Redskins To Give Away Fuller, a 3rd Round Pick and Kirk Cousins for an Older Kirk Cousins
February 1, 2018
By John Worrall
On Tuesday evening, ESPN’s Adam Schefter generously shared the news that the Washington Redskins intend to give away a talented young cornerback and a third-round pick as soon as possible. In return, the Redskins will receive an aging good-but-not-HOF-good quarterback and the ability to finally declare the entire 2012 landmark draft a failure.
Kendall Fuller is good. He’s also 22 years old. We haven’t seen a good 22 year old cornerback in Washington since Champ Bailey, who ended up having an excellent career in Denver. Kirk Cousins is also good. Cousins can not only claim the best season in franchise history in terms of passing yards and completions – he can claim the best TWO seasons in both categories, a feat made all the more impressive by the fact that he was only the starter for three seasons, and that during those three seasons, he had a neophyte head coach and no running game or defense to speak of.
But, while he’s still a Redskin for now, it seems safe to assume that our 4th round draft gem has worn the burgundy & gold for the last time, as he will ship off to a destination 100% of his choosing, with the Redskins receiving absolutely nothing in return. Zero. Zip. Nada. Bupkus.
So as we watch Kirk (and his ridiculously impressive yardage and equally unimpressive sub .500 win percentage) saunter off to some rival club, let’s take a look at what we will receive in QB Alex Smith.
For starters, Smith is a former #1 overall draft pick by the San Francisco 49ers. The year was 2005. George W. Bush had just been inaugurated for the second time. Pope John Paul II had just died. Hurricane Katrina made landfall, and Saddam Hussein was finally put on trial.
Alex Smith was drafted the exact same day that the first ever YouTube video was uploaded (Me at the Zoo).
The point is, Smith is old. He’ll be 34 by the time the 2018 season starts, and Washington is reportedly giving Smith another four years, which will make him REALLY old by the time his contract is up (if he lasts that long). Smith was already old enough for the Kansas City Chiefs to spend the 10th pick in the 2017 draft replacing him.
Age aside, however, Smith has been a reliable-but-not-remarkable quarterback throughout his career. He helped Kansas City right what was quickly becoming a terrible ship under Matt Cassel, and he avoids making bad decisions with his arm and his feet. The knock on Smith, as is the knock on Cousins, is that for all his stats, he doesn’t come through in the must-win games.
In Smith, the Redskins get a good leader and a good QB with a high salary. He is not going to improve the Redskins on the field. Alex Smith and Kirk Cousins are very similar quarterbacks. Smith obviously has more experience and is a little more likely to run, which he does well, but he is not going to solve the Redskins main problems, which are the lack of a running game and the inability to stop opponents from running the ball.
Because he is willing to sign a contract, however, he will make it easier for the Redskins to turn their attention to their other needs… which now include shoring up the cornerback position… and figuring out who will replace their aging starting quarterback.
Happy Hour time!

So unlike all the reports, the #Redskins DID reach out to Kirk after the season and wanted a fair negotiation. Kirk reiterated that he wanted to test the market. I’m going to miss him. But I don’t want a QB that doesn’t want to be a Redskin. Very sad. Time to move on. #HTTR

Nice expanded format
It’s what he has always wanted, he wants to be the center of attention and have everyone fawn over him.
Having JAllen made PSmith a more effective player
Insert the same thing next to RKERRIGAN and boom…..

713, agree that OL and DL are NOT the only team needs……but to me they are the highest priority
Recall the last couple of games where we couldn’t stop the running game nor could we get ours going
Let’s see what we get in FA. There should be at least 2-3 positions upgraded there.
Of course we have lots more needs but I’m with you, usually, the teams with the best line play win.
Dline all day, everyday. Look at what happened to our defense after we lost Allen. That’s when the entire defense fell apart. Allen was drawing double teams. We were creating push in the middle. Without him, there was no push in the middle in the pass, and we could no longer stop the run. You can have all the pressure from the edge, but if the QB can just step up, it doesn’t mean nearly as much.
Round 1 Pick 16 (BALT): DaRon Payne, DT, Alabama (B)
Round 2 Pick 12: Mark Andrews, TE, Oklahoma (B+)
Round 2 Pick 20 (BALT): Will Hernandez, OG, Texas-El Paso (A-)
Round 4 Pick 13: Darius Phillips, CB, Western Michigan (A)
Round 5 Pick 12: Jaylen Samuels, RB/WR, North Carolina State (A+)
Round 6 Pick 14: Jack Cichy, ILB/OLB, Wisconsin (A)
Round 7 Pick 13: Kyle Lauletta, QB, Richmond (B-)
Round 7 Pick 23: Will Richardson, OT, North Carolina State (A+)
Slick if KC came across as ‘shocked’
I’m calling bs on his part
He is really coming across as a fraud in this whole thing
He’s playing the innocent card a little too much for my taste
i’d be “shocked” if cummings thought we were going to re-sign him.
As I’ve been saying, he’s a two-faced mercenary. I get it, but I don’t like him. I think he’s phony. Probably comes from being roommates with RGIII.
I’m ‘shocked’ that suddenly Skins fans think Cousins is a liar and a fraud.
he’s doing exactly what he said he was going to do for like 2 years
we may not like it, but he (at least in this context) isn’t a liar/fraud
I read his interview . He came across as first class . He was actually complimentary of the organization.
Said he surprised, didn’t see the word “shocked” . Maybe I missed it.
I agree. I don’t like the fact that he didn’t sign here, but I think he’s the genuine article. I think he honestly felt like the Redskins weren’t sold on him, and didn’t want to sign a LTD with a team that wasn’t really in love with him.
What’s the old saying? There’s no such thing as a free lunch? We bought a new range and they were running a deal where they threw in a free dishwasher. Old one was working, but it’s at least 16 yrs. old so ripe for replacement.
Turns out the old washer was hard wired and the new one has a plug. Can’t just cut the plug off and wire it up because it voids the warranty. No problem, I’ll just call an electrician and have an outlet installed. Cheap. Derp. Whoever did the original wiring was a mad scientist. The DW was on the same circuit as the disposal, lights, and outlets (actually on two separate breakers), which is a no no. So now I’ve gotta run a line from the breaker box in the garage, under the house, up the wall, and behind the DW. Got a $750 free dishwasher.
I was well into the second paragraph before I realized this was literal and not an analogy for the Skins/Chiefs trade. Lol.
Congrats on the new free dishwasher, though!
I’m sure there is an analogy there somewhere. 😉
you do it now, or the potential purchasers ding you with it when you sell that house. and yes, they’ll find stuff like that.
tip: if you have a microwave/vent hood combo over the range and it isn’t on it’s own 20 amp circuit; save money and have the electrician run that line too.
I thought about saying screw it and cutting the plug, but the way it was wired was a fire risk. Probably lucky it never caused a problem.
Be happy you are in the 30% of American households that can afford that. That’s right seven out of 10 American households cannot afford a $500 hiccup.
You don’t even wanna know what I paid for the range.
Brand?

We have this one.

Nice. Yours is bigger than mine. We got the 30″ duel fuel.
there are five of us. Plus we bought the house when it was a couple years old and was already there didn’t choose that one
at that price point, I’d go with a high end electric model, solar panels, and a Tesla wall
I believe it is that they can’t pay cash for it, either they have to go credit because they don’t have money or their stuff (assets/investments) isn’t liquid enough to justify not using a revolving account
our emergency fund used to have a 1-2 week window to get a check, so I usually wouldn’t even bother for $500 hiccup. just would stop contributing to the emergency fund for a few months.
So after listening to Kirk Cousins’ interview this morning from radio row, Kirk seemed shocked. While I don’t like the Fuller piece of the trade, I applaud the Redskins for “ripping the band-aid off” and moving on. Kirk will no longer be able to hold us hostage and we’ve moved on. He now has what he wants. Godspeed.
Amen to that. Dude seemed to think the Skins were going to let him jerk them around forever.
Anyone watching the playoffs and comes away thinking we don’t need to solidify our defense in for line just simply does not know football. Advocating taking anyone other than an offensive or defensive lineman in the first two rounds is borderline insane. You could have the best running back in this class running behind a mediocre offensive line it’s not going to work
If they don’t re-sign Brown, then maybe LB
Ugh, a ferocious defensive line will allow us to even let Zach Brown go and draft a rookie or pick up a another free agent that will work just fine
but FA will modify where they go in the draft to an extent, recently what they’ve done is fill holes in FA to make the draft more flexible
but that still doesn’t get at the issue of creating spheres of excellence on the team rather than try to make the whole team really good. a lot of the really good teams do that.
What’s insane is not acknowledging that the team has many needs, not just the OL and DL, and not considering that the draft make work out that such that one or two of those other needs might be filled in rds 1 or 2 instead.
I will agree to disagree. Football 101 dictates the team with the best line play wins. I know we have lots of needs and it’s a strong class for defensive tackles but I don’t want a third or fourth or fifth round draft pick next to Allen and we definitely need a left guard
even if their good?
-Flounder
the trouble is with the draft the later rounds are often times 1 out of 5 1 out of 6 success rate. Sure pick up another tackle or guard or defensive tackle in the later rounds but the key word there is another
Totally disagree, httr.i want the best combination of players, not just best ol/dl. Of we can get superior athlete at 13, I take him. We can get solid LG in fa or rd 2 or 3. It does not need to be at 13

