Washington went with Wentz
As I am sure you all are well aware by now, Washington has traded multiple picks for former Eagle and more formerly Colt, Carson Wentz. Adam Schefter first announced the trade, an unexpected move by the Commanders (still not used to it).
Trade terms, per sourcesβ¦
Colts get:
π2022 third-round pick
π2023 third-round pick that can become a second if Carson Wentz plays 70 percent of plays.
π2022 second-round pickCommanders get:
πQB Carson Wentz
π2022 second-round pick.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 9, 2022
Last year Wentz put up 3,563 yards 27 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Wile those numbers sound sold, the Colts struggled last year with the team failing to make the playoffs despite being in good position near the end of the season and a favorable schedule, needing to win just one of their final two games. A failure made even more public thanks to the HBO’s Hard Knocks. Washington is expected to take on Wentz’s full contract which runs for three more seasons, which comes with a $28.3 million dollar cap hit in 2022, 26 million dollar cap hit in 2023 and 27 million in 2024, though the guaranteed money for Wentz would end next season, and he could be released with no cap penalty at that point.
