The Dream Was Alive in the 1991 Redskins Super Bowl, Part 1
January 26, 2018
by Chris Larry
As a proud, card-carrying member of Generation X, the 1990’s were a rich era. Sure many of you are rolling your eyes and clucking your tongues, go ahead, mock. If you use the metrics of the decade’s popular culture by its music (which is basically my only metric) then the 1990’s are sneaky good. Rubes will throw out boy bands and other pop dreck (quickly give me a decade that doesn’t have that, teenage girls are a renewable resource after all) against my argument but that looks past Nirvana, Hip-Hop’s ascendancy and entire regional scenes going mainstream. I am such a 90’s fan boy that I was excited by the non-comedic possibilities of the Portlandia sketch The Dream of the 90’s is Alive in Portland and almost uprooted my family to move there…
So I am clearly sick in the head and have probably alienated most of you already, but WAIT. The common thread that can bind all of our 90’s nostalgia together is the 1991 Super Bowl Champion Washington Redskins. We had no idea then that this was a high water mark for the franchise that we may never sniff again. Back in those long gone days we thought we were on an everlasting plateau of beatific dominance. But alas we gather to celebrate and remember the past, not the future, so join me around the warm comments campfire and revisit this legendary team’s postseason steamroll toward Super Bowl XXVI.
Here is how this is going to roll: this post will look at their NFC Championship run, and next week we will look at the Super Bowl. I would love to get your rewarmed takes on that Super Bowl game, so load them up for me in the comments and I will work them in for next week’s post.
There isn’t much that needs to say about the team’s regular season other than that they were dominant. They lost one legitimate game (to an on the rise Cowpukes…gross) with their second loss coming in a ‘sit the vets’ finale against the Buffalo Bills (more on these clowns next week). They outscored their opponents by a greater margin (261) then then points they allowed (224). There are so many more eye-popping stats that show just how much ass they kicked you can just read their Wikipedia page yourself so I don’t have to copy and paste it for you (but wowsers, +18 in turnover differential, only 9 sacks allowed and 5 D/ST touchdowns)
Three reasons make this a special team:
- They bridged the 80’s teams but had lots of new energy. The Hogs were there of course but gone were Doug Williams, John Riggins and Dave Butz. George Starke wasn’t walking through that door. Instead names like Ricky Ervins, Mark Rypien, Jim Lachey and Martin Mayhew had stepped in and the team was experiencing a mini-youth movement
- Everyone knows what this team did through the air. Oh right, many of you were still being bottle fed at this time, so let me tell you this: Mark Rypien had 28 TDs and only 11 picks while completing almost 60% of his passes for 3564 yards. And kids, this was when they actually let defensive backs play football. But people always forget how well they ran the ball. The three headed beast of Earnest Byner (listen to The Hog Sty’s interview with Earnest here: http://www.thehogsty.com/2017/10/26/earnest-byner/), Gerald Riggs and Ricky Ervin combined for 1976 yards and 19 touchdowns. Oh yeah, add in 489 receiving yards and TD just for spice. This diverse ground attack proved huge in postseason.
- They were a T-E-A-M. Not only in how mechanically they excelled at every aspect of the game but how they comported themselves and broadcast a cohesion that is almost unthinkable in today’s society, let alone sports culture. They are always in any short listed conversation of “greatest SB team” and “greatest seasons”
NFC Division Round: Washington Redskins vs the Atlanta Falcons January 4th, 1992. Final score 24-7.
I really don’t think this would have mattered, but it has to be said, the Skins had one of the easier paths to a Super Bowl this side of the 2017 New England Patriots. First up was the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons were led by the decent but unmemorable QB Chris Miller. Their biggest star was Andre Rison (i.e. Andre “Bad Moon” Rison) and they had headline grabbing Jerry Glanville at coach. Washington had actually beaten Atlanta in Week 11 to the tune of 56-17. The Falcons posed no threat to the juggernaut that was this Skins team. This game was never close and the score doesn’t reflect the beat down. This game was a classic example of how efficient the ’91 Redskins were against almost all opponents that year. Remember that ground attack that always seemed like an afterthought to the air game with this team? The 3 headed beast combined for 168 yards and 3 TDs. This game does provide a great memory to bring a tear to our oldster’s eye – 55,181 crazed fans at RFK tossing their giveaway seat cushions into the air with exuberance as Riggs iced the game with a signature goal line battering ram TD. Let’s relive this moment shall we:
NFC Division Round: Washington Redskins vs the Detroit Lions January 12th, 1992. Final score 41-10.
All legendary teams need to catch a few bits of luck on their runs to glory. And here my friends is where Gibbs’ team got their biggest one. The young Cowboy triplets (gag) led by that crooked college coach Jimmy Johnson were the only real threat to the Skins that season. They were the sole team to legitimately beat them all year. Of course history shows us they would go on to soil the rest of the 90’s with a run of their own, but that is an unsavory tale. And yet in the playoffs that year they somehow lost to the Lions by a jaw-dropping score of 38-6! Erik Kramer, our hats off to you. Wayne Fontes is a genius. Barry Sanders, well you are Barry Sanders. This set-up an NFC Championship game of a re-match of the season’s opening day meeting. Which the Skins won 45 to zippy. Detroit gave up 85 points and 737 total yards in its season opening and closing games to Rypien and the offense that season. This wasn’t a game; it was a clinic with the Skins turning a modest 7-0 lead at halftime into that sc ore you read above. I know I have gone out of my way to not talk about how insane in the membrane the passing game was, so let me highlight The Posse’s day: 183 yards and 2 TDs. And let’s call out my man Terry Orr who piled on another 45 yards from the H-Back role. This game even featured a hapless and desperate Andre Ware throwing a pick-6 to Darrell Green! So all great teams get breaks (or all the breaks *cough* Patriots) but it’s what you do with them that matters, and the Skins rewarded the Lions for doing their dirty work for them with another humiliating drubbing.
Next Up: We ride the Bandwagon into Minneapolis, Minnesota for Super Bowl XXVI.
Move along – new post: http://www.thehogsty.com/2018/01/29/ricks-rant-4/
Mornin’ Steve
But here’s the GOOD thing…aside from Norman, every defensive back on the Redskins 53 man roster is 26 or under….Kendall Fuller is only 22!!!
2017 Redskins FA signings
Pos. Player Age 2016 Team Contract
DT Stacy McGee 27 Oakland Raiders 5 years, $25 million
DT Terrell McClain 28 Dallas Cowboys 4 years, $21 million
SS D.J. Swearinger 25 Arizona Cardinals 3 years, $13.5 million
WR Terrelle Pryor 27 Cleveland Browns 1 year, $8 million
LB Zach Brown 27 Buffalo Bills 1 year, $2.3 million
OLB Chris Carter 28 Indianapolis Colts 1 year, $885,000
WR Brian Quick 27 Los Angeles Rams 1 year, $855,000
DT Ziggy Hood 30 Washington Redskins 2 years, $2.7 million
The Redskins defense was good before the injuries…we just have to be able to run a marathon, not a sprint.
Did the Skins sign any other big FA’s last year other than ZBrown and TPryor?
Swearinger
Yes. Thank you. So we hit on 2/3.
Of course we blew it on the Dline signings, but I blame those on Bruce.
I think McGee was decent…a lot of what he did didn’t show up on the stat sheet
the Irish brothers
McGee was ok, McClain was a bust
Boy this place is getting to be like the old place
no new thread for days…
lol
‘Zacly. Sad.
Like Bill Clinton in 92’…It’s comin’.
so Rick what IMPACT defensive FA are you going to sign?
ZBROWN
He got ’em on da Rolodex!
I’d like to take a look at Ezekiel Ansah from the Lions.
I would not be surprise if the Lions franchise him
Hard to find a guy that good in the draft
Redskins
1. Put your best deal on the table for Cousins now.
2. Give Kirk and his agent until a certain date to accept or reject the deal.
3. If he rejects the deal, thank him for his services and move on.
4. Take the P-R hit
5. Sign an IMPACT defensive FA or two.
6. Let Jay get HIS guy and let’s get ready for 2018
Certain date?
How about, ‘You have until 5pm today to decide’
3/6/18
pretty much what I posted last week
They have until FA’s starts to put their best offer on the table, and Kirk wont sign it because he wants to be a FA.
7. Fire Jay at the end of the season when we go <6-10.
8. Bring in new hot offensive coach or Nick Saban.
9. Wait a year for Jay's guy to fail in his "second system in two years."
10. Let the new coach/Saban draft "his guy."
(heavy snarkasm font)
The Doomsday Clock is at 2 minute to midnight.
So, if there’s anyone you want to have the end is near sex with, now’s your chance.
Looking around……..no, goddammit
The 1983 Redskins would have beaten everyone other team from the loser list except for maybe the 2007 Patriots
That was a pretty good team
Theismann would have had a better game if it weren’t for Mr. Roid Rage, also.
If half the team wasn’t at Mons Venus or Odyssey 2001 until 4am before the game…
Lol, those were the days
He’s a bit of a knucklehead, but Jarvis Landry is a BEAST. I would have him in for a FA visit.
Yeah
I want zero part of any trades that cost us picks
Skins get the 5th pick overall in that scenario
What did we give up on Saturday to make it happen
What’s interesting about Aquib Talib is that he was heavily pursued by the Redskins in 5 years ago….even came for a free agent visit, but the salary cap penalty left them short on cash to make the deal.
Shot himself, fuck that – BTG
5 years in NFL years is like 15 to regular schlubs
Still a heck of a player.
From HogsHaven
Denver would get Kirk (and his $34m tag), while the Redskins would get Talib and his $11m 2018 salary.
The teams would swap draft picks, with the Broncos getting the 13th pick and the Redskins getting Denver’s 5th overall. The Redskins might have to throw in a Saturday pick to even things out, but I imagine that a 30-year-old QB in the prime of his career has more trade value than a 32-year-old cornerback, so I’m not sure how much value the Redskins would have to add to move up the 8 spots.
The Broncos would immediately sign a new long-term deal with Kirk, replacing his one-year contract and allowing them to lower his 2018 cap hit and secure his services for several years.
The Redskins would end up with a talented but aging CB, an $11m cap hit, and the 5th overall pick in the draft. Of course, the Redskins already have one 30-year-old cornerback scheduled to account for $16.93m against the cap in 2018.
Why trade for a CB when it’s one spot we are decently deep at.
Why not trade for one of their WR’s we are desperate for WR talent.
especially a 32 year old cb??? dumb
Dumb is right.
no no no
Denver is throwing him in for free because they have to cut him otherwise
I’d rather not take the $11m cap hit.
cut him, I don’t think he has any dead cap on the contract
Oh, ok, in that case, it’s an $11m option.
he has $1 mil dead with a 12 mil salary
Did they just pick Talib because his going elsewhere makes the #s work with Denver’s cap?
That’s my suspicion; not based on a Skins need.
yes
Right. That’s exactly what Denver will do.
In some other universe.
Somebody communicated that through a bookshelf.
Muuurrrrrrrrff!
btw, that trade, sans Talib is what I proposed here already. Skins in theory get more than nothing, Denver gets their guy and keeps a 1st round pick, which they otherwise would use perhaps on a QB
Tell’m that it’s way too early in the Skins off season to be fantasizing about deals that will never be considered by either organization.
Denver has zero motivation to give up the 5th for a 30 year old QB with a huge salary while they’re in a position to likely land a top 3 prospect at the position.
This would get us closer to drafting Josh Rosen!
Yeah this wouldn’t even work in make believe land.
Here’s a hard one, doing a mock draft now. Top two options:
LB ROQUON SMITH – GEORGIA
S DERWIN JAMES – FLORIDA STATE
Easy.
James.
There’s always another LB.
James
BTW, best QB’s available were
Allen, picked by Jags at 29
Rodolph, fan speak projects as 64th best prospect, I picked with skins 2nd round pick.
if Smith can play ilb and not ss?
How bad was the pro bowl?
Her: I need a new bag
Me: Let’s go
O, it already happened??
LOL
What is “bag” code for?
Bag
Well that’s totally fucking boring…..
That kid Davenport…the edge rusher, at the Senior Bowl…was a man among boys.
Is he a DE, can we convert him to OLB? – Skins
Looking at Net average for a punter is uselsss. Inside the 20 is really all that matters. Without looking I bet the difference between 1-32 net average is less than 10 yards.
So….. what do you guys think about Cousins?
KSFTG
#metoo
I’m thinking the needle is moving closer, slowly, to him signing here again
fat chance
Denver will roll out a sweetheart deal, including an oath of allegiance to Kirk, plus nonstop Creed music at practice. Way too hard of a deal to pass up.
KSFTG
is Denver going to give him Stafford money?
Patsy
Damn shame he got hurt. Stick a fork in the Pelicans.
My cousins. One is cool, she works on broadway. One has real anger problems, got kicked out of college for drug, kicked out of home because he wouldn’t share his drugs with his mom. One is going through depression due to his parents getting devorce. And one’s a total bro-dog douche. Technically I have 3 others who I’ve never met because their dad had a falling out with the family when I was 9 or 10.
Lol “bro-dog douche”
He’s slowly creeping out of that phase now that he’s out of college, slowly.
Here’s to a upward trajectory, cheers.
A conversation I had with him last christmas, he was talking about his new girlfriend, and saying they were getting serious. I asked him how long they had been dating, he boasted 2 months. I kinda snickered at that and asked how long his longest relationship had been, he said 2 months.
Yeah, peeps can always change though. No one needs a subsection of their family spawning bro-dog douchebags… it’s a underrated problem in this country.
Especially where they live in the suburbs of NYC. Some would say that’s the epicenter for the problem.
it is odd that the man to woman ratio is so close to 50/50 when biologically speaking, you could have prob 90% women and the system would work just fine. maybe this allows for men to fight to the death, with the best genetics rising to the top and getting to impregnate the clan?
90% women would only work if there was only ONE clan.
I’ve long been taught that generally humans have been biologically predisposed to monogamy for a span of about 5-6 years, enough time to breed, and raise kids to a point where the children aren’t useless.
Then it’s off to the next round of draft picks!
Basically. In primitive man there was also a natural tenancy when 2 tribes met for swinging, to diversify the DNA pool of each tribe.
The things one can remember from Anthropology and Sociology classes 20 years ago.
Strictly business….
If you have the resources and maturity to handle it, it’s not a situation where the children lack a father figure.
Public service announcement: Andrew Wingard S, Wyoming, has some scouts giving him great “football player” reviews, but…….when watching film on this kid, he must have missed 10 tackles in one game. Very, very Compton like. I will never draft him again.
DC Dan,
I find that even though I really enjoy First-Picks design more, they are very slow to adjust what players are in it. Where Fanspeak trys to tweak their rankings every week at a minimum.
Yes
If you got to Fanspeak.com they tell you when they last adjusted their draft orders for all the various rankings they’ve got.
With their own it’s last updated: 1/28/2018
But they’ve got another one up there from all the way back before Halloween, 10/25/2017
The Senior Bowl and similar ‘all star’ college games are pretty cool. We get an opportunity to see players we’ve never seen or even heard of, competing against good players across the board. Also a lot of players we’ll never see or hear of again. Gives the scouts some more film, plus interviews.
I like them too. Would rater watch these over the stupid-pro-bowl any day.
They used to have a game back in the day ( we’re talking pre-facemasks) where a college all star team would play an NFL team. I kinda want to see that brought back.
Wouldn’t it be fun to do that now, last place NFL team goes H2H with an all american team.
Yeah
Could the Browns beat a team made up of all americans?
I don’t think they could.
I agree, and there needs to be some sort of penalty or fine for hogging the top of the draft, year in and year out, without improvement.
^ If the Browns took it seriously, they’d destroy any team of collegians.
A single college team, sure.
But we are talking about a team made up of top prospects. Basically the Browns vs a team of 1st and 2nd round picks.
^ Same result IMO. The problem would be getting the NFL team to take it seriously.
Ummmm… I think it would be more difficult for the college players to take it seriously….
I’d have a hard time taking the browns seriously 😉
a team vs a barely practiced all star team?
maybe in basketball, but not football. the college team would be better off if they faced maybe the 1st team out of the playoff, so basically 5th best team.
I remember that. The NFL team would usually take it pretty easy on the kids. But, I remember one game, I think it was the Steelers, that beat the absolute dog snot out of a college team in the first half.