sometimes you get bad outcomes when nobody messed up
——————————–
I understand why/how they messed up. And won’t call it a huge mistake. I mean, no one can watch KC over time and think, yep, make him the highest paid player in NFL history.
Still, they should have just paid the 24m/ last year. It would have raised eyebrows, sure. But I’d rather be paying 24 per to 30yo Cousins than 34yo Smith.
I don’t think anyone would have said boo if we had signed him to a $24 – $25M/yr deal last year. That’s about what he’s worth and the minimum of what it was going to take. Whether he would have agreed to it is another matter.
The big mistake IMO was not taking the deal Kirks side put on the table after his 1st season as a starter. I can understand why they didn’t do it. But it’s a real killer that they didn’t.
Which deal was that?
might have been that 19 mil deal
Scamp
If Quentin Nelson is there at 13 he should be the pick
If he is gone drop into the 20’s and grab Will Hernandez
If neither are there then grab a DL from NC State in the 20’s
Barkely falls to 13. Nelson falls to us in round 2.
Jay averages 10 run calls a game….
/snarkasm
Gotta take Nelson if he’s there at 13. Otherwise I’m taking bDTa.
That’s where I am as well.
What’ll be interesting is if one of the top 3 QBs drops to 13. Do you take Rosen, Darnold, or Mayfield? I think yes.
I’m souring on Mayfield.
Tainted love….
We REALLY need a LG. REALLY!
I would not be surprised to see RB and LG in rounds one and two. Not necessarily in that order
We have not had much luck with FA Gs or FA RTs.
Filling those holes is not as easy as it seems.
if we take an o-lineman in the first round who can solve that LG dilemma, we should have a top-tier offensive line and we will be on our way and let the TE run routes instead of being beaten trying to block.
We’ll still need a LT… soon
I have to think TWill can extend his career a couple years by moving to G. Not yet, but soon.
Sure… but still need a LT.
And when is the last time Trent played a full season
You think Scherff can move out there?
I do.
RT?
I don’t. He still get’s beat in a box from time to time. I think he’d get beat a lot more out in space
if it is part of a plan, and 1 of top LTs fall to you, I’d be OK with that even now
TWill would be a really good LG for a few years, maybe not quite yet, but…
I think, with how good interior D linemen have become… guards are far more important than they get credit for.
Lauvao is gone, so yes. We actually have an open LG spot on the roster, don’t we?
Pretty sure that is correct. No one actually signed to play that position
Still shows on the roster.
League year ain’t over yet…
He’ll be a FA once the new period begins in March. All the guys on our 2017 roster should, technically, still be there as of today (including Kirk)
Yep, makes sense.
Who were some of the young buck stepped in over the year? Coullier or something like that? We should have Long back at C, and there was a young backup who looked solid before he went down too. Kouandjio can come to backup the backups, I suppose.
Long is FA
I think it was one of the ESPN guys who thought the skins would not re-sign him
Didn’t realize that. Should get him locked up
Chase Roullier showed he can hold down the center position allowing Long to move to LG.
They’ll let Long go… he’s not really that good.
Ahhhhhhhh fuck.
– Trebek
I think the thing is is that the Skins don’t want to pay him what they think he will get in FA
Thought he was solid until the injury. Shouldn’t be too expensive
The money is the problem, from what I have seen, they don’t want to pay him 5-6 M a year, or whatever it would cost.
I think Long was Okay, I’d actually say if we kept him that I’d want to see him at C and see if Chase can play LG, I liked Long at Center a lot.
Long is nothing more than a swing backup IMO
Roullier should be the starting C. Long is no answer for anything other than a backup swing interior linemen.
Agree. He’s aight, but that’s about it, and someone’s probably going to sign him for starter money.
Some good OL prospects in the early rounds.
Gruden would grumble taking a Guard in the 1st .
Not if it was Quenton Nelson he wouldn’t
He grumbled about Scherff….he’ll grumble about Nelson.
If you are not a fan of Alex Trebek, you will be now:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU2w72KAkQQ
Nice pull. Hilarious.
He even cusses like he has a stick firmly inserted in his anus
I don’t like the fact that we traded a quality CB and a Third now instead of just paying Kirk last year (or the year before) but Acceptance and all. They messed up. We must forgive. Sip that Koolaid, etc.
But, looking at it from Acceptance: This places us in a spot where we have a semi-franchise QB for 3 years (hopefully). We can continue building run game and defense while remaining mediocre. Along the way, hopefully Jay drafts “his guy”. And then around year 8 of Jay’s tenure, we have a team built to contend throughout the roaring 20s.
sometimes you get bad outcomes when nobody messed up
I think the D needs to be reinforced with power and depth. Re-signing Zach Brown is a priority. Assuming the team isn’t decimated with injuries (again), then Alex & Co. will have more opportunities to drive down the field and score points.
I’m feeling pretty good about returning to having a winning record with a legit shot at the playoffs.
Time of death….
Everybody rushing to get some work done so they can appear productive before lunch
Scamp, when are you moving East?
This summer… most likely towards the end
It wasn’t a good sign that Thursday’s “Jeopardy” panel went through all the other categories before being forced to address the one that tested their NFL knowledge. Sure enough, the three contestants proved unable to muster even a guess at any of the five questions (well, answers) related to the league, much to host Alex Trebek’s chagrin.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2018/02/02/comically-complete-nfl-cluelessness-is-the-latest-sports-related-fail-on-jeopardy/?utm_term=.29e077608bab
That was freakin’ hilarious:
https://twitter.com/twitter/statuses/959267654438547456
Looking at the contestants… was anyone really shocked? If you would have asked about obscure comic books they would have been falling all over themselves to hit the buzzer. Looked like a less entertaining version of The Big Bang Theory cast.
I was watching it at a neighborhood bar. The bartender and I were going nuts yelling at the contestants.
Slam dunk category
There was a “College Jeopardy” episode when I was in college and tuned in. There was some surfer looking dude getting stomped in the first round. The second round included a “sports” category. Since the surfer dude was in last place (by a lot), he got to choose first. He smiled and said, “SPORTS FOR A THOUSAND, ALEX!”
lol
Skins sent out a presser about the Texas vs UMD game at FedEx next season
But that doesn’t really merit a new post IMO.
Wish they would go fuck up someone else’s field. Have it at RFK or even the Ravens stadium.
Or God forbid Maryland just play at their own dang stadium.
https://cbswashington.files.wordpress.com/2014/10/456647878.jpg?w=640&h=360&crop=1
Totally agree. It’s not at all a bad stadium or field. WTF?
Yes, I think it holds 50K+
The only problem is that it’s full of Hon’ bastards.
This way they get to avoid 25K Texas fans in their own crib
Any reports on Jonathan Allen’s recovery?
Saw something about him on Twitter the other day… don’t remember it being negative
double amputee
sad trombone
Good post suggestion
Injury updates
Given all of the injuries that would be months worth of posting
We couldn’t really get accurate enough information for a post like that right now.
Just speculate and make shit up like the beat reporters.
He’s dead Jim.
Okay, if memory serves me right, I believe was healthy enough to start the last game or two, but they opted to scratch him, since the season was over.
So he should be fine going into camp.
I made 18% on my money this year.
EIGHTEEN FUCKING PERCENT!!!!!
My retirement expectations are only based on 5% which would keep me living off interest.
I sincerely hope everyone has wood over their 401K’s and other investment vehicles.
Awesome! Jeezy-peezy, 18%.
I was at 12 for my work 401k and 16 for my ira
It’s the type of increase that makes you giggle involuntarily while saying, “Holy f***ing shit!”
Time plus money plus returns like that = retirement sooner
Compound interest.
There is no greater phenomenon.
As long as I don’t get sued or do something stupid like get some chick pregnant, I am out of the game at 55 or 56.
Dividends PLUS compound interest
RoR 23.25%
That’s insane. Congrats.
Nonfarm Payroll Report was slightly better, but earnings reports, especially in the energy sector disappointed. Wall Street selling off sharply.
It’s amusing to see you tout every drop in the market but when it soars you are as silent as Bob
He has me on ignore.
– 90+ record-breaking closings in less than 12 months
And the 8 years prior to that.
From May 2015- May 2016 the market was actually down
From Feb 2013 to July 2016 it was up 4000 points
Since the election it’s up about 8000 points
Markets don’t travel in straight lines. Plot a support line since 2009 and it was a very nice long-term recovery.
For the last 8 years we hovered steadily just outside the threshold of a recession.
You either didn’t know that or you ignored that.
Either way, that makes you a moron.
The market has been chugging along nicely. Little corrections are okay with me.
…but we all know your game
the other day Wall Street sold off because of the scare Amazon/Berkshire/JPMorgan healthcare thing
be interesting if the CAFE standards are hurting the energy sector, and possibly, the Transcanada Keystone XL approval
kind of also be funny if a big part of the economy was the Bitcoin folks chasing the wind, and now, well… “re-evaluating” their portfolios
but the demographics demand that we’ll have a pretty flat decade coming soon, and the reason for that is simple. as interest rates rise (they are) and the baby boomers are old but not dead, they will move more and more of their portfolios to income investments until the healthcare companies take it all.
Yes we are long overdue for a significant correction but the secular bull market has at least another five to eight years to go in my opinion
Corrections are good
NFLPenalties.com has the redskins at the 4th least penalized team (92 total flags) and 2nd least in terms of yardage(733). I didn’t realize that.
Most of our opponents chose to decline and take the result of the play for a first down.
Ha!
Even in total flags we finished bottom 3, 110 flags thrown.
NFL’s best was Carolina who ended up with 105 penalty flags.
Look for that to improve with the retirement of Jeff Triplett.
That asshole.
Fuck that fucking guy.
That’s surprising. Sign of good coaching, IMO.
We had that stat in all 16 game previews we published this season.
Classic
We need DL, even if we have Allen. With Allen, a top pick DL and the Greek, we have a disruptive DL. If one of the three goes down for a spell or the season, we still have a solid Dline. This is imperative, IMO. Look at the drop-off on the Dline after Allen went out last year. Dude was drawing double teams. I said it when he went down, that that was going to be th team’s biggest loss of the season, including when Norman went down. Pretty sure I was right.
Vita Vea…thats who I hope we pick.
Me too. Or Payne.
This is where I’m at.
You know this means they’re drafting a WR or RB.
I’d be OK with RB, but man I really want DL…. Those are my top two draft needs.
the Guice is loose!
fake faking mockery go trade back, Payne, then Harrison, and then go have a puff puff with Tinkerbell
Not disagreeing with you, but I still go BPA at 13. And I think RSmith is better than Payne or vea.
I appreciate the optimism and even the breathless dismissal of the loss of Fuller…
but seriously, we’re going from a position of strength to experimenting and hoping it works out. Somehow.
where some of us have made to Acceptance on that is the hope that we don’t have that issue at QB but unf at the expense of slot corner
It is what it is. Took us a long time to find a competent slot CB and now we’re back to looking. Hopefully one of the guys on the roster will step up and do a credible job.
Bottom line: If you feel like the Washington Redskins did not get better with the Smith trade for KF and a 3rd, you will never understand anything about anything and should be beaten with Adrian Peterson’s switch.
I don’t think anyone who knows anything believes we’re better now than we were, but it’s irrelevant because Cousins wasn’t coming back. I’d say we’re better right now than we would have been with Colt, but that’s short-term thinking.
So, if Cousins wasn’t coming back, but we added a competent starting caliber QB, how are we not better off?
He’s literally brain damaged.
He literally described himself as not knowing anything about anything within his own statement.
He is the gift that keeps on giving.
Just my opinion. But if I’m doing a rough sketch for how the skins depth chart is shaping up right now here’s where I’m at. In color code excel form: https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/26035073e44ac0be558efc4753789aa1eba1b4b9f77aaf6078f0ee69f0fbb3ff.png
I prefer more of a dashboard view.
Paradise.
Let me sleep on it…..
BTW I’ve only got 49 spots listed, realizing that a team technically has 53 guys, but I figure there’s got to be room for extra random spots getting filled via ST, maybe a good RB you want to keep that stuff.
Take Stroman late as CB for Gray to work with.
there’s also that cat from Miami (OH)
Scherff = Elite
Moses = Capable
We don’t run a nose tackle
Tress Way is at least good, if not elite
How do you upgrade your long snapper if he didn’t fuck up any long snaps?
Josh Norman is good. Zero interceptions and getting burned half the year is not elite. I don’t care if he was injured, if he’s getting beat like that he shouldn’t play.
I kinda just left the ST guys all green out of laziness, they aren’t going anywhere realistically. I think your’re overrating BS and underrating Mosses.
Agree Norman had a bad year, but this is about looking forward.
See, I think you’re underrating BS and overrating Moses 🙂
Scherff wiffs a bit to often for my tastes in the run game, then at other times he is the most deadly blocker there, especially if he’s pulling. Moses, I just respect how much he played through this year.
He played hurt. That doesn’t make him good.
He played hurt and was still better than most the other guys who play RT.
BS is elite, MM is good.
Nice chart. I would put Scherff in the elite category.

“Before Fuller, when was the last time the Redskins drafted a CB who actually turned out to be better than pretty good?”
Breeland
——————–
IMO Breeland is pretty good at best. Strong tackler and good against the run. Decent in press coverage. Weak in off coverage. Doesn’t produce many INTs. Above average No. 2 outside corner.
Dunbar UDFA WR we turned into a CB
Which is great, and I think he’s pretty good too.
I think you are underrating him. He’s been a borderline pro-bowl caliber CB for us for 2 of the last 3 seasons.
Breeland showed he can hit this year. But his whole career he has shown he’s good for at least two dumb penalties per game.
Mmm? I don’t think he’s ever been close for PB consideration.
Isaiah Wynn anyone? which round?
moves from T to G in NFL
3rd round grade
Could go late 1st. I’d take him in the second.
What’s the book on Isaiah?

