Three of the mock drafts have Washington trading away its first-round pick for Garrett. That data is represented by the N/A in the position results table and “No Pick” in the player results table.

This year is different than some previous drafts, because instead of the focus being on one particular position, the Commanders have the possibility of addressing several different positions, which is reflected in the wide variety of positions and players listed above.
Draft Thoughts
The likelihood of what position the Commanders draft can be categorized in three levels:
High – offensive tackle, defensive line and wide receiver
Medium – cornerback, interior offensive line, linebacker
Low – tight end, running back, safety
With the number of players under contract and the large number of free agents that Washington will need to sign to build a decent roster, it makes it more difficult to gauge at this point in the process on what positions Washington will concentrate, if any. Also, since they are picking much lower this year, the talent available is highly variable and dependent on what picks and trades are made in advance of the Commanders’ draft pick.
Overall, it is a fairly deep draft for the positions listed in the high category which increases their likelihood of being the position drafted by Washington. Those positions also coincide with positions of need for the Commanders.
Position Focus
The defensive line will see an overhaul this offseason. That group underperformed most of the season. They lacked the ability to apply a consistent pass rush as well as stopping the run. Several players the Commanders might be interested in are:
Mike Green, Edge, Marshall

Shemar Stewart, Edge, Texas A&M
Shemar Stewart is a FREAKISH athlete 👀
At 6’5, 281lbs, Stewart possesses alien explosiveness, quickness, and raw power that allows him to wreak havoc and defend the run at an elite level.
He dominated the Senior Bowl and earned himself an early withdrawal. pic.twitter.com/6E5Yod2ATo

Kenneth Grant (6’3”, 342 lbs) is an absolute unit on the interior. His motor is nonstop. Going to improve a team’s run defense day 1. Top-20 pick pic.twitter.com/Qn6BfQam70

Tyleik Williams, DL, Ohio St
Tyleik Williams has arguably the highest ceiling as a run defender in the class. He couldn't be blocked vs. Iowa. pic.twitter.com/mhxKQ5CKYv

Deone Walker, DL, Kentucky
Deone Walker’s tape is NIGHTMARE FUEL 🤯
He’s amassed 97 pressures, 15 sacks, and 70 stops in 3 years playing EVERYWHERE—from nose tackle to edge rusher.
Imagine having to block a 6’7, 342lb lineman who is quick enough to be a stand-up pass rusher… pic.twitter.com/dxoZubwqIC