R. Smith is an A+ pick, and if Brown signs elsewhere and A++.
Hard to imagine a scenario where Smith wouldn’t be the BPA at 13.
Easy, he’s picked at 12.
Which has happened to me almost every single time.
^ That would do it! Equally hard to imagine he wouldn’t be BPA at 12. Or 11. Or 10.
unless he’s a SS in the NFL
Like said last week….every pick after round 4 is an A+, lol on the mock draft site.
Pick Wingard in the fourth, I dare you.
Not everyone I had some C’s
Doing one now!!
It’s a very talented draft.
HOF’rs everywhere.
It’s true.
Here’s an example from Friday, (Shultz is a A+ in round four, on planet Earth.

Round 7 Pick 23: Alex Cappa , OT, Humboldt State (B+)
It’s funny, these mock draft sites, while they can be entertaining to attempt, are all over the place with who’s available at what spot. I was using Firstpick yesterday and I didn’t even have the option to draft Kyle Lauletta, while some people are talking about him as a potential 2nd round pick now.
The only thing I take issue with on them is, they tend to still make available kids that have announced that they’re returning to school.
Did you watch the senior bowl?
I did
Didn’t he move like Drew Brees, I thought he did.
He looked good for sure, accurate, quick release, seemed to have pretty good zip on the ball. I watched a few of his games after the SB and he seems like he’d be a good fit in a WC system. His college offense was a lot of short quick throws, timing routes, some RPO. The only thing you don’t see is him throwing the ball down the field much, but that may be more a function of the offense he was in.
Yeah. Specifically his pocket movement. He slides quickly and deliberately, then releases the ball quickly. It’s the same style.
Yea, that 2nd TD pass he threw to the TE was a good example of that, slid to his left put the ball on the money
ESPN ranks 1983 Redskins as the seventh-best team to not win a Super Bowl
1 Colts 1968
2 Patriots 2007
3 Steelers 1976
4 Vikings 1969
5 Cowboys 1968
6 Rams 1973
7 Redskins 1983
8 Lions 1970
9 Saints 2011
10 49ers 1987
That’s a lot of good football teams.
Steroids
The ’69 Vikes, what a defense. Stram did a brilliant job in the SB, snookered ’em good.
i don’t know anything about those 60s teams. i guess in my life, i’d put 2007 patriots* as #1, and that 83 redskins team as #2.
odd that 4 of the 10 are from 1970 or earlier
He matriculated the ball down the field, boys.

Well see, to be fair…
THS did let us know that this was going to be the only post for the weekend. A thing that TI never did.
Weekend
the picture of Isla Fisher below reminds me of a young Lucille Ball. I think I’ll is prettier but still any of the older guys here concur?
Also fine, IMO
absolutely both were very attractive women Isla Fisher is just a nother level to me
I love those Strawberry blondes.
how about Amy Adams?
Yes sir, happily ever after material.

We have punter
Trees Way laughed off some really shitty play this season, unacceptable – flounder
Nailed it
I want the best punter in the nation, Tress Way was terrible last year.
But he has a board game.
Terrible? Really?
49% turrible?
Terrible might be a stretch but he was 30th in net average. He wasn’t good this past season. He did pretty well downing opponents inside the 20 but overall I’d say he was average at best
I can’t think of a time when he kicked the ball and I thought “OMG what a shitty punt”. Didn’t shank anything. Over the past few years, though, I can think of numerous times where he’d nail one, and my wife and I would look at each other and say “Yep. The best dude on the team is the punter.”
But now I guess he’s horrible and needs to be replaced lol. Short-minded people.
What you perceived isn’t necessarily fact. He’s an average punter
Maybe in your eyes he is, and maybe on the stat sheets he is, but the stat sheets don’t take into account things like whether or not the returner is dangerous or where he’s punting from. If you’re punting from the other team’s 45 yard line, a 35 yard punt is great. Tress was doing a ton of those.
I’m not saying it’s a priority to replace him. it’s not, but if you add a player who ends of being an upgrade at any position that’s a good thing
I’m just surprised, because our punter has played really well since we picked him up, so when Flounder said he’s terrible and wanted to waste a 5th round pick on a rookie, I shared my thoughts.
It’s a mock draft by a guy on the internet, I don’t really care that much. He can pick all punters. But if the general agreement among hamsters is that Tress Way needs replace, I think y’all lost your minds.
“Needs” to be replaced is too strong. Could possibly be upgraded is more like it. if we don’t replace him I have no issue with it.
He is average.
I don’t think I’ve heard one person say that, excluding this morning.
Its the second time I’ve heard that Way needs replacing.
Can we count it as one if it’s from the same source?
Wow, project much?
The 49% rears it’s head.
Thank you
Ranked 13th in avg yds per punt.
Tied for 3rd for punts inside the 20.
51% wholesome goodness?
Strange I thought on a special teams full of dregs Way actually stood out as one of the shining stars.
Yes, thank you 65
the first thing I thought of is the comment you made when you are punting from Midfield you don’t have to have a huge net average. he’s a good punter I would not waste a Draft pick on a punter this year no way in hell!
When he has room to kick it long, he has plenty of leg. When he doesn’t have as much room, he gets it inside the 20. He gets plenty of hang time. He’s even connected on at least one deep throw and he gets in on tackles. Not sure what more you’d want in a punter.
you get no disagreement for me I don’t know what these other guys are looking at it plenty of other faults and flaws on our special teams to focus on our punter is fine
When looking into the David Irving contract issues…
“For example, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith sat out his rookie season on the non-football injury list due to a knee injury suffered during his final game at Notre Dame, so his first season in the NFL was not an accrued season. However, Washington wide receiver Josh Doctson appeared in only two games, but his Achilles injury didn’t keep his rookie season from being an accrued one.”
Would you consider that a poor strategy by the Skins front office, or at least “limiting their own options” with that decision? I’m sure it would be hard to do, him being a first round pick and all.
I think they though he was going to be able to play, their was no chance Smith was going to be able to play.
Yeah, that sucks. If he ends up doing well, but not well enough to back up the truck… maybe could’ve recouped something there.
Why are we talking about pukes?
I thought you were smarter than that.
Sorry to disappoint.
Now, why are we talking about pukes?
We’re not, and I’m not “disappointed”, per se, just mildly amused.
The more personal question would be, why is our team so bad at finding and developing versatile impact players…
That 4-3 “their scheme” stuff ain’t gonna fly with players like that. 4-3, 3-4, either end, inside at Tackle. Whatever
I think you’re asking a rhetorical question because you know exactly who is responsible for that.
I reckon…… 🙂
Any minute now….
Happy Monday!
I reckon….
It is what you make of it.
I reckon…
Ha ha
It’s raining.
it’s raining here too, 60 degrees and rain
We’re at 42°
Yuck
Yeah, just like Jolly ole’ England

If you’re picking a late QB, check out Chase Litton from Marshall.
Litton was already gone and White is very accurate.
I’m not saying it’s a bad pick, founder.
Where’s the Spider falling?
unless James is the next Sean Taylor, I don’t like taking a safety with the number one pick.
There is only one Sean Taylor, but he’s really fucking good.
He would be the best Safety by far we have had since Sean Taylor.
Alright Monday. Lets get this over with.

So Beto O’Rourke decided to do a 24-Hour nonstop campaigning marathon. He’s 15-hours into it, and I’m almost exhausted checking in on the live-streamed event.
10 hours in to our 24-hour livestream. Some highlights:
6:30 Morning run at Memorial Park in Houston
8am Making donuts at Glazed
10:15 On with AM Joy (MSNBC)
11:00 Serving meals at Beacon Center
12:00 Visit to Houston campaign HQ
2pm Voter registration training

Unbelievable hustle.
You’re watching someone on MSNBC… SHOCKING!
Ha! I did. And he did great.
It was fun watching Beto go toe-to-toe with Tucker Carlson.
No one knows who you’re talking about.
But if they’re on MSNBC… you can get they are a joke of a human.
making glazed doughnuts ? That sounds absolutely grueling .
Now, I know this attempt to be organized is a big step for you. So go.

Thick ribeye steaks off the grill, asparagus, baked potato, Caesar salad, and a nice red wine. Nice way to wrap up the weekend.
Cabernet or Merlot
Cabernet
Any further details?
My wife picked up a couple of bottles of Louis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon. Nice taste. Pairs well with ribeye.
Cool. Sounds delicious
It’s also reasonably priced. It was the house cabernet at an upscale steak house here in Austin.
Sounds good. Deer chili for me.

“Whether it was his decision or not… it was a bad choice.”
Sam Bradford you know he is who he is not sure he’s going to get any better or worse Case Keenum can he continue his one-year wonder and Teddy Bridgewater amazing he can even walk much less play football but will he be durable going forward
Bradford coming to DC might be seen as a ploy to garner Native American support but Trump might say he was bullshitting and tag him with ‘Sitting Bull Sam’.
NFL Network on Sirius is talking about Minnesota and the three quarterbacks they have been of all played at this level and theyre really talking about how hard it’s going to be to decide who wins the job
Thats better!

The pro bowl described by Furio
Russini doing the Pro Bowl post-game.
huh. had never seen her before. i got the impression she was hotter than she actually is.
She’s not hot.
I never thought she was much either. Never liked her when she was on NBC 4 because she never let Jim Vance comment (like he did so masterfully with George Michael) and would awkwardly cut him off.
Just because a girl gives head doesn’t make her hot… I mean, it makes her hotter than she would otherwise be but most of the time that’s not saying much.
yeah she’s nothing as far as I’m concerned she’s not even cute
https://youtu.be/_87pRe1MUwE
They are talking bout Russini right?
Amazing how with 90 seconds left in the game, and it’s close, suddenly guys are making an effort 😛
Money on the line.
Yep. Thing is, the same money was on the line the whole game when they were jogging through 2 hours of touch football.
I enjoyed the last 4 or so plays of the game lol
I would consider money a trophy. Sarcastically or not.
But when it’s time to close it out, sure, go all out. I get that.
I remember Roger Clemens coming back to Houston and doing a minor league game with his son catching. His son came out to the mound and told his dad that if they got 1 more out, all the fans would get a free bottle of washer fluid. Clemens struck the final batter out on 3 pitches.
He’s delicate.
I gotta drink all this winter lager before spring.
Who’s winning? Does everyone get a trophy?
No, everyone gets money
60 grand for the winners, 30 grand for the losers.
Did he just call that guy Keanu Reeves? What a dope!

