Rivera’s aware that winning will get the fans “all-in”

Head Coach Ron Rivera spoke with the local media on Wednesday as they continue to prepare for the Los Angeles Chargers, who head into FedEx Field this Wednesday. Winning has not been easy in Washington; as a matter of fact, it has been very tough to produce consecutive winning seasons and playoff appearances. As a result, Washington’s fan base has taken a hit and has dwindled, and fans are not showing up to the games to support the team at home. Understandably so, right?

Rivera officially begins his second season as the Head Coach for the Washington Football Team this Sunday. As part of this preparation for the Los Angeles Chargers and the launch of the 2021 campaign, Rivera understands that the ball is in the team’s court now. It is time to produce a good product week in and week out.

“That’s up to us now. I mean, we’ve got to keep up our part of the bargain. They come out and cheer for us and support us and we’ve got to go out and produce. That’s the only way you get the fan base back. Appreciate the folks that come out and cheer for us. We appreciate them when we see them when we’re out in public. But in order for us to be successful, we’ve got to go out and play good football. We’ve got to play hard, clean, good football and I think that’s how you win your fans back by playing hard.” –  Rivera on how he will be able to tell that the fanbase has gone from curious to all in.

Rivera has plenty to prepare for, and one game would not bring out all of the dormant energy that the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area has. However, getting off to a win in the opener as the defending NFC East Champs can provide Washington’s momentum to spark the fanbase.
