This signing comes on the heels of Washington’s 2020 starting corner Ronald Darby departing for the Denver Broncos.
Jackson, who stands 6’0″ and weighs 196 pounds, was the Bengals’ first round pick out of the University of Houston. He played in 59 games in four seasons for Cincinnati, with 49 starts, and made 150 tackles, including 119 solo, and 3 interceptions, and was credited with 41 passes defended. In 2020, Jackson played and started 14 games, and made 45 tackles, including 38 solo tackles, and 1 interception, and defended 11 passes. Jackson is known for his speed and was timed at 4.37 in the 40 yard dash at the NFL Combine.
Jackson joins a cornerback group that includes starter Kendall Fuller, 2019 7th round pick Jimmy Moreland and 2018 7th round pick Greg Stroman, plus practice squad level players DeMarkus Acy, Jordan Brown, and Torry McTyer. Given the size of Jackson’s contract and the lack of proven talent on the roster, Jackson will presumably step into a starting role opposite Fuller on the outside.