I kinda want to watch the pro bowl, but:
1. Nobody’s playing football
2. Fucking Cowboy fan commercials
So for the crowd that thinks that football is too violent and is on the verge of extinction….look no further than the Pro Bowl. This is what football will look like in the future…
garbage.
It’ll be co-ed. Each team has to start at least one retard. Girls can’t be flagged for anything.
i think the problem is going to start being insurance premiums for the schools that have programs. in order to keep the sport viable as we know it, i think the move needs to be somehow de-couple the football pipeline to the pro’s from school athletics. how you’d do that, i have no idea. people who wanted to play would have to start later in life.
This is how I see it as well. The NFL will figure out a way to handle the concussion/CTE situation because it has billions of dollars in a war chest to deal with this kind of thing, but high schools don’t.
they could go, like, the flag route through college, then the NFL would have to have a minor-league system for those who wanted to go on and hit, play professionally.
Is it Connecticut that is making tackle illegal for under the age of 12?
I wonder if people who vacuum up their leaves realize how much longer that method takes than any other means of getting rid of leaves.
Mulch that shit man.
Faster than chopsticks.

Riddick never shuts up.
Big Ben looks like he’s been traded to the Chiefs.
to make this thing watchable, i’d model the Pro Bowl like All-Star weekend like the NBA, sorta. first, i’d move it to 2 of 3 weeks after the Super Bowl so guys can rest up some, wouldn’t have the guys who played for the Championship exempt, and just go ahead and make it a flag-football game. there’d be no hitting, but the players might compete a little harder. i like the skills competitions they’re doing now before the game.
It’s less watchable than me.
– Drying Paint
Freakin’ monsoon going on down here
Carr always looks like he’s wearing eye liner.
Cause he’s a bitch.
Pro Bowl has been unwatchable for years. They should give it up and just do a skills competition or something.
Scrap the whole deal and just do a televised season ending awards show or something
so did anyone watch that movie called bright on Netflix?
Started it, fell off at some point and woke up toward the end. Haven’t gotten back to it. Probably for a reason.
Thx
what the fuck was Ryan Kerrigan doing out there? He barely rush the passer and then on the interception return he looked like he was jogging down the sideline and barely got a hand on anybody I mean this is ridiculous
Well, it is in Orlando… I mean, if you’re gonna get honored for something at least try not to have the celebration in a swamp.
Cut him, he’s not dominant
Youre funny
Thanks
Kerrigan with the final block, haha
If that’s what you call it
got in his way, anyway…
kinda, yeah
I just can’t bring myself to watch the game.
It’s good for napping
Did you see Slayer is hanging it up?
yeah, bummed, but they’re old, so i get it. saw their tour this last summer, they were still pretty good, but Alex Skolnick isn’t any Jeff Hanneman.
Skolnick is older than Jesus
maybe they’ll do like Sabbath and have a few more “farewell” tours before they really retire.
The Pro Bowl is the schwag brick weed of football.
The Brown Frown
It’s a total joke. The pass rushers are just standing around
these guys aren’t tackling wide receivers running backs tight ends anybody hardly I mean they might as well play flag football
as if their coverage of the Cowgirls isn’t sycophantic enough, they’re doing a whole series on them and their numbfuck fans? gross.
look at the speed Telvin Smith has, running that back down from all the way on the other side of the play.
we need more players like that on both sides of the line of scrimmage
Rain delay at the Pro Bowl?

Pass rushers doggin’ it.
Another joke… yawn
No hitting. Players helping up players on the other team and shit. Laughter. Sean Taylor would have none of that shit.
I know I’m going to get grief about this but the Pro Bowl has always been a joke and players don’t really hit each other that hard. I always thought Sean Taylor was an incredible player I mean maybe the best I ever had he lived a little bit longer but to take a punter out in a pro bowl game I thought was Bush League I’m waiting for all the criticism of that statement
Some guys just don’t know how to go half speed.
Very true.
He would have been fine but he had to try to fake it. Even in the Pro Bowl, that’s not okay with Taylor…nor should it be.
You wanna punt the ball? Fine. You wanna get cute and try to make a fool of a legitimate killer? Good luck because that’s on the punter at that point.
No mercy.
I get that.
I cannot stand Louis Riddick.

Nerd
Not gonna happen even on a cold day in hell draft.
Pointless
Quick! Say something nerdy!
For some reason, Superman seems to be held to higher standards on the subject of secret/super identities than other superheroes. No one ever says, ‘Peter Parker was a nerdy kid. He can’t possibly be Spider-Man, attract a good-looking gal, work in a newspaper, etc.’ And no one gets hung up on whether his nerdiness is a disguise.
Superman was born that way.
Spiderman was a nerdy kid that didn’t get any lay until he gained superpowers by being bitten by the mutant spider. The self-esteem boost he gained by that event helped him to get laid.
Nerd
I can’t believe I might actually tune in to the Pro Bowl. Wonder if there will be a game thread.
I think this is it till tomorrow
Some really good backnforth about Colt, Kirk and others. At $3M I would think the FO would’ve scoweerd the FA list last year in finding a cheaper, possibly younger and equally better alternative. Instead they kept Colt and rolled with Kirk on the FT. Just watching Colt in the league he simply cannot stay healthy. To me that’s the single biggest knock against any player. Move on
I see you had 15¢ as well….

Grumpy Old Men?
Nope
Correction:
4 fumbles in 2012
5 fumbles in 2013
**2888 rushing yards those 2 seasons.
The 2012 AlMo couldn’t get those numbers here, today.
Nope. Nor anyone on the team. Either more bulldozer linemen like Scherff /and or Derrius. Preferably both.
That scheme hard to replicate anyway.
There are only two reasons AlMo got those numbers then. Shanny and RG3. Fuckin’ Griffy had 800 some yds rushing in ’12 and 4 something in ’13. We had TWill, Flippin’burger, Montgomery, Chester, and Polumbus…..
Don’t forget Paulsen and DY.
And Seattle/Wilson/Lynch copied that O..had similar #s ’12-’14. (As did SF w their SB run in ’12 but couldn’t sustain after that) Their QB was taught to slide tho…
Or…they had good Defense

Chris Thomson was injury plagued his first couple of years, before breaking out. I’m hoping the same can happen with Keith Marshall.
Meh
Wasn’t he injured again this year?
Yes, so was Thompson for 2 years. Not saying it’s going to happen, but when healthy, he does have breakaway speed.
I was referring to Thompson he is still injury plagued.
Yeah, difference between a broken leg and hammy pulls though.
CT has only played 16 games once in 5 seasons, so not exactly a role model.
’13: 4
’14: 2
’15: 13
’16: 16
’17: 10
CT didnt finish ’17 by an anomoly injury…prob woulda been hurt eventually because of shallow RB depth . ’15 was the same. Jones Kelley always hurt…thus CT had to pick up extra bumps and bruises . Cyclic.
RB crew for Skins is lacking and aloof since the departure of Morris… FO to sideline to field. Too much looking for a needle in the haystack and stubborness imo. Fail. CT became a gem but need 2 or 3 whether used much or not…
I wholeheartedly disagree with most of whatever you just said.
Jones and Kelley havent done much to show NFL starter backs… imo
No, neither have Mac Brown, Keith Marshall, Bibbs, Jim Bob or Tom, Dick, and Harry. Chris Thompson is all.
Everyone on this blog (even D_C, now) has given up on Lauv-howeverthefuckyouspellhisname, most of us two years ago.
Alfred Morris had 6 fumbles his first year, if memory serves me correctly.
Exactly. Like I said. ..FO to Sideline to Field. Not sure what you disagreed with. Morris and Shanny are history. Again..This current RB crew grades an F as in Fail.
Well I can’t agree with it if I don’t understand what it says, that would be irresponsible on my part, right?
Draft Dareius Guice. All is well
Will we call him “Juice 2.0”?
Ugh…I keep seeing my brothers picture of him shaking OJs hand back in the 80’s.
How bout the ‘Goose’ ? He got goosed ! ?
Nah
Well f you.
Lol
Better bring the grease…
Eeewwww
See, I knew you didn’t really want it.
Yea no thanks…
Furthermore last offseason I clamored for a C LG somewhat and RB. I got hammered by many on how good Long and Kelley were…here we are a year later. Hope Rouller is the answer and LG is upgraded…cuz no RB is going far w/o better run blocking.
Would it be possible to convert Ryan Anderson to ILB? He certainly looks like he has the frame for it.
There was a lot of speculation about that last season… remains to be seen as there didn’t appear to be any inclination to do it.
I’m not sure what the learning curve is, and he’s really good at edge/contain, so maybe just leave him where he is.
A lot of talking heads speculated about that last offseason and us hamsters took the ball and ran with it. There were also rumors that the Skins had no intention of moving him inside. His college coach even made some comments about how he could do it…
My question is, needing inside linebackers, why did we draft him in the first place?
He was a serious playmaker at Alabama.
he was the “alpha dog” of the draft
You mean, Nick Saban said that in January, last year and some of us took him seriously.
If you were gonna do that, him or Foster would have to play 2nd string. We need a cover linebacker.
Zach Vigil? Flash in the pan, or keeper?
Better tackler than Spaight ? Perhaps.
IMO, he’s a keeper, especially if Compton isn’t re-signed.
Put Compton on practice squad w some maple syrup . Will need him when lnjuries hit and he is pancaked…
Compton isn’t practice squad eligible… not even close
Well my sarcasm missed again….
I am wrong. Lol
Compton’s replacement
If you could only have one attribute, speed or thumper at ILB, which would be more valuable?
That depends on Dline and scheme
Get the thumper and put him on cocaine.
Depends… can the speed guy tackle?
That would be important, yes.
Hard to tell… he was solid this year. Would like to see him stay, though.
David Irving unlikely to get long-term deal from Cowboys this offseason
Thoughts?
Yep
I have no interest whatsoever in bringing in any more Cowboys retreads. They always suck for us. Hard pass
Right……. cause while we were wasting time with Lynden Trail, they weren’t.
He’s a RFA anyway which means he isn’t going anywhere, unless you’re proposing we give up a draft pick for this dude.
Last I checked, they hadn’t designated which though, 1,2, or 3
I would not give any draft pick to the Cowboys for this guy. I’d have thought we’d learned our lesson with Hatcher and Bowen
He’s something we haven’t managed to do here, a raw edge player with huge upside that paid off.
He’s developed in their system, not ours. We need to stop thinking guys who perform well in other systems will perform well in ours. The Cowboys run a 4-3 and we’ve already seen how DEs in their system struggle in ours. The guy was also suspended last season for a failed drug test. no way in hell i want to give up a draft pick for a guy who’s failed drug tests and plays in a totally different system
This is my point, “Cowboys retreads” is a bullshit definition of David Irving. Would I give up a 1st or 2nd for him? No. Would I give up a third for him if the price was right, maybe. Will the price be right? Probably not. To say he’s a puke retread is false.
You’d give up a 3rd round pick for a guy who has failed multiple drug tests and didn’t even play in the same base defense that we run? I would not. I think anyone the Cowboys are willing to let go to the Skins is a Cowboys retread, The only way we get him is if they don’t match our offer which means they are willing to let him walk to a division rival. I want no part of any player the Cowboys are willing to give us.
He was slotted to be a two gap 3 -4 guy outta the draft. He has off field issues sure, but he’s a really good football player. To say he sucks cause he’s a cowboy is bullshit. The pukes plucked him from the Chiefs practice squad and let him play. The talent is there. That’s all.
I’m not saying he sucks because he’s a Cowboy. I’m saying just because he plays well for the Cowboys doesn’t mean he’ll play well for us. How successful a player is has a lot to do with the system they’re in and the coaching they receive. I’m not interested in giving up draft value for a guy who didn’t develop in our system. We need to find guys in the draft, develop them in our system, and then re-sign them.
Yeah, cause we’re so good at that. We value draft picks more than our front office does. What the pukes did with Irving should be a lesson in what we should be doing with late round and UDFAs, exemption (Chase Routier)
Anthony Lanier could be a guy just like Irving for us. Our FO sucks balls IMO but that doesn’t mean we still shouldn’t build through the draft. It just means we aren’t likely to ever build a SB winner regardless of which path we choose to build with. Ultimately it will probably not be the Bruce and Doug show that gets us where we want to go, but that’s a whole other conversation
I’ve already thought that about Lanier, I was a big fan of what Lynden Trail “could be”, turns out the Texans DC was right when he called him stupid. Dallas isn’t letting him go anyway, I just support players that come on without the help of hype and can straighten out earlier “life fuck-ups”. I know exactly what that’s like.
So do I. I had a serious drinking problem in my teens through mid 20s. I’m lucky I have a good family that got me straightened out. Without good people around you it’s almost impossible to pull yourself out of that hole. I’m all for guys getting 2nd chances. I’d just rather they grow up on our team where we know how to deal with them from the start.
I respect that. I also wouldn’t enjoy handing Jerruh a glass of water if his throat was on fire, just looking for guys that want to dominate.
And I said “maybe”. You’re saying he’s a retread, that’s false, regardless of any other factors.
No thanks to divisional players. Just me. McNabb was the primo example…amongst many others.
That’s got fuck-all to do with what I said.
Sign him up. Cowboys as Redskins are the ultimate productions. Not. Wouldnt even look his way.
Kapri Bibbs. Flash in the pan, or legit back?
If we draft a RB in the first few rounds I don’t see him making the team, unless we plan to carry 4 RBs to start the season
Maybe we can get Mack Brown back once Cook returns. Be my agenda
I don’t see any point in getting Brown back. He’s no better than Bibbs. I can see us going for a legit upgrade at RB but it doesn’t make sense to bring in another JAG. We’ve had plenty of those
Better than fatRob…
I’d go along with that.
For what ? I guess he and Colt will light it up together . For fucks sake .
Ease up there, potty-mouth.
Better than lighting up the opposing secondary …and maybe he could help turn 3rd dwns into 1sts…
You couldn’t help it, eh?

