Thoughts
Sam Cosmi signed a big contract extension but now leads the team in penalty calls.
The Commanders cannot have penalties that take touchdowns off the scoreboard; their offense is not that good yet. Austin Ekeler opened the game with a kickoff return for a touchdown that was called back for a sloppy holding call.
The Commanders also cannot keep having penalties in the red zone. They killed every red zone opportunity against the Giants with penalties all false starts which is just dumbfounding. The team was lucky to win the game on 7 Austin Seibert field goals in a once in a lifetime game score. No other team has won a game in regulation with only fields when the opposing team scored at least two touchdowns. Seiber won the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award for his performance.
Seibert set a franchise record for most field goals in a single game and is now third in most points scored in a single game behind Dick James and Larry Brown who scored 24 points in a game (four touchdowns).