If we take another WR in the first, so help me…
well if we re-sign Brown, sign some DL help like Logan
taking a WR in the 1st is not outside realm of possibility
Even if we sign a FA DL, our running game is in a far greater state of disrepair.
Need to bring in a couple FA Gs.
not sure that’s as much a player problem as it is a design and practice
if you look at the roster and how Doctson is still developing, and Pryor was a fail, it’s a pretty big hole
but still
People are overblowing the Doctson situation. His play improved steadily over the season, and he showed some flashes of big potential. He also had a few drops. This is what you expect from a kid this early in his career.
I’d go FA WR. I’m looking for an upgrade over M Harris and Grant, someone who can lead the young guys, but not break the bank, at the same time, not looking for chopped liver. Not sure that guy is going to be a FA. 1st round WR has to be a mega hit
D-line please. Thank you.
DL or OL
Trade back into the low 20’s is my preference
Make it so.
I am of the mind that if all we drafted were linemen (O and D), our entire team would actually improve.
Crazy. You don’t have room on 53 for 7 more dl and ol
FA fixes that and the better linemen will displace the so-so ones.
DL, OL, both work for me, but I’d be OK if we ended up going S or LB too. Get an offensive weapon in the 2nd round.
Need someone next to TWill and someone next to JAllen
I think we’ve got someone next to Allen in Matt, a 3rd guy to go full 3-4 I agree, that’s a big need. I think/hope that they can find a guard that makes them happy in the 4th round, since for some reason they don’t want to keep SLong.
Lanier, 300, maybe PTaylor.
Would love another 1st round stud in that mix.
James, Smith are must takes, beyond that, DLine.
Not taking Mayfield, but would trade back if someone else wanted him
Yes
With another good pick or two on the dline, we will miss Fuller much less….
They aren’t going to miss Fuller much regardless. Moreau will step up, they’ll draft someone, and the secondary will survive.
55 passer rating against.
We’re going to miss that.
My gosh man….Fuller was so strong, QBs went after Norman.
It’ll be okay, promise.
We’re going to feel it. And get on whomever fills the slot. Promise.
Sounds like you have a sore slot alright.
QB went after Norman when he was hurt
mostly they went after Breeland
Was it ever acknowledged that Norman was not 100% the remainder of the season when he came back?
I’m not seeing the stats that show, when both were on the field, that Breeland was the guy targeted. What do you have?
I don’t miss him at all. He gone. He ain’t comin’ back. I’m rolling with who we have along with a legitimate NFL QB who can make us very competitive.
Kendall who?
I meant, we can field a player of a bit less talent as long as the line gets enough pressure…
He wasn’t an All Pro. You know that right?
i’m thinking something about my texts isn’t clear? He’s a damn good corner and if we have a shithole defensive line, we will get eaten up by good qb’s. if we build a line like the friggin eagles, we won’t have to have as strong a secondary to do well.
From some of the twitter comments we’ve gotten about this, you’d think that Kendall Fuller was Darrell Green in his prime. The secondary will be fine.
Fuller represented potential. He was an exciting player to watch, and it was great to see one of our draft picks start to blossom into a talented player. I don’t know why you are so certain that all our other young CBs will also suddenly play well.
I’m totally, 100% okay with trading a CB and a 3rd pick that we’ll most likely get back net year for a top 10-level starting QB who should be good for the next 3 years. This team drafts CBs almost every year, and does pretty well developing them. Kendall Fuller had one good year here. They’ll easily find a replacement.
I think you’re being uncharacteristically optimistic about how easy it is to find cornerbacks who have *any* good years here.
I think you’re ignoring the fact that the most important position in team sports was occupied only by Colt McCoy. I’d ship Fuller out 10 times out of 10 to fix that.
Why trade away young talent rather than hit the FA market for a QB if you’re only going to have him for a couple of years anyway?
I think we’ll be fine without Fuller, to be honest. For me, the issue is more that the FO doesn’t seem to understand that the team is not in a position to be giving away young and future talent in exchange for old talent. I get that they fucked up the Kirk situation, but fixing it by giving away young players is just exasperating.
Amen
DL or Nelson (I think Perine/Kelly/Anyone will be able to run behind Nelson/TWill left and Moses/Scherff right side).
Unless, Barkley falls (and he won’t) I can’t see taking RB in round 1. Jay doesn’t believe in running enough anyway.
The passing game was fine with Kirk, the passing game will be fine with Alex. The focus has to be on the run – both on offense and defense.
I’ve always believed, and still do, that if you have strong line play, you can have average players behind them. the d-line, made up of blue chip players will allow us to get by without all star db’s and safeties. So build the lines
Agreed
Throwing under duress improves db play
DL first round pick. That is still the #1 priority for this team.
well, actually, it’s WR1; because they don’t have one at all, but they have a solid starting DL
but I agree with the line strategy
Make sure you control the line first, then build outward.
Allen went down and our DL went to shit. No DL is far from solid.
build ‘da lines… period
That’s why we need more than one addition to the Dline.
We’re still vulnerable there. I’d love to see them go DL 1st and 4th. I’d wet myself for 1st and 2nd…but 1st and 4th will do.
and an elite WR1
and an elite RB
and and elite LG
and an elite young blocking pass-catching all world TE
and six deep DL with buck-toothed ogres that feed on human flesh and football leather
and eight deep OL, soul-less, merciless, and unforgiving
and LBers that are all 255, run 4.2 40’s and even hate their mothers
Superbowl!
The acquisition of Smith….upended the priorities.
The FO has to find him weapons.
why? KC threw for more yards than AS did last year with the weapons we already have.
Alex Smith had one of the top RBs in the NFL….the Redskins had below average RBs. That’s why.
Give your investment the best possible chance to render a big return.
I was being sarcastic, sorry I should have indicated that. I know As has had that strong rushing attack and defense the entire time at Kansas City. he won’t fare as well here unless we build that up. Cousins, or any qb for that matter, would benefit from those things.
RB second round. Can’t wait til fourth. Won’t get one in FA.
I can’t decide…I”m not sure it isn’t RB. I’m okay with either being the top pick as long as the team addresses both.
What if Roquan Smith was available at 13
line first
I am not sure Payne and Vea are rated as high as RSmith. I’d have to take Smith
Hell yeah
No argument there
Got to get and have that strong line.
We’re pieces away from that yet.
that’s why I said build the lines…i’m a broken record about building the lines, both offensive and defensive lines…football 101
Would love to see the Redskins pair someone up with Allen to really get that pressure. Would be happier if we had Fuller back there to reap the benefits – I don’t really see the other guys showing those skills (except Nicholson at safety), but I’d like to be proven wrong.
When was the last time we fleeced or gave up a decent player for high to mid round picks ala Andy Reid? Someone with an expiring contact and he was indeed a luxury? Serious question…
RG trade?
Wait……
Decent, been a long time.
I’m amazed Shanny was able to get anything for McNabb and Fat Albert. 4th and 6th rd picks.
4th and 6th round picks for overpriced celebs isn’t exactly a fleecing, though.
The last time I remember the Redskins getting the better end of a trade deal was when Ditka gave us the whole Saints draft so he could get Ricky Williams. Somehow, we used those picks to make the team worse.
That we got anything for Fat Albert was a fleecing.
Good pull on Fat Al. Belichick doss make some questionable trades at times. Doesn’t mean shit. He still puts up 13+ wins and championships ugh
A man asked the judge for 5 minutes alone with Dr Nasser, he had 3 daughters molested by the guy. Ended up attacking Larry in the court room.
I’d been tempted to let him have his 5 minutes.
and here is a tire iron just in case Larry attacks you
wink-wink
Vigilante justice is so much cooler in movies than rule of law.
Your point is being proven, lol
I’d love to go back to public humiliation punishment…
Judges can’t do that. What the judge can do for him is not charge with contempt and assault.
High percentage of victim witness statements include that very request.
You’d have to put me in leg irons and chain me to a bench.
I think you could probably kill him and find it difficult to have any jury convict you.
Involuntary manslaughter
Probably 7-8 years, 7 suspended and served on paper.
Probably. Remote chance at jury nullification. Not sure if its permitted, but if I were the judge, I’d allow a jury instruction on jury nullification (I’m a corporate lawyer admittedly).
Probably get over turned on appeal, but the state would probably never re-try.
You’d still pull at least a year or two during the appeal.
then you find out Dr Nasser is a black belt in six martial arts and is a ninth level wizard

Which is harder to find a competent starting NFL QB or a slot cornerback?
mic drop
pretty sure 32 NFL GM’s will pick the QB
Trick question,
The answer is kicker.
LOL
for us finding a competent kicker has been hard
Low hanging fruit. Obviously
Which is harder to find. A long term solution at a position or a short-term transition player?
Smith: under contract for 5 years (allegedly)
Fuller: 2 years
Fuller would had re-signed.
We’ve already discussed this.
They should totally trade J Allen for D Jackson
it would be so tragic funny I think I might suffocate from laughter
I remember when Mack Brown was snatched by the Vikings and people were talking like we just lost Gayle Sayers.
SERENITY NOW!!! – dc
Ehh only idiots though that. Fuller was the MVP of the defense, albeit banged up defense. Not a comparison
See I’d say the MVP of the defense was Kerrigan, or the Spartan. Brown before he got hurt.
LANIER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But the DMVP was Zach Brown and that’s not really even debatable.
Only reason he’s not a lock for the DMVP is that he got hurt and missed the final part of the season.
Good debate but Brown has his limitations in coverage. Spartan? Allen? Fuller legit locked down his zone or guy. Even grabbed a few INTs…
4 INTs
Given many here, including myself, feel AS is about the same as KC just older, We could’ve received a good young starter on defense and a draft pick had our FO handled things differently and traded KC. Instead we give up those things replacing him…
they wanted to keep him, and I think they thought they were going to until last July
and if you want to keep him, you can’t draft a “starter”; that assures you’re not keeping him
Yes, but that trade would have had to happen last year or the year before.
that is true, still, they were’nt sold on him so we COULD have, as evidenced by what we paid for AS, received versus paid for his departure
They should trade for Desean Jackson.
A sign and trade with KC was NEVER going to happen. He wanted to hit FA and he wasn’t going to cooperate in any such scenario. It wasn’t going to ever happen. It was a pipe dream, dreamed up by unrealistic fans.
The FO fucked up with Cousins. Probably found the best solution to the problem.
The best, only solution. Most people understand that. Doesn’t mean there’s not a negative column.
Of course. 1) Years of screwing up with Cousins. 2) Price was steep, but likely necessary.
If you’re wondering about grabbing a slot corner in FA. The Bears Bryce Callahan who’s 26, is the only slot CB up for grabs. But, he’s a RFA.
The drop off from Fuller to Callahan, is significant. And, he won’t come cheap.
Have you considered any of the options currently on the team
Just saying
We don’t know if Bree is staying.
Moreau can progress
Dunbar depends on Bree
Everyone else
Ok so good
He might already be here
Phew
Dink
Sniff sniff?
Yeah, you’re familiar with that term, lol
When Norman was out…Dunbar was put in to cover the corner.
They left Fuller in the slot for a reason.
Now, say we lose Breeland to FA. Which certainly is possible. Who fills that position? Dunbar? Moreau? Which one of them goes to the slot?
Sure, we’ve got the bodies…but that’s two guys that play outside. Either way, be it FA or moving someone on the roster to the slot, we’re highly likely going to see a drop off at the position.
End of the world? No. However…
the Next Champ Bailey: Joshua Holsey
I’m not looking for a slot guy, I’m looking for a dime back.
Trump just gave you that in your paycheck
nickleback
quarterback
Eh, my taxes went up quite a lot in the end. Just did them last night. A bonus my boss gave me moved me up a bracket, just enough where I make less due to it.
Does anyone have confidence in Dunbar? I do. Hosley? I do. Breeland? Sure, if we sign him, I do. Moreau? I do.
And of course Norman, hell yes I do.
The cupboard is far from bare. Jesus tap dancing Christ people.
We have a solution at QB who can help us win games!
F Kendall Jenner!
Love Dunbar and Norman. Breeland is avg. No clue about Moreau
I agree on all of them, but don’t think they bring back Breeland, as much as I like him, it seems the staff doesn’t.
Bree is an odd bird, but he’s good. Better than most peeps think.
His play though, can be as erratic as his behavior.
Fine. Bye. Don’t care. The point is we have players who have played well in that position.
So, Steve brought this to my attention late yesterday. Someone had a glorious meltdown on our youtube page yesterday regarding our show. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/cfc96f5ed9d7a6afbecdbf6261a01a464bddbc8330c8bc243368526895821244.png
It’s rare that such a great meltdown gets seen. So worth sharing.
Dude needs a life.
I’d like to climb out of mediocre or worse…been too long since we were truly relevant.
We are always relevant this time of year.
Very good point NPI!
I think we are gonna get there. We went from “worse to worst” to “mediocre or worse”, now we need to take another step.
Upwards
my optimism vibe is running low today fellas, sorry…i’ll pick it up again!
“Cousins singing failure”
Didn’t know that his singing was an issue. Well, good riddance, then.

“ooooooooooooooooweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee”
Looks like he squeezed cheese and then expressed his relief!
Wow, Kirk’s wife really went off.
Fanatical? Yes! Dare I say he’s/she’s right on many points? Mediocrity sucks and we’ve been stuck there for far too long. Please, somehow field a winning team.
everything was going so well until about 4 minutes to go in the Saints game
we were very resilient this year and I give credit to Gruden for holding it together with so many injuries
Vent session
It happens
what has to happen to make this trade considered success? Playoff appearance? 1 playoff win? Super bowl or nothing?
A playoff win is progress, realistically.
Santana Moss would have to say it’s great.
Win opening day
I’d start with getting back into the playoffs. It will also be a success if the Redskins have winning seasons while grooming a capable replacement. Would love for Alex Smith to have 3 back-to-back winning seasons. Going deep into the playoffs or SB requires a complete team effort.
My expectations are lower. I just want to see progress towards a well balanced, competitive every week team. I think the FO has overestimated how ‘close’ the roster is, but has the entire off-season to make upgrades.
they traded for a QB and gave up zero 1st and zero 2nd round picks.
Success!
Low bar
Anyone noticing a bump in their paychecks yet? Mrs. Austin saw a small increase today.
Yeah
Small but good
TGIF
Groundhog day
Talib…….Sherman……Peterson………..
Fuller?
See how dumb that sounds?
Talib was part of Denver’s push, but that’s not a big deal because they’d prob have to cut him to sign a QB anyway
It only sounds dumb if you’re ignorant. Fuller is 22 years old and played better than Talib and Sherman last year. Before Fuller, when was the last time the Redskins drafted a CB who actually turned out to be better than pretty good? To the best of my recollection it was 18 years ago, when we drafted Champ Bailey. So as much as you FO brown nosers want to bury your mugs in BA’s ass, the truth is that we seem to draft blue chip CBs about once a generation, and we just dealt one for an old, expensive QB who isn’t an upgrade over what we had before.
Im not going so far as to put Fuller in their category just yet. But Andy Reid has it right. If you can get a young talent that seems to have the potential and upward trajectory on the cheap you do it. The slot corner position is soooo difficult to fill and he realized that. To think we can easily find a replacement with our history is laughable.
Redskins were deep at CB, relatively speaking as assets go
Redskins were not deep at starting QB
Chiefs had a surplus at QB
There you go. Basic economics. There’s nothing more to this than that. We all wish it were Cravens.
We aren’t quality deep at any position.
Maybe OLB as Moe always pimps. Above average DBs are a bit rarer
“Before Fuller, when was the last time the Redskins drafted a CB who actually turned out to be better than pretty good?”
Breeland
You’re literally delusional.
We will replace Fuller. I would not have hesitated for a nanosecond if moving Fuller helped the TEAM by stabilizing our QB position.
Wake up and smell the coffee son.
You trade the CB for a quality three year starter QB. It was probably our second best option.
We needed a solution at QB. The FO fucked it up with Cousins. So, they found a competent starter for the next 2-3 years. They probably knew they they weren’t able to get one of the top QB prospects, so anyone they draft would be developmental (or they weren’t willing to invest the draft capital to move up to get one).
Can’t believe we let go of the second coming of Darrell Green!

This is your Fuller replacement. He may even turn out better.
might be the Breeland replacement
Ride that jock.
The actual highlight tape of Fabian is good, the Stanford game itself doesn’t really show him doing much.
So you base play on highlights? I picked a respectable opponent. I mock drafted Moreau at least 15 times last year.
He’s still shellshocked from your nonstop mockery
I have a file full of them, you’ve been spared, trust me.
No
We have no plans
Can’t you just try and understand that
Who the fuck are you talking to?
You
We traded fuller all is chaos
You’re shit simple, dude. You knew fuck-all about Fabian Moreau until this week, and it shows. You didn’t know his back story, who he played for, his draft projection, nothing. I posted a video that some of us watched last year for peeps to check him out. Save that weak ass game for someone else, douchebag.
that escalated quickly
Nah, dude has nothing to say but straight bullshit. Peeps don’t like losing Fuller, that video has nothing to do with Fuller. Moving forward.
Lighten up chief
Don’t like my responses block me
Nice work with the insults
Shows who you really are
Just gettin’ down on your level, slick. The day I run from the likes of you will be my last day. I thought we sorted this out yesterday, guess not.
Yeah because I insulted you
Right
Again block me if you don’t like it
Lol, not a chance. You just went with your go-to post, and missed the point.
Lol,right
I’ve been saying for two days this stuff about FMoreau
I remember a lot of questions. Requests for comparison, questions like “didn’t we get a deal on Moreau?”
We’re where we’re at. Guys are asking about him, I post a clip of some college tape (doesn’t have any Skins tape) and you come with the bullshit.
You misinterpreted what I was saying and then decided to attack me with insults
Class
I can get right down there with ya, Greg.
Right because you’re misinterpreting what I said
Gotcha
“No
We have no plans
Can’t you just try and understand that”
“You
We traded fuller all is chaos”
It’s not about Fuller, moving forward. Fuller is gone, for better or for worse.
Was that Harrison Phillips I spotted on Stanford’s sideline?
From Tandler:
“There is nothing happening on the Su’a Cravens front. It still seems highly unlikely that he will ever play for the Redskins again. The way he departed, texting his fellow defensive backs a week before the season started, broke the trust that is vital among teammates. Certainly, his relations with the coaching staff and front office are damaged as well, probably beyond repair. He will officially be back on the roster on Monday. The Redskins could cut him immediately, but I would be surprised if they didn’t try to get something in a trade. He’s a talented player and he still has three years left on his rookie deal. A fair deal for him would be a 2019 fourth-round pick that can improve to a third if Cravens meets some roster and performance benchmarks.”
First line says it all…
Of course there’s nothing happening on the front, when it comes to Suzy, the party’s in the back.
Suzy and Mia as a packaged deal has got to be good for multiple picks.
A cupcake and some beef curtains……..meh.
Meat flaps
Yeah
Ain’t no one trading for a quitter
Thanks Scot
LOL
Cravens handled that poorly. But anyone who gets concussed so badly that he can’t track moving objects without special glasses should consider hanging them up.
And you actually believe that happened?
they should send Cravens out in a Fuller jersey
Just because
Go watch “To Kill a Mockingbird”
It’s worth a rewatching
Married? Wife like to cook?
Get her an insta-pot. She’s gonna love it
And you will also
aka an electronic pressure cooker
I read the book in like 9th grade and then watched the movie like 20 years later when it was called “Green Mile.”
You can read To Kill A Mockingbird in less time than it takes to watch The Green Mile.
The Green Mile is nothing like to kill a mocking bird. This comment makes no sense.

“Bruce Allen leaves Redskins to join the Bucaneers!”
-Giddy Redskins fans
That would be good news!
xxx
“Vinny Cerrato will replace him under the title President of Football Operations and Managing General of Pro Football, Inc.”
He’s hovering around somewhere out there.
Since the Alex Smith Trade can’t be finalized until March 14, is there a possibility that the announcement of this trade is designed to give the Redskins some leverage in negotiations in the event that Kirk might want to sign a LTD?
I certainly don’t think this is the case, but the thought crossed my mind last night.
Imagine Stone Cold Steve Austin … he’s just given the Stone Cold Stunner to his opponent. He gets up on the turnbuckle, gives two fingers in the air (1 on each hand) to the crowd, then smashes two beers together and shotguns them while standing over his opponent, taunting him.
In this theater, Stone Cold is played by Bruce Allen. Kirk Cousins is the opponent.
And that’s the bottom line. Cause Bruce Allen said so!
Are imagining a scenario where we have to high priced QBs? Or, are you thinking that the FO is using Smith against Cousins and would renege on the trade if they can?
the Skins would simultaneous **** off Agents, Teams, and the NFLPA.
the only thing left with Kirk is whether or not they will FT him, and that prob only happens if they let Kirk talk to other teams right now, then the package is complete and some minimal compensation comes the Redskins way. If it were Denver, prob might be something like swapping 2nd round picks and a performance based 2019 pick.
It would be murky, but the deal isn’t finalized.
Any way, KSFTG. Good riddance.

Can we get Gibbs back ? The only over 30 QB SB coach
Rich Gannon?
Point is few and far between.

Matt Ryan 1st Qb in ages if not ever ( by memory / not googe) .to reach 1st Super Bowl past age 30… Maybe Smith is the 2nd.. at least this decade.
There in lies the delimma of retreading a QB. Young bucks way more likely fo ascend vs the ‘older’ plateaued ones.
98 % more likely…
Doug Williams was 32
Decades ago. Good pull. Without Gibbs…ringless
And so Ryan only the 2nd one…thats telling.

Dilfer was 28
Thx. I can never remember his name.

All the D.C. media keep throwing shade at the FO for ‘bungling ‘ the Cousins contracts situation. Smith or no Smith Skins need to find a closer and obviously Kirk wasnt one. Thats the bottom line these folks cant admit too. Paulsen tops the list.

Good morning, and how’s my favorite paleontologist doing today? Good, I hope.
Fine then, go suck an egg.
Great, thanks!
Poona is gonna make it, I’m just messin’ with you.
I’ll have fun being devastated if we don’t land him.
I’ll support you in that endeavor.
Doug Williams had been, according to Doc, flying around the country checking out college QBs and is the guy who, apparently, went after Smith.
Did he not like any college QB coming out this year? Still going to draft one this year? Likes what he’s see next year more than this year?
I’m always optimistic that my negative view of the FO will be shattered.
maybe just due diligence, Smith trade or not.
Sweet class. But giving up 2 players in trade prob closes that door.
need a fast-forward button ’til next season. if the ‘Skins have a good FA and draft, and don’t get absolutely slaughtered by injuries again, this team might be ready to make a dent. it’s not hopeless like it has been a lot of the time in the last 20 years.
We need some good news today, something like “Zach Brown signs with Redskins for 7.5 “, because he feels like Bruce has more of a plan then people could possibly imagine.
It’d be great for the two sides to meet in the middle. This hardline stuff is get’n old.
Yeah, last I heard, they were talking but Brown was still high and Bruce was still low.
and yeah, I copy/pasted that lol
that would be great, but don’t think much else will start kicking until league-wide FA starts.
Yeah, last I heard, they were talking but Brown was still high and Bruce was still low.
Of course
Lol
“Bruce Allen leaves Redskins to join the Bucaneers!”
-Giddy Redskins fans
That would be good news!
Tampa hates Bruce, the Tampa love you see is all of his other banished children rallying to the flag.
Why do they hate him?
Because he, and Jon Gruden, dismantled the Superbowl champion team that Dungy built and returned them to mediocrity.
Mediocrity, sounds familiar under his leadership. And one of his biggest supporters up here even said our front office is average and he’s fine with that LOL
ZB won’t be signed until either just before or after free agency begins.
Yeah Fred, just throwing pebbles at the bucket.
I learned something about you last night, unless of course you were trolling. Busy time of year for you. What good news from the Redskins would you like to hear, today, hypothetically, no strings, just say it……?
Not trolling. Busy time coming up. 2 days cruising back to Miami then 75 day grind.
Good luck and may you do well.
Happy Friday!