Good question. Not sure about 1400 yard RB. (legjt)

Idiot.
Well he still has the mind of a child.
Isla Fisher is tiny woman hot.
Strawberry…… yummy
Amy Adams also, make me wanna have babies with ‘um.
So here is a question Zack Brown had a better 2016 then 2017 and he made the pro bowl and yet he got zippo offers in FA’s except for a 1 year deal from us. So now I’m supposed to believe that after coming off an injury he is going to get some big offer in FA’s?
Depends what “big” is. We may have offered him something like 4 mil a year and he thinks he can get 7-8. Cooley was saying most LBs at Brown’s level are only making around 4 mil a year so that’s probably what the Skins are offering. There aren’t any other good LBs on the market this year so who know, maybe Brown is right and he can get a good bit more.
Yeah well like I said he didn’t even get 4mil last year when he was better and not coming off an injury.
Best LB Skins have had in years…but he aint worth but an avg salary.. Shouldnt overpay. We can get a Dallas retread cheaper
LBs a dime a dozen for Skins. By all means shouldnt pay above avg for a backer that can actually tackle and avoids pancake blocks. Smh.
What’s the buy-in on the Kirk/Colt argument down to? I’ve got a brand-new nickel and a shiny dime….
Waste of time and $$ on both…
So, you stack the DL with disruptive playmakers. Get a strong LG replacement, plus a capable swing tackle. Re-sign Zach Brown.
If the D continues to gel. Then the offense will get more opportunities to put points on the board. Colt will be just fine.
Not unless we get a stud running back too. It’s more than just the defense we have to be able to move the ball without relying on Colt to throw it all the time.
Round 1 Pick 13: Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame (A)
Round 2 Pick 12: Harrison Phillips, DT, Stanford (B)
Round 3 Pick 14: Josey Jewell, ILB, Iowa (A)
Round 4 Pick 13: Tony Brown, CB, Alabama (A+)
Round 5 Pick 12: Poona Ford, DT, Texas (A)
Round 6 Pick 14: Mike White, QB, Western Kentucky (C-)
Round 7 Pick 13: Richie James, WR, Middle Tennessee (A+)
Round 7 Pick 23: Kamryn Pettway, RB, Auburn (A-)
Nelson and TWill would be a nasty combo on the left side of the line. So would Hernandez.
Nobody saw Case Keenum as a viable franchise QB either. He is. Just needs talent around him.
They all need talent. Even Rodgers and Brady
Those guys need a lot less talent.
There’s no doubt about that.
Sometimes guys don’t get a chance, which is what would have happened to Kirk had the RG3 situation not happened.
Colt can probably do an adequate job while he’s healthy, not as good as Kirk but decent. The problem is Colt goes down like a sack of bricks when he gets hit, it’s Griffinesque. He’ll be hurt before midseason so the rook better get ready.
AustinSkin kon, for now • 39 minutes ago
Colt and Kirk were neck-and-neck in preseason when Griffin went down. They opted to roll with Cousins.

Also, Colt actually WON the starting job in 2014 — outplaying both Cousins and RGIII — and only lost it due to injury. Despite that he was never given a chance to compete for the starting job.
I don’t see Colt as the future franchise QB for Washington. And he won’t be handed the starting position, he’ll have to earn it. If Kirk walks, I can easily see Colt doing a very capable job of moving the chains, and whomever is drafted had better dive into the playbook and learn the system.
I think he has the ability to be a decent starter in the league, but I don’t think he can stand up to the pounding of a full 16-game schedule.
Delusional , for so many obvious reasons . hard to believe peeps stick with this insane narrative .
Here we go again. The guy who refuses to acknowledge Colt’s strengths and what he brings to the team. Backed up by a Kirk groupie.
Yeah guy I know . You evaluated him in a preseason game . I’m a groupie of no man , but I do chose to live in reality and accept the things my eyes see and my brain tells me are common sense .
It’s 100% factual. Delusional is what you are when you deny reality, eh?
Kon,
if Colt is our QB and we pick up a couple wins I would argue that’s due to an improved defense and rushing attack more than an improved quarterback position play.
Yea. You could argue that. If the defense and running game suddenly start delivering wins.
Weird though that you’re already planning on determining the wins must be the result of nothing to do with the QB.
no it’s not weird, I was responding to your text below saying we might pick up a couple wins with Colt as quarterback
The key is to develop a the strongest possible draft candidate in the wings. But Colt will be just fine.
Your Texas Rose Colored Glasses have you seeing Colt in a different light than me. ☺
I don’t bleed burnt orange. I just get the opportunity to see most of their games.
And I’m realistic about the strengths & weaknesses of potential candidates.
Hard to see the Eagles keeping Foles at $7.6M as a back-up. But that’s a very attractive number for some team to trade for.
They gotta trade him anyway. The terms of his contract void on the 3rd year. It’s trade or see him walk.
Who the Chiefs trade Smith to, and for what, is as interesting as where Kirk ends up.
Alex versus Kirk. Who’s the better qb?
Kirk is the better QB, but Smith is the better football player.
Flip a coin
Thank you Will Ferrell for saying out loud that there’s too many damned musical opening monologues on SNL.
How Wobbly Is Our Democracy? https://www.nytimes.com/2018/01/27/opinion/sunday/democracy-polarization.html
That’s bullshit. There are no white christians “serving” in the nation’s capital.
Most people today, including self-proclaimed “christians”, don’t know what a christian is. What about christians of color? “Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight. Jesus loves all the children of the world…”
Using religion to gain political and economic power, to control a population and culture, is hypocrisy. What’s the difference between the “Church” and radical Islam?
Nothing stays pure, everything rots. It’s where you stand as an individual that matters.
I would say we need to be tolerant of opposing views even if we disagree a hundred percent we can be civil and find some common ground in the love for America but as long as both parties view each other as the enemy that’s the danger in my opinion
Well, it sounds like you’re doing your part.
I would say there are very few Christians or certainly very few people that practice being a Christian in general but the bigger point of the article is the polarization and the lack of respect for different opinion they become the enemy rather than just having different views. That’s the danger
What civilization has not fallen?
I’m fully behind separation of church and state.
Also, they make their own point by using their own ideology, or labeling), as an example….
One might argue that gaining political and economic power has ALWAYS been been the root goal of organized religion.
Sure, we create words and their definitions to suite our objectives. “We” meaning: those that hold power, or aspire to do so. “Religion”, “organized religion”.
And how is that an argument? Perhaps labeling it as a supporting opinion would “cast shade” upon you by your academic peers on the blog? Let’s pretend our math isn’t fucked up….
To those of you that are convinced that Cousins is gone I’d like to know from you who our next QB will be. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
Draft a QB and roll with Colt.
He’s already signed and, knows Jay’s system.
if Colt were all that he would be playing already he’s a backup for a reason.
He’s a backup because you don’t bench a guy who’s paid $20 million
Colt and Kirk were neck-and-neck in preseason when Griffin went down. They opted to roll with Cousins.
you truly believe that colt is as good as cousins?
They are 2 different quarterbacks. IMO,
– Colt has better maneuverability/escapability in the pocket
– Colt throws a much nicer fade pass. He can drop it in the bucket
– Has decent accuracy and nice touch on short/intermediate throws
– While he doesn’t have Cousins deep ball arm strength, he throws it with a better arc, allowing receivers to track the ball.
– He knows Jay’s system
Cousin’s is forever putting too much on the ball. Dude has real trouble with touch.
I believe there’s no drop off. Might even pick up a couple more wins. The only concern there is durability.
But back to your original question…I can see maybe snagging another veteran qb as an insurance policy while the rookie holds the clipboard. Colt though, is the way to go. He’s been in Jay’s system since 2014, has the support of his team mates and has a modest contract. It’s a winning formula!
Short of trading for A. Smith, it kind of depends on what the Vikes do. And of course, what k0n said below.
Happy Sunday!
Back at ya, 65!
Ty friend!
Regardless of what your politics are, Congressman Beto O’Rourke is running a surprisingly refreshing campaign for Senate against Ted Cruz. He set a goal to hold face-to-face Town Hall meetings in every one of Texas’s 254 counties. He’s well over 200 counties visited thus far. Every meeting is live-streamed, including interesting insights while he is on the road en route to destinations.
He talks about upcoming issues in the House, the pros & cons and where he stands on those issues. He takes questions from everyone, and handles every question respectfully, even if he doesn’t side with the opinion of the person asking the question.
While the outcome of the election is by no means certain, he is rapidly closing in on Ted Cruz, narrowing the gap to just 2 points. Has not taken a dime of PAC or Special interest money, and is outraising Cruz from individual donations.
I have never seen an individual that is fully engaged with all potential voters, whether red, blue, or non-voting. Today he is doing a 24-Hour live-stream event that started off with a 3-mile run with constituents, and will culminate with a midnight party with 4 bands.
So….Halliburton takes a hit?
Not sure what you mean. It does mean that he’s not bought-and-paid-for by Halliburton.
Which would be a hit.
Texas though. They can meet him, appreciate him, and like him. But, the moment they see that D next to his name…
And they won’t be able to say O’Rourke and not think Obama.
I’m with you. This is by no means a cakewalk, and he is definitely an underdog. But I can’t help but admire that he has made the decisions to drive into conservative strongholds, hold town halls, ask about their most pressing issues, and address those questions honestly.
Since it’s live-streamed, it’s interesting watching the body language in the crowd. A lot of tightly crossed arms in the beginning, but the body language relaxes during Q&A. By the end, folks are thanking him for showing up.
Typically, when a democrat’s star rises…the GOP machine goes into high gear. Got to wonder though, how much are they willing to put in to keep Cruz.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see them calculate to leave Cruz dangling and wait till the next Senate election to go hard after a sitting democrat.
Doesn’t hurt that he’s a 4th generation Texan, 6’4″ and looks like a Kennedy.
Locally, I’m a one issue guy. And though a federal rep has no vote in the state itself…I’m all about sending a pro-cannabis advocate to Congress.
On that issue, O’Rourke states that the Federal Government has spent over $1 Trillion waging a war on drugs. And it has gotten us nowhere. Drugs are as easily available as they have ever been.
Nonviolent offenders are in prison (many of them private for profit institutions) on marijuana possession charges. When they leave prison, their employment prospects are diminished because they have a criminal record. All because of weed.
He is a co-sponsor of bills to remove cannabis as a schedule one drug, and remove the prohibition on weed. Also to expunge criminal records for possession offenses.
The Jets make sense.
And me saying that has nothing to do with the tickle I would get if that’s where he lands.

I don’t care ware he goes as long as it’s not us wasting 30mil a year on him.

Wanna play Denver GM?
https://overthecap.com/calculator/denver-broncos/
Broncos 2018 FAs
If the buzz around him and his stock continues to rise, you should be preparing yourself to see Hernandez go to the team that routinely drafts OL in the first round.
The Broncos have/could have more room than meets the eye. The cap will go up ~$11M, they carry-over ~$11M, and several UFA’s went off the books = $31M total. Then say they release Talib + Anderson + Watson (RT) = ~$20M (inc. dead money). So that’s $51M. For 2018, they currently only have a paltry $400K in dead money.
The thing is…
In order to accommodate that guy’s contract demands, the Broncos would make themselves a considerably weaker team next year and, be another couple seasons of restocking to get back into the position of being a contender.
If they decide, ‘Hey, he’s going to need time to learn anyway. So lets do this now so this piece is in place in 2020….’
Still though, I believe that guy’s contract demands are just too damn high. Anyone who is anyone will see what he’s getting paid and expect titles right damn now.
Regardless of personal opinion of Kirk, if a team wants him, they’ll make room.
Making room by cutting half your team doesn’t make much sense but better some other team then us.
So they’ll have to cut half of their team? And you know this how?
^ They wouldn’t have too.
Ik
Who is going to replace all those guys their cutting to sign one guy and who is going to block for that guy as their o-line sucks.
By signing a vet, let’s say Kirk, they won’t need to draft a QB and can use their top picks on OL, CB, whatever. And lets say they DID free up $51M. Say they sign Kirk for $27M the first year = $24M. ~$4M for draft picks, and they still have $20M. I’m not saying it’s the way I’d go, I’m saying its possible and they aren’t in cap hell by any stretch.
The offensive line for Denver needs some help that’s true, however I remember when cousins replaced Griffin and all of a sudden our offensive line looked a lot better.
Several players on the Broncos were lobbying for Cousins. Most were on the defensive side of the ball. I think that if it came down to it, contracts would be restructured to make room for Cousins on the roster.
Denver has a strong defense, but the window of opportunity is closing. I could see a strong push for Cousins. They will roll out the red carpet for him, and it will be a hard offer to resist.

