Roster move: Dustin Hopkins re-signed

The Redskins announced today that kicker Dustin Hopkins has re-signed with the Redskins. Last year Hopkins missed part of the season with an injury but returned, finishing the season making 14 of 17 attempted field goals in the 8 games for the year. He’s been a solid kicker through most of his career with the Redskins. Despite an infamous miss in London that resulted in a tie game, he’s been consistent late in games – in his career he is 22/23 on field goals in the 4th Quarter.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have re-signed kicker Dustin Hopkins. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Hopkins (6-2, 203) was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round (No. 177 overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. He joined the Redskins in Week 2 of the 2015 season and has kicked in 39 regular season games, converting 73-of-87 field goal attempts (83.9 percent) and 93-of-98 PATs (94.9 percent).
Hopkins ranks fifth in team history in field goals made (73), fifth in PATs made (93) and 13th in points (312, fifth-most among kickers). His 83.9 field goal percentage ranks second in franchise records among kickers with at least 50 field goal attempts, and his 34 made field goals during the 2016 campaign set a single-season team record.
Hopkins kicked collegiately at Florida State, setting the NCAA career scoring record for kickers (466 points) during a storied four-year career. During his time with the Seminoles, he established new NCAA, ACC and Florida State records with 88 career field goals.
Hopkins, 27, attended Clear Lake H.S. in Houston, where he was a two-time Texas 5A all-state selection and USA Today first-team All-American as a senior. He was born Oct. 1, 1990.

Are only two teams seriously chasing Kirk Cousins?

With the negotiating window open and plenty of calls being made and texts being exchanged, questions are emerging about whether and to what extent the market for quarterback Kirk Cousins is as robust as believed.
As one league source explained it to PFT, the early sense is that only two teams have shown serious interest in Cousins: The Jets and the Vikings.
Other teams may have made a phone call and/or placed a ballpark number on the table, but the thinking is that the Jets and Vikings are the two truly serious candidates for Cousins’ services.
With news that the Vikings have contacted the Drew Brees camp, Minnesota seems to be going all in for a franchise quarterback who would help the team get over the hump. Or, alternatively, they’re trying to get Case Keenum to accept a Bortlesque offer to remain in the job that landed in his lap last year — and that he performed admirably, for most of the season.

Given the constant questions about the status of left tackle Trent Williams, being Trent Williams’ backup has a high value to Washington.
So Williams’ backup was rewarded thusly.
Via Rich Tandler of NBC Sports Washington, the team used the second-round tender on backup tackle Ty Nsekhe. That will pay him $2.914 million next season, and yield the team a second-round pick if he’s signed away by another team in free agency.
Nsekhe started nine games the last two years, while Williams battled knee problems.
Right tackle Morgan Moses is also having offseason surgery, putting a premium on keeping Nsekhe around.
Kinda surprised the Drew Brees does not have a deal with NO, maybe they are really interested in moving on. Minny is talking to his agent, if he is out there and willing to go to a team he makes Cousins the 2nd option for a team like minny trying to win a SB now.

A suicidal woman who jumped from an eighth floor window crushed a passer-by to death in a horrific accident. The woman hurled herself from the balcony in Viladecans, near Barcelona, and landed on top of a 50-year-old pedestrian who was walking below. Theoretically the Skins can do better. However, Brown was the best we’ve had at ILB since Fletcher so I doubt we will do better.
I could name a few MLB’s I’d rather have. He didn’t knock my socks off and frankly I was surprised his stats were as good as they were in terms of overall tackles. He just didn’t look to me like an elite MLB relative to the elite money he is going to command.
Sure, there are better ILBs but none of those guys are available. That’s the point. We will likely take a step back at that position next year without Brown
My point is that I do not think we will. Our D-line will be better and JA back from injury and if this team adds to the defensive side of the ball, specifically the front 7, I don’t see us missing ZB much if at all.

Give him 3 more years, and he could vault all the way up to 3rd behind Mark Mosley and Chip Lohmiller. You might see a column from me about this.

Here is a stat about Kickers I’m shocked isn’t kept. Why does no one seem to track game winning FG’s? I realize it’s not gonna happen every game but would still be a good stat to track when it comes to measuring kicker greatness.

Even if there isn’t, you’re afraid to so much as rustle a chewing gum wrapper in your pocket, lest you bring the gaze of a vengeful golf crowd upon your shame.
But when you think about it, there’s no obvious reason why people who have paid through the gate should feel in the least bit shy about continuing normal inter-personal communication. The ticket cost 50 quid, you had to get out of bed at 5am, the tented village is a swizz, the burgers are cold and the drinks are warm and overpriced. You walk all day, the car-park is a half-marathon away and on top of it all, you’re supposed to act like you’re doing all of this in a library.
Debatable on what the worst spectator sport is.
Live, I can see Golf sucking, but I’ve never wanted to go watch that.

I enjoy golf and have been playing for a long time, but only once or twice a year. I’m very inconsistent and therefore not very good. I’m definitely a casual fan. I’ll watch Sunday afternoon of a major, maybe, but that’s it. But with Tiger in it, absolutely, just to see what happens.
i guess you’re pretty typical of the fans he pulls in. definitely a whole different vibe when he’s there. a lot of the young hot-shots in golf may not even remember what it’s like to be in a tournament where tiger is playing.
