The Season in a Snap – Week 1 Update

Who saw that victory over the Eagles happening? Well, I did. I envisioned some offense or special team trickery to take the lead over the Eagles, with the defense performing well enough for the Washington Football Team (WFT) to eek out a close win. Well I was dead wrong about that – the Team went behind big time in the first quarter, but then showed resilience not exhibited by a WFT team since maybe the first Joe Gibbs era.
WFT now has one win against the six-win total I projected for the season. After one week, they are in sole possession of first place in the NFC East.
Last week, the Eagles were 6 point favorites and the over/under was 45. So, if you took the Team plus the points, you won your bet. If you took under, you also won with only 44 points scored.
This week the Cardinals are a 6.5 point favorites at home over the WFT. The over/under is 47.5 points. Historically, the Washington franchise has a 31 game lead over the Cardinal franchise. Since Dan Snyder purchased the franchise in 1999, WFT has held a 12-3 record against the Cardinals.
This week I picked the Cardinals to win, but I will be happy to be wrong.
