The Great Wimbleton Accords of 1986
Let the record show that Steve and Chris have found a section of complete common ground, which is their mutual hatred for Wimbledon because it delayed the NBC version of David Letterman’s show every June. How is this rare area of agreement discovered? Well, first they talk through the new NBA G(atorade) League and its first-star prospect Jalen Green. After that, they discuss the fast crash and burn of yet another alternative football league, the XFL. Of course, they talk COVID fall-out and how leagues might come back. In that conversation, they discuss the pandemic insurance policy that Wimbledon paid $2M to have for 17 years. Their cancelation of the 2020 version gets them a $141M payout. And thus the Steve/Chris Kumbaya moment.