Will Hernandez
Kirk Cousins, Washington: At this point, he would be the Broncos’ No. 1 choice because he’s the proven, quality quarterback most likely to become available without strings.
He will turn 30 at the midway point of the preseason. In his three full seasons as Washington’s starting quarterback, Cousins has averaged 4,392 passing yards and 27 touchdowns against just 12 interceptions.
Statistically, he’s been a top 8 quarterback the past three years. His record has been a mediocre 24-24-1.
Cousins played the past two seasons on franchise-tag salaries of $19.95 million and $23.94 million. If Washington places a transition tag on him (which features a right-of-first-refusal) or allows him to walk away as an unrestricted free agent, it would take a multiyear contract in the neighborhood of $25 million to $30 million a year to sign him.
Don’t be startled by the $30 million a year possibility. If Cousins becomes available for bid, the Broncos are expected to receive competition from Arizona, the New York Jets and possibly Cleveland, Buffalo and Jacksonville.
I can see Broncos general manager John Elway leaning toward Cousins on his quarterback priority list. Cousins would not only be the quickest fix in elevating the Broncos to a playoff contender, the team could then use their No. 5 overall draft pick on a starter at another position.
Cousins, thus, would mean upgrades at two positions. And the Broncos wouldn’t have to compensate Washington with a top draft pick or proven player.
What’s that, his Obituary?
No, it’s ours lol…
Meh…
We wrote the book on die hard.
The Broncos don’t have the cap room to get in a bidding war for Cousins, and they still need to sign draft picks and upgrade their o-line. People write these fantasies without actually researching the teams financials.
Broncos draft Nelson or Payne, follow up with another OL pick. I think Elway wants to bust a move before that defense dissolves.

I missed most of the game. How did Falk look?
Didn’t play. He went to the funeral of his backup QB who killed himself.
No shit. Damn.

I think so. Or the week before.

I’m sure BA will tell us when some other team signs him away.
TLee short to Gallup in end zone.
Tanner Lee sucked badly.
He’s still sucking on my TV, lol
Benkert wasn’t very good either. The rest of them had good games.
Lauletta and White…look like they have potential. Allen not bad either. Lotta decent QBs in this class. Whether Day 1 starters or not. Skins should feel better about the prospects w or w/o KC
Tanner?!
Penny rockin’ a high-top fade.
Gallup reminds me a little of Garcon.
Lauleta = Big Ben
Nah, workingman’s Drew Brees
Joking. I wrote that after the play where he broke two tackles.
J. Allen could be a Big Ben, though.
What the fuck is Tanner Lee even doing here?
Nevermind, took Rudolph’s place, right?
Yeah, he’s awful.
Poor Mike…..
Nice hands catch by the TE.
Kyle Lauletta is ballin
Poona Cahoona!
Poona played well. Didn’t give up any ground. Got nice penetration on a handful of plays. Abused Hernadez on one play.
Nah, that wasn’t Hernandez’s fault. He was bailing on a screen.
5′ 11.5″ does not mean ⅝, jackass. It means ½

Nice TD drive by Josh Allen
The only thing worse than not finding that something that you tear the house up trying to find is, going out, replacing it…then, getting home and a short time later, stumbling on the piece you were originally trying to find.
Fortunately, I haven’t come to that point yet. Only place left to look though, is the frign attic. Which is stupid that this thing would be up there.
Bonus, I did find Mrs kon’s glass bong that I hid in the corner of a walk in that time her mother came for a visit. Nice piece.

Benkert was looking sharp until….
Benkert to Penny, nice play
I could see NE drafting White 2nd or 3rd round if he is there.
Note to Vance Joseph….No one wants to see the FG kicker. Let Allen throw it down field.

Mayfield was solid I think. His stature will keep him out of the top 10 I think, which could be good for the Skins
Hope so but I don’t see him making it past the Jets at 6. Either Denver will take or NYJ will.
?? I think the Browns clown him and then fire Hue mid season..unless some tag and trade/trade w some team
Skins had a sit down with White day 1. He’s having a good showing
Mike is moving up
Damn Mike…
Will Hernandez is the fuckin’ man.
B_C, I would think about moving up one or two spots if Mayfield was available. Not more than that.
Not budging.
We need every single draft pick. If they like him, and he’s there. Great. If not…go back to plan A….dline, dline, and more, dline.
We’ll talk. Tryna live stream and drive. 🙂

Do you think we’ll move up to take Mayfield?
Good God, no
We should not be moving up for ANYONE.
I agree, and D_C probably does also.
If he’s there at 13 and we don’t have Cousins… I’d pull the trigger.
Sure, just trying to figure out where the adversion to Mayfield and the diversion from more doable options is coming from.
Skins have a trade chip…if they can get KC to play. Especially if he wants to book. All kind of scenerios could play out…even w 3 teams in a deal. Not much to ‘think’ about til March tho looks like.
I wouldnt mind one bit if they did tho…

Buffalo has 2 first round picks, 21 and 22. Maybe a QB they like drops to 13 and we can move back to one of their spots and grab a few more picks. I don’t think they’re satisfied with Tyrod
Tyrod is horrible
Jive Turkey
watching Buffalo play the Jaguars in the playoffs was some of the worst quarterbacking I’ve ever seen at the NFL level
Josh Jackson is just fucking like him. Fuentes must drop the hammer, let it be done.
Or you give up a defensive sure thing at 13 to a needy team. Same principal.

Here is a critique from Matt Waldman that conflicts with your assessment.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwnILJbCT7o
Definitely doesn’t look like a guy you take at 13
No. Some of us have been trading back for an extra second and trying to take him late first or early second. His mind is there, but there’s work to do. What Quarterback is going at 13? Hmm…….. who’s trading up for Billy Baker the Kid? Seriously, who?
No way I would trade up for any QB in this class. A few of them may end up being good but they all have flaws and I’m not trading away significant draft value for any of them
Right, so what’s the big deal when peeps don’t fap Mayfield, see what I mean? It’s ridiculous. If Mayfield drops to 13, or Rosen, whatever… I think they pull the trigger. It’s more logical to look at less hyped projects that may spark Jay’s interest.
If one of those guys drops I could certainly see us taking them and wouldn’t mind. Just don’t want to move up to get one. I agree about focusing more on the 2nd to 3rd round guys. That may be our sweet spot.
Whether we like it or not.
Well, he’s only looking at TWO plays, and in the first one I’m not sure I buy that Rudolph’s doing what Waldman imputes to him. He’s looking to the left when both receivers are over there.
Looks left (short) Safeties shift outside….Bomb across the middle. What’s the problem?
Happy Saturday!
Hpy Hpy
Watching Lamar Jackson highlights – when he throws the ball, it looks like a Sonny Jurgenson throw. The ball kinda glides out over the field without any real sense of urgency to it.
Best comp I’ve seen for him is Michael Vick. Similar running ability and they both seem to have the ability to drive the ball 20 yds. with the flick of a wrist.
He has a very good set. His feet are rarely too wide.
No, his feet or often too close together.
Sure.
“Throws with excessively narrow base and stiff front side.”
-Lance Zierlein
Only thing I’ve seen that’s bad is when he tries to throw before he gets set.
Crazy…but not so sure he gets drafted. Maybe Seattle as a late pick or UDFA. Not sure who’s scheme he fits well into.
Running errands today. Hitting the bank to grab some cashiers checks to send to Maryland. Grocery store, baby store. More prep for the big move. Gonna hit Canton on the way over.
Good luck on your move… sounds like a good deal
Thanks bud – good luck on yours, too! When are you guys moving? Sometime in the spring?
Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma St., 6’4”, 235 lbs. Games watched: Pitt, Oklahoma, Texas. Plays in pure spread O/shotgun. Very accurate. Good mechanics and relatively compact release. Plenty of arm strength and good touch at all levels. Tends to lock on receivers – never seems to look off defenders. Does not appear to go through progressions, although that’s in large part due to offense. Doesn’t move especially well in the pocket and offers very little in the way of off-schedule throwing or running.
-D_C
Bullshit, reads defense well.
Okay. I guess it’s just that 90% of the time his first read is the best read.
Yep
I disagree on his arm strength. When he makes throws towards the sidelines the ball tends to float on him. I actually think he moves pretty well in the pocket but certainly doesn’t like to get outside of it. I’d take him in the 2nd, not interested at 13
Meh, he doesn’t have a cannon for an arm but I think it’s comparable to Cousins’. Plenty good enough.
I guess my comp for him would be Sam Bradford. Not as talented but without the injury concerns.
Sounds like a 2nd round pick
Yeah, I’d say late 1st, early 2nd.
He throws high. Will need tall Wrs
Yea, his WRs at OK State were REALLY good. That jumps out when watching his tape. Washington is a beast and I think Ateman will be a legit NFL WR as well
Sunshine and 60 degrees today ! Try and take advantage of it . Gutters need cleaning , among about a dozen other things .
Enjoy your day .

Gotta do some clothes shopping. Down 20lbs. to 215 and my pants and belts just aren’t working any more.
End of an era. My wife’s great uncle Phil Tellez passed away at 91 yesterday. His wife, Anita founded the small chain of Anita’s restaurants in NoVA. I believe she had 6 restaurants. She used a central kitchen for quality control, and shipped the meals to all of her locations.
Anita was a fireball. Probably 4’9″, but her hair made her her 5’6″. I remember meeting her when my wife and I announced our engagement. Stopped by her restaurant in Chantilly, and ordered some take out. She gave me a huge hug and sent me home with my take out , plus two huge boxes of food. Gave us a huge check as a wedding present.
She came from humble roots in New Mexico, but drove around in a Rolls Royce, joking that she became a millionaire selling the same food she was embarrassed to eat as a kid (beans and rice). She passed away a few years ago, and now her husband followed her.
I loved getting food from Anita’s and I would often order up breakfast burritos when I had client meetings in NoVa.
I’ve had dozens of Anita’s ‘bean burrito on a platter with red chili sauce’ out of the Vienna location. Really good tex-mex, very consistent.
RIP
Sorry for your family’s loss
91 is a great run
Yeah, Phil was one of eleven children. Only two left. A bit of sadness in the family.
Gotta love that hair, though.

