The Jared GoffMatthew Stafford trade has had some impact on the mock drafts, especially concerning who the Washington Football Team selects.

The Mocks

This week the number of mock drafts published went from 75 to 95, including first mocks from NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks and Lance Zierlein. The biggest change is that three positions now have separated from the rest, quarterback, offensive tackle and wide receiver:

Position Picked Count Picked %
QB 27 28.42%
OT 23 24.21%
WR 20 21.05%
LB 9 9.47%
IOL 8 8.42%
CB 3 3.16%
S 3 3.16%
TE 2 2.11%
Grand Total 95 100.00%

Therefore, one impact from the trade was that more mocks are now going with quarterback as the position of choice at pick number 19 for WFT.

The players mock picked to WFT at nineteen in descending frequency are:

Player Position School Picked Count Picked %
Mac Jones QB Alabama 14 14.74%
Christian Darrisaw OT Virginia Tech 11 11.58%
Trey Lance QB North Dakota State 8 8.42%
Rashod Bateman WR Minnesota 8 8.42%
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah LB Notre Dame 8 8.42%
Alijah Vera-Tucker IOL USC 7 7.37%
Samuel Cosmi OT Texas 7 7.37%
Jaylen Waddle WR Alabama 5 5.26%
Kyle Trask QB Florida 4 4.21%
Kyle Pitts TE Florida 2 2.11%
Rondale Moore WR Purdue 2 2.11%
Terrace Marshall Jr WR LSU 2 2.11%
Rashawn Slater OT Northwestern 2 2.11%
Kadarius Toney WR Florida 2 2.11%
Andre Cisco S Syracuse 1 1.05%
Patrick Surtain II CB Alabama 1 1.05%
Elijah Moore WR Mississippi 1 1.05%
Caleb Farley CB Virginia Tech 1 1.05%
Alex Leatherwood OT Alabama 1 1.05%
Micah Parsons LB Penn State 1 1.05%
Jaycee Horn CB South Carolina 1 1.05%
Liam Eichenberg OT Notre Dame 1 1.05%
Dillon Radunz OT North Dakota State 1 1.05%
Wyatt Davis IOL Ohio State 1 1.05%
Trevon Moehrig-Woodard S TCU 1 1.05%
Jevon Holland S Oregon 1 1.05%
Zack Wilson QB BYU 1 1.05%

Mac Jones is now the leading pick, surpassing Christian Darrisaw for the first time since this column started.

Breaking down the top positions:

  • Quarterback – Mac Jones (52% of QB picks), Trey Lance (30%), Kyle Trask (15%)
  • Offensive tackle – Christian Darrisaw (48% of OT picks), Samuel Cosmi (30%), Rashawn Slater (9%)
  • Wide receiver – Rashod Bateman (40% of WR picks), Jaylen Waddle (25%), Rondale Moore (10%), Terrace Marshall Jr. (10%) Kadarius Toney (10%)

Once the Super Bowl is over, expect more changes as teams release players to meet the “Rule of 51” offseason requirements. The other major influencer would be any trades or free agent signings of released players.
