It’s time again to look at the Redskins Mock draft tracker.  Of the 167 mock drafts tracked, predictions for the Redskins are as follows:

Rank Player Pos School % Taken Notes
1 Chase Young DE Ohio State 87%
2 Some sort of trade 7.2%
2 Tua Tagovailoa QB Alabama 3.6%
4 Joe Burrow QB LSU 0.6% Has Young going to Bengals
5 Derrick Brown DT Auburn 0.6% Mocker has no clue
6 Andrew Thomas OT Georgia 0.6% Steve’s dream pick

The overwhelming choice from the pundits is still Chase Young, who garnered 87% of the picks. Second choice now is some sort of trade scenario. Third choice is drafting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and followed by some single out of the box picks.

Trade Breakdowns

The most popular option is a trade with Miami for the #5 pick (among other picks). Without getting into all the trade permutations, with the predictions for the Redskins at the fifth pick is:

  • Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Ohio St (selected by five experts)
  • Jedrick Wills Jr, OT, Alabama (selected by two experts)
  • Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville (selected by one expert)
  • Chase Young, DE, Ohio St (selected by one expert)

I don’t see how Washington could trade back and not have the Lions or Giants take Young. To me that doesn’t make any sense.

One expert has the Redskins trading with Chargers for the #6 pick, with the Redskins selecting:

  • Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville

Another expert predicted that Washington will trade with the Panthers for the #7 pick, with the team selecting:

  • Jeffrey Okudah, CB, Ohio St

Another draft expert predicted a trade between the Redskins and the Raiders, with Washington getting the #12 pick and selecting:

  • Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson

The trade back rumors have increased lately as a result of all of the roster deficiencies that remain after free agency. Major questions remain around the offensive line, especially left tackle, and the defensive secondary, mainly cornerback. Needless to say, this will probably one of the more exciting drafts for the Redskins in several years, particularly with whatever happens on Thursday night in round one.