Rotating on Earth’s axis at approximately 868 mph, the morning comes around quick
And now….coffee
Morning k0n, may your coffee heal you, and help to restore what hope you have left, into a positive light.
I’m good man. Thanks for that though.
Just remember that you’re standing on a planet that’s evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour,
That’s orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it’s reckoned,
A sun that is the source of all our power.
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour,
Of the galaxy we call the ‘Milky Way’.
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars.
It’s a hundred thousand light years side to side.
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick,
But out by us, it’s just three thousand light years wide.
We’re thirty thousand light years from galactic central point.
We go ’round every two hundred million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe.
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that’s the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you’re feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there’s intelligent life somewhere up in space,
‘Cause there’s bugger all down here on Earth.
Thanks
what acquiring Smith does is buy time to keep building, while getting competent, athletic play from the QB position, at at least a slight savings from what the previous starter would have cost. i still don’t like that part of the cost was a seemingly up-and-coming young defensive back, but it’s a decent bet that Dunbar and Moreau can step up. not the end of the world, by any means.
The previous starter wasn’t going to be here anyway.
That’s the general consensus of people not suckling from Bruce’s swollen teat.
There are some guys on here that flip more than a pile of hash browns on a Waffle House grill.
Your only supposed to flip it once.
My apologies to the grill man.
Trading Fuller is not putting a dent in the future I mean good lord the guy had 1 good year and you guys have him in the HOF’m.
Well, it’s always easy to sit back and criticize the apparent flaws of a deal or a move. The question is what the Redskins should have done (or even moreso – “could have”) done if they passed on this deal.
71 mil guaranteed may feel like “alot” right now, but just wait until FA gets moving and we see what kind of $$ Cousins and Garappolo pull in. Then the cap will jump up as well. Sure, the Skins had to pay to get out of the hole they dug themselves into with this situation too, but we knew that would be the case with ANY deal at this point. Smith may be old on paper, but he’s not lost a step and just came off his best season.
Kendall Fuller is a really nice young player. But, IMO, one nice season does not establish you in the league. He could be a future #1 CB…or he could fade. As you said, 22 is young and the presumption that he’ll only improve is a presumption, whereas you know what floor your are getting with A.Smith, and the floor is pretty solid at the most important position on your team.
I’m wondering how people would feel if it leaked that the Skins had an opportunity to lock up Smith by trading Fuller and a 3rd, but passed. And then the draft and FA slogged on with more Kirk-drama and a giant question mark hanging around the organization.
You can’t judge a deal like this in a vacuum; you have to evaluate it based on “what better/worse deals are out there?” And we don’t know that. The Skins did not trade a 3rd and Fuller for Smith, they traded a 3rd and Fuller for greater certainty.
The question should be, “what the Redskins should have done (even moreso “could have”) done to AVOID having to make this deal.
Where’s the “floor” when your position spouts “build through the draft” then, for whatever reason, puts themselves in a position to expend an extremely positive gainer because of missteps and fumblings on what should have been critical path? The deal was a reaction, not an action, and that is fact.
The nice thing about this site is that the “content” is just people from the old Washington post site typing bad informations and ideas. So there is no reason to read the actual post- you can comfortably just jump Down…To the comment section.
TBF, this post is the opposing viewpoint to the earlier thread, and yeah, it’s much better that posts put forth by children of WaPo that actually went to school for journalism and receive monetary compensation for their 2nd hand opinion. The Redskins don’t talk to the Washington Post, let’s be real about it, eh?
tons better than anything the old place put out, Bullock breakdowns aside.
Yeah, his are few and far between. They may work something out, never know.
Kelly-
I strenuously disagree with your comment below. This team – sans massive injuries can beat anyone in the league.
That means they are a contender.
Continuity- building through the draft..adding good FAs – it’s all there. Smith is equipped to do this.
Sounds great. Looking forward to seeing it happen.
Me too. I’ve been in Santa Teresa Costa Rica for the last month so maybe the “Pura Vida” is clouding my judgement. I’ll weigh in after I return to reality!
Lol, classic. This is straight outta the “what the fuck” meeting with ownership.
Well we did have New Orleans and KC pretty much beat and that was with all our injuries. If Kirk could run a sneak we beat New Orleans.
Meh…if Alex Smith saves the day, great. In the complete scope of things, you’ve been paying a “title loan” rate, for average to below average total return.
Has anyone seen the preview of the new M&M’s commercial with Danny Devito? I saw a snippet of it and it looks hilarious.
Nope
Devito plays the roll of an m&m.I’ll leave you with that.
He certainly is the right size and shape
Possibly your best comment ever. Not really but that was funny.
BIG MAN WITH A HORN !
Love that commercial.
We’ve all got places to go. WE’VE ALL GOT PLACES TO GO!!!
My favorite commercial out right now
I also liked the one with the triangle solo.
We were all over that one, too.
The one with the penguins is funny also.
New season of Swamp People started tonight . All is right with the world again .
Did they find kons outlook buried out there?
I gotta say , mine’s pretty shitty too. Gotta get over it though . Dude is gone .
That dude is like someone took a giant shit in whatever high sugar breakfast cereal he eats.
Stop projecting eh
While you’re at, do something besides being a typical contrarian
You should stick to your blah diddy blah blah defense… it’s the most intelligent thing you’ve said in weeks
Okay
As long as it shuts you up. I’ll do it.
Sure… you got all the facts boss.
I think Alex Smith has a few good years left in him. But I don’t understand why the Redskins were willing to part with Fuller and a pick to get him. It would absolutely make sense to me if the team was a solid QB away from a deep playoff run, but that’s completely not the case.
There are a bunch of FA QBs coming up who the Skins could have grabbed and not made deep playoff runs with – without putting a dent in their future.
Now… if Alex Smith somehow becomes a guy who puts a team deep in the playoffs (which he hasn’t been, even with better rosters than the Redskins), then I’ll eat my words, but I just can’t find a way to see this as a good trade for the Redskins.
All that said, of course, I hope I’m wrong and that Bruce and Doug and Jay and whoever have just hit on some magical combination of players, and that the Redskins are playing in January sometime before 2021, but I just don’t see how anyone could have thought this trade was a good idea for this team.
Bruce is overestimating the quality of a fully healthy Redskins team. Plain as that
That’s a perfect way to describe it. I wish I had said it .
Like he did in 2014 when we went 4 – 12
He’s Bruce… what do you expect? He’s an arrogant prick incapable of admitting that anything he does is sub par… even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary
Hence the need for pain, which brings us back to the question, expensive to whom?
Could be expensive to Bruce if he is canned.
Nah, he’s got plenty of money. Only thing he’d miss was the power.
And I’m sure he’ll find that power back in Tampa, or in Oakland, or wherever. He’s a politician at heart, he’ll land in a cushy spot.
Seems like we agree.
Vegas
It’s a bad trade. An upside down trade. A we got fleeced and grabbed our ankles trade. And every justification I’ve read for why it’s good…is a reach.
And the money. I mean. Year three of this thing and we’re looking at a $24m backup. Followed by a nasty dead cap hit.
For a guy prior this one good season he just had was usually ranked around 20th in the league.
However, it is what it is. That is to say….typical shit show by the FO. But fuck it. Keep our fingers x’d that some good things come out of FA and the draft.
You can’t say anything about the money yet without having seen the actual contract. Some of the rumors are that this is a 2 year deal with the full $70m amount ONLY guaranteed for injury. How many times have we seen these contracts leaked and then they were something very different?
Letting go of Fuller wasn’t bright at all. A 3rd rounder for a 34 year old QB while we are more than a QB away? Not smart either. But you need to come off the ledge…
I’m in the middle of a plateau. Under a tree. Sipping on reality.
You are spinning conclusions with only Twitter suppositions.
No I’m not. But whatever.
You’ve already decided that we are going to eat years of dead cap space… based on what? Twitter… that’s what
I….don’t….twitter
It’s cool though. Alex Smith is coming here for a two year deal. Or some shit you heard.
That’s right… you talked to the agents. You didn’t get it from someone that heard it from Adam Schefter on Twitter. And of course Adam Schefter has never been wrong. It’s really simple, but you have your head firmly inserted in a dark cloud… it’s entirely possible that what you think you know… is wrong.
Blah-diddy-blah-blah-blah
…and as usual now your head is firmly inserted in your ass. Have fun smelling like shit.
Okay
The last guy I saw under a tree like that was bleeding out with a bag of money at his feet.
Agreed

I’m not a believer in heaven either, but if I was, I wouldn’t be sporting that avatar.
God forgives.
Ha !
The nuns at the Catholic school I went to would tell you that God doesn’t forgive if you keep doing things you know are sinful… but then they also told me that God thinks condoms are a terrible idea, so…
Condoms DO suck… so they weren’t wrong
Did they give you any advice for a person who has a twisted mind, a person that knows better but he is twisted and had a childhood of terror and abuse and just can’t get himself right?
No…. is there something you need to talk about?

“I’d shoot it”, he replied
“Where would you get the gun?” asked the shrink, curiosity aroused

