ESPN’s Field Yates reported that Redskins receiver Cody Latimer was arrested Saturday morning in Douglas County, Colorado, on charges including second degree assault:

Facts of the case are scarce at this point and there is a wide range of possible sentencing options for these crimes under Colorado law, if Latimer is convicted.

The NFL will look into the case to determine if Latimer has violated the league’s personal conduct policy.  A person subject to the policy, such as Latimer, does not have to be convicted in order to be subject to league discipline.  The legal standards for a criminal conviction are much higher than the league’s standards under the personal conduct policy.

Latimer, a 2013 second round pick out of the University of Indiana by the Denver Broncos, joined the Redskins earlier this offseason on a 1 year contract.  He has a cap hit of $887,500 and $137,500 in dead money, so he can be cut at a savings of $750,000.

We will update this post with more details as they become available.