Sounds like a firecracker. RIP
Wife out of town. My plan is to do some brewery hopping check out places I don’t normally go too. Starting with Lost Rhino.
Dilly Dilly
The only problem. No metro by these breweries in NoVA
I wonder if some of their hops comes from Scottsville?
NPI could go…. y’all could hit Clyde’s while you’re out there.
Clydes, low rent for my tastes. Only go there when my buddies behind bar
But Cludes is cool right?
Too many prudes at Cludes.
Hard to be prudish at a dumpster behind Clydes
Right.
I love the use of the code word “brewery” for whore house
Then you’d love the Woody stout.
I’m not a big fan of Rudolph. His accuracy breaks down significantly with the slightest pressure and he has mediocre arm strength. I also think his deep ball ability is overrated, he underthrows it a lot. That being said I like him waaaaaay better than Allen. Allen is terrible.
About sums it up. Allen could be the darkhorse out of them all. He does have some skills
I would never draft a QB with poor accuracy, which Allen has
Same. If the accurate guy not there/cant get I’d pass. Next year could be the time.
Can’t teach accurate passing, touch
Browns break the bank for Cousins and then cut a deal that enables them to take Mason Rudolph late in the first round so he can compete with DK for a few years.
Book it because it’s just such a Browns move.
They have Green Bays scouts and KCs GM. I dont look for any more blunders from the Browns. If Hue isnt .500 or better by midseason he will be fired. Weakest link left ?
Not sure if Rudolph gets taken early by a team fearing out on missing the chance to draft him…but I like him a lot as a prospect and he did grow up a Redskins fan down there in South Carolina.
“If we apply the Bill Parcells criteria for quarterback prospect evaluation, Rudolph passes the test with flying colors. Parcells wanted his quarterback prospects to be: 1) a 3-year starter; 2) a senior; 3) a graduate; 4) a 30-game starter; 5) a 23-game winner; 6) a 60+% completion rate passer; with 7) a 2:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
Of the top 11 quarterback prospects by NDS Scouting (those with a fifth round or better grade), Rudolph is joined by Mayfield, Falk, and Ohio State’s J.T. Barrett as the only four that meet all seven points. White meets six (he wasn’t a 23-game winner) and no other quarterback meets more than four.”
Yea I hear ya. Reminds me of Andy Dalton. The good thing is he is not. Kinda on the fence w he and Allen. ? Rudolph has a nice completion % at least.
Luke Falk…
…that is all
On this day in 1992: #Redskins defeat the Bills 37-24 in Super Bowl XXVI. #HTTR
I remember watching that game at a bar in Greensboro, NC. A hottie, who was a huge Bills fan got in my face, yelling “We’re gonna kick your ass!” I respoded, “You wanna bet on that? I’ll give you 10 points.” She jumped on the bet and laughed like she had just stolen candy from a baby.
She wasn’t so happy after the game.
Yes. I had a small gathering of diehards at my near future wifes house that day. I wore those 80s Redskins parachute pants. God Awful ! Loved them tho ! We danced in the street after the game. Lol. Fools.
Hammer, please don’t hurt ‘um….
If she was a hottie, perhaps the bet could have been better exploited. Probably more of a Jim Kelly fan than a Bills fan.
I had a girlfriend at the time.
but was she there? 🙂 We’re all allowed youthful mistakes.
I never had that instinct. One at a time.
And yeah, she was there, too.
I didn’t with the good ones, the ones I respected. The “good sex” ones that I lacked a intellectual connection with however, often got cheated on.
If she was there, even better.
Unless he was tapping the topless bar well in Greensboro, long odds on that…..but I can dig it.
Hard to imagine Kirk winning either game as QB w Jax or Minny ‘with all the pieces’ last weekend imo. Keenum is looking at around 21 -22 mil for ’18. Not sure why peeps think KC should be 6+ mil a year more. I dont see the discrepancy in value.
One last look at Mayfield today. Just hope the Giants pass. Better he in the AFC if not a Redskin.
Jets
Hahahaha! Beautiful
Possible. Giants. Browns. Denver. Trade city by Bruce and Doug…
So to clear things up Bruce does have say in picks according to WaPo post. He likes those shiny QBs…Doug and Jay (by now) should know accuracy and it factor.
Justice
flounder, let’s just move on and look towards the future. You don’t think much of Kirk anyway, if he signs, we can argue the deal. IMO, going forward…. KIRK SCHMIRK, FUCK THAT GUY.
I saw some talk yesterday about Kirk only being offered a 3 year deal and that’s why he didn’t want to negotiate. I had to laugh at that line of thinking since a 3 year deal would be much better for an NFL QB than a 5 year deal. He would hit FA’s 2 years earlier and be able to sign another big contract and since all NFL contracts are 3 year deals disguised as 5 or 6 year deals for cap purposes the length of the contract really means nothing. NFL contracts have no guaranteed money past the 3rd year, Staffords deal pays him all 92mil of his guaranteed money in the 1st 3 years in the 4th year they will be able to cut him or renegotiate to lower the cap hit. Kirks contract would have been no different then Staffords except for the money totals. It’s also laughable to think the offer was a slap in the face considering Kirk really hasn’t won anything and comes up small in big games.
The reason kirks agent didn’t counter the offer he got is because Kirk want to be a free agent and that’s all folks.
He was only really offered 2 years guaranteed. What’s laughable is the fact that you present your opinion of what a “good” deal is, as fact.
He was offered a 3 year deal with 53mil at signing and 70mil in total guarantees. So he would have gotten all that money no matter the length of the contract and would have been a FA again to negotiate another contract so that is a good thing. That is a great deal for a guy who can’t seem to win a game that matters.
Still laughable that you decide what a great deal is for a player. You can’t be taken seriously because you reference your own bias while efforting to say what’s good for Kurt.
But it’s not what he [Kirk Cousins] said he [Kirk Cousins] wanted. He [Kirk Cousins] said he wanted a guarantee of years, BUT because the league isn’t set up that way, he [Kirk Cousins] would rather take 1 year deals, as that is (in his mind) the next best thing.
I mean, the fuckin’ guy said it, what more do you have to go on, besides opinion, than the man’s own words?
Scot McC started all that. Snowballed the next year w Bruce. He wasnt going to offer top dollar. …’ten years from now its gonna be how many conference championships you win how many SBs did you win…not about if you made 50 or 60 mil..’ -McC.
Water way under the bridge…
You have to compare what you have, when it comes to who should start, until you get someone better. Paying Foster like only 10% of linebackers could take his spot would be bad business. 30% of linebackers could probably take his spot. Yet he’s a starter for the Redskins.
Mason Foster’s deal is only 2 years and can be worth up to 7mil?
Seems cheap for a guy who should start.
Is this implied as a “respawn” token?
Hogs Haven @HogsHaven 6m6 minutes ago
DeShon Elliott is the all-around safety the Redskins should be looking at in this draft https://www.hogshaven.com/2018/1/27/16934932/deshon-elliott-is-the-all-around-safety-the-redskins-should-be-looking-at-in-this-draft?utm_campaign=hogshaven&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter …
Good middle-round pickup. Good range, ball-hawk
Like fifth round? Teams guy?
4th-5th round.
Thanks
6 INTs this season, eh.
Yeah, I’m up for that. See what Gray can do with him. Sounds like he’s got great instincts.
How fast is he?
How did I know without looking that he’s a Longhorn?
I’m still partial to rolling with Colt. Finding a competent back up. And going crazy on the defense in the draft. Plus, snag an OL pick somewhere.
That’s what I’m thinking — at least if we can’t get Darnold, Rosen, or Mayfield at 13.
If you take a QB at 13 then he is not a backup and all those guys will be gone before pick 13.
They shouldn’t start right away, anyway. Jay’s scheme….
That’s where I am. Would like to take Mason Rudolph and groom him. Love Mayfield, but I see him as a distraction. The guy who will want to start from day 1, and be a squeaky wheel until he gets his way.
Imagine the smack talk between Colt McCoy (Longhorn) and Baker Mayfield (Sooner)
Yeah, I just don’t know about that dude. Lot’s to like, lot’s that could fail.
Rudolph is super smart.
I would like to get Rudolph but with our 2nd pick not 1st pick.
Your score is: 17872 (GRADE: B-)
Your Picks:
Round 1 Pick 32 (N.E.): Sony Michel, RB, Georgia (B)
Round 2 Pick 12: Harrison Phillips, DT, Stanford (B)
Round 2 Pick 32 (N.E.): Will Hernandez, OG, Texas-El Paso (A)
Round 3 Pick 14: Josey Jewell, ILB, Iowa (A)
Round 4 Pick 13: Chase Litton, QB, Marshall (A+)
Round 5 Pick 12: B.J. Hill, DT, North Carolina State (B)
Round 6 Pick 14: Terrell Edmunds, SS, Virginia Tech (A+)
Round 7 Pick 13: Greg Stroman, CB, Virginia Tech (A+)
Round 7 Pick 23: Desmond Harrison, OT, West Georgia (B-)
Not bad!
-Colt
Meh…. Slow moving opinions always finish a few weeks late, regardless of the spit-shine.
In the new NDT Scouting mock, the Redskins take Mason Rudolph at 13. I need to start looking at this guy as it appears Mayfield will be gone by 13.
The other interesting thing is that he has all the best DTs coming off the board in picks 19 – 22: Vea, Hurst, Payne, Bryan, one after the other.
Haha, contemplating infidelity…
Watch his Boileroom tape.
Lotta teams going QB.
Someone’s up and lost his leverage.
Somebody will still pay for a “known” QB.
That someone is Denver
Yeah, there’s that.
All kinds of foggy here this am.

There’s that phenomenon again……
Yep, same here. Dense fog.
The interview with Dougie Williams seems to confirm he’s the actual GM. He’s scouting pros and college. He’s the guy…sort of
Sort of being the operative phrase. They always say that personnel decisions are made collectively, but at some point one person has to make the call and we still don’t know who that person is. Whoever breaks the tie is the GM.
Actually not the case just because a guy breaks an occasional tie doesn’t mean he is making all the decisions. In Gibbs 1 JKC broke the ties doesn’t mean he was the GM.
BA is the big boss but Williams and Gruden will be picking the players.
That’s not what the article says. According to Williams they make the decisions collectively. What he won’t say is how much weight everyone’s opinion has, or who makes the ultimate decisions.
And yeah, if JKC was making ultimate personnel decisions he was effectively acting as the GM in those instances.
Or the guy that the GM works for.
Den of Thieves…bad ash movie. Story line isn’t unique but the artillery is fn legit. Gerard Butlers character is a POS but you sorta have to be like that in some police outfits. Solid B
Just when I was beginning to unlearn terms like, bad ash and fn.

Kirk looked down into Hope’s sad eyes
And said, “Say a prayer for me.”
Hope threw his arms around him,
Whispered, “God will keep us free.”
They could hear the rushers comin’,
He said, “This is my last snap.
If they take me out to Cleveland,
I won’t win another game.”
There were seven Spanish angels at the altar of the sun.
They were prayin’ for the lovers in the valley of the pun.
When the whistle blew and the play stopped.,
There was thunder from the throne,
And seven Spanish angels took another angel home.
Hope reached down and picked the football up
That lay loosely in his hand.
He said, “Father, please forgive me;
I can’t make it without my man.”
And he knew the clock had run out,
And he knew he couldn’t win,
But his final prayer was answered
When the rushers came again.
There were seven Spanish angels at the altar of the sun.
They were prayin’ for the lovers in the valley of the pun.
When the whistle blew and the play stopped.,
There was thunder from the throne,
And seven Spanish angels took another angel home.
Chuck. Good movie
Alright… Hostiles was good. Not great. Pretty slow overall but Christian Bale was actually perfect for a western.

I didn’t want to spoil it for anyone else though by naming the movie.
I remember, me and a buddy footed it to the theater. Double timed it to get there on time. On the way back we snagged a grocery cart and rode that thing downhill till we got back to the neighborhood.
We laugh about it now, but when that movie came out, well…
It’s physically impossible to know everything.
The brain required would be bigger than the known universe. Although of course, it would collapse into a singularity well before even being the size of a small solar system.
Now, it is possible to forget a ton of shit and keep on learning. But then, that eliminates knowing everything.
There’s also the displacement theory…..
Inside our skull, there’s a quantum level connection that runs from our brain to an as yet to be determined individual in a realm just outside the quantum phase with our own universe.
That individual sees your brain as so many files, and spends day after day, year after year, deleting useless information.
Define “useless” information.
Anything that isn’t indulgent
I’m of the opinion that some peeps get a bum disk cleaner that deletes common sense files.
Not true! That individual deletes both useful and useless information. Sometimes arbitrarily, it seems. I wish more useless information was deleted and more useful shit kept!
It’s most annoying when the delete happens right as you’re accessing the thought and the whole thing disappears in a blink.
They do take notice though and restore the information back to you. That’s why days later, that thought suddenly out of nowhere comes to you.
Fuckin’ pothead

Some poor, rare exotic breed of tree in the jungles of the Philippines gave its life so I could have a set of wood plates. Made all the more precious on account of being crafted with the delicate hands of forced child labor.
So what does she who shall not be named for fear of reprisal do? She takes out one of these plates, puts a sammich on it, then cut the sammich in half with a serrated knife.

Now, I gotta sand the plate. And when I’m done…I’m hiding them!

“Players on both the North and South teams who’d played against Mayfield gushed about his accuracy and his slippery moves in the pocket. During Senior Bowl media day on Tuesday, Auburn safety Tray Matthews recalled a critical play in the 2017 Sugar Bowl when Mayfield got an audible from the sideline, returned to his shotgun posture, looked across at the defense and shouted “I’m bout to get this first down!”
“Then he got the first down,” Matthews says.
“I think it was actually fourth down,” Mayfield says with a laugh.”
Is this how your rg3 infatuation started as well? I wasn’t here.
Nah, I actually hated the pick when we made it. It wasn’t until he started putting together a bunch of great games that he stole my heart.

Yeah I have passed by it several times.
I am loathe to admit I stayed up to about 4am when I binge watched that over Thanksgiving break
I was up past 1am watching the other night. Sat there for a minute at the end of episode four calculating what the time would and how drag ass tired I’d be if I finished the remaining three.
Good thing I decided to finish it up later. That day was long. Hellz, I don’t even remember it really.

Gen X is a very small part of congress I believe. I think that most studies show they are the least politically aware/active generation of any today.
Well that backfired……..⅓ of it anyway.
Also Gen Z, not sure what we are gonna do with them.
send em to war, create the Next Greatest Generation
We don’t go to war anymore, we have robots for that.
Send them to mining camps on the moon, ect.
too expensive. it’s either healthcare OR robot war. does GenZ want healthcare or do they want to man those trenches?
“We want healthcare!”

Well, one or two yes.
I know of a bunch.
Joe Rogan had a dude (military) and a doc on talking about that
they’re really getting there now. it’s all about manipulation of all (not just one or none) the major hormones. believe it or not, war can literally gut punch the testosterone out of you. and testosterone isn’t adrenaline. testosterone gives man a feeling of well being and secure confidence and low T = depression. I’ll see if I can find it. I have an in law that is in the military who suffers from depression, but never been in combat per se. But that doesn’t seem to matter. It appears the bigger psychological effect comes from FEAR of the unknown combat. Is it coming? Anyway, I’ve wanted to share that podcast with him, but I don’t know yet how to approach it given that’s an awkward comment when you see someone for the first time in like two – three years (how often we catch up).

Gen Z is eating tide pods?
“Millennials (also known as Generation Y) are the generational demographic cohort following Generation X. There are no precise dates for when this cohort starts or ends; demographers and researchers typically use the early 1980s as starting birth years and the mid-1990s to early 2000s as ending birth years.”
Um… the kids eating Tide Pods are early teenagers to college kids…
Those are millenials.
it’s a gray area.
xxx
But NOT with Tide! Tide will keep those whites white and colors bright!
early teens would be born after 2000. The freshman class of college was now born in 1999/98. And doing some reading, I don’t see any reports of teens actually eating tide pods. It seems it stems from a social media hoax.
Though lots of stories of elementary school age kids doing it.
Also do not know that Gronk was the spokesman for the “don’t eat tide pods” campaign… because when I think, smart guy not telling kids to eat things, I think of that face.

The new border wall will be 100% tank resistant!

