his money?

          • Not like that no. But I’d maybe do the street musician thing, and if a kid threw money in the cup for that, I’m not gonna be upset.
            Or I’d sell the dogs.

          • Right, you’re providing music. You could eat the dogs.

      • Expand on that a bit and list who brings them up every single day.

      • One side does it with extreme shrillness . Fairly sure you are about as liberal as a person can be , yet you actually can discuss politics without being a dooshbag

        • Yes, I’d also say that Scamp gets as shrill from the right these days as anyone.

          • He probably does and he is normally responding to idiocy . I’ve seen him give republicans hell many many times .

          • Scamp never raises these issues. He just responds.

          • Sometimes I scroll through the late night stuff, he has his sessions up here all by his lonesome

          • From my perspective, neither “side” on here has any kind of moral high ground
when it comes to the political discourse and name calling. If anyone
thinks their side does, your being naive. The truth is simple. Fact is
everyone here is really way dumber than they think they are, and
everyone who engages in the worse of it should feel a lot more shame
than they probably do. Myself included.

          • Politics is all based in opinions. Policy should be based in facts. The problem is too much of the former confusing the later.

          • Politics = power, in this Neo-Rome y’all seek.

          • I don’t think most are really seeking a “Neo-Rome” though I like that term. But there’s maybe a bit of that in the neo-liberal/neo-con ideology, however I don’t think many up here actually subscribe to those values.

          • I think you are far more educated in the actual ideology than some that wave that flag. My issue with it is this, until you alter our natural programming, the way we’re wired, it’s all for naught.
Would that type of society be great? Sure, we could be the UFofP, all for one, one for all. The Bible even speaks to this. Fact is though, our equation doesn’t allow for it.

Of course being on the conservative side you see it as the OTHER guys who are always bringing it up, and being shrill, but it is actually a two way street.

      • I don’t engage
        I ask it be stopped

        • Just was picking names out of the old hat there mate. Didn’t feel like doing a whole laundry list, and there’s the old rule of 3.

    • Hey, are you they guy they call “Button Buck”? The guy that works at the 7-Eleven in Quantico?

  • Mookie Betts will have a better year than Harper

    • I dunno, depends on when Harper gets the 400 million.

      • Harper ain’t worth that

        • The Yankees, Cubs, or Red Sox will give it to him, though, I bet.

          • Don’t totally count out your Dodgers. I could see him wanting to go there to be closer to Vegas.

          • They can definitely afford it, but this Dodgers ownership group has shown no inclination towards giving big contracts to free agents, though, so I tend to doubt they’d bring Harper in.

          • Maybe the Angles then? Just think that if it presents its self, Harper would probably jump at a chance to go to the south west/so-cal

          • Maybe. I don’t know what their payroll situation is like right now.

The press reports will definitely claim that the Dodgers are in on Harper; I just doubt that they’ll actually pull the trigger.

          • Only edge I understand the Nats have is that they, as the team who drafted him, don’t take as much of a payroll hit if they match an offer. But I don’t know the exact details, I’m not as familiar with baseball salary rules.

          • Sox have Betts Sale and Boegarts to extend

They won’t be in on Harper

    • That would have 0 impact

  • noonefromtampa

every special prosecutor that we have ever appointed has never stayed within the scope of what the investigation was supposed to be about

it’s always turns into a very expensive witch hunt

So the story I posted last night about the NC Dad who drove his car into the restaurant and killed two members of his own family

evidently has mental issues to the extent that all his guns were removed from the home
    he was under medical care
family was basically going out for a “nice lunch” had no idea his was going to tank on them

    • 🙁

    • That’s very tragic. Seems our gun laws properly prevented the use of guns in this case.

      • If we want to talk about things our society could be better at in terms of preventing mass shootings, a sensible process for getting the guns out of the hands of those with mental health problems would be a good start. I don’t know how it is in every state and I’m assuming that’s a state level rule.

after there was nothing wrong found – it was a tragic consequence of living in a dangerous place in the world, the investigations went on and on and on. trey gowdy ended up looking like a fool.
    `
Don’t get me wrong Walter, if they find a serious crime then Trump will be charged. No one becomes a politician in that position without having sins committed. And that’s not what I’m talking about regarding the precedent of the Mueller investigation.

If I could just tell you a story about a time I paid $500 dollars for a shot of Jim Beam. I was once going to help a buddy work on his house in VA; I lived in MD at the time. I bought a small bottle of Jim Beam on the way and decided to take a swig for the long drive. Lo and behold an undercover cop saw me take that drink and pulled me over. I gave him my license and registration…and the bottle! He poured everything out and I took a field sobriety test. After both my license and registration checked out and I passed the test, the officer asked me if I had anything else in the vehicle and even asked to search my vehicle. I refused…told him I gave him the alcohol and everything else checked out, so he’d need a warrant for that! So they held me for a few minutes threatening to call the dogs in to check for other paraphernalia…ya know… since alcohol is a “gateway drug.” The dogs never made it and they wrote me for a $500 fine for having an open alcoholic beverage while operating a vehicle. #mostexpensivedrinkieverhad

Now had that been Robert Mueller who pulled me over, he might’ve raided my house the next morning and would’ve found a large amount of a certain illegal recreational drug and I would’ve been in jail!!! But because we citizens have rights, the police were simply not allowed to go digging through my house or the homes of my friends and families. So what started out as an investigation into whether or not Trump worked with Russians to win the Presidential election, and has now turned into an investigation into every aspect of his life…yes I believe that will come back to hurt many who are allowing it to continue! God forbid they ever get accused of fake crime and get more than they bargained for!

