BREAKING NEWS: Redskins President Bruce Allen Fired
The Bruce Allen era officially ended this morning, December 30th, 2019, according to multiple reports. NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport announced Monday morning that there was no reassignment for Allen and that he would be out of the Redskins organization entirely. Adam Schefter of ESPN and JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington all confirmed the news that Allen has been relieved of his duties. The team accumulated nearly 100 losses during Allen’s ten-year tenure with the Washington Redskins. Additionally, Allen had two head coaches during that period, and though they each made playoff appearances at one point, they were eventually fired after unsuccessful stints in Washington.
Redskin’s owner Daniel Snyder issued a statement on the matter:
“As this season concludes, Bruce Allen has been relieved of his duties as president of the Washington Redskins and is no longer with the organization. Like our passionate fan base, I recognize we have not lived up to the high standards set by great Redskins teams, coaches and players who have come before us. As we reevaluate our team leadership, culture and process for winning football games, I am excited for the opportunities that lie ahead to renew our singular focus and purpose of bringing championship football back to Washington D.C.”
Though there are multiple reports that Ron Rivera is the favorite to land the head coaching job in Washington, there is no substantial news on who will replace Allen during this time. The Hog Sty will update when more information made available.