Get busy living or get busy dying, cause Dyin’ ain’t much of a living, boy
— Sir Quote Mash-Up
ISIS tanks coming across the border from Mexico would make things a lot simpler for some folks, be careful what you wish for.
How many States do you think we could make out of Mexico? 20?
5-6 max
population is under 130M
Yeah, really big ones.
you don’t want the to have more then 10-12 senators as a block
Indeed.
it’d be like joining a new conference in college athletics, they wouldn’t have full rights and privileges right away, they’d get those over time.
but pay 100% of their taxes right away
and they would get about 27% of the 435 representatives
You could divide them up based on:
Oil.
Tourism/Hot chicks
Mexico City
Weed.
I mean, Mexico City… that makeover is going to make revitalizing Detroit look like child’s play, but American money is bound to pour into it. And we’ll bulldoze the slums to make retirement communities, parks and national wildlife preserves and other areas; designate all the takers as ISIS, and deport them to Syria. Mexico = flipped. But we ain’t sellin.
What about livestock?
My FA picks are Luke Joeckel and Carlos Hyde. Unfortunately, they can’t be on the field at the same time.
Living isn’t, anyone can agree that organisms, even if a single cell or a stink beetle.
Intelligent life is where it’s subjective, even among those of voting age.
actually
is someone who is brain dead “living”?
when is a multi-cellular thing dead… when all the cells are dead?
is a virus alive or a machine, or is it sometimes alive and sometimes not?
there’s actually quite a bit of subjectivity in a room of scientists.
Is Pluto a planet?
“Science” is the study of something
but there is quite a bit of debate in how something is studied and not every field uses the same bar for deciding whether something is “significant” when the science must be statistically/probability based. sometimes an R2 or 0.90 is great, others you need 0.999. or different alphas (probability thresholds that you measure against to accept or reject a statement or hypothesis)
but yes, somethings are more Risk Assessment (Science) vs Risk Management (Subjective Management: Politicians and other deciderers)
Yes
alive (unless it’s dead)
Fuck Pluto.
This guy actually won election as Lt. Governor. The scare tactic? ISIS tanks coming across the border from Mexico. LOL

I sure hope the wall is going to be tank proof!
are the tanks drone proof?
our militia has a stockpile of FGM-148 Javelins, so tanks are mucho no problemo, senior
— Local Redneck
I don’t see any tanks crossing into Mexico .
Friday fun fact: Walter is going to be very upset that he missed the science debate laugh out loud.
There is no debate… science is science…
Unless it’s climate change science which is faulty computer modeling that has been revised too many times and yet has almost always been wrong…
You understand that it’s a lot more than that, right?

summary: scouting fa already done so they can now move on to draft
===================================================
I read it as the UDFA scouting is done and they are concentrating on the prospective draft picks
different scouts for the Pro FA’s
Alex Santos and Richard Mann
Kyle Smith and Tim Gribble are the leads on the college side of things
How do you scout UDFAs before you know who’s going to be UD?
You can probably guess on a good number of them.
No doubt.
they have a list of guys they have graded as UDFA and probably have it prioritized as to who they want to sign IF available
if a guy on their UDFA list is drafted you don’t get to try and sign him
Time saving move, kind of smart actually
that sounds right on second reading
the “free” board and NFL free agent board are really the projected UDFAs, which prob could have been made more clear in the article, they are assessing the “draftable” guys now
yes your Pro Free Agent board has to be done by March 7 or so
Yeah, I read it as scouting of veteran FAs.
I won’t give away all the details
Dad was in charge of getting a new Navy base built back in the 70’s after EPA came along
EPA found some bug there and objected to the base being built
this went on for almost a year
Both sides went back with their experts to prove each other wrong
Could not find any trace of the buggers
Seems the state spraying their adjacent land for mosquito larve
accidentally let the malathion drift over the Navy land and killed all those critters too
Navy based was completed about 24 months later
“accidentally”
the wind that day was higher than it was supposed to be for aerial spraying
the EPA guy actually accused my Dad of collusion but Dad was very straight-laced about following rules so I know he had nothing to so with that
the rules thing is where we went head-to-head growing up
rules to me were more like guidelines…
Look, in the real world I don’t give a shit what you are or what you want to be. If you show up to my house for a dinner party hopping on one leg, painted green, and legitimately feel like you are Nebular the on legged Morphon from the planet Cryon then that’s what I’ll call you and we can move on to having a good time. I’m not going to require that you accept my moral code or beliefs, I’m not going to ask the government to tax you out of your own actions or beliefs, and as long as you respect me I’ll do the same to you. I’m not going to require you to believe in God. I’m not going to ask you to “act your age” or dress like a man… but if your set of beliefs is forced on me be government edict or tax structure… I’m not going to be happy about it.
To Scamp and Kelly’s debate:
1) Whether an organism is living or not is a question of science;
2) Whether to kill/abort that life is a moral question (even the killing of a newborn child is a moral question, though the nearly unanimous consensus is that it would be wrong).
Eh. I think we should wait till they are five or so to see if they are worth keeping around. Usually by 5 we can tell if a kids gonna be a problem.
FINALLY something we can agree on
I dunno, they parents had the kid, they should be able to kill it up until age 18
Well as my mom annoyingly like to say, once you have a kid you’re their parent till the day you die.
You missed my point…
but the argument doesn’t matter at this point
https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/956972551367925760
Sick move
I hope we can re-sign him.
Agreed
The prospect of having to remove that Redskins tattoo should be incentive enough to re-sign.
What a dumbass
Kimberly over at TI actually wrote an informative article on the Redskins’ draft process:

Bullshit
Shocked the shit outta me.
Stop waving that fuckin’ bait around, I’m on the wagon.

Good news, the Environmental Protection Agency is rolling back some rules put in place in 1995 that were designed to protect the environment. Big win for less government. Also a big win for folks hoping to speed up the global warming process (the ice cube tray and air conditioner industries, I imagine).
Ice cube tray? Bro……buy a new refrigerator when you get to Maryland.
Ice Cube tray – does that mean like 3 ice cubes?
— Millennials everywhere
Ice Cube’s grandson
We only have artisan ice cubes.

Can they grow ironic beards?
They are grown on ironic beards. We take a beard, soak it in water and then flash-freeze it. to develop complex ice crystals.
SWEET!!! Which regulations are those?
Sweet? The increased lead in your drinking water will be sweet. Mercury and arsenic though, not so much.
I LOVE Mercury… it’s my favorite planet!
if you’re not filtering your water whole-house (cept maybe the hose bibs), I don’t know what to tell you
if you’ve not done consistent monitoring of radon in your house, I don’t know what to tell you (consistent radon monitor is $150, it takes a long time to eval your house across seasons, but once you’re done, sell it/gift it to your neighbor)
if you haven’t explored putting in a doohicky that lets in a % of (usually 10-30%) fresh air via your HVAC system, I don’t know what to tell you
They’re redefining what constitutes a “major source” of pollution, which will result in fewer pollution-generating sites to be regulated.
Global worming is a myth.

I don’t care if my kids school water is poisoned, as long as there weren’t any laws that required it to be clean.

I tend not to live in places with heavy industrial footprints.
I hope there aren’t any industries between your water source and the places you live and work when you get to SC.
Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas aren’t overly industrial.
As for me – I give a fuck about the millions of people who do live and work in places where mining, drilling, fracking, etc impacts their lives.
The you are stupid. #thintheherd
Not stupid, my friend, just raised with different values.
You mean whatever values happen to suit you at the particular moment.
I think between the two of us, you are the one arguing that ones values should be whatever happens to suit them, no?
Pollution doesn’t affect you personally, so screw the rest, thin the herd, right?
Let me ask you this Kel… do you believe in science? Do you believe that science should be believed?
Science isn’t a matter of beliefs. That’s what makes it science.
So that’s a yes.
Do you believe that biology is a science?
Again, science is not a matter of beliefs. You’re asking me if I believe that 2+2=4. It’s not a belief.
But if biology says someone is a man… that’s subject to the way they feel right?
Ha…. you’re about to venture into territory that you don’t want to get into. If you want to enter into a debate with me about the biochemistry of gender identity and the impact of hormonal percentages on a person’s behavior relative to the social constructs of gender – OR if you want to get into the anatomical definitions of man vs woman and the validity thereof, I’m happy to walk down that path with you, but unless you’ve got a background in that field, I don’t think it’s going to benefit either of us.
It’s really very simple… certain chromosomes and anatomy say whether you are a man or a women… you choose to ignore science when it suits the way you or your hormone level or whatever make you FEEL. It’s simple… your moral code is based on your whims and feelings… science is solid except when it doesn’t suit you.
A) It is not that simple
B) You don’t know what you’re talking about
I like you, and I respect you enough to not try to tell you about landscaping or construction. I would hope you would not presume to try to explain gender science to me.
I think you’ve made my point for me… you can try to justify it anyway you want but science says you are wrong.
This has nothing to do with respect. Accusing me of being raised with subpar values while your own are based on whims doesn’t fly with me. My values aren’t government or whim based as yours appear to be. I don;t ask the government to stand up for my values. I defend my own and raise my children with them. I don’t expect the government to do it for me.
I said absolutely nothing about subpar values, I said different values, and I don’t think I was wrong.
The values I was raised with have led me to have different political leanings than you have. I do think that the role of government is to protect it’s people – not just through the military, which most of the “less government” folks seem to have no problem with, but also through education, healthcare and protection against other threats like companies polluting the environment.
I’m not saying my values are better than your values, or that my political view is better than your view, I’m saying that they are different. If you are able to live off the grid and stop utilizing all of the things the government provides for you, then more power to you, I have no problem with that.
Please don’t think me so dense that I didn’t catch your insinuation. I am well aware of what you meant.
Fine, define my intentions for me and get upset about them. I’m gonna feed my kid.
I’m not upset at all. Not even a little
one is sex, which is biological
one is gender, which is not the same thing, though not completely independent
one is far more concrete than the other, however, as if we were living in a time and place of scarcity, the more concrete things hold while others disappear. things like some kinds of allergies, ailments, psychologies are all too insignificant to deal with when you’re sharpening a tool to kill those intruders because there’s only enough clean water and game in this valley for one clan.
If biology says a fetus is a living thing… that’s subject to the way a women feels right?
There is no question that a fetus is a living thing. The debate is to the rights of a fetus, which isn’t a scientific debate.
Murder is the taking of a life against it’s will. Abortion is murder by definition… again, science and it’s outcome are perfect until it interferes with your feelings.
Murder is a legal definition. Abortion is a legal definition. Neither of these concepts are scientific.
Sure it is… if the argument was “can we murder babies” it would be a slam dunk. Abortionists are trying to use science to say “this isn’t really a living thing yet because it doesn’t live on its own or feel pain.”
Science is Theory, until it’s proven Law
… and after that it’s subject to our whims
-Liberals
Theory/law is more is more of a continuum than a clear distinction. Even “laws” are subject to revision.
Thanks for helping 🙂
why wouldn’t you at least drink and shower with filtered water? even clean water has to go through well, sometimes an extremely poor distribution network. it’s just a cost of living in a modern world. the primary drinking water treatment is usually fine, but we’re now at like being able to filter a million gallons at your home tap for like $800. That’s clean and softened water. Replace the filters every 6-10 years.
You shouldn’t do that Mike. You should place your faith in the government and that they will make sure your drinking water is safe for you… right Flint?
even then, it’s so cheap now, and most cities and jurisdiction cannot afford anything over the most basic of water treatment, and that’s not going to remove a lot of the stuff that we don’t know much about. it’s just good risk management for your family
Yes. It is.
Respectfully disagree.
-Science
Global warming, brought to you by the same group of people who in the 1970s said we were headed towards a new ice age.
It’s all a giant con per perpetuated by the environmental industry for the purpose of making billions of dollars.
Fun fact, the PR firm that actually came up with the Anti-Global warming movement was the same PR firm who back int he 50’s/60’s was claiming that smoking doesn’t cause cancer. They even used the same scientific research groups to prove their case.
the Nuclear Regulatory Commission?
Here’ a good article that talks about how climate science was somewhat unsettled at the time and how the media jumped on a couple of studies that were by no means indicative of the general consensus of climate
scientists:
https://arstechnica.com/science/2016/06/that-70s-myth-did-climate-science-really-call-for-a-coming-ice-age/
I love industry not having to worry about accountability while they poison us. Nothing else like it in the whole world.
it’s an “externality”
Sounds like a win for business. Glad to hear it.
I’m not surprised. You do realize that without clean air and drinking water, business is useless, yes?
My position, generally, is that the government has very dramatically over-regulated everything, particularly the environment. I support a clean environment and drinking water, but I also think, for example, that the existence and use of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline is more important, and contributes more to this country, than does protecting the rights of the yellow-throated caterpillar and some rare grass in the middle of nowhere.
pipeline is probably cleaner and less intrusive than a rail line
Love me some yellow-throated caterpillar, used to find them some bitches laying around everywhere, eat them up like gummy bears. Can’t hardly find them things no more, and I think it’s a goddamn shame. – Canadian two-billed woolyneck woodpecker
While I generally agree with this, many small impacts on the environment can have much larger impacts on the environment over time (as comically pointed out by BC in his post below).
This is rather benign and quite logical, in my opinion, actually, it’s a pretty bogus attack on the EPA and the admin IMO.
“The Clean Air Act defines a “major source” as a one that emits, or has the potential to emit, 10 tons per year of any hazardous air pollutant, or 25 tons per year or more of any combination of hazardous air pollutants. Sources with emissions below this threshold are classified as “area sources.” Different control standards apply to the source depending on whether or not it is classified as a “major source” or an “area source.”
In a 1995 memo, EPA established a “once in always in” policy that determined that any facility subject to major source standards would always remain subject to those standards, even if production processes changed or controls were implemented that eliminated or permanently reduced that facility’s potential to emit hazardous air pollutants.”
https://www.epa.gov/newsreleases/reducing-regulatory-burdens-epa-withdraws-once-always-policy-major-sources-under-clean
The new policy rolls back that always in policy. In other words, they can be re-evaluated if you know, things change.
Well that’s just plain fucking stupid… we know for a fact that nothing ever changes

We’re adults. We can handle a metaphorical ass-fucking.
Sure, since when?
We’re US citizens. There’s an inherent bung plunging going on at all times anyway.
Since always. Remember when people got mad when they thought their government might be spying on them? Tapping their phones, reading their personal mail? Now that shit is just everyday being American. Remember when all the TV channels were free? Now you pay per channel, sometimes per show. Remember when internet bandwidth was equal, and you could access whatever you wanted once you got online (which you used to do with your phone, and was part of your $8/mo phone bill)?
All that shit goes away, and people get mad about it for a while, and then people just accept the ass-fucking.
Remember how slow internet was? Remember how free TV was only 5 channels on a clear day? Remember when Jimmy Carter showed the Middle East that the United States could be bullied?
Yes the answer will be #3

It’s not about what’s in the content that will change, there’s always gonna be a new Trump for them to focus on. They are trying to be more than just “the paper”. I’m shocked at this point that a legit Post TV Network isn’t on cable at this point.