Hmm… Buffalo has 2 first-round picks and 2 second round picks, and a need at QB…
Would Skins fans be happy trading:
-Redskins R1P13 for
-Bills R1P21 and R2P23?
Yes – BC
Depends who is on the board when 13 comes around.
Then there’s the likelihood of the FO bungling the picks. Prolly end up in a panic and reach for two day two guys.
Oh, hmm. R2.
You sure are a negative Nancy this offseason
You’d think he’d be overwhelmed with joy at the news that Kirk was leaving.
I’ve got zero faith in this FO crew. My only hope is that somehow Doug Williams is able to act as some sort of counteragent to whatever Bruce has brought to the franchise.
They were fapping some other kind of fantasy last night
I keep reading that the Redskins have given a 4th round pick over 40mil. and are letting him walk without getting anything in return.I do not agree. This is what they got in return.
2016- games16 pass att.606 pass comp.406 4,917yds. 25td’s 12int’s qbr.97.2
2017- games16 pass att.540 pass comp.347 4,093yds. 27td’s 13int’s qbr93.9
They also got a lot of fumbles and fuck ups along the way with Kirk at inopportune times that really hurt his chances for a LTD. Some “you like that” and pouting and needing reassurance along the way and I just think it was time for Gruden to get his own type of QB and let the boy go.They are getting something for KC, an expensive lesson.
It’s the best outcome for all to cut losses and get a guy who fits better and A.Smith does.
Expensive to whom?
It was expensive to the Redskins… and about to be expensive for whomever pays Kirk $30+
His employer.Of course expensive is a relative term.
But was it really?
In the grand scheme of things, maybe not.Maybe they didn’t think they got what they paid for and it was time to cut bait.
So maybe “they” haven’t learned a lesson. Maybe the can just got kicked a few years down the road. It’s hard to say.
I’m not sure Bruce is humble enough to learn any lessons
Not without pain
Well we will just have to see what the season holds. They might just be patching things up for a year or two until they blow the whole dam thing sky high.
I don’t think that’s the case. There are at least two people that need to have something to show for the past few seasons. They need something now.
So when people say that the Redskins aren’t getting any compensation for Kirk Cousins, it doesn’t meant that the guy didn’t play any games. The Chiefs, for example, are getting a talented young CB and a third round pick as compensation for Alex Smith. The Redskins at best will get a 3rd round pick if it turns out the NFL feels like what the Skins lost in total via free agency was significantly better than what they acquired in total via FA.
The Patriots got a second round pick for Garoppolo… who, by the way, would have been an excellent player for the Redskins to have targeted.
The Dolphins got a 4th round pick for Jay Ajayi. Hell, we got a 7th round pick for Derek Carrier.
For Cousins, who turned out to be a mid-round gem… yeah, we got a lesson. I don’t know how many lessons we need to learn under BA’s watch before he’s asked to spend more time hanging out in his shorefront mansion, but I wish it would happen already.
Dilly Dilly!
The compensation for KC is Alex Smith and that is way more than KC is worth,IMHO.
There are no humble opinions here
I meant honest…
Nothing about this place is honest either
But “they” are paying money, a draft pick, a draft pick that was paying dividends, and wasted time, for Alex Smith.
You don’t think Smith will pay dividends?
Sure, as a fan I always want our players to be successful. I believe Jay’s, and maybe Bruce’s jobs depend on it. That reveals another question. How critical is it to them, in the grand scheme of things, to remain employees of Dan Snyder?
I think it is very important to Jay, but Bruce is stuck in Dans head like a bad song.
These coaches bounce around the league. You gotta be a real jackass to get shutout. Jay hasn’t fucked up enough for no other team to not buy into a dream with him. The thing that’s important to Jay, is to win.
If Jay can’t get this shit straight here he’ll be back to OC somewhere… but not HC
But you can’t say that with certainty.
Sure I can. I pay attention
Sure
Sure
Sure, double sure, no sure backs.
I’m sureber your glue whatever you sure bounces off of me and sures to you
Lol
Honestly , I don’t think he has enough parts around him .
I agree and think they don’t have much time to put a lot around him.He is getting a little long in the tooth.
Explain to me how 70 million in guaranteed money and the departure of Kendall Fuller is compensation for not signing KC .
Some times compensation is a negative when you make bad decisions with your money. In other words, you don’t get compensation for being foolish by paying a QB that much when he clearly isn’t worth it.
So you are saying they should have never spent 40 million plus dollars on a 4th round pick , because it was foolish ? Is that correct ?
That and he clearly wasn’t worth it.
So we are back to the original premise . The FO screwed up.
It took me awhile to get there, huh?
We agree on that part , just not the way they did it .
In. No. Way. Is Alex Smith the compensation the Redskins are getting for KC. Alex Smith is the compensation they’re getting for Fuller and a 3rd. KC was a good player who was mishandled.
Bullshit . He didn’t get a LTD , because he didn’t want one .
Hilarious

It’s like you finally got that divorce, and people keep talking about your ex.
So let me see if I understand this right my itemized deductions were less than 24,000 and since next year the standard deduction goes up to 24,000 does that mean I should just take that instead of doing any itemizing? Also does you mortgage interest count as an itemized deduction?
It means, this year, get a CPA.
I use one every year, for the signature and tax #, if you know what I mean. It’s important to have a good team.
Please I use turbo tax my taxes are easy.
Lol – IRS agent
IRS agents aren’t worried about my piddly refund.
Keep it that way.
We have a woman we give $80 a year. She takes care of *everything*. Got me $3000 more back this year than what I had figured out on my own.
Holy shit . Wow .
Its worth it.
80 bucks is nothing . H and R block is about 300 bucks .
She’s based in Maryland. I can ask her if she’s looking for clients.
I go to a private person now but it’s not 80 bucks . Little higher .
She use to work for Block
right on
Yes, mortgage interest is part of itemized deductions. If they’re less than the new standard deduction there’s no point in itemizing.
I’ve always done my own taxes except last year when I had a bunch of whacky shit to deal with.
So I would just take the 24,000 and actually get more back that’s nice.
you must be rich flounder because that’s all I hear that Trump’s tax plan only favors the rich but it sounds like it’s favoring you as well
Pay stubs went out to all my employees for pay day tomorrow. They were pretty happy
I would really like to make the tax code something so simple that we would put all CPAs out of business at least for the retail consumer
That’s what Trump promised. instead it’s going to be even more complicated.
No it isn’t
he promised to reduce our taxes too, and he’s done that. Baby steps
Sure, but he actually promised that it would mostly benefit working, middle class folks, and that was a whopper.
to the average American household a savings of a couple thousand dollars means so much more than Millionaires and billionaires even if they save thousands and thousands of dollars. It’s insignificant candidly the Billionaire’s but a family of four having 2,000 extra dollars is huge
I agree, which is why the family of four SHOULD be getting $4,000 and the .1% shouldn’t get a tax cut at all.
that’s an opinion, not fact
clearly. Also what Trump promised.
$2000 over the course of the year might be a big deal to someone below the poverty line…
for the middle, it’s not much.
Meanwhile, thanks to the tax bill, the wealthy are hording even more of the economy than they already were. And that’s the problem.
Come 2027, when your taxes freak out….remember Trump
Hook, line, and sinker
Please
Because we all know those tax cuts won’t *really* expire. We’ll just borrow another trillion dollars to extend them.
I agree
Frediefritz, CPA
Nah, most people will get a little break. it’s just that the wealthy and corporations are getting a BIG break.
And of course, none of it is paid for.
“None of it it paid for”… spoken like a guy who believe all money belongs to the government and not the people who actually earned it.
Spoken like a guy who doesn’t think an already terrible national debt problem should be made even worse just to make a bunch of millionaires and billionaires even richer.
Spoken like a man that can’t think of one government program to cut… just complains about things that the Democrats told him to complain about
Not at all! I’m all for cutting military spending.
What? You can’t cut defense contracts. That’s jobs. Or, something.
No but my itemized deductions don’t add up to 24,000 which is the new standard deduction.
Done doing the taxes thank the lord.
Sucks . I owe and I know it . Dreading it.
Yeah it’s like the yearly fucking pain in the ass.
Have you ever seen Alex Smiths wife ? Smokin
No but I’m getting ready to look her up.
I agree she is very hot.
She is/was a Raiders cheerleader, how cool is that?

Just read the Madden 06 article. It’s not far off a typical new-gen console development experience for annual titles. They have to get something out that takes advantage of completely unknown technology, and they have to do it in the same timeframe that they normally do a standard annual release. It’s next to impossible.
If you want to read up something fun, look up what happened with NBA Live 13, I think it was. That’s a good story.
I found the stuff about stadium detail amazing
Some folks love Kirk Cousins so much that they’ve convinced themselves that Alex Smith is just “ok” and a “step back” from Kirk. A few months ago, they were slobbin’ Alex Smith….now he’s just ok.

——————————
A perfect summary of how the Redskins managed the QB position from 2012 till now.
Also, not interested in the “his agent wouldn’t negotiate, so the FO were victims” line. His agents will be doing plenty of negotiating. If they are all in for negotiating with other teams and not the Redskins, maybe the Redskins need to look at why they aren’t an attractive option for the players they draft.
Did you see the rolling stone piece about the creation of Madden 06? It came out today i think.
No I haven’t – what was it about?
You picked up on that, lol. Winner!

Yah. lol
A whole bunch of posturing.
I hope it’s chaos
It really does appear to be much ado about nothing, and dishonest at that. Carter Page had been on the FBI’s radar for years, given his contacts with Russians who were either intelligence agents associated with Russian intelligence. That, in and of itself, is enough to justify a FISA warrant.
What we should be talking about is Nunes, who’s duty it is to investigate the WH, instead colluding with the WH to undermine the FBI.
I find it interesting that there is no mention of the Alex Smith trade on the official Redskins website or twitter page.
Not officially announced till Mar 14
Okay, so it’s an unofficial agreement then?
Basically, yes. The veritable “agreement in principle”.
Tjey have a month and a half to still mess this up
It’s because the trade can’t be official yet. We haven’t received a press release about it yet, either.
would be funny if they meant to trade Cravens, so they’re confused as all get out right about now by the reports
I can’t image Cravens’ trade value is more than a snack-size bag of Doritos.
^Offbrand.
“great value”, Walmart
I know, so the scene at the Park would be lots of high fives and “I can’t BELIEVE we just pulled that off!”
and then the social media reports come in
wait, did we put the wrong jersey number on the contract?
jersey number?!!
that’s not how this works! that’s not how any of this works!!!
*Three Stooges slaps all around*
That is 3 months out of date.
Bruce Allen has been there long enough by now to have made a positive impact if he were going to do so. I mean I wish she would I wish she had the ability but I’m not going to be Fooled Again. He does not have what it takes obviously nor does he have the power to hire someone that does have what it takes evidently.
LIAR!!!!!! BLASPHEMER!!!! OUR FRONT OFFICE IS INFALLIBLE!!!!
-BTG and Flounder
Go back and read my draft analysis and my free agency analysis. Bruce has done plenty wrong, but he’s also had more success than many people will give him credit for.
Does Bruce take responsibility for the mishandling of Cousins since 2015?
Bruce doesn’t take responsibility for anything. It’s a character flaw.
^So true. I’m just saying that he’s getting credit for some good moves, but he also has to own the largest blunder (since RGIII).
So the argument is that at the end of the division-winning 2015 season, the Skins should have offered Cousins franchise money on a long term deal?
I think the trouble with that was, they (the FO) saw him a lot like people see Alex Smith. they had put weapons around him etc., but still needed more as, you know, the Green Bay playoff loss wasn’t a great performance by Cousins. they WANTED him to be their QB, but they were thinking about building a great team around a solid QB, while Cousins thought they were building around a elite-potential franchise QB. and even in 2017, the Skins didn’t want to set the new Standard with Kirk Cousins.
They offered him 412.5mm/year; KC countered with $16mm, which was certainly reasonable under the circumstances. You fully guarantee three years, that’s $48mm – Oh wait, that’s just slightly more than the two years of F tags. The office also knew that unless KC had a crappy year in 2016, they would keep on the roster in 2017, so really they knew they were going to end up paying him at least $40mm over two years.
The FO fucked up.
412.5 mm sounds big, but it’s really only about 1′ 4 ¼”
Completely normal and efficient business model .
One of many
When he got here, Jim Zorn was the head coach
It was probably a mistake to allow Shanahan to split GM duties with Bruce, which is prob “on” Bruce, but prob thought it was necessary to get a good coach after the Zorn fiasco, and well, a long line of Vinny – Snyder fails.
whether or not capgate should have been a thing is debate-able
2012 trade. who is to blame for that?
hired Gruden
hired Scot
fired Scot
Scot as GM seems to be not a great move, but hiring him as a consultant seemed to be a good one.
the last draft seemed solid
So for me the problem is, where does the GM end and Bruce begin? Bruce has been GM for what, 1 year, and otherwise has split those duties?
So we’re better under Bruce, but is that going to be good enough going forward? Probably won’t really be examined again until Jay gets canned.
Whelp… he’s the man now… no power sharing. It’s all on his head from last year to this.
actually, he is sharing power with folks like Doug Williams, they’ve decentralized the roles that would otherwise be under a more traditional GM arrangement
though, he’s the President, so if you want to argue about where the buck stops…
Doug Williams has no real authority. Everyone knows that
I know Belichik has won a bunch of SB’s but winning 11 games in Cleveland was very impressive.
The Two Bills is on tonight media members are saying its the best 30 for 30 so far.
Thanks
I watch a drone video of St,. Martin a couple of weeks back that showed Orient Bay where we have gone a bunch of times over the years
all the bars and places to eat that were beach-side, the concrete pad was all that was left
the hotels are still there but the insides have to be replaced, new carpets/floors & furniture
a lot of them are just big concrete boxes so clean’em out, paint them and restock the guts
I’ve got a high school friend that’s over there right now helping with the island cleanup. Showing the pics on Facebook. Wrecked.
Unlike the our Government, the British know how to repair things after a disaster.
====================================================
it’s not a matter of government, it’s a matter of how fast you can construct things in some cases
the problem with Puerto Rico started with Puerto Rico and the corrupt government who squandered money when times were good and did nothing to harden the infrastructure despite being warned
then the economy went south and they had no money to do anything and are essentially bankrupt
but the expectation is that the federal government is suppose to fix everything better than new in 30 days or less
ask Buck what the lead time on some of the power delivery equipment is, sometimes it is 6-12 months and that’s why power companies plan upgrades months and years in advance
Or…. don’t upgrade for years and get totally fucked when a big storm hits, end up trading for some used equipment from Missouri.
That’s a monumental task . Its staggering and overwhelming . The entire grid needs to be rebuilt .
Yeah
To the subject, AP got their ass handed to them out here after the derecho.
I’m sure there’s a contractor or two getting rich from it . Probably all kinds of shady shit going on.
but there is no excuse for the tepid FEMA response that took too long get humanitarian help where it was really needed
the rule is, if you don’t ask, FEMA doesn’t deliver
so, like Katrina, if you have a local/state/territorial gov that doesn’t have their stuff together, well…
^Exactly if you elect shitheads for gov/mayor/etc
you get what you deserve
It was silly for anyone to think that the feds were going to step in and fix Puerto Rico in a matter of weeks when all of the infrastructure and the utility grid was destroyed. That was always just anti-Trump bashing.
Shawn Springs said the loss of Fuller can easily be made up for
He might know something about this subject
Last night on Redskins 100?
Came up on my news feed
I’m pretty sure Chik and the gang talked to him yesterday, also.
BMitch said the opposite .
He’s pissed. I think BMitch would fuck Bruce up if he saw him in a dark alley somewhere.
Yeah , he was fired up.
Springs might know more about this subject?
I would think so , yes.
Swearinger didn’t seem to think so, and he might be a little closer to it than Sean Springs.
…but is he objective?
He all but admitted he wasn’t
I think his initial reaction was genuine and his, “on second thought” reaction was PC.
Once you’ve lost your mind showing your bias can you ever be considered objective on that subject?
Not sure what you’re referring to. He never said he changed his mind about anything. It was more like, “water under the bridge — we’re going to be top 5 no matter who our players are.” Seems more like wishful thinking than objectivity.
Santana Moss said something similar on the Fan yesterday