    • If Trump or any president is found to have committed a serious crime, he’d be impeached, not charged, technically. But that’s a pretty good analogy.

The problem with the Mueller investigation isn’t that the federal government set up a special counsel chartered to determine whether and to what extent the Russian government interfered with the 2016 presidential election – that’s a good thing. The problem, as you state, is that it’s expanded to something far greater than originally chartered and is now an all-out, no limits assault on this president. And it’s an openly partisan effort based on openly partisan information. That’s what’s bad about it.

      • And they should. Frankly I want to see any and every dirty politician out on their ass as fast as possible. Even the ones I like. Things are bad enough as they are, we don’t need some jack-wagon who takes bribes in office.

        • I agree with you there Alex. I just wished it didn’t take Trump winning the election for our Govt. to start caring about catching all the bad guys!

          • Well they did it here and there. Usually it was more of a “sacrificial lamb” type thing. Like When Jackson went to jail for the Blaggo thing. Or the congressman who purchased a 2 million dollar boat with cash from bribes.

        • But the charter wasn’t to do an all-encompassing investigation into all things Donald Trump.

          • So, as an investigator, you’re prohibited from following where the evidence and the facts take you?

          • You’re prohibited from expanding the scope of your charter without authorization, yes. He doesn’t have a free and clear mandate to do anything he wants.

And Mueller’s entire investigation is nothing but a partisan “gotcha” based on garbage.

Ken Starr’s investigation of Bill Clinton had the same problem, as much as I loved to see Clinton squirm.

          • So, you’ve actually seen Mueller’s evidence, or did you just read a book about witch hunts?

          • You seem to hate books that don’t fall in line lock-step with your screwed up world view. That’s your problem. You’re no fun to have a rational conversation with.

          • Rational, meaning any opinion that has an uber right-leaning conclusion?

          • I don’t think anyone who’s honest with them selves knows what Muller has outside the stuff that’s public. Clearly there was enough for him to present a case of conspiracy and fraud against several Russian agencies.

          • Different_Cat

How is it partisan, exactly? Mueller is a Republican. Comey was a Republican. The people directing Mueller are Republicans WHO TRUMP APPOINTED. This partisan claim is pure brainwashing.

          • Just stop. That kills the narrative. You know, facts and such.

          • Why are you still here?

            Go. Find. Another. Blog.

Hey, Dude, you’re free to ban me for disagreeing with your political views. No one’s stopping you.

          • Different_Cat

People are only guessing about what Mueller is specifically investigating, given that his office doesn’t leak. Collusion with the Russians is clearly within the ambit of his investigation and it’s certainly possible that Trump’s earlier dealings with the Russians could be very relevant to that.

  • As a fan of sports radio I’ll be interested to see what changes they make to 980. Will they move some of the local programing off in favor of syndicated shows? Personally I think that’s a mistake. Local shows are always my preference. Radio’s a medium of intimacy.

On a positive note. If we were to someday get The Hog Sty on 980 I’d no longer feel dirty about it.

  • ROCKVILLE, Md. (May 21, 2018) – Urban One, Red Zebra
Broadcasting and the Washington Redskins announced today that Urban One
has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of the radio
station The Team 980 (WTEM 980 AM) from Red Zebra Broadcasting, pending
FCC approval. In addition, Urban One has also entered into an agreement
with the Washington Redskins to ensure that all Redskins games, as well
as pregame and postgame programming, will remain on The Team 980.

The acquisition is the first step in a collaborative effort between
the Redskins and Urban One to keep The Team 980 as the fans’ premier
source for radio coverage of the Washington Redskins.

“We believe the future of The Team 980 is in great hands with Urban
One,” said Terry Bateman, Chairman of Red Zebra Broadcasting. “We view
this as an opportunity for Urban One and the Redskins to build a close
partnership to continue to provide the Redskins’ fans with unparalleled
access and content, keeping The Team 980 as the fans’ destination for
    the best Redskins coverage.”

In addition to The Team 980, the Redskins game day broadcasts –
including pregame, in-game and postgame programming – will air on WMAL
105.9 FM and 630 AM as a valued part of the Redskins Radio Network.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for Urban One and we are especially
pleased that through our acquisition, The Team 980 will continue to be
locally owned. The acquisition of The Team 980 is very much in line with
our strategy of super-serving our community of listeners. We have deep
roots in the greater Washington, DC area and are well aware that The
Team 980 has always been a fan favorite,” said Alfred C. Liggins,
President and CEO of Urban One. “Red Zebra has a track record of
producing great programming that engages our hometown sports fans. We
look forward to working with the Washington Redskins organization to
    continue this tradition.”

