Kelvin Harmon out with torn ACL

July 14, 2020

It has been confirmed across Twitter that 2nd year wide out Kelvin Harmon suffered a serious injury while training on his own. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Ian Rapoport and confirmed by other local writers. This injury will mean Harmon is likely out for the 2020 season as ACL injuries typically take a year or more to recover.

Harmon was a 6th round draft pick last season. He came along slowly in his rookie year at first, which is not unusual for a 3rd day pick. In the back end of the 2019 season he started to get more playing time and showed that he could be a productive receiver. In the 2nd half of that season he ended up with 23 catches for 296 yards on 37 targets after just having 7 receptions in the 1st half of the season.

Harmon himself hasn’t announced anything but did post this:

Many of us at The Hog Sty projected that he would have a more valuable role in the offense this season as a solid possession receiver, and he was projecting to become a big target for Dwayne Haskins. This creates a need at wide receiver now for the team, whose lone veteran free agent this offseason is facing legal trouble.

This post will be updated/edited as we get more information.
