Game Summary
First Quarter
The Washington Football Team won the toss and deferred, giving the New York Giants the ball on offense first. The Giants drove 40 yards on 7 plays before the WFT defense held and forced a turnover on downs. Then came two bizarre back-to-back plays. Kyle Allen completed a pass to Antonio Gibson for 20 yards, who fumbled. What followed the fumble was a classic NFL Follies moment as both teams repeatedly tried to recover the ball, which rolled more than 25 yards down the field. The Giants finally recovered the fumble at their own 19 yard line. Daniel Jones then completed a 50 yard pass to Austin Mack to set up the first score, a Graham Gano 38 yard field goal. WFT responded with a 3 and out on their next possession. The Giants then had a short drive of 6 plays for 11 yards, the highlight of which was what was initially called an interception by Kevin Pierre-Louis, but was overturned because the ball had hit the ground. Isaiah Wright then fumbled his catch of the punt, which the Giants recovered at the Washington 15 yard line. New York then drove the 15 yards in 4 plays and scored a touchdown on a 2-yard run by Wayne Gallman.
Score: Giants 10, WFT 0

WFT then got the big play it needed. After two 8 yard completions to J.D. McKissic and Logan Thomas, Smith hit Terry McLaurin for a 68 yard touchdown. WFT then drove 49 yards in 10 plays, but Peppers intercepted a pass tipped by McKissic at the Giants’ 40 yard line.