Not sure how anyone can have a take on it before the results are in.

    • To be honest, the president for this was set long ago.

    • walter_in_fallschurch

well… to the extent that the fbi or congress or whoever is partisan, this time it is republicans investigating republicans. most recently is was republicans investigating , and investigating, and investigating clinton over benghazi!!! before that it was republicans investigating bill clinton. please, just keep it real, and let’s not pretend this is some sort of partisan “witch hunt”.

the real damage being done is by trump disparaging the fbi.

      • Also, the FBI has been spying on our political leaders since old J Edgar Hoover.

      • Different_Cat

Don’t forget the Iraq War investigation, Iran-Contra, Watergate, etc.

      • The FBI destroyed its own credibility without any help from anyone.

And it’s obviously and clearly a 100% partisan witchhunt.

      • If I recall Walter…the Benghazi and Email investigations of Hillary were just that! Nothing extracurricular and no early morning house raids of lawyers or things of that sort!

The teams have just been exchanging blowouts.

    • That’s why we go to movies, or flip on the DVR, Netflix, Prime. Or hell, porn if that’s the mood.

NBA playoffs and finals…better off watch grass grow. At least something is actually happening there.

    • At this point, my only rooting interest is to see both Lebron and the Celtics lose, so I’m all for whatever is best to make those two things happen.

    • The NBA? I’ll maybe watch the last 5 minutes of a close game – that’s like an hour of TV right there with all the timeouts and strategy-fouls. Otherwise, what’s the point? Lot’s of guys whining whining whining whining about calls, non-calls, and makeup-calls. I also have a hard time watching a supposedly professional competition where there is such an obvious double-standard between stars and non-stars. If you are a “star”, there is one kind of game you get to play; if you aren’t then you are part of the set. Is there any other sport where the “star” players openly talk about calls they are “supposed” to get simply because they are stars? Yet NBA players do it ALL THE TIME, as do their coaches. Really pathetic.

  • Re: Baseball
As if there weren’t already enough reasons to not care about baseball…how is it possible that a team can have the league MVP and miss the playoffs? Is there any other team sport whose MVP player doesn’t impact the win column? Where’s the value?

    • walter_in_fallschurch

actually…. i kind of feel the opposite way. often times, it seems, the best player in a given sport is not lucky enough to be on the best team. and he may have elevated them from a .400 team to a .600 team and still not made the playoffs. and players on the best teams get over-valued.

      • I feel like the only examples you could find of that would be in baseball. Is there a specific season in another team sport that you think a player on a bad team should’ve won MVP Walter?…Peyton Manning maybe, when the Colts finished dead last?

Edit: Because there is usually a handful of worthy MVP candidates in any given season of any sport. Yes team success does and should factor into that right?

        • The reason it can happen in baseball vs. football is the nature of the two sports, imo.

If a team sucks, rarely can any one individual truly shine in football, b/c everyone is so dependent on everyone else for success.

Barry Sanders was a notable exception. I guess RBs in general can be.

        • walter_in_fallschurch

there are many times when there are 5-10 cowboys or 49ers in the pro bowl, undeservedly. i really can’t think of any specific mvp winners.

  • The Nats are imploding with injuries and Harper is struggling at the plate among others . The weirdo fans that loved to troll the TI for reasons i never understood , are now themselves crying and whining about injuries . Strange bunch . Never did understand why you couldn’t be a fan of both teams.

    • My Dodgers have been terrible this year – hitters not hitting, pitchers pitching poorly, half the team on the DL, including all of their best players, yet somehow still managed to sweep the Nationals, coming on the heels of getting swept by the Marlins. So for me, things are looking up, baseball-wise.

      • I saw yesterday’s game . Harper is sucking ass right now and he’s not by himself . The do have a ton of injuries . Searching for outfielders

    • I might have to pay them a drive by and stir up more crying . Blame the injuries on the owner , etc, etc.

    • Harper is so frigging streaky. The guy ain’t worth what he’s going to be paid

      • walter_in_fallschurch

harper is so good that people do not really pitch to him. after a while he gets frustrated with that and loses discipline and chases bad pitches.

        • Maybe, but you shouldn’t hit .220-.250 every other year and be the highest paid player in baseball

    • walter_in_fallschurch

i am not worried about harper – except to say that i am worried he’ll be a yankee next season.

      • I think we’ve known he was gonna leave for the Yankees a long time ago….at least I did.

        • walter_in_fallschurch

well… he was leaving for either the yankees or the cowboys…

          • Ha! Let me guess…his favorite basketball team is the Lakers?

          • walter_in_fallschurch

actually, he’s too young to care about the lakers. i believe it was the lebron miami heat. probably now cavs or warriors.

          • That’s so true and not unique to Alabama. You’re the new meat and the girls are attracted…happens in every city…(so I’m told) lol

          • But it’s not always as violent 🙂

          • depends on the hotness of the women? The low IQ of the local guys? all of the above?

          • Mainly on economic state of the town. Lower class peeps are always ready to fight. In better areas, it’s more a verbal thing.