Put the words ‘Kirk’ and, ‘Cousins’ in the word filter for, oh, 72 hours or so
“If the Redskins want to try to tag and trade Cousins, the transition tag would be a much better vehicle to use. The practical effect would be the same and the Redskins would not have as much cap space tied up during the process.
There doesn’t really need to be any winking and nodding involved; the Redskins can give Cousins’ agent permission to talk to any or all teams at any time. Here is my understanding of how it could work out after the Redskins put the tag on him. 1) Cousins works out a deal with, say, Denver. No offer sheet is signed. 2) Cousins goes back to the Redskins, signs the tag, and the teams execute a trade that was agreed to beforehand. 3) Cousins signs the new deal with the Broncos.”

I am all for the Redskins being frugal and mindful of money, but folks wonder why the Eagles turned it around so quickly…Yes, they drafted well, but they spent some cash in free agency. I think you HAVE to spend decent coin on 1-2 top free agents a year to round out the talent on your roster.
And for their spending, they’re already over next season’s cap by $7.5m and looking at having to make a lot of cuts and miss out on retaining their best FAs.
that’s a Nick Foles trade away from being fixed
That’s only $3m
There are plenty of models both ways, but all good teams consistently draft/develop/retain well.

see how right Noone is
6th round Poonanie
It’s POONA! Show some respect.
Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie Poonanie
Panini Paganini Potatoe
No one respects the Poona!
Poontangie
Poona Chevy.
Falls apart at least once a week
Don’t beat your Poona!
Any of the guys from that NC State DL
Chubb, Hill, Street, Jones
all will be on a roster in May
Don’t know why some are so up on Poona Ford, he’s not getting drafted until mid 5th to mid 7th rounds
somebody I know has a 6th round grade on him
“short and stumpy” is an exact quote
Because they like to say the word Poona.
Low man wins. 80″ wingspan doesn’t hurt. Plus saying Poona.
BJ Hill NC State
would take 7 times a week and twice on Sunday over Poona
if I’m spending a 4th on a DL that’s my guy
He’s Austins cat
My late round guy is Deadrin Senat
he’s a 6th 7th round guy who probably starts off on a PS for some team
lots of upside to him
I wonder exactly how many times you can trade down in first pick and not take 2019 pick in return
you would probably end up with like 25 picks in the 5th, 6th and 7th rounds
the only future picks “playable” are the next two first rounders
otherwise there would be times were I would trade a pick or two forward after the 5th round, otherwise I typically don’t bother with trades after the 3rd round because at some people you’re assuring that the team is burning picks on players (just a numbers game) that won’t make the team. I mean, it ain’t real, but got to keep that internal suspension of disbelief
In terms of that game, it’s very rare to get offered a 2019 pick, I’ve only had it a few times.
From SI.com’s article on Baker Mayfield…https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/01/26/baker-mayfield-draft-senior-bowl-oklahoma
Chicago Bears approaches him…”“You guys just drafted Mitchell Trubisky,” Mayfield says, “so what do you want with me?”
Defensive linemen Jalyn Holmes and Tyquan Lewis stared down Mayfield, and one of them broke the silence: “What’s wrong with you, bro?”….(Mayfield) “That’s what you get for kicking my ass the year before!”
Auburn safety Tray Matthews recalled a critical play in the 2017 Sugar Bowl when Mayfield got an audible from the sideline, returned to his shotgun posture, looked across at the defense and shouted “I’m bout to get this first down!”…“Then he got the first down,” Matthews says.
“I’ve never really been able to see over the guys,” Mayfield says. “I just trust where they’re at and what I see in the defense. Nobody sees over the 6′ 8” left tackle. Ever Josh Allen, [UCLA’s Josh] Rosen and [USC’s Sam] Darnold can’t see over that guy. You’re seeing concepts, and understanding timing. If you see the guy open, you’re late. You have to anticipate it.”
Liking this guy a bunch
That last comment is spectacular
In the NFL if you wait to see the guy open, it’s probably going to be intercepted
This guy has the confidence and grit to succeed IMO. I can see him flying up the draft board
all the same, when a defense parts like the red sea in the middle to give the QB a nice big window to see and throw through, that drives me nuts.
Bills center Eric Wood to retire due to neck injury
that is the unnamed player from earlier today
Austin
Seems like PFord has been up and down at the senior bowl
I still like him but might be available later in the draft
If he’s there at 4 or 5. it’s a steal, IMO.

LMAO at all of those trades and picks.

should have taken a K instead of FB
he drafted 2
Vinny working for Baltimore or Cleveland?
Most I ever got in that game was 45 picks.
I got 40 one time last year.

HA!
My point should have been clear… negotiating from a position of spite or pettiness isn’t a good way to negotiate or a winning position.
wasn’t spite or pettiness is was trying to find a way for the Redskins to get something for Cousins
because they way it is now, we get nada for a losing a top tier QB (top 16 vs bottom tier last 16)
Oh it most certainly was… “either do this or we’re going to send your ass to Cleveland or you can sit out a year…”
here’s hoping gruden can take another mid-round qb and turn him into something, like he did with cousins.
A name I had not heard much until later this CFB season
Josey Jewell, ILB, Iowa
watched some highlights and read up on him some
would not be disappointed if we spent a 4th on him
can’t win war, but they can take on Nutella
Brawls have broken out in French supermarkets as shoppers scramble to get their hands on discounted jars of Nutella, the chocolate and hazelnut spread. Chaotic scenes were filmed in several supermarkets across the country operated by the Intermarche chain, which offered massive discounts on jars of Nutella. The promotion, launched Thursday, reduced the price of more than a million 950-gram jars from 4.70 euros ($5.85) to 1.41 ($1.75).
Jumpy was pretty much a one dimensional player, but what a dimension. If they didn’t double him, the OT and QB were in deep trouble. One powerful and strong human being.
tossing dudes around, great bull-rush, he was fun to watch.
His feats in the weight room are still legendary. I remember Jacoby referred to him as the strongest human on the planet.

Round 7 Pick 13: Tre’Quan Smith, WR, Central Florida (A+)
Round 7 Pick 23: Dimitri Flowers, FB, Oklahoma (A+)
that is the best way to get a high score on first pick
trade back a bunch of times and get lots of picks
I usually don’t go for points, I do a mix of what I would do if’n I were GM, and mix in some of what I think the Skins would do; but we don’t know much about that since this is smoke screen season
A special shout-out to Al Davis for trading Jim Lachey to the Skins for Jay ‘poutin” Shroeder. Skins have had some great, great players over the years…including Lachey.
and thanks Art Modell, for the Byner for Mike Oliphant trade…haha
All team steal
all TIME steal
That too!
remember when we were the smart team in trades?
Today is actually the anniversary of the SB! Happy anniversary, you never know what you have until its gone.
no shit…9-7 the next year (got a playoff win), then Gibbs retired, and the everything else has sucked since.
they had Madden and Summerall announcing, like, all their Sunday games almost.
and snyder wasn’t owner and bruce allen wasn’t GM and president! good times…. good times. seems like a lifetime ago. but, everything’s great!
the Cowboys win…down big at half on Monday Night Football, week 2…Chip Lohmiller kept us in the game with 5 long FG’s, pulled it out in the end 33-31.
Ah remember when we overcame big deficits in prime time! And yeah thanks Lions!
the Cowboys loss…down 24-21 in the final seconds, Ricky Sanders catches a pass to get the ‘Skins in FG range to tie, but gets a damn unsportsmanlike penalty for spiking the ball…
The almighty Brett Farve got his cherry popped in Nov ’91 vs Skins. 2 picks, zero completions in 4 attempts. The Redskins should get a motivational credit to his HOF career.
What was remarkable about this post season run was how the opposition was always sexier….the Falcons flamboyance, the legendary Barry Sanders and then the “this is finally our year” Bills. All looked like straight fools against the “boring” Skins.
great iteration of the defensive line that year, one of my favorites. Charles Mann, Erik Williams, Tim Johnson, Fred Stokes, Jumpy Geathers would come in on passing downs.
also the best starting cornerback tandem i think the team’s ever had, Green and Mayhew. Danny Copeland and Brad Edwards were the starting safeties, those two were there and gone really quickly, though.
Great lunch pail line that year. The National Defense played great team ball
i forgot that, haha, yeah!
ah, the “Seat Cushion” game against the “2-Legit” Falcons…Hammer was on their sideline that game, hahahaha
Don’t hurt’em Skins!
had a really tough game against the Oilers that year, week 5 i think. they had some no-name kicker miss a tying field goal at the end, 16-13 ‘Skins.
Yeah, and with this game and a few others it makes their eventual point differential even more nutty
Nice job cl
Haven’t heard from you since the Spurrier years
Hope that you are doing well
Thanks, I was commenting through Shanny Era I believe…who knows!
There’s not much difference when you think about it I guess
one of the forgotten part of that season was how good the defense was
3 shut outs and 8 other games where the opposing team was held to 14 or less points
so 11 of 199 games where the defense strangled the other team
The best team ever fielded, yet shunned from that recognition just like #66 from the HOF.

If he’s smart, he’ll replace Dak with your boyfriend.
Bite your tongue. I’d say that Mike’s guy is off the table, though.
Never thought he had a shot at anything….why the back and forth is so funny.
and Larry it was 86 points not 85
45-0
41-10
Nice catch
math is hard
85, 86, or 87. Depending.

Sorry, bro. But it’s darn-near obligatory at this point! 🙂
I had 4 years of math in college
all different classes too, not the same one repeated for 4 years
I know words like cardinal/ordinal numbers, Bessel, Fourier, Laplace, linear, orthogonal and such

what does it mean?!?!
The Earth is flat…… obviously
and square! hahaha.. hence the biblical “four corners” stuff.
And the ocean is hot oil.
It’s the earth from space. It’s beautiful!
DC,
i get that it’s the continents rendered in fried chicken. i was making a reference to that guy who went crazy over seeing a double rainbow.
Nice read CLX, I was a sophomore in highschool. I remember haters talking shit all week about how Barry Sanders was gonna run all over us……..well.
Sanders had 44 yds on 11 carries but 23 yards was on one carry
so he really was a no factor
Yup.
Yep. I was a junior. My bandwagon town was a Bills town back then. I remember laughing when a Bills kid bet me they’d beat the Skins in the SB.
Remember when you could confidently assert that the Skins would win and actually believe it?
js,
the skins were once a good, possibly great, team. it’s unfathomable, now, but… there it is.
No shit

the john riggins bow at the end of that playoff game was just so subtly bad-ass.
that was the 1982 playoff game against the Vikings
i honestly tear up a bit just thinking about it.
yup, chrislarry. nice article. the redskins used to be good. breaks my heart.

Noone Kirk Scenario
1. Here’s our best offer
2. If you don’t like it, go shop yourself around the league and we will trade you to that team because we are not letting you without getting some value
3. If you don’t come back to us before 3/6 we are f-tagging you
4. Once you sign that offer, we are trading you to Cleveland
5. Or you can sit out a whole year and play for someone else in 2019
——-
walter_in_fallschurch noonefromtampa • 10 minutes ago
what kind of trade scenario are you imagining?! kirk has all the cards. no one is going to sign, or trade for, him on a franchise tag. my understanding of a transition tag is that he gets to choose what to do with that offer. what do we get in return if he leaves after we’ve transition tagged him?
Leave it to Noone to make a lot of sense. I like the thinking. And for Cleveland, a $34m tag is no issue.
Nice post, noone.
i’m asking how they can expect to get anything for him when he leaves.
they can try, they cannot be assured of it
outside of possible compensatory pick
right. so, he leaves. we get nothing. everything’s great!
my scenario is the attempt to make lemonade from lemons
actually probably of success < 15%
No team is going to trade for a tagged Cousins unless they have an agreement with him on a LTD. If they can agree on a LTD there’s no reason to trade for him because they could just make a formal offer and dare Washington to match.
Now, if KC signs an offer sheet and Washington DOES match, they could try to trade him. But will another team give up more than a 3rd after they’ve already made what they consider to be a fair deal? Now they’re having to give up what they think he’s worth PLUS a first or second round pick? I doubt it.
Man, DC. Stop raining on my wishful thinking!!
with a f-tag he can sign or sit out
a t-tag does nothing for us and it won’t be used