Jost Van Dyke Island, BVI Alex. End of story. It is very expensive, and worth every cent
It was one of the things we planed to do when down there. But we were gonna stay in Road Town, (family member has a house down there)
Awesome…
Wife uncle died in a golfing accident in NJ
underbid a connected construction company
two guys showed up a his construction trailer
and beat him to death with a couple of long irons
worst golfing accident ever
True story?
yes actually was a friend of mine not my wife’s uncle
and he got the word, but it went down something like this
his real bid was to be for something like $8M but then mob company was going to bid $9M
so he made his bid like $9.5M, but the mob guy changed his mind at the last minute and submitted $10M bid but 2 companies had already submitted bids under $10M
so he got all pissed and whacked the friend’s uncle, but then the DiMeo guys figured out what went south and whacked him, then they bought the uncle’s firm for big $$ to make it to the family
Usually, before they kll you, they ask you politely not to bid on a project or to place a high bid (and then if you go ahead and low bid, well then you had it coming).
As a Sicilian I can relate
@alex35332:disqus Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun
I suggested Cozumel because I think there are fewer drug killings, but I can’t verify that
I mean, anywhere I go there will be at least a few drug killings.
On your way to Cape May, you can stop by that Denny’s in Vineland, NJ.
LOL
just say you’re with El Grande Blanco
that’s how they know me down there
I had fun in Cancun , but if I was twenty years younger and capable of drinking all day and night , it would have been a blast . Huge younger crowd there . That’s not a bad thing .
Went to the Club Med there for a week last year with wife and then two year old. Only reliable resort with a kid’s club for 2 year olds. It was awesome. Pretty expensive, though. Beautiful property.
We are talking about an all inclusive depends on when our trip to Tortolla happens, if we can swing both.
Nice.
Tortolla – you play too much WOW
Tortola is in BVI, not a lot left there after Irma and Maria
I know where Tortola is, my Grandmother grew up there. We were gonna take her back for her birthday last October, and plans got canceled.
But they are already back up and running, was talking with our cousin who lives down there and most the island has power and water again. Unlike the our Government, the British know how to repair things after a disaster.
I went a few years after a hurricane tore the shit out of the place .
We went in August . That was a huge mistake . Went to check out the Mayan ruins , another huge mistake . The heat was nothing like I have ever experienced .
We went in February. Thanks for the warning, though, on going in the hotter months.
I thought I could handle the heat . Worked outside my entire life . I was mistaken . Unbearable .
Saw a ton of topless women and anal floss . That was very cool.
LOL
Looks really nice.
So Worrall is K from C?
Yes
Jolly Good!
Is there an Engrwish tranwation?
know what I mean, Vern?
That’s funny……. imagining you trying to say that.
No, show shorry
Find a Caribbean island that is still in good shape after the hurricane.

The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA is very nice; a bit pricey but worth it. Cape May in the spring is awesome.
________________
Yes, to both. Actually, had a bachelor party weekend at Hot Springs. Three rounds of Golf, steak dinner. Fly fishing and Trap shooting. It was awesome.
Also, I actaully spend a lot of time in Cape May. My family owns some property there, so we go down several weekends over the summer.
Actually, lovely in the spring and fall there, too.
Stop walking away from the wall outlet.
I’m gonna suggest Cape May to her, we both love going to the Ocean.
It’s really lovely. Full of B&B’s in Victorian homes.
I’ve been once, not sure if she has. The hard part is convincing her to go to Jersey, we spend a lot of time mocking the state.
I liver there. LOTS to mock, but the beaches are actually lovely.
She spends a lot of time mocking a place she’s never been?
She’s been to New Jersey many times, just not Cape May.
Everyone who lives on the east coast makes fun of New Jersey. It’s like how all of Europe mocks the French.
There are two Jerseys, three actually, tbf
leave out the part that it’s Jersey, and downwater from Dupont
Hey here’s a story I’d love to get John’s opinion on, the clusterfuck that was making Madden 06.
https://www.rollingstone.com/glixel/features/super-bowl-madden-06-w516199
“Fire extinguishers in the upper deck were being rendered in full 3D. Doorways used 3D doorknobs. In the Eagles stadium, a team member rendered a power relay box with the door open, all of the internal switches also utilizing polygons. Gourlay remembers the game using 9MB on just the texture of the football (for comparison, an entire stadium model in Madden 06 took up 100MB).”
LOL Wow, they were trying to do way too much with that game
It’s fascinating isn’t it? I’m not sure if John was working there in 06 or if he went in later.
I’m also not sure if John wants to be called John in the comments or Kelly.
Also “The Xbox 360 didn’t offer dedicated Video RAM, rather sharing 512GB of RAM with the CPU.” 512 GB of RAM is obviously a typo. But remember when 512 MB was a lot???
Oh that is definitely a typo… especially in 2005. The iPhone 4 had about 512MB RAM. When you think about it, that is pretty crazy for device that fits in your pocket compared to an XBOX 360
Yeah, it is.
Off topic, wife and I have our 5 year wedding anniversary coming up in a few months and we’re trying to find some kind of 3-4 day getaway, anyone here have suggestions? I looked on Groupon to see if anything was good, they had a “romantic getaway to Indianapolis” as a good deal.
Because when I think love, I think about the city of fried pork sandwiches and wasted quarterback talent.
switch to a 4-3
There’s always Mexico. If you’re OK with drunken folks from Texas.
Quintana Roooooooo!!!

South Africa
Just not Cape Town. They may be out of water by then.
What month? You folks prefer mountains or coast??
End of April, we do both, I prefer to summer in the mountains, winter on the coasts
The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA is very nice; a bit pricey but worth it. Cape May in the spring is awesome.
Mexico or not, the Caribbean is out of Hurricane season at the moment, though some of it isn’t in all that great condition
Well we had a big mishap with our trip to BVI last year, hurricane ruined that, hitting a month before we were going to go. Still have to re-schedule that with my family for some time this summer.

New Orleans?
Actually, a great one at that time of year!
12th night and mardi gras are over, the sewers should be cleaned out by then
It’s always in our rotation, go every few years. Love NO.
Great minds. lol
Find a Caribbean island that is still in good shape after the hurricane.
Grand Cayman’s pretty nice and I don’t think they got hit. St. Lucia’s REALLY nice and they didn’t get hit either.
Actually going to San Juan (well, right outside – Isla Verde) in two weeks. Much of San Juan is back. Some of the major hotels are closed, so hotel prices are through the roof. Got a sweet two bedroom on the 17th Floor of a high rise overlooking the ocean for a pretty reasonable price.

One more time for your yankee dumbass. They paid a 4th round draft pick over fourty million dollars and got no return . That by any average moron is a failure .
___________________
BTG, Buck isn’t talking about Fuller; he’s talking about KC. They’re letting KC walk potentially without any compensation.
He’s not “whining” about giving away Fuller….
Trying my damndest to understand what Fuller had to do with it . I tell ya man .. .I just leave it alone .
Last Time
He wasn’t going to negotiate
I think the FO made the right move (and possibly the best move) with Alex Smith considering the current situation.
However, the FO really bungled the KC situation from 2015 forward.
Just like the incompetent Steelers organization has bungled the Bell situation since the end of 2015
They have; although, a RB is more easily replaced than a startng caliber QB.
Er’rybody knows that. It’s the chain of events leading up to the final move by the FO (which was required) that is what people take issue with. I’m just glad it’s over. The price was high, too high, but necessary.
Total cost involved.
So obvious and known by anybody and everybody familiar with the situation.
not until March, and that might sound myopic (to make the trade now) but if the Skins thought they had a pretty low chance of signing him, then they’d gone into free agency pantsless.
To be fair, by coming in below market value with their offer, the skins didn’t look like they were doing much negotiating either. Water under the bridge now.
Services rendered. If he had a contract with two years of g’d money on it, he probably would have gotten just slightly less than the FT, because as I’ve said over and over, the FTs were too close to what market rate was for either side to negotiate seriously. Had he signed like a 4 year deal that between signing bonus, 1st year, and 2nd year salaries, 44 million is about what he’d have gotten. I don’t think they wanted to give up Fuller, and I think they really actually thought they’d get a LTD done… prob at the very least until July 2017.
Well there was really a way they could have gotten anything for Kirk since nobody was going to trade for him on the tag.
I agree with that . I think the disagreement stems from how they have handled the situation clear back to 15. You I believe are in the camp that says there was nothing that could have been done . I just don’t believe that . It doesn’t make common sense at all.
But as far as the present , I agree with you completely . They did what they had to do and I’m glad .
they might have been able to go in with a better offer in 2015, but I maintain that this whole thing stems from RG3. whether that’s real or psychological from both sides or not, RG3 and the Trade.
I’m sure that plays a role in it .
At this point, Flounder, you are correct.
Lol
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7ZTh9Rd0aA
Not a ginger….
Show this to etrod when you see him.
Already got that in mind
So should the redskins have traded Kirk last year or the year before I’m not sure what else they were supposed to do since he wouldn’t negotiate.
Do we even know if teams were offering anything?
How is this so hard to understand
Everybody understands it . It doesn’t matter how many times you keep repeating it . People understand it perfectly .
Thank you, Flounder! You are a great soldier.
-Tony Wyllie
I would have liked to see them use the transition tag last year.
Not sure why they didn’t.
It could have been a way to figure out for certain what his market value was, and if they really were prepared to pay it.
no, they weren’t. thus, the trade.
Is Jarvis Landry more of an outside receiver or slot receiver?
slot, but prob could play outside, I mean if Jackson can play outside
Thought so. Thanks!
Don’t think we need another slot. Need deep outside threat.
We did the best we could to keep a team with very good bones competitive given the QB debacle. There should be no drop off (maybe slight improvement) with the QB play. Now its up to the FO to land some guys in FA and the draft to continue to improve this roster.
When BA threw KC under the bus last year with that memo, I knew it was the end. So did the Skins.
Yup.
Is was the end before that Cousins has always wanted to hit FA’s so he can have his ass kissed.

