Draft Data

There are now 234 mock drafts published since December, up 12 from last week, with 61% of the picks being made or updated in the last two weeks. In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Commanders will have the 29th overall pick in the first round.  The position picked for Washington, by descending frequency, is:

Position Picked Count Picked % Last Week % % Change
Edge 72 30.77% 23.87% 6.90%
WR 48 20.51% 22.07% -1.56%

CB 20 8.55% 7.21% 1.34%
DL 15 6.41% 7.21% -0.80%
S 13 5.56% 5.41% 0.15%
RB 11 4.70% 4.50% 0.20%

IOL 5 2.14% 3.15% -1.02%
QB 0 0.00% 0.00% 0.00%
Grand Total 234 100%

N/A = No pick because it was in a trade package for Myles Garrett, which won’t happen now with his contract extension.

The shift away from wide receiver continues, with a 1.6% decrease this week. As noted in last week’s column, the focus on edge players will likely increase as we move closer to the draft. The edge position was up 6.9%. Cornerback bounced back up 1.3% after last week’s decrease. Safety and running back were up slightly while all other positions decreased.

The “player picked” list saw huge changes this week. The wide receiver picks dropped out of the top positions with the first three picks all being edge players now. James Pearce, Donovan Ezeiruaku and Mike Green now sit atop the list. Nic Scourton is another player I expect to keep climbing up the board.

Position Focus

The Commanders brought back veteran linebackers Frankie Luvu and Bobby Wagner along with last year’s draft pick Jordan Magee. Washington will probably seek to add more depth to the position through later rounds in the draft or undrafted free agent signings. A few names to watch for during the draft are:

Nick Martin, Oklahoma State

Cody Lindenberg, Minnesota

Cody Simon, Ohio State

Francisco Mauigoa, Miami