Clearly this is beyond your ability to understand
___________________________
So, saying that the FO fucked up the Kirk deal automatically means “this season”? Ok…..
What was that about ability, again?
Buck literally thinks we traded Fuller and got nothing in return
I have no words
From his posts yesterday, I don’t think you’re getting his full opinion.
Read his posts today
I’ll just ask him later when the blog slows down.
One more time for your yankee dumbass. They paid a 4th round draft pick over fourty million dollars and got nothing in return . That by any average moron is a failure .
My dream FA class would be Brown, Logan, Landry, Pugh
Finally Benny
Agree
Spendy wish list.
The fact we traded for Smith shows that the FO knew Cousins had no desire to return here
“Aye aye, captain
And they should be applauded for taking care of our QB situation right away
Because 2 seasons is right away.
er…. ok…. taking care of QB situation for this season?
Yes, and they did what was necessary, at this late stage in the disaster.
They’ve known that for some time; and if they didn’t, they are even bigger fools than I took them for.
Part of the obvious failure .
How is knowing he never wanted to sign here a failure and what could they have done differently?
This wasn’t an either or with Smith and Cousins, Cousins was gone even if we didn’t trade for Smith.
I don’t think there was any amount of money that the Redskins could have offered to get Cousins to sign a LTD here. It wasn’t the lord’s plan for him.
Nope which is why acting like this was either or is stupid. It was Smith or Colt or a rookie,
I do. There’s always a price. The Redskins clearly didn’t want to, and never did, offer a 5 year deal. Had they done that, I’m convinced Cousins would’ve come to the table.
Doesn’t matter now. I’m just glad that I don’t have to write “Kirk Cousins and His Coming King-Sized Contract, Part 5”. That’s what all of this is really about for me.
Maybe. It would have been interesting to see it play out.
But at least we know we’ll have a good QB next year (and a couple years after that)..
Kirk was not going to sign anything before becoming a FA.
In all honesty, this team has bigger issues than just losing Fuller
the front 7 had trouble stopping the run and putting pressure on the QB
need another DL and an every down ILB
with out “fixing” the defense the Cousins for Smith swap doesn’t amount to a hill of beans
And without getting this offense another couple ball-handling weapons, it won’t matter much either.
Need RB and WR1. Big order. Would settle for just a top caliber RB.
Signing Jarvis Landry and drafting one of Barkley/Guice/Jones/Sony Michel would go a long way to accomplishing both.
the problem with Landry is he takes Crowder off the field
Landry will be too expensive, I would try for Allen Robinson
Robinson would work too.
Like Robinson a lot, but he is coming off a very serious knee injury.
I’d add a TE to that as well.
The Redskins love Jordan Reed still.
Meh… Of course that could change for say….6 games
I”m comfortable in saying that based on our interview with Doc Walker a few weeks ago.
I remember, 50 minute podcast, very nice.
biggest need for offensive are a LG who can run block well
and another WR, I don’t place as high a priority on RB as some here (um Steve)
Well unless we skip FA’s and the draft we should be able to do that.
Yes they did after Allen got hurt.
when Allen and Ionnidis went down, yes
Yeah before that we were stopping the run fine.
Need depth at Dline. Gruelling position.
“Redskins to give away ”
Comes across as petulant whining because something didn’t go your way
Suck it up Nancy
Comes across as realistic . They are giving him away .
And getting a qb in return
Tell me that you can comprehend that
Comprehend this smart ass , they invested more than 40 million dollars in a guy and get nothing for him . That’s the point . Now they have 70 million in guarantees to somebody else .
He wasn’t negotiating with the redskins
Clearly this is beyond your ability to understand
I’ve said that. Moot point . They got nothing in return .
https://i.imgflip.com/23rz9m.jpg
You wanna be a dick about it , these people are volunteering their time . Actually you come off as condescending and arrogant .
muahahahahahaa….
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9ae2be7d7ad5c12672b01beadae1d0cff31f41b6a8e36016250c079a2cbe1a22.jpg
That chickadee needs some feed.
John is a friend, and I like the column, but I do disagree with alot of it. I think acquiring Alex Smith is a pretty darn good solution to a problem that otherwise wasn’t going to have a happy ending. I think Cousins would’ve stayed here if the Redskins had offered enough money, as I’ve put in print and said on the air many times, but that amount was going to be $150M+ over 5 years, which the Redskins just weren’t going to do. So getting Alex Smith in here ensures that this offense can be competitive right from the get-go in terms of QB play, in a way that Colt McCoy couldn’t do and any rookie this side of Josh Rosen couldn’t do immediately. I think the Redskins can get 3 quality years out of Smith, which is a win to me, particularly if we see more of the 2017 Smith, who was better than Cousins.
I understand that losing Fuller stinks, but it’s not the end of the world, and we historically draft a ton of CBs, and one of them will replace him. In the meantime, we roll with Norman/Dunbar/Moreau, at least, which is pretty decent. We’ll be fine.
I also don’t care much about Cousins leaving without compensation – he was a 4th round pick, he was here 5 years, and we’ll very likely get a comp pick. Again, not the end of the world.
So right now, the franchise has its QB for the next 3 years, at least, and that’s a good thing. It can now go about the business of plugging holes at RB, WR, G, DL, and LB. Good.
how much was Fuller, and how much was Gray. if Gray is a good coach, we’ll get past this
This isn’t trading away Champ Bailey. This is trading away a guy going into his third year, who had one awful season and one very good season. Even if he turns out to be a long-term starter, when you have a chance to get a quality, top 10 QB for several years, I think you trade the Kendall Fullers of the world every time.
Yeah, Gray had 4 INTs, I mean….
we’re doomed!
Fair and honorable. Allowing voice to both perspectives.
Yes . You aren’t going to agree with every article , nor should you or anybody.
And k0n swung high, struck out, bat flying free from his clutching fingers, and struck poor Squinns in the forehead.
Wrong post?
*teabagging you
Put that snack away….
Lol, Buck said you were a big fan of walnuts.
By signing Alex Smith, the Redskins have basically said “this is the level of QB we think we need to be successful”
Implicit in that is that they don’t believe that Kirk is MORE, worth MORE, or worth waiting for like a desperate girl waiting for the HS QB to decide who he’s going to the prom with. And each step of the way, they did evaluate Kirk with the available data and could not definitively decide that he was worth elite franchise money. Because that’s where this ended up the last two years. And that is what it appears Cousins is seeking. Stafford deal translated to a 176 to 178 mil salary cap. So, Redskins said, we’re out.
I don’t think there is any spot where you can say in that process the Redskins were incompetent. The incompetent part started this difficult situation: it was the Trade in 2012.
The offer of $12.5mm after the 2015 year. KC’s agent said, despite the low ball offer, they countered with $16. Redskins balked.
Should never have come down to playing on the Ftag. Should have gotten a LTD done then.
That’s when they were particularly incompentet.
That’s the whole thing in a nutshell. That’s the epic failure .
On both parties
It’s a negotiation
Back and forth
Skins were way below market. Cousins’ offer was reasonable.
The incompetent part was that they should’ve fished or cut bait last offseason. There was no need to tag this player a second time.
Right, let’s talk about the cause.
Except they had no backup plan….
Who’s fault is that?
The Skins. Don’t know whose fault in particular that is….
Right. It doesn’t really matter who, specifically.
So Wiz are being linked to Greg Monroe, because what that teem really needs is another big man taking up cap space.
Hope after the Alex Smith announcement…

Sitting here at lunch, posted this story, and then started surfing the web. Went over to my favorite Game of Thrones fan site, which had photos and a video of a major, major real spoiler out of season 8 production, if any of you are into reading the spoilers.
I have not watched one second of Game of Thrones and I doubt I ever will.
now that the HBO and Amazon thing has expired, I prob won’t either
but Brittainia ain’t bad, if you like that kind of historical fiction
Saw something about it last night and closed the tab before any more hit my brain.
The spoiler industry is a blight on the internets.
I love it. I think the show is making a big mistake by taking 18 months between seasons. To me, it’s just like reading the books (the 6th book, of course, which doesn’t and won’t exist).

A bold act of defiance if I have ever seen one.
You’ll get there someday hopefully with rg
Maybe
I’ve got nothing against either one. Shit happens.
Of course you don’t
That means only Hope is left on that mailing list.

Didn’t take long for Master to jump ship did it.
Wasn’t he jumping up and down on the Cowpatties jocks?
He also wrote that article that if your team isn’t winning its aOK to jump ship and support a winning organization.
A) Dude is a tool.
B) Dude has no soul (and therefore, if he were white, he’d likely be a ginger).
C) Dude is a fraud.
all of those things , I agree .
I liked the guy, but he was never all about DC.
I’ll fix the latter part of your sentence: … he was never about DC.
And he tried all that high horse bullshit with his human interest crap. What a d-bag.
I can’t wait until Aaron Rodgers gets a 4 year extension, just so Packer fans can exclaim how old he is
“OMG he’s older than Alex Smith!”
“One foot in the grave!”
BTW the knock “they can’t win big games” is a thing for both the Redskins AND the Chiefs and has crossed much longer bridges that the tenures of their QBs
“He is not going to improve the Redskins on the field”
Amateur hour
Be better than that otherwise it’s just like the post
It’s like a bad break up.
You don’t want anything from her. You just want her to get the hell out.
Other fun 2005 facts.
A little known fantasy writer just released the 4th book in his series “A song of ice and fire”
The first ever video is uploaded to a website called Youtube.
The Washington Post starts a blog called Redskins Insider, with a comment section that takes off.
Stupid post
KC wasn’t an option
SMH
I seriously think people fail to see this.
I think they understand it myself . It’s pretty damn clear at this point.
What part is not factual ?
The thinking that we could have signed KC
The statement that ASmith will not improve the team
He’s gone and they won’t get anything in return. Not reading that we had any chance to sign him .
He
Refused
To
Negotiate
Yes , therefore they get nothing in return . Still not reading they had any chance of resigning him.
You are right about Smith . That remains to be seen .
The Skins MAY get a third round compensatory pick for Kirk’s departure. As Rick has said many time, Allen should be fired for letting KC get away without any compensation.
that book hasn’t been closed yet
keep in mind they thought they were going to sign him, well, until maybe last July
Amen
agree
‘with the Redskins receiving absolutely nothing in return. Zero. Zip. Nada. Bupkus.’
Getting rid of KSFTG is a return unto its own self.
Keep dreaming . That’s a colossal failure .
Fuck that guy
KSFTG
Can I get a harrumph???
FO hard at work…..
I wholeheartedly agree and I’m first .
Actually, I’m first – just like I was with your wife.
She said you left her unsatisfied . You started crying and have a small penis .
So no different than you, cept the crying eh.
She’s right; really thought she’d go lesbian after that night. Close enought with you, though, I reckon.
